Thirty-three years ago today, Lake Superior laid claim to the S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald and the 29 lives aboard her. I don't know why, but the story always held an interest for me. It could be my love of the area and respect for the winter. It could be that it is a "local" story. It could be Gordon Lightfoot's eerily and emotional tribute to her and her crew. Whatever it is, the story holds a draw to me like very few others do.
