Better Re-read The Bible!

The right wing extremist owners of Hobby Lobby(The Greens) are willing to be fined rather than give their hardworking employees healthcare

Today Hobby Lobby announced that they will not comply with this mandate to become complicit in abortion, which the Greens believe ends an innocent human life. Given Hobby Lobby’s size (it has 572 stores employing more than 13,000 people), by violating the HHS Mandate, it will be subject to over $1.3 million in fines per day. That means over $40 million in fines in January alone. If their case takes another ten months to get before the Supreme Court—which would be the earliest it could get there under the normal order of business—the company would incur almost a half-billion dollars in fines. And then of course the Supreme Court would have to write an opinion in what would likely be a split decision with dissenters, which could easily take four or six months and include hundreds of millions of dollars in additional penalties.

This is civil disobedience, consistent with America’s highest traditions when moral issues are at stake. The Greens are a law-abiding family. They have no desire to defy their own government. But as the Founders launched the American Revolution because they believed the British government was violating their rights, the Greens believe that President Barack Obama and Secretary Kathleen Sebelius are commanding the Greens to sin against God, and that no government has the lawful authority to do so.

When the Greens pay their employees who build their business $8.36/hr and their best paid employees $11/hr and still whine about providing them with health care...then maybe they should re-read the Bible or at least have someone who understands it explain it to them!

Here is a start Matthew 25:36

36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.' 37 "Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' 40 "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' 41 "Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.' 44 "They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?' 45 "He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.' 46 "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

The Greens seem to think that giving their employees healthcare, will force abortions.  They are wrong!

I recommend giving your business to Michael's!

  1. I will look forward to continuing my support of Hobby Lobby... At no point in the Bible was there any inference that to "Help" your fellow man you should be "Forced" to pay for them to Abort their child.. What a ridiculous distortion of Scripture!

    1. brown,it is birth control pills,not abortions.
besides hobby lobby never got health insurance for their workers before obama care and now they say the reason they aren't now is because of the birth control pill clause.what was their excuse before ?

  2. Downtown Brown... what's next Jewish employers forbiding their employees from eating pork or shell fish?

If Hobby Lobby wants an exemption from the law, they should restrucure their company to comply with the law.

In the meantime, we can use the revenue.

  3. Downtown, you know birth control isn't an abortion medication right? The right wing's obsession with vaginas and what we do with them is borderline perverted. Worry about yourself and your own reproductive decisions, not everyone elses. creep.

  5. Downtown Brown reads a report like this on about Hobby Lobby and thinks reports like this one about Hobby Lobby and the plutocrats behind the chain is a commandment for buying even more made in China cr@p sold by this chain. Others might think different.

  6. Brown, the fertilized egg is in the fallopian tubes for about two-days. Then it tries to attach to the uterine wall. The "rhythm method," aka natural family planning uses the exact same science as "emergency contraception." They prevent the fertilized egg from attaching to the uterine lining.

    Jeff, great post, thank you.

  7. @Meg I think John Casper did too!
@John, nice try but the rhythm method involved abstaining from conjugal relations during times when conception was thought to be likely.
@Screaming Eagle. Hobby Lobby did have health insurance for certain employees and it covered contraception. When they found out it covered contraception they had the policy rewritten to specifically exclude contraception.

The main thing to understand about Hobby Lobby's owners desire to inflict their religious beliefs on their employees is their definition of abortifacients. It is not limited to the morning after pill although that is what we are hearing about in the media. All hormonal birth control prevents the egg from attaching. Anything which prevents the egg from attaching is an abortifacient in their book, the pill, implants, IUDs, all cause an abortion every month. Basically if it is prescribed and it works it is a sin.

These are the same good Christians who believe that vaccinating girls to prevent infection with certain species of human papillomavirus associated with the development of cervical cancer will encourage promiscuity. Far better they die from a preventable cancer.

  8. Earth/science to Larry, the fertilized egg doesn't grow if it can't implant on the uterine wall. NFP/rhythm method/emergency contraception have NOTHING to do with preventing conception.

The uterine wall is only receptive to the implanting of the fertilized egg for about a week out of every month. If that doesn't happen menstruation occurs.

    Have you heard of that?

That's why couples using NFP/rhythm can theoretically have sex without getting pregnant for three out of every four weeks. When they have sex in that three-week interval, eggs are getting fertilized. As long as the couple is careful about the TIMING of their sex, those fertilized eggs aren't able to implant on the uterine wall. The abstinence has zero to do with conception and everything to do with implantation.

Not in humans as you describe unless drugs are being administered to both cause superovulation over an extended period AND interfere with implantation. Where does this 'information' come from?

    1. A1:32, all the "information" you need about uterine implantion is in the menstruation cycle.

From where does your "information" come?

    2. I'm not interested in debating the topic, but your disinformation requires correction.

Earth/science to Larry, the fertilized egg doesn't grow if it can't implant on the uterine wall. NFP/rhythm method/emergency contraception have NOTHING to do with preventing conception.

First: The religious and political resistance to emergency contraception is largely based on the concept that the prevention of implantation of a fertilized egg is an abortion. The cognitive dissonance in considering NFP/rhythm and emergency contraception to be functionally similar is stunning.
Rick Santorum would like to have a word with you.

Second: Biology does not work as you describe.

The NFP/rhythm method is based on prevention of fertilization not prevention of implantation. The various timing methods all attempt to predict ovulation, which happens only once per cycle. All rhythm methods are based on predicting when a fertile egg will be present and successfully preventing a viable sperm fertilizing that egg. They have nothing to do with intervening or predicting the implantation of a fertilized egg.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Frequently asked Questions Natural Family Planning explains:

What Factors influence the success or failure of natural family planning methods?
The success or failure of any of these methods will depend on your ability to
      * recognize the signs that ovulation (the release of an egg from the woman's ovary) is about to occur
      * not have sex during the fertile period or use another method, such as condoms, during the fertile period

Third: The concept of ovulation implied by this statement "That's why couples using NFP/rhythm can theoretically have sex without getting pregnant for three out of every four weeks. When they have sex in that three-week interval, eggs are getting fertilized." is clearly at odds with the following description of ovulation and how implantation subsequent to successful fertilization occurs. Same source as before.

When is ovulation likely to occur? For most women, an egg is released almost 2 weeks before her next expected menstrual period. The egg remains able to be fertilized for about 24 hours after it is released. Sperm can live in a woman's body for 3 days or more.

  10. Hobby Lobby IS still giving health care to it's employees, just not the abortion pills and other contraception.
I guess facts kind get in the way of babble, bullshit and other crap you spew, right Jeff.
I also suspect the owners of Hobby Lobby have done more to help mankind much more than your lazy could ever do.

By the way they dont really offer health insurance to many of their $8.36/hr employees.....

  11. Meg,

Note the subject that Dan teaches. He only requires two hours per night to stay one page ahead of his students.

As a true right wing believer, I bet Dan really enjoys teaching in the land of no unions, working for $30,000 per year with top career earnings of $45,000 with 30 years of experience and your doctorate. Just like Walker's plan for Wisconsin's teachers.
