Bret Bielema is a disgraceful person with no
integrity because he betrayed the state and damaged the program he was hired to
improve, all in order to benefit himself. I know, that makes the former Badger
football coach no worse than your typical turd in the morally barren landscape
of college athletics.
But have we stopped to realize yet how the
former Badger football coach resembles Scott Walker?
We
should, because that would help prepare us for the day that is coming when
Scott Walker pulls the same crap on Wisconsin as Bielema just did.
Both the position of
coach and governor, one on a trivial sports level and the other on a serious
governing level, represent the state and have the responsibility to maintain
the integrity of something many in Wisconsin view as a source of pride. Both
are also public positions funded with checks paid for by all who pay taxes
here.
There are also
similarities beyond the positions that extend to the two men themselves. Both Bielema
and Walker have roots in Iowa and a questionable affinity to this state. While
Bielema is infamous for sporting an Iowa Hawkeye logo tattoo on his calf,
Walker evades his days as a preachers boy in the desolate Northeast part of the
tall corn state. Through words and deeds, though, Scott seems to be
enthusiastic about Cali.
Personal observation
only, but both Bielema and Walker lack in the charisma department. As I gauge the
intelligence of either when they speak, the meter’s needle grunts to hit the
same small number for both.
Don’t be fooled though: a
measly erudition does not mean that either is short on ambition.
It’s
well known that Walker has his eye on positions beyond Wisconsin. His featured speech last November at the Reagan Presidential Library prompted many political
experts to surmise he is viewing national office.
Also, he was absent from
his job in the state a ton last year, raising money and cementing relationships
with the well-heeled kingmakers and funding sources in the big leagues of
republican conservatives.
Besides, Walker already
pulled a Bielema on Milwaukee County. As Capper has documented more than once, Walker
used the county executive post as a means to become governor and left behind a mess in
the county for others to clean up. For the coming year, experts predict Walker
will moderate his stances to burnish his wider appeal and leave to the Fitzgeralds
and talk radio any of the nasty business needed to continue to serve the wishes
of his corporate patrons.
So
clearly Scott Walker, if given the chance, will leave abruptly even if it hurts
the state. He’ll use the position many
people exerted effort to help him obtain not to compensate those who helped him
by expending effort and skill in improving life for all. Rather, he’ll expend
effort to improve his future prospects and betray those who backed him in order
to enrich himself. He’ll take the integrity of the state downward, and work on
our dime to line up an even better paying job somewhere else.
In
other words, some day soon, Walker will pull a Bielema.
The biggest obstacle to national prominence for Walker is that he is a nose picker. In public. It's rather off putting. He also seems to lack control of his facial muscles. I've never seen someone make so many goofy faces. Anyone who has spent any time in the same room as Scott Walker can attest to this.
ReplyDeleteC'mon people. I'm a long time reader of this blog, and overall I support most of what is posted. But I fear that with this post, you may well have jumped the shark.
ReplyDeleteAs a long time writer of this blog, I find Bert's observations to be right on the money. I'm afraid you're not what you pretend to be.
DeleteMaybe he meant the nose picking comment and not the blog.
DeleteYou'd be so wrong - mainly because I pretend to be nothing ;) But I don't find benefit in irrelevant rhetoric that makes not only a lot of illogical stretches, but leaps and bounds...
ReplyDeleteLook, I honestly do endorse 98% of what is posted on this blog. But I cringe when "my side" is represented by something nearly as crazy as the rwnj postings one finds elsewhere online. And, agree with me or not, I think this rhetoric falls into that category.
No, I definitely would put you in the category of "concern troll."
DeleteThere is nothing inaccurate about this post. Sorry.
I fail to see any circumstance in which Scott Walker leaving the state at anytime would be a bad thing.....
ReplyDeleteI do. POTUS.
DeleteMaybe I'm overestimating the American public in general, but I have a really hard time believing he'd win a national election. I hope I'm right. I think he'd go down in flames like Mittens.
DeleteThat's what I thought when he ran for governor. And during the recall.
DeleteIt's a little tongue in cheek. At the same time, the grasping ambition, the lack of integrity, the limited intelligence, all that is shared by both.
ReplyDeleteHe has his 2014 campaign staff in place. He and representatives from WEDC and WDATCP are going to China on "trade mission." Yeah, he's running for POTUS in 2016 and win or lose, he will abandon Wisconsin for "greener" pastures.

In my humble opinion, Chris Christie would kick Walker's ass in most Republican primaries, even in Wisconsin. Sure, Jailbait is getting money from the Koch brothers, but those guys like to spread their bets. Hell, they can buy every politician in the country if they so desire.
ReplyDeleteWalker won't even do well in the deep, blood Red States as there will certainly be some Teabilly psychopath--Rand Paul--to soak up the votes there.
And the Vice Presidential slot won't be open because the Party appartatchicks will remember what another Wisconsin Republican, Paul Ryan did for the national ticket, nothing.
Walker is making hay while the political weather is good. He loves publicity, schmoozing with the elite and stock piling money, all while having his sociopathic ego stroked. He needs to soak this attention up while he can, before the next round of indictments start to pop.
At best, he's hoping to avoid prison and get a highly paid sinecure at one of the right-wing holding pens that are inappropriately called 'think tanks'.
Gareth, I'm with you. He's obviously stockpiling money before the indictments hit. It's now just 17 days until we learn of Tim Russell's sentence...AND the interesting tidbits in the pre-sentencing research report with which the DA will tantalize Scott Walker's high priced lawyers. It's a cat and mouse game. The mouse is running around collecting cheese. The cat is biding his time.
