Abele Finally Able To Fire Cancer Victim Now That's He's Dead

Two and a half weeks ago, I was getting ready to ease into the Memorial Day weekend and the beginning of my vacation.  With just hours to go on that Friday, we got word that one of my coworkers, my union brother and my friend, Marcos Aleman had passed away.  Marcos had been battling pancreatic cancer for quite a while.  For a while, we even thought he was one of the lucky ones to have beaten it.

Sadly, it was not the case.

What made Marcos' valiant struggle and near victory was the fact that not only was he dealing with the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual impacts of the cancer, he was also dealing with the fact that Milwaukee County Executive Emperor Chris Abele's Milwaukee County was trying to fire him.

They weren't trying to fire him because he was a bad worker or had done anything wrong.  Nope, they were trying to fire Marcos because he was sick and couldn't keep up with their arbitrarily set quota of work production.  Instead of supporting an employee fighting for his very life, Abele wanted to cut him off and kick him out.  Knowing Abele, he was worried about "efficiency" and didn't want to see that money being wasted on health care.

On Tuesday, Abele will finally get his way.

Marcos is scheduled to go yet again in front of the Personnel Review Board then.  This time, the defense is resting in peace, so Abele's prosecutors might, just might, be able to put the end to that case.

Then Abele can celebrate his own efficacy.

Then again, Abele would probably do that anyway.  He can't be bothered with the humdrum day to day lives of the little people while he and his fellow plutocrats sit in their ivory towers congratulating themselves on being masters of the universe.
