Republican Assembly Candidate Scott Espeseth Ordered to Pay $27500 Debt

It seems bad news and bad luck follows Republican Assembly Candidate Scott Espeseth like a shadow.  A few weeks ago, news broke about comments he made from his campaign Facebook page on the website Opposing Views, where he is listed as a top contributor.  The comment posted on November 2nd 2013 was, "What puzzles me is how any guy would put a (Expletive) in that twice to produce children.  See kids ... this is what happens when your brain is on drugs...,"    Most think no matter the story or the circumstances, that kind of language is not quite becoming to a candidate.  For someone that touts himself as having "common sense" one has to question what he was thinking to make such a comment publicly and to have his campaign tagged as well.

As if that wasn't bad enough, it seems this so called businessman has had trouble keeping his finances in order.  In May of this year, Portfolio Recovery Associates sued Espeseth in Milwaukee County Circuit Court.  On October 23rd, Circuit Judge Christopher Foley entered a default judgement ordering him to pay $27,524.25.

Mr. Espeseth was kind enough to loan his campaign his own money, over $8,000, before paying his creditors.  That doesn't exactly sound like good fiscal responsibility to me and I am sure his creditors would agree.  For someone that touts himself as a businessman, it would appear he has trouble keeping his own finances in order.

It seems, according to court documents, that the firm had trouble tracking Espeseth down.  On August 6th Portfolio Associates was notified that the defendant may not live at 169 N. 67th St, which is the address listed on his campaign filing.  Where exactly does this candidate live?

This is based on an article that can be found at JSOnline, written by Patrick Marley, Judge orders Assembly candidate to pay $27500 debt.

Scott Espeseth is the Republican Candidate for the 7th Assembly District challenging Democratic incumbent Daniel Riemer.

  1. Incumbent Daniel Riemer's main accomplishment in his first two years of "service" in the Assembly was to get his Law Degree and spent most of the summer hitting Chicago law firms trying to cash in. I'm sure he's passing out thank you notes to his constituents for their help.

    1. So you're issue with Riemer is that he improved himself instead of feeding at the dark interest trough?

  2. So “real world experience and common sense solutions,” means ripping people off, not paying your bills and not keeping your word? I guess that is one way to get ahead. He wants to fight fraud? Well that should be easy, he can look in a mirror and tell himself to pay the people he owes money to. Job done. And we don’t even have to elect him to do that.

If you are a follower of Jesus, you would be familiar with thou shall not steal. Not paying your bills and letting them get so delinquent that they go into a court is essentially trying to steal. He might not be using a gun but he is a thief, just like any other thief.

The Facebook comment is just a cherry on top that shows us his personality and frankly his dumbness for having his campaign linked to it. Really? Really? This guy is NOT smart.

    1. Maybe he can get some dark money to flow his way and pay his legal bills. Sam, can your son help with that?

  5. Is Scott running for the 7th assembly district against Dan Reimer or not? I know.... numbers are hard for conservatives. 7 comes after 6 and before 8. And who exactly is touting himself as a businessman? Oh yeah, that would be the guy that owes TWENTY SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS to people he did business with. He's an absolute crook.

  6. Dan Riemer is a bright, conscientious and hard-working legislator. His district is fortunate to have him looking out for their interests in Madison.
