The Five Words That Ended Scott Walker's Presidential Ambitions

By Jeff Simpson

Scott Walker has been feeling rather full of himself lately.  That has been known to happen to a career politician with three big wins under his belt.

Scott Walker, apparently with no one to advise him, decided to step out of the comfort zone of Fox News and headed to meet with an actual reporter.

Scott Walker decided to sit down with Martha Raddatz, from ABC News and "answer" some questions.   The problem for Scott Walker is, he did not see what he was about to be hit with.   Ms. Raddatz, being an actual reporters, did something to Scott Walker that has never been done before.

She asked a follow up question!

Walker was stunned by this of course, since he has not had to answer any tough questions for at least five years.

When someone had the temerity to ask "But what does that mean?..." .

Scott Walker was flabbergasted.

He gave his best Sarah Palinesesque answer, but then in the end, advocated for more war and "boots on the ground".

He might as well have answered "Umm .....you know all of them".

Don't get me wrong, Scott Walker is not done campaigning for President after today. He will continue to travel the country, spend our taxpayer money and probably compete for the first few primaries with the craziest of the crazies.   Then he will slowly fade into oblivion in the other 49 states.

One day when answering a trivia question about Scott Walkers failed Presidential bid, you can point to February 1st, 2015 as the beginning of the end.

  1. It is so disappointing to continue to see you and others smirk and proclaim walker is toast -- you have been wrong every other time and you are dead-wring now.

(And ask capper how the walkergate speculation, expecially the "dumpster 'o fun" turned out).

walker isn't the only repug in the field that will boast about boots in the ground -- this is what all chickenhawks do.

You are reading too much into this and proclaiming anyone at disney's abc is a real reporter doesn't help.

Warmongering is very popular with the teabaggin' rubes and walker's stated strategy is the 50% plus one.

His cousin (yes - they are in fact cousins) george WALKER bush stole 2 elections, so scott walker can steal 2016 too.

Remember, just like 2000, there will be a lame-duck in the White House -- so don't expect the justice department to do anything about massive voter disenfranchisement and outright election fraud.

If the powers that be want scott walker -- 2016 is the year they will do it. This attitude that somehow walker has finally jumped the shark isn't helpful and it has been wrong every other time it has been uttered here and elsewhere.

It is precisely because walker is such a distraction from those behind him and the radical agenda they seek to impose that walker is an ideal koch toad.

    2. Funny comment, you talk about outright election fraud, show the proof, back that statement up with documented proof of widespread election fraud that would change the outcome of any election. Walker is an idiot who can't even run a state let alone the country!

    3. I agree with the original comments. Gerrymandering and less time at the polls for voting help to keep sizable repub majorities in Wisconsin. But even so, we can wish him to go away, and yet he won three elections. GW had plenty of stupid moments and he was President for eight years. It's disquieting.

    4. Disappointing ? Have you been sleeping the last four years?

    5. Let's just say he was no electrifying genius yesterday. His opposition to the Obama doctrine: (Let them all kill each other for awhile while we sit out the sectarian violence) means he is advocating sending our troops into conflict and therefore, reinserting us into wars that only boost the recruitment of our enemies. If that's how he feels and is comfortable joining the Neocon bench, that's fine. But he will not win an election with that mindset. It would be nice if any of these rethuglican clowns felt like waging war on BEHALF of the middle class. They are bereft of ideas and as for yesterday, I want to kiss Martha Raddatz for pursuing a direct line through the usual talking points.Walker was pretty much a babbling fool. She wouldn't allow a Fox News moment and she is to be commended. I don't underestimate any of them. I just don't like them and I think their policies (whatever they are) show their allegiance to the oligarchs and the corporations.

  2. Capper- you hit on the big story. This guy can't answer anything if his talking points are challenged, and the only reason he's survived this long is because the "legit" Wisconsin media and the lame Dem
Party leadership don't put him on the spot.

If I was DPW leadership, I'd get the message, and hammer relentlessly. I'm not counting on the corporate Wisconsin media to do it...yet

  3. I watched that interview and completely agree with 'anonymous' above. I am rabidly anti-Scott Walker but his answers to Martha Raddatz's questions are exactly what most Americans want to hear/believe....

  4. Anyone who watched Walker's debates with Mary Burke saw, in living color, how pathetic Walker is when he has to think on his feet.
Since he's now posturing to the red-state crowd with red-meat rhetoric about "boots on the ground" I'd like to see someone ask him the following question: "Since you favor ground troop intervention, if you were president, would you encourage your teenage sons to volunteer for military combat duty?"

    1. You saw that in the first debate. The second one was loaded with Scotty's fellow white male oligarchs from Milwaukee.

Watch what happens when he has to face real questions and analysis from people who aren't told by the boss to help him out. In the meantime, we should be ripping back the curtain on what's really been happening here, instead of having them rely on Walker/ JournalComm spin and talking points.

    2. I agree he is not the sharpest knife in the drawer and when Hillary gets him on the debate stage without a ear piece should be something to watch he will go down in flames and NEVER return

  5. More of our Governor Bumper Sticker Talking Points! It is great to see him called out like this!

  6. His comment "I wouldn’t bet against me on anything" is more likely to do him in.

Cheating and breaking the law to win (Scott Walker running his gubernatorial campaign out of his county executive office on the taxpayer's time, and soliciting and accepting pay to play donations from the Gogebic mining company during his recall campaign) doesn't make Scott Walker a winner in anyone's book, be they Republican or Democrat.

  7. As long as the Democrats run the same "here's our candidate, let us know if she wins..." then Scott Walker is as viable a candidate as any dystopian the TeaGOP decides on. And to further clarify - Our next president (and perhaps or last) will be one of the Republicans provided the DNC doesn't get brilliant in all ways very quickly. There is a tide of dolts who hate this country vying for the honor of pressing the 'self-destruct' button. Stop focusing on the dolts and start focusing on the tide. It's not about the individual running, it's about the team that employs them as each of the TeaGOP candidates froths wild-eyed at the opportunity to deliver the heads of a once great people at the feet of their masters - master who are fairly confident their moment has arrived.

    1. Well said. We seem to be using up precious resources to battle the "Great and Powerful OZ" instead of pulling back that curtain. You want to peak behind that curtain, just follow the money!

  8. A question for Walker's defenders here: Did you re-elect him to be governor, or to run for president?

  9. Walker, Walker double talker.

  10. In his interview on ABC's "This Week", Scott Walker said "we can't ignore the laws of this country".

What about the laws that prohibit using state resources (staff, equipment and time) to run a personal campaign, or the laws that prohibit "pay-to-play", or the laws that prohibit coordinating donations with one's political campaign?

  11. Nothing is worse for us as a country than to have a Chickenhawk in the head office ready and willing to risk our troops for every stupid whim. He can sign his kids up to lead the charge into battle. He couldn't find most of these countries if they put maps in front of him. A good reporter should have him show off his geographical knowledge.

  12. A lot of people have underestimated Walker for several years now. He knows exactly what he is saying who he is talking to. He's certainly not talking to people who think logically, have a good command of the complex situations, and believe in grounding policy in reliable information based on facts. He's talking to the Fox crowd. He doesn't care if he infuriates people. If you are infuriated by him, he will simply call you a liberal and dismiss you as irrelevant. Wisconsin voters elected him now three times. He has benefitted from the outrage and public demonstrations. I am as outraged and infuriated as anyone, but I will not underestimate Walker and his handlers again.

    1. Agree that Walker is speaking only to ignoramuses in bubble-world, but his problem is that the national media doesn't have the vested interest in this guy like the Wisconsin media does. As a result, they (and Walker's GOP primary opponents) won't let this guy's lies, cluelessness and cronyism go by.

Combine that with the fact that you need to get the votes of more than 30% of American adults to win a presidential-year election, and Walker is a very limited candidate on a national level. He wouldn't even carry Wisconsin in November 2016, just like how he's lost Milwaukee County by more than 20% in all 3 Guv elections

  13. The only way this bafoon gets into the White House is because Charles Koch bought it for him. Look, it isn't a secret that Walker is not an intellectual. Walker can't think for himself and just regurgitates the same talking points over and over. Walker's laser like focus on Reagan crossed over to creepy obsession years ago. Walker behaves sociopathically. He may even believe that he is Reagan re-born. The fact that people keep voting for this bafoon is what concerns me more. Give this guy power of the Presidency and his fascist policies will destroy America as we know it. Maybe America needs to fall hard to wake up and vote with common sense. When President Walker gets through decimating the middle class and gas & food become too expensive - how will you survive then? Incomes have been stagnant the last 40 years & 1/2 of the nations wealth is concentrated in 80 people's hands. Walker repealed fair pay for women. How are you single Moms going to survive? Walker will empower corporations, restrict regulations, errode funding to watcdog groups and stack boards with executive donors. You think you have rights? Welcome to corporate serfdom. No government safety net. Maybe the end of Medicare & Medicaid. How will you survive? Ask your

  14. Finally someone asked Scott Walker some tough follow-up questions - thank you Martha Raddatz!

Now the national media is taking notice -- a must read from Forbes contributor Rick Ungar: http://www.forbes.com/sites/rickungar/2015/02/02/scott-walker-presidential-bid-self-destructs-on-abcs-this-week/
