The Walker Work Ethic

By Jeff Simpson

Scott Walker recently said his proposed massive budget cuts to the UW System, could be offset if only Professors would work harder.
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, defending proposed budget cuts for higher education, took a swipe at university professors who he said could be “teaching more classes and doing more work.”
“Maybe it’s time for faculty and staff to start thinking about teaching more classes and doing more work and this authority frees up the [University of Wisconsin] administration to make those sorts of requests,” Walker (R)said Wednesday on Milwaukee radio station WTMJ.
The best leaders, lead by example, so our friends at One Wisconsin Now, wanted to see what kind of example that Scott Walker was leading:

According to a review of records obtained through the state open records law:
  • Gov. Walker used a state car on at least 365 days to get to partisan political events between January 2011 and August 2014;
  • Particularly heavy campaign reimbursements of $16,000 for use of state car between March and June 2012
  • Total spending by Walker for using a state car for his personal political activity is over $66,000 through August of 2014.
Ross noted that while it was Gov. Walker’s divisive policies that triggered a recall election, his use of state resources to campaign in Wisconsin was also very heavy in the lead up to the 2012 Presidential election. Walker used a state car for political purposes 23 days in October 2012.

The travel records do not include out-of-state travel. According to a review of Gov. Walker’s campaign finance records by U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan, Walker has spent nearly $1 million to charter jets to travel across the country to shake down donors from New York to California and everywhere in between to further his own political fortunes.

Now that Scott Walker has been re-elected to Governor and does not have to face a recall election, he can settle down and actually do the hard work of governing the great State of Wisconsin right?

And Scott Walker closed with a promise: "I'm going to come back(to Iowa) many more times in the future."

Well I guess, with today's technology, he can complain about how lazy Wisconsinites are from anywhere in the country.

  1. Scott Walker is not lazy, he is driven to achieve his personal agenda...mostly in a state vehicle.

  2. 1) It takes many hours to prepare an hour long lecture. Teaching work takes more time than is spent just delivering lectures. Office hours and grading take time also.

    2) Professors bring money into the university with their research grants. University overhead/operating costs is a shockingly large item in all grants. These grants take time to write and fund research that takes time to do.

    3) Learning from and working with professors involved in cutting-edge research is one of the benefits of attending an excellent university.

  3. Walker wants all of you serfs to get to work. He has much bigger and bolder things to accomplish that your little minds couldn't understand. That is why Walker is in such a powerful position - he took a chance like Ronnie did when he fired the air traffic controllers and made Russia quiver in their boots. Walker rammed Act 10 down teacher's throats, threatened to "fire" teachers if they didn't cooperate, threw some annoying grandmas off of SeniorCare, denied Obamacare in order to pay millions under the radar to local hospitals (donors) for caring for uninsured, and now he is making UW restructure to a school of trades and not of learning. Yes... learning has a place in life... don't know when but we need to start making our corporate slaves earlier in the production line. We need to indoctrinate them in primary "school" so when they finally get to UW - they are programmed and ready to fight for Mordor.
