Walker Pawning Off More Responsibilities

A reader and friend of Cog Dis pointed out to me an article by the Business Journal which reports that Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker is in talks with Mayor Tom Barrett of the City of Milwaukee to negotiate the County selling off their interest in the Park East development corridor.

This may surprise some of my readers, but I actually think this is a good thing. Walker had hired incompetent cronies that had only produced 1/28th of the income for the County that was expected of them. And as the article reports, the City has a much better track record of getting things done, while the County Exec and the County Board waste their time in spitting matches.

In other news, though, Ken Mobile, another friend of Cog Dis, has found that the Appleton Post Crescent has taken the liberty of releasing the cat out of the cellophane bag, and report Walker to be a candidate for governor. (And just for the insight impaired, I don't think it's official. It's just an easier way of stating things.)

  1. Oh this would be really really good news. The City has the staff and knowledge to handle these kinds of projects..... Lets hope this happens. Though I'm not sure the City can pony up the cash right now....

  2. What's Walker going to run for Governor on? Saying to the rest of the state: "I'm your guy; you can count on it. Look how much damage I did in Milwaukee over the past eight years! I know how much you hate Milwaukee people riding buses, enjoying parks, collecting welfare and government pensions, sucking up your taxpayer dollars. You want to bury Milwaukee. So do I. I proved we can do it as their county exec. But the job is only just begun. Count on me as your governor to finish the job."

  3. If he's destroyed Milw. the past 8 years, how do you explain him winning in the elections? Especially given the fact that he is a republican? Hmmm . . . take off the blinders perhaps?

  4. Actually, the number of people that voted for him last year is almost 30% less than 2004. How do you explain that?

  5. Don't need to, he's still winning by sizable margins in a liberal county. How do you explain that?

  6. Don't need to. He's down to what any Republican can get in MKE county. How do you explain that.
