Scottholm Syndrome

By Jeff Simpson

Rebeccaforreal posted this on her facebook page:

It's a small wonder the Governor's message is resonating across the country: what a study in contrasts...as our president vetoes the Keystone XL Pipeline, killing the creation of thousands of new jobs, here in Wisconsin our State Senate votes "Right to Work" legislation out of committee, moving our state into position to create thousands of new jobs. What a difference 852 miles can make.

To which someone left this comment:

Shari Pes----------wski: God has blessed us with a governor who cares about the citizens and not big businesses.

In case you think your eyes have deceived you let me post that again:

Shari Pes----------wski: God has blessed us with a governor who cares about the citizens and not big businesses.

There really are no words and there really is no hope for WI.

Slickster Scott Walker Panders To Big Oil

As is his wont, Scott Walker sent out his almost weekly e-newsletter on Friday.

Most of it was filled with his vacation photos as he started selling hunks of the state to China.  At the end of the newsletter, he made a boast almost as egregious as his promise to create 250,000 jobs:

This week, I urged Secretary of State John Kerry to move swiftly on the expansion of the Keystone Pipeline.  The expansion of the pipeline is our chance to have a new North American energy source.  Expanding the pipeline will produce 830,000 barrels of oil per day, which will have an enormously positive economic impact.
In addition, if the pipeline is approved in a timely manner, countless jobs in the United States stand to be created.  Wisconsin has an opportunity to benefit from this job growth.
Wow! What a guy, looking out for us like that.

But there is a few snags to Walker's hope.

He apparently got the number of jobs the pipeline will create from MacIver.  The truth is that the pipeline will create only 35 permanent and 15 temporary jobs.  And does anyone really think that those few jobs will be in Wisconsin, much less filled by Wisconsinites?

What the pipeline will bring us is more CO2 every year, more than could be produced by 37.7 million cars or 51 coal plants.

And it will make the pipeline burst in Jackson look like spilled milk.  Who wouldn't want their home to look like those in Arkansas?

At least a spill from the pipeline wouldn't cause health risks, right? Well, no.

It's pretty obvious that Walker is only pushing that because he's pandering to the deep pockets of Big Oil and Big Energy.

After all, if he's going to have even the remotest chance of being president, it's gonna take a helluva lot of money to cover up things like his crappy job numbers, his role in Walkergate and his lack of a college education.
