Paul Ryan Builds A Wall - And We All Pay

By Jeff Simpson

H/T Teen Vogue(seriously):

Paul Ryan, who ducked all debates with his Democratic Opponent Ryan Solen, decided spending millions in his district to get re-elected to his heavily gerrymandered seat, has decided to tell us what he stands for AFTER the election.

Ryan has come out now and said he plans to defund Planned Parenthood.

House Speaker Paul Ryan said Thursday that Republicans would slash federal dollars for Planned Parenthood as part of the GOP effort to repeal the health care law.

Of course the incredible benefits and importance of what Planned Parenthood actually does is another blog altogether.  I want to focus on Paul Ryan's cowardice here.   The guy who would not debate his opponents, or even campaign in his district (because people knew who he was), first order of business (well second, his first order of business was to try and gut the nonpartisan ethics watchdog agency) was to do something he never once campaigned on.

In our Constitutionally limited representative democracy, how it is supposed to work, is people who want to serve the public good, lay out their positions when they run for office.  Then voters know who each person is and vote according to the people who best represent their views.

In our current version of something we call a democracy, we get inundated with millions of dolalrs of smear ads, poor press and celebrity worshiping and end up with politicians who campaign one way and govern completely opposite.

In our Constitutionally limited representative democracy, when your representatives are not representing you, you organize via getting together with friends or like minded people, and/or starting a petition to get the voice of many people in a short time and/or go speak with your representative and try and reason with them.

Planned Parenthood decided to do the petition and deliver it personally to attempt to reason with Paul Ryan (R-Wall St.)  A few dozen women, armed in pink Planned Parenthood logoed T-shirts, were sure they could visit the Speaker of the House, the third most powerful position in Government, and explain to him that the Government does not actually fund Planned Parenthood(along with delivering their petitions with close to 100,000 signatures).

The thing is, the federal government doesn’t actually “fund” Planned Parenthood. There’s no big check or bag of money that goes to the reproductive and sexual healthcare provider and their affiliate clinics throughout the country each year. Rather, the federal funds that do go to Planned Parenthood all happen in the form of reimbursements for services rendered through Medicaid, the federal and state program that provides health insurance to the working poor, and Title X, the federal family planning program for low-income Americans. Furthermore, because of the Hyde Amendment passed in 1976, no federal funding can in any way go toward abortion services; abortion is the only medical procedure explicitly banned from Medicaid coverage.
Of course  the guy who "opposed" Trump, and is good friends with this guy:

Decided that he was so secure in his argument that the best way to address a few dozen ladies in pink shirts, was to hide.   Not only did he hide, he spent a ton of  taxpayer money to do just that.

These are the women he is scared of:

Paul Ryan built his own wall, but this one was to keep fellow Americans and constituents out.   Paul Ryan called in 6 security officers to guard the doors to his office and shield Congressman Ryan from hearing any information that would not square up with pleasing his corporate masters.

This is the scene of his office that needed taxpayer funded security called for:

Be prepared on January 29th, we will be part of the proverbial snowball, with you know who steering:

Paul Ryan: Profiles In Cowardice

By Jeff Simpson

Paul Ryan (R- Wall St.) is currently not only Speaker of the House, and a career politician, and has also (mis)represented the 1st Congressional District since 1999.   Mr. Ryan is also respected as a nice guy and Uniter.

Just ask him:

"What really bothers me the most about politics these days is this notion of identity politics: that we’re going to win an election by dividing people, rather than inspiring people on our common humanity and our common ideals and our common culture on the things that should unify us. We all want to be prosperous. We all want to be healthy. We want everybody to succeed. We want people to reach their potential in their lives. "Now, liberals and conservatives are going to disagree with one another on that. No problem. That’s what this is all about. "So let’s have a battle of ideas. Let’s have a contest of whose ideas are better and why our ideas are better."  Paul Ryan (R-$350 Bottles of win).
Today, in Mukwonago, WI, Paul Ryan had a chance to put his money where his mouth is.  To show true leadership in a battle of ideas and discuss differing philosophies.   Today Paul Ryan had a great opportunity to rise above the hate.

Today Paul Ryan massively failed when handed that opportunity!

This from the rally:

Yes Paul why did you not answer your supporters question?   Where is Lee Harvey Oswald when you need someone to assassinate the President?   It was nice of the person yelling that question, to yell loud enough so we could all hear him(and no way you did not hear him) over the calls of Bill Clinton is a rapist and put Hillary in jail.

If there is a better 30 seconds that shows exactly why someone is unfit to hold elected office, I have not seen it.   Paul Ryan has proven himself to be a lightweight and a coward and someone in his position, not stepping up in a leadership role, could lead to serious danger, trouble and people being hurt.

We can stop that on Tuesday by sending Ryan Solen to Congress.    Here is his website and please "like" his facebook page.

Ryan Solen is a veteran who wants to serve the first Congressional district.   Mr. Solen has the courage, ethics and conviction that we need in Washington DC and that is sorely lacking from the incumbent!

Paul Ryan - Where Are You?

By Jeff Simpson

Ryan Solen is the Democratic candidate for the 1st Congressional District in Wisconsin.  He is challenging some guy you may have heard of  - Paul Ryan (R-Wall St.).    However, Mr. Ryan who is currently the Speaker of the House(the third most powerful position in America), is ducking the debate.

While its an overplayed cliche, there is some ring of truth to it in terms of if you can't stand up to your political opponent in a moderated debate, how can you possible stand up to ISIS.

Ryan Solen has done all the leg work for a debate to happen from setting the time, securing the venue, etc.... now all he needs is Paul Ryan to actually respect the people of the 1st Congressional district and show up!

The following invite was delivered to Mr. Ryan's office recently:

                                                                                                                          October 18, 2016

Dear Mr. Speaker,

My name is Ryan Solen and I am your Democratic opponent. I have been attempting to contact you since we each won our primaries in August as I would like to engage with you in that great American campaign tradition: a debate. I have decided to make it easy for you and have set one up. All you need to do is attend.

I have booked Blackhawk Technical College, located in your hometown of Janesville at 6004 South County Road G, for October 29 from 2PM to 4PM. The room holds up to 250 people and will be open to the public. Mike Daly, host of the Daly Show on WBEL “The Big AM” 1380 is set to moderate and the station will broadcast the debate live. Additional media will be invited and may broadcast or record the event. I will be happy to meet with you or your representative ahead of time to discuss the debate format.

Please RSVP by October 28 at 5PM, the day before the debate. I know you are very busy and I want to give you plenty of time to get your schedule set to include this debate. You can contact my Chief of Staff, Lauren Young, to RSVP by phone at 404-788-8096 or by email at lyoung@solenforcongress.com.

Looking forward to a great debate with you!

Sincerely,

Ryan Solen

Let's hope that Mr. Ryan has the respect for our democratic process to show up and debate.

In the meantime, Mr. Solen can use some help.   Send him a few bucks or a couple hours of your time.   You can reach him via his facebook page or his website!   Watch his Wisconsin Eye interview here.

My name is Ryan Solen. I am a husband, father of four children as well as an Iraq war veteran, and former Army officer. I am well versed in how to get tasks accomplished, regardless of who I may be working with. At one point in my life, I swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. That oath has not changed, nor has it expired. I am more concerned with what is right than what will get me re-elected. I made a commitment that I would not accept funds from corporations, organizations, or PACs. Votes are not to be bought. They should be earned. I believe our leadership and our representatives should be held to a higher standard. Some of the things that I believe will help us the most:
• Balance the budget and pay-off the national debt to put the ~$260 Billion in interest payments to better use.
• Universal health care to ensure a healthy and productive population.
• Investment in our crumbling infrastructure.
• Reform university tuition and student loan regulations.
• Revise and simplify the tax code.
• Protect Social Security; raise the taxable income cap on it, and prevent any privatization of the system.
• Strict term limits on the Senate and the House of Representatives.
