I Will Not Give You Healthcare Sam I Am...

By Jeff Simpson

"This is like taking a history class from Abbott and Costello." - Charlie Pierce on Cruz's "filibuster".

Tonight, Ted Cruz is taking part in an historic fake filibuster.  It is as fake as the grassroots portion of "tea" party.  The Canadian Cowboy is so adamanat that you do not have healthcare, that he has labeled anyone who thinks that Obamacare should not be defunded(most of the nation) as "nazi appeasers".

This is the guy that the really far right wing of the republican party holds up as some sort of Canadian super hero:

Check out what minor league right wing talk show host Tony Katz had to say about Mr. Canada:

We are witnessing our Republic in action. Thoughtful questions, honest answers, total transparency. No wonder @joanwalsh hates it. #DefundIt

I know your curious as to the wonder, that Northstar was giving the nation:

Yes the hero to the right, is reading a story written by a true progressive about the idiocy of someone who is so stubborn all he can do is say no.

"Every time Ted Cruz talks about Christianity an angel coughs up blood."  John Fugelsang
John Stewart couldn't pass up a shot at Cruz either:

At least John McCain likes him!  So does Peter King.

Margaret Thatcher

By Jeff Simpson

Margaret Hilda Thatcher, Baroness Thatcher, LG, OM, PC, FRS (née Roberts, 13 October 1925 – 8 April 2013) was a British Conservative Party politician who was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990 and the Leader of the Conservative Party from 1975 to 1990. She was the longest-serving British Prime Minister of the 20th century and is the only woman to have held the office. A Soviet journalist called her the "Iron Lady", a nickname that became associated with her uncompromising politics and leadership style. As Prime Minister, she implemented policies that have come to be known as Thatcherism.

Baroness Thatcher passed away yesterday and boy were the righties sad....from the ridiculous to the  incredibly misinformed!  Unfortunately for the world, and the British, the woman that the righties memorialized, never existed(like so many of their heroes)!

The AFP Steal Our Kids Money Tour!

The Americans for Prosperity Poverty recently did a little tour around the state telling us why they wanted to take our children's education money.  Here is a recap of their stop in Beloit, WI.  Unfortunately it was written by a stenographer who either didn't want to ask questions, or wasn't allowed.   Since this reporter dropped the ball....allow us here @cog_dis to pick it up and run with it!

* Kristi Lacroix makes $74,000 a year which is more than anyone in our district or Janesville's district.  What is she in the top 5% of teachers paid in the state? i guess the union really screwed her over!

* I wonder how much @afp-wisconsin pays her to run around to these things.

*  More from Kristi:
She said schools afraid of competition should get it together or get out of the business of education. And she doesn’t accept excuses of kids not performing well because they are poor or come from bad homes.
 - Schools are NOT a business, there is no profit margin, Schools are an INVESTMENT!

 -  Secondly, to dismiss poverty as a factor in learning  shows you do not know how to google, or you are being paid to not Google.

* more Kristi:   "Stressing that the best teachers won’t lose their jobs in the event of expanded school choice,..."
               - Without Collective bargaining agreements and the redefinition of "just cause", what do you base that on?

* finally with Kristi;   “I’ll save you tons of money. Let me watch the best teachers in the state,” LaCroix said. “When school choice really opens up in Wisconsin, it’s not going to be to suburban schools, it’s going to be to successful schools who invested in their teachers.

-Well one thing Kristi, we as a school district are only able to "invest in the teachers" up to the CPI and not a penny more!  I will give you a break on that one as I am sure that economics is not your strong suit and you obviously have no idea what ACT 10 says.

*   Next comes Tony Katz, who they flew in from out of state(for some reason) then put together a false video for him to show and get the blame for(with friends like @AFPWI , who needs enemies?).

Katz played a video presenting statistics, including a claim that “51 percent of Beloit schools were failing,” which prompted Beloit Superintendent Steve McNeal to interject that the claim was false.

* We only get a few glimpses of AFP director Luke Hulgemann;

 - “We believe that competition drives innovation and results for all children,” Wisconsin State Director of AFP Luke Hilgemann said. “We need better results. We are falling behind other states and other countries.”

-  (speaking to the false video)  Hilgemann said the statement comes from reading the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) report card. In October the report cards indicated that School District of Beloit has seven of its 14 schools meeting or exceeding expectations, and half of the schools in the district meeting fewer expectations.

Yet we get enough to know that Hilgemann is NOT the sharpest pencil in the box, but probably plays the role of stooge for his Masters very well!

Kudos to those who showed up to bring sanity to this parade of propaganda, but it appears that people actually spoke up and said "thanks but no thanks" to the AFP snake oil!

Some attendees voiced concern over the images shown, and what they considered to be exaggerated claims.
Parent Rick McGrath noted the images shown weren’t from Beloit.
“Images can be very powerful. Those were very dour and provocative photos. You’re casting the wrong impression of my community,” McGrath said.
McGrath said Beloit just passed its $70 million referendum and hasn’t had time to act out its plan yet.
Teacher Kathleen Woodman said she felt hurt by the video, and said it implied the School District of Beloit is failing, which she rejected.
“I want choices for our kids, but we also must speak about public education with honest facts,” Woodman said.

Finally, local rep Amy Loudenbeck showed up and realized that this is a losing proposition distanced her self from it(also obviously trying to pretend that the mess the republicans made when they rammed through the 18 of ACT10, which she proudly voted for): :

Loudenbeck said she would like to see a parental choice debate focused on the children and families that could benefit from school choice and private school vouchers, without targeting individual school or district performance.
“I realize that may be difficult, but I am willing to work with community members to continue a respectful and open discussion on this issue,” Loudenbeck said.

With such a false and sloppy presentation, do we really want these people in charge of educating our children???

Astroturf in Action!

This weekend the koch brother's front group Americans for Poverty held their rally in Racine over the weekend. As we have pointed out here, The well funded Kochster's have brouht in busloads of out of state agitator's, (and they pay these out of state dead ender's well)!!

They also brought in a group of D-list celebrities to speak for them and "fire" up the crowd. These "celebrities" come in and attempt to tell the people of WI, how great Scott Walker's "reforms" are while they live as far away from WI as they can. This years out of state celebrities were Dana Loesch and Tony Katz( I would link to them, but even Google has never heard of them).

Then they brought in a couple of speakers reportedly from Wisconsin. The great thing about these speakers at the "tea party" rally s that they have spent their whole career engaging in everything the "tea party" has said they were formed to fight. Yet the "tea party" faithful cheered them on Saturday? Are the two Wisconsinites charlatans or is the "tea party" just a branch of the republican party(my vote is a little of both). The first speaker was double dipper Van Wanggaard who likes to collect two state pensions while working to end others. Then the hero of the day was the champion of Medicare Part D, Wall St. bailout, and the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars(off the books) Paul "hey big government spender" Ryan (R - Wall St.) I wonder how many $350 bottle of wine were promised to Ryan to lure him back to WI?

I also wanted to give special attention to the ultimate out of state agitator and vermin Tim Phillips. Tim Phillips is the koch brothers stooge and you will have to look far and wide to find a human being more disgusting than he is. Here is a great rundown of Phillips.

So lets take a better look at the crowd. Why did they have to have this rally in Racine? easy access for the busloads of Illinois people coming up from Chicago! Then Fox news ran a story showing us the exact differences. While the Barrett campaign and those on the left, have actual grass roots and Wisconsin people power and boots on the ground, armed with a clipboard and pen.

What does the Walker campaign have(besides paid out of state agitators) As Fox News itself reports "Americans for Prosperity Poverty has supplied their workers with "cell phones, dialing software, a bus that has been traveling the state, Ipads, and tablets with campaigning software, and their own media machine. Astroturf in Action.

Do we want a few out of state agitators and billionaires deciding Wisconsin's future or do wewant the people of WI to be able to govern themselves?

We know what the Founding Fathers wanted, what will the people of WI chose?
