The West Bend Wave

By Jeff Simpson

Once again, West Bend made national news, challenging "Florida man" for biggest the Darwin Awards.

Let's rewind a bit first.  The Guardian decided to follow The Donald around the country to his "I Love Me" rallies and assigned a different emotion to each rally they attended.  The emotion they assigned to the WI rally (where Scott Walker, Leah Vukmir, Paul Ryan, et al spoke), was HATE.

On the morning of the fourth rally, the outside world blasts its way into Trumpland. Shortly after 10am, as CNN anchors are telling their viewers about a series of pipe bombs mailed to the Clintons, the Obamas and to George Soros, they have to rush off air because the network has received its own explosive device.
At the same time, Jacob Spaeth and three of his buddies are lining up in a field in Mosinee, Wisconsin. They are all wearing the same distinctive red T-shirt. It bears a cartoon sketch of a smiling Trump urinating profusely over the CNN logo.
Today, after the CNN pipe bomb became headline news, a merchant says he’s sold about 15 of them in quick succession at $20 each.
Spaeth, a 19-year-old college student, doesn’t want to comment on the bombs. But he’s happy to discuss CNN.
“It’s not just CNN, it’s the whole media. They are very unfair to Trump. They’re manipulating kids, telling them that Trump is a horrible guy and that he wants bad things.”
Spaeth never watches CNN – he occasionally sees clips of it on Facebook. He gets his information from Infowars, the website of Alex Jones. Jones, a conspiracy theorist, is on the record as saying 9/11 was a government set-up and that the 2012 Newtown school shooting in which 20 children were killed was fabricated. Within hours he will be broadcasting that this week’s pipe bombs are also a hoax.
Spaeth embodies one of the most puzzling aspects of my week in Trumpland. Throughout the five rallies, I talk to scores of people, all of whom, without exception, are welcoming and pleasant. Yet hours later, in the pressure-cooker of the rally, they will turn on me and my mainstream media colleagues and hurl insults at us.
Spaeth admits that when he went to a Trump rally in Minnesota last month he took part in the finger-jabbing and the chanting of “CNN sucks”. It made him feel happy to be able to express his feelings so openly among like-minded folk. “I don’t see it as bullying,” he says.
There’s only one explanation for this pattern of behavior: that Trump enables good, civil Americans to metamorphose into media baiters. “Those people, fake news,” the president says sneeringly at almost every rally, pointing to the caged pen where reporters are cooped up during his speeches.
It’s a trigger mechanism: as soon as he says it, the chants begin. “CNN sucks! CNN sucks!” Many of the people chanting are also laughing – it’s that humor thing again. But CNN is taking no chances: they bring private security guards to every rally.
Tonight, he talks about the need to “bring our nation together”. It’s an extraordinarily cordial message coming from him. But listen closer. His call to unity is in fact a veiled attack on his political enemies.
In the name of “peace and harmony”, he tells politicians to stop treating their opponents – for which read Trump – as “morally defective”, and he references the “mob” – for which read Democrats. Remarkably, he is actually mocking the very concept of national unity while calling for it.
But wait there is more, there is always more.  Also attending the rally in Mosinee, was  Steve Spaeth from West Bend.  The hometown of Owen Robinson( who thanks to guys like Spaeth, the moral he pushes for is improving).

Spaeth was more than happy to give an interview!

Tonight in Wisconsin, the crowd are focused on only one thing – hearing their leader. It includes Steve Spaeth (no relation), 40, who runs a home exteriors company in West Bend. I ask him who he regards as his political enemies, and whether “hate” is too strong a word.
“Not at all,” he says. “I have a deep and absolute disgust for these human beings.”
Which ones?
He rattles off CNN, Soros, Clinton, Waters, Booker, “Pocahontas” AKA Elizabeth Warren, and others.
Why do you hate them?
“They want to turn America into a socialistic country. It’s disgusting.”
I ask Spaeth how far he is prepared to take his hatred. In reply, he tells a story. The other day he talked to his sister, who is liberal and votes Democratic. He said to her: “If there is a civil war in this country and you were on the wrong side, I would have no problem shooting you in the face.”
You must be joking, I say.
“No I am not. I love my sister, we get on great. But she has to know how passionate I am about our president.”

Yes Mr. West Bend (does that statement qualify him for Mayor now) will shoot his sister in the face if this guy tells him too:

I highly recommend anyone that is mesmerized with the Donald and the current GOP spend an hour and watch this old 70's movie The Wave.

Dr, Phillip Zombardo,  the Stanford professor best known for his famous 1971 prison experiment, feels the answer lies in what people are willing to do to go from a feeling of powerlessness to one of being empowered.   “For most people it’s an awful lot,” remarks Dr. Zimbardo.  “People will transgress a lot of personal values to step across the line.”

Please do not stay home this election, we need to stop this dangerous crap before it gets out of control and lunatics like Spaeth actually start shooting people.

Vote on Tuesday!   Vote blue and if you can not bring yourself to do that, vote libertarian or write in ...we need to change out those in power badly.

A Turkey In West Bend And For Once It Wasn't Owen Robinson

My mind automatically goes to Owen Robinson whenever I hear the words turkey and West Bend in the same sentence.  For once, it wasn't him:
On Sunday afternoon, residents of a home in the Town of West Bend heard a "commotion" from inside an upstairs bedroom.

They cracked open the door and were startled to see a turkey on the bed.

The homeowners called sheriff's deputies, who arrived five minutes later to find the turkey "destroying" the bedroom, according to a popular post on the department's Facebook page.

The turkey had broken through a second-story window. Deputies had a "plan to safely take the bird into custody without knocking the stuffing out of it," wrapped the bird in a blanket and took it outside.

"Although the deputies suspected fowl play, the turkey was released from custody with no charges," officials joked in the Facebook post.
Then again, on second thought, maybe it was.

The Great White Con

By Jeff Simpson

By now you have probably heard that The Donald made another appearance in Wisconsin. This time he came here for a reason, Mr. Trump came here to make a plea to African American Voters that he was the right one for them to vote for.

"I'm asking for the vote of every African-American citizen struggling in our country today who wants a different and much better future,
The problem with Mr. Trumps speech, was he came here to address African Americans and did it from the safe haven of 99% white West Bend.  The area that has given us not on Bob Gannon (R-Grand Wizard), but also sent Glenn Grothman (R-Mommys Basement) to Washington DC.   I know Louie Gohmert has been lonely but we did not need to send him his spirit animal.  Anyway I digress.....

The venue was so white that even Scott Walker, Reince Priebus and Sean Duffy (R-Stripper) felt safe enough to actually show their faces.  Realizing the room was so white, they had to wear shades, they all jumped on and took their turns Trumpeting Trump.

As we know here in COGDIS land there is more, there is always more.

While Trump came to West Bend to court the African American vote.....(let that simmer for just a bit).....Trump also had another objective.   The Donald wanted to show his support for the police officers in wake of the mess over the weekend in Milwaukee.

As if irony was not already flowing like beer at a Bill Kramer grope party, Donald, with a completely straight face added to it.   The Donald chose someone who was the target of TWO(thats one more than one for the RW subscribers), criminal investigations introduce him to give a speech about following the law.

Yes, we have sources that have told us you could see the irony from the Space Station.

However amazing the speeches were to the sparse monochromatic crowd, they did not seem to get it.
"People up here don't really care about what's going on in Milwaukee," said Jared Gagnon-Palick of West Bend, as he stopped to buy a Trump button in the parking lot after the rally.
  1. "I grew up in Milwaukee, and I moved here to get away from all the crime with three little kids," he said.
PSSS...Jared  ixnay on the hiteway lightfay.... at least until after election day.

But wait there is more....The Trump/Walker/Duffy/Grothman fantastic four reached this guy

Jack Beck, 65, a retired bricklayer who lives in West Bend, said he planned to vote for Mr. Trump and did not blame him for making a low-key stop in Milwaukee, given the city’s racial tensions.
“Every night in Milwaukee, there is someone being shot, and they make nothing of that until a cop is involved, and then all of a sudden it’s always blamed on the cop,” said Mr. Beck, who added that he hoped West Bend’s black population would not increase. He tied much of the unrest in Milwaukee to his belief that black residents do not want to work hard and instead want to use police killings to get  handouts from the government.

“If somebody is killed, they think we owe them something,” Mr. Beck said. “I don’t want to seem racist or nothing, but the black heritage has been raised in a certain way that there’s no incentive to get out and work, because all of a sudden you have five kids and there are no dads around.”
Look for Jack Beck to play a major part in the Trump candidacy next time he fires half his staff.

I will be sure to tell my incredibly skilled, African American surgeon that his Heritage makes him lazy and he should "get out and work"...again I digress....

The great thing about Donald Trump is, there is no longer need for dog whistles.  As Mr Duffy says, Donald Trump is always right!

The only real problem that the fabulous four ran into was by the time the event was over, the souvenir stands had been picked through of all the good stuff!

If this is the African American  outreach of the Republican Party they should be ripe for the picking in November!   I wonder if they can find an even whiter area for the next time trump comes back to Wisconsin!

Racism Will Not Be Allowed * (Exceptions May Apply)

By Jeff Simpson

The University of Wisconsin- Madison has suspended the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity(SAE) for continually making racist slurs.

University of Wisconsin-Madison has suspended the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity through Nov. 1 after an investigation found chapter members repeatedly used racist, homophobic and anti-Semitic slurs, and then ostracized a black member who told them to stop, according to documents released by the university.

In other words, just another day in the office of Representative Bob Gannon (R-white hood movement).

With this suspension, the College Republicans at UW-Madison, are looking for a new place to have their headquarters.

Bob Gannon Knows (Nothing)

By Jeff Simpson

In the wake of yet another horrible mass shooting tragedy, where the shooter claimed nine victims and injured many others, it brought many people on both sides of the gun control debate out of the woodwork to offer their opinions.

One that stands out is Wisconsin State Rep. Bob Gannon (R-no one has ever heard of before), who posted this on his "official" facebook page.

Bob Gannon
October 2 at 8:48am

Real Gun Control
In the wake of the recent shootings at a junior college in Oregon, President Obama quickly stood at the podium and proclaimed that this is the fault of the N.R.A., and that we need stricter gun control legislation.
What Obama ignored was the testimony of the students and educators at the school that they were defenseless in this incident as the school was a “gun free” zone. This means that only criminals will possess personal protection at these locations, and the law abiding citizen is an easy target.Last week I joined other legislators at Yellowstone Lake State Park and took part in shooting sports at their beautiful firing range. This fantastic facility was built in conjunction with the Wisconsin D.N.R., a local shooting club, and that group the president blames for every gun toting criminal operating in our country, the N.R.A.
Rep. Gannon states that, “Yes, the group that the president blames every time something bad happens with a firearm is actually the group advocating and investing their dollars to train others in the safe usage of firearms.
Real gun control comes from a solid stance, a confident grip, and hours of practice preparing yourself in the event you’re put into a situation where a person with evil intents needs to be stopped. With practice, and less gun free zones, America will be a safer place”.

Raise your hand if this next sentence surprises you.  Bob Gannon has his facts completely wrong and has no idea what he is talking about.

But not only was UCC not a gun free zone by law, there were also people who brought guns onto campus at the time of the massacre.
John Parker Jr., a veteran and student at UCC, spoke with MSNBC and revealed that he was in a campus building with a concealed handgun when the shooting started. He suggested other students with him at the time were also carrying concealed handguns.

Oops....I am sure that Mr. Gannon, realizing that he was completely wrong in trying to make his right wing political, I love guns point, when the error of his statement was pointed out to him, he apologized and corrected it.

Wisconsin Rep. Bob Gannon (R-Slinger) said that he had based his statements on media accounts and the student handbook of Umpqua Community College, which he said discouraged students from carrying firearms.
"The first media reports made it that it was a gun-free zone," Gannon said. "So drop it, that's not the story."

Don't bother Bob Gannon, Bob Gannon knows what he knows and NO amount of those silly facts will ever get in the way of what he knows.

Besides as he says, while making light of the deaths of these college students:

Real gun control comes from a solid stance, a confident grip, and hours of practice preparing yourself in the event you’re put into a situation where a person with evil intents needs to be stopped. With practice, and less gun free zones, America will be a safer place”.

Luckily, for those of us, who do not live in the West Bend area, we can actually use Google to fact check his statements.

As a matter of fact, just recently in Houston, some poor guy without a gun, was being car jacked at a gas station.  Luckily for him, a nearby "Good Samaritan" with a gun, decided to get involved and promptly shot the victim in the head.

Houston police responded to a shooting call around 11:15 p.m. Saturday at a Valero gas station on Jensen Drive at Reid Street in north Houston. Officials say two men jumped another man in the gas station parking lot and took the victim's Chevrolet pickup truck. Police say a witness then pulled out a gun and began shooting at the suspects, accidentally hitting the carjacking victim in the head.
We all know how proud of this "Good Samaritan" we are, so I hope he stayed around to get his just rewards for being such a strong defender of the 2nd Amendment....

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he remains in stable condition. Police say the witness who shot at the suspects picked up shell casings and left the scene.

No thanks allowed, and not only does he hate crime he apparently also hates pollution.  What an heroic young man.

As readers of our blog know, but wait there is more.

As we see in a dateline investigation, after hours of training, the people being trained to only shoot the "bad guy" when being put in controlled, live experiments, were so nervous they could not unholster their gun and even shot the wrong people(again).

I guess maybe Bon Gannon needs to add a couple more steps to his regiment, on how he is going to protect the people of the great state of Wisconsin with his gun.

* solid stance
* a confident grip
* hours of practice
* Open your eyes
* Do not Pee your pants.

As always, sometimes life(and elected reps like Bon Gannon) are so ridiculous all you can do is make fun of them.   No one does that better than a comedian.

I do not think that Bob Gannon was purposefully lying, when he made this statement(although keeping it up on his facebook page and not apologizing are inexcusable), but he definitely takes the cake for ignorance.   Mr. Gannon brags about being a twin to Glenn Grothman.

Had an hour long meeting with Glenn Grothman today, following his public comments at Commerce State Bank. Glenn and I are two peas in pod when it comes to policy & politics.
We NEED to do better than to keep electing anti intellectuals like Mr. Gannon.

Here is Mr. Gannon, fresh off of putting all of his great ideas, from having such a strong grasp of the issues, in the trunk of his new red sports car.

Taxpayer Dollars Used To Support Sheriff Clarke's Pro-Gun Goons

On Wednesday, I reported about a gang of gun nuts called the U.S. Concealed Carry Association who was getting people from all around the country to call a few members of the Milwaukee County Board. The group made some false claims that the Board was going to attack people's Second Amendment rights and that they were trying to silence the voice of Sheriff David Clarke.

The thought of anyone silencing Clarke since he goes crying to talk radio every other day because some meanie pointed out his ridiculousness.  Heck, WISN-AM has even given him his own air time to rant and rave about how people keep accusing him of ranting and raving.

The resolution in question simply would keep Clarke and all other elected Milwaukee County officials from using taxpayer dollars to put up campaign ads. If Clarke wanted to do his campaign ads, he'd have to pay for them.  If he wanted to do a serious public service announcement, he could do that, as long as he wasn't in it.

Besides getting the issue wrong, these Goons for Guns also missed the hearing date by at least two months and also had problems just figuring out which governmental body they were supposed to be haranguing.

With a tip from a regular reader, we can see why the gun nut group was so trigger happy about the possibility of Clarke losing taxpayer money for his politicking. The reason is because they are receiving taxpayer-funded subsidizing for their politicking (emphasis mine)
More recently, the West Bend Common Council offered the U.S. Concealed Carry Association a low-interest loan and five years of property tax rebates to relocate in a former art museum building downtown.

“I wish we had deals like this lined up around the corner right now,” says West Bend Mayor Kraig Sadownikow.

In exchange for the incentives, he says the concealed carry group will bring around 30 jobs to West Bend and invest $1 million in its new location.

“We’ve been looking for ways to inject some adrenaline into the downtown as many communities are. It keeps a building fully occupied, puts it back on the tax roll,” Sadownikow says.

Sadownikow says he’s aware that some residents are upset the government is subsidizing the divisive group, but contends the deal is not about politics. And the mayor defends his refusal to allow public comment on the incentive package.

“It’s a very slippery slope for local officials such as myself to get caught up in the politics of the day. This was about bringing jobs to West Bend. It was about investment in our community,” Sadownikow says.
It sure didn't take Walker's corrupt leadership to spread to the local Teapublicans, did it?

There is this corrupt Teapublican mayor who is basically giving a no bid sweetheart deal to a radical right wing group so that they can do lobbying and politicking.  The the mayor says that the giveaway of taxpayer money - nudge, nudge, wink, wink - has nothing to do with politics.  Yeah, seems legit.

Ironically, last week Charlie Sykes and the propagandists were having a massive hissy fit about a person - fully funded by private organizations - working with Mayor Tom Barrett's office to get reasonable gun control laws in place.  Now we have taxpayer supported special interests trying to help Clarke's campaign and they have nothing to say.

One would think that with next year being an election year, if Clarke wants to continue to be the county's top law enforcement officer, he might want to stop hanging around people of questionable ethics.  Then again, one might think he'd want to be a little more ethical himself.

Mission Accomplished!

By Jeff Simpson

Right Wing blog, Boots & Sabers say they are closing up shop.   Its interesting that they are choosing this time to call it a day, since their "motto" is " the blogging will continue until morale improves..".

It appears that the morale has improved.

Of course realizing that B&S was originated in the West Bend area, it all makes sense.

Only from someone who thinks Glenn Grothman actually represents anyone, then you would find "improved morale" in the fact that Wisconsin is ranked in the bottom five states in both lack of jobs and lowering wages.   To top this one off, there is no chance of us improving.

That kind of news would play well in West Bend, then you top that off with FINALLY having a black friend, and you can see why they would want to take some time and enjoy their "success"!

The thing to worry about though is if BootsandKittens will also be leaving us!

The Grothman Spectacle

State Senator Glenn Grothmann used his downtime during the holidays to do what all good republicans do, criticize and demean someone else's beliefs and celebrationsThis press release is too precious to edit so here it is in its entirety!
Why are hard-core left wingers still trying to talk about Kwanzaa - the supposed African-American holiday celebration between Christmas and New Year’s?
As has been well publicized, Kwanzaa is not some African or African-American tradition. It was invented in 1966 by Ron Karenga, a 1960s radical leader and founder of something called the "US Organization". This group, often referred to as the "United Slaves" is even more radical than the Black Panthers. The United Slaves killed two Black Panther members and Karenga himself wound up going to prison for assaulting some of his own members. Karenga was a racist and didn't like the idea that Christ died for all of our sins, so he felt blacks should have their own holiday - hence, Kwanzaa.
Of course, almost no black people today care about Kwanzaa - just white left-wingers who try to shove this down black people's throats in an effort to divide Americans. Irresponsible public school districts such as Green Bay and Madison (and who knows how many others, see links below) try to tell a new generation that blacks have a separate holiday than Christians. Waring Fincke, left-wing West Bend lawyer and vice chair of the Washington County Democratic Party, encouraged people to learn more about Kwanzaa in a column in July. Fortunately, almost all black people ignore Waring Fincke and his ilk and their efforts to divide Americans.
But why do they do it? They don't like America and seek to destroy it by pretending that its values as expressed in the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution, don't apply to everyone. Mainstream Americans must be more outspoken on this issue. It's time it's slapped down once and for all. With tens of millions of honorable black Americans in our country's past, we should not let a violent nut like Karenga speak for them. (By the way, after getting out of prison he was hired as a professor at California State Long Beach. When are we going to stop funding left wing nuts at our public universities?) The churches ought to be particularly appalled since Karenga thought Christmas was a white religion and was trying to draw black people from it. Be on the lookout if a K-12 or college teacher tries to tell your children or grandchildren it's a real holiday.
https://www.madison.k12.wi.us/node/8430
http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/article/20121226/GPG0101/312260217/Kwanzaa-increasingly-celebrated-community-even
Now the "America lover and Constitution follower" (ok stop laughing) State Senator from West Bend wants you to report anyone that would consider Kwanzaa a "real holiday".  Although he is not clear on who to report them too.

Everytime Grothman opens his mouth, he embarrasses the State of Wisconsin and this is absolutely no exception.   Kwanzaa is of course a "real holiday" one that is celebrated by millions of Christian Americans and Canadians

Kwanzaa is such a "real holiday" that the US Government has released multiple stamps celebrating Umoja!

West Bend should be ashamed to keep sending such an insensitive, racist, unintelligent, know nothing, lives with his mommy clown to represent them in OUR state Government!

H/T Glenn Grothman Watch for the picture!

"Small Government" Grothman Strikes Again!

H/T Jack Craver from Capital Times:

Glenn Grothman strikes again.   This time the "small government conservative" is at it again.  First off he is upset about a bill Tammy Baldwin supports, the problem being he has no idea whats in the bill(so he makes it up).

n similar fashion, he put out a statement last week denouncing a bill proposed by U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin, who is running for U.S. Senate, that would require the Department of Health and Human Services to collect data on the sexual orientation and gender identity of people enrolled in public health programs, such as Medicare and Medicaid.

“Even if Tammy Baldwin succeeds in ramming her radical agenda through Washington, Wisconsin cannot let its doctors and patients be pushed around. I am sure most doctors in my area would be appalled at the federal government ordering them to ask such questions to their patients,” Grothman said in the statement.

Baldwin's bill, which was introduced in 2010 and remains in committee, does not refer to doctors. It refers to surveys that those participating or applying for federal medical programs fill out. HHS uses a variety of surveys to evaluate public health and recognize trends. Her intention behind the bill is help track health disparities and gather more information on LGBT health.

Significantly, the bill sponsored by Baldwin also specifies that providing sexual orientation and gender identity would be voluntary.

Nevertheless, it is increasingly standard practice for physicians to ask adult and adolescent patients about their sexual activity and sexual orientation.

The American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association both urge physicians to discuss sexual orientation with patients frankly, citing the unique challenges and risks that face particular groups. Gay men are at increased risk of sexually transmitted diseases, for instance, and transgender individuals are often more vulnerable to cardiovascular issues because of the hormone treatment they sometimes undergo.

So he is upset about something in a bill that is not there, and also upset about a Dr. doing something that they are already doing along with a voluntary "committement" for the patients to answer.

The facts will not stop Grothman, he is on a mission! The small government conservative is looking to:

Grothman says he hopes to introduce legislation that would prevent Wisconsin from being subject to such mandates as Baldwin proposed, assuming they one day materialize. His bill would furthermore criminalize the distribution by a federal official of a form that "requires a minor to identify (his or her) sexual orientation."
So the "get the government out of your lives" guy, is going to introduce EVEN more  legislation which sticks government not only in our lives, but also in our Dr's office.

Then comes the best part of the story, and so incredibly typical for the Wisconsin republican party.   Is Glenn Grothman coming at this bill from a position of expertise AT ALL?  of course not!

The senator concedes his knowledge of Western medicine might be slightly outdated.

"I usually avoid doctors," he says.

Just another attempt by the republican party to intrude in our lives and demonize the democrats!   Grothman defines the word - extremist!   It is waaaaay time to send someone to the state senate who will actually listen to the constituents of their district and represent them like an adult!

It is time to vote in Tanya Lohr for State Senate.

If the Wisconsin republicans are allowed to continue on this path of their version of "less government" next thing you know, Scott Walker will be telling us to start spying on each other

The Pride Of West Bend

No, I'm not referring to Owen Robinson.

I'm referring to the clown that couldn't cope with the fact that the majority of people have come to the realization that Scott Walker is not good for this state or its citizens.  Because of his inability to deal with this simple fact, he resorted to defacing two recall petitions.

Fortunately, the thug probably didn't cause any real damage that would harm the recall.  In fact, by this time, odds are that the petitioners have been able to find the people whose signatures were damaged and had them re-sign new petitions, since that is allowed.

The sweet irony is that for his troubles, he is now facing two felony charges.  If convicted on either one or both of the charges, he won't even be able to vote to save his beloved leader from his certain recall.  (I also hope he's a gun nut too, since he'll have to give those up too.)

And in related news, a woman in Chippewa Falls demonstrated her ineffective coping technique on a Recall Walker sign.  For her troubles, she was cited with disorderly conduct and destruction of property.

Is it any surprise that the people that can't handle reality are the ones supporting Walker?
