What Now Brown Cow!

When Hillary Clinton said she was done serving her country so honorably as Secretary of State, the republicans saw that as opportunity.   They had recently lost the MA Senate held by Scott Brown to a true progressive in Elizabeth Warren.   The rumors that John Kerry was being considered as her successor, allowed them to pounce into action!

The plan that Reince and the rest of his team came up with was, allow John Kerry to be confirmed as Secretary of State and then have Scott Brown win the special election to fill his seat and gain an important seat for the next 5 years in the Senate!

We all know what they say about the best laid plans......

First off President Obama wanted to nominated the very distinguished Ambassador Susan Rice for the position.   This would have kept the Senate seat in Kerry's  hands so that was unacceptable.  The republicans like they always do, ratcheted the rhetoric up to an 11, and personally attacked Susan Rice as often and as loudly as they could.   John McCain and Lindsey Graham led the outright racist and sexist attacks, forcing Ambassador Rice to eventually withdraw her name from consideration.

That obstacle out of the way, they were then faced with a new one that they did not know how to overcome: Scott Brown does not want to run again

“Over these past few weeks I have given serious thought about the possibility of running again, as events have created another vacancy requiring another special election. I have received a lot of encouragement from friends and supporters to become a candidate, and my competitive instincts were leading in the same direction,” Brown wrote.
“Even so, I was not at all certain that a third Senate campaign in less than four years, and the prospect of returning to a Congress even more partisan than the one I left, was really the best way for me to continue in public service at this time. And I know it’s not the only way for me to advance the ideals and causes that matter most to me,” he added.
“That is why I am announcing today that I will not be a candidate for the United States Senate in the upcoming special election,” his statement ends.
The primary is April 30 and the special election June 25.

Let me interpret for you - it  is very taxing for a moderate republican to try and keep the "tea party" base happy.   So thanks but no thanks, someone else can have that headache!

Now for the punchline.

The republican are so flummoxed that Brown does not want to run, they are at a loss to find someone else.

Things are so bad under Reince's reign that they are considering asking people in the Romney Family to run.

Massachusetts Republicans are desperately scrambling to find a strong Senate candidate to replace Scott Brown, with some even trying to persuade Mitt Romney’s wife or son to jump into the race to avert another electoral disaster.
The former GOP senator’s decision to stay out of the June 25 special election surprised and angered some Republican leaders, who said it will make it much harder to beat a Democratic opponent without Brown on the ballot.
“I’ve had several people call me and ask about Ann Romney,” Ron Kaufman, a longtime friend and aide to the former Massachusetts governor and 2012 presidential candidate nominee, told the Herald.

......

Other GOP leaders also raised the prospect of Mitt’s eldest son, Tagg, launching a surprise Senate campaign. Tagg Romney was a close campaign adviser and surrogate for his father and is a successful businessman living in Belmont.
As a progressive, I am ecstatic that the republicans have decided to keep Reince in charge!

More Mittmentum

Mitt Romney ran for President of the United States for six years, spent countless millions of dollars, and all he got was this lousy White Turkey Chili

At least Mitt was finally able to stand in the Oval Office.  I wonder if President Obama let him sit in his chair? I wonder how much his lunch cost the taxpayers of our country?  I guess we know who the takers are!

Since Mitt's election day blow-out he has disappeared and so has any sign of leadership in the republican party.  The one thing we know is that the leadership void, will not be filled by Reince.

His loss and immediate withdrawal from politics, while welcomed by most, has created a leadership vacuum within his party. It's left the GOP rudderless, lacking an overarching agenda and mired in infighting, with competing visions for the way ahead, during what may be the most important policy debate in a generation.

In his final meeting with campaign staffers at his Boston headquarters, Romney promised to remain "a strong voice for the party," according to those in attendance. But so far he has offered little to the Capitol Hill negotiations over potential tax increases and entitlement program changes that could affect virtually every American.

He declined to comment on the Treasury Department's recent refusal to declare China a currency manipulator, which was one of his signature issues over the past 18 months. He made no public remarks after his meeting with Obama, quickly fading away, again.
We also see that Mitt was able to go back to his life of taking big money for not working, by being appointed to the Board of Directors of Marriott.    Let's hope for the employees of Marriott's sake, that they never ask Mitt to crunch the numbers.

Some good things happened though that we all can rejoice in with Mitt's loss:

1.  President Obama is still our president,

2.  People were able to see Paul Ryan(R- Wall St.) as the arrogant extremist that he is!

3.  It spawned this awesome website(check it out)!

4.  Finally Ann Romney cries every day that she is not first lady, because she was destined to play the role of first lady

By all accounts, the past month has been most difficult on Romney’s wife, Ann, who friends said believed up until the end that ascending to the White House was their destiny. They said she has been crying in private and trying to get back to riding her horses.

Romney has been keeping in shape with bike rides around La Jolla, past the bistros and boutiques that hug the rugged coastline. The son of Detroit — who boasted of the Cadillacs he owned as a sign of support for the U.S. auto industry during the campaign — was spotted driving a new black Audi Q7, a luxury sport-utility vehicle manufactured in Slovakia.

I don't know why Ann is upset, Mitt is the one who pumps the gas!

Mitt Was REALLY Thinking Ahead!

We brought you the story the other day of Mitt having his "President Romney transition website" ready to go live.

As is the theme of this blog, there is always more!

Mitt also had a Boston Harbor fireworks show ready to go

Mitt Romney had planned to celebrate his election as the nation’s 45th president with an eight-minute fireworks display over Boston Harbor.

The same company that does some of the illuminations for Boston’s Fourth of July celebration was poised to ignite fireworks within view of Romney’s party at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center to celebrate a win over President Obama.

A permit filed with the City of Boston said the detonation could occur any time between 7 p.m. Tuesday, just after the first polls closed, and 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, which ended up being just before Romney conceded the race.

Instead, Atlas Professional Fireworks Displays unloaded the pyrotechnics from mortars set up on a barge near the Bank of America Pavilion and carted them back to its headquarters in Jaffrey, N.H.

Not ONLY did Mitt know he was going to win, he also knew he would win so handily that the race would be over by midnight EASTERN TIME!  Say it with me:  But Wait There's more!

Meanwhile, officials at Logan International Airport reported Tuesday that their private aviation tarmac was crammed with corporate jets that ferried in campaign supporters en route to the convention center.
The area’s hotels and restaurants also were filled with revelers.

And after a last-minute campaign dash to Ohio and Pennsylvania, Romney told reporters aboard his campaign plane that he had tapped out a victory speech on his iPad. He even enumerated its word count: 1,118.
Mitt Romney is the perfect example of everything that is wrong with Corporate America!  They have no idea whats happening on the street with real people and they live in a little fantasy land bubble.

From NBC news:

In conversations on Wednesday, aides were generally wistful, not angry, at how the campaign ended. Most, like their boss, truly believed the campaign's now almost comically inaccurate models, and that a victory was well within their grasp.

From HuffPO:

As Republicans search for reasons why they came up short in Tuesday's elections, anonymous Mitt Romney advisers have described what it was like to be with the former governor as he came to terms with his loss.

"He was shellshocked," one adviser told CBS News.

Another unnamed senior adviser explained that as returns came in and battleground states went into President Barack Obama's Electoral College column, they felt their paths to potential victory narrowing. CBS reports that the campaign was unprepared for this in part because it had ignored polling that showed the races favoring Obama. Instead, it turned to its own internal "unskewed" polls, which it believed more accurately reflected the situation on the ground. They didn't.
 From CBS:

Romney was stoic as he talked to the president, an aide said, but his wife Ann cried. Running mate Paul Ryan seemed genuinely shocked, the adviser said. Ryan's wife Janna also was shaken and cried softly.

"There's nothing worse than when you think you're going to win, and you don't," said another adviser. "It was like a sucker punch."

Well actually Mr./Ms. Adviser, there is something worse, when you have worked for generations at a local plant in America and your job gets shipped overseas.   Trust me that is way worse, and the equestrian Ann and oil fields Janna got a little taste of that on Tuesday night!

MItt's Family Values

I have always said that on those rare occasions when politicians(especially republicans), tell us the truth, that we should listen to them. Last night in the first debate, there was actually a time when Mitt was honest with us.  It did not happen often but it did happen once!

As a father, one of the main things that my wife and I preach to our children, is that they must ALWAYS tell the truth. No matter what happens or what they did, they have to tell us the truth at all times. No exceptions.

That being said, during this whole campaign season and all words said, this 30 seconds was THE most telling 30 seconds of the year.

Mitt Romney actually said he is used to someone saying the same lie over and over again because he has 5 sons and they all lie.

What kind of family values have Mitt and Ann bestowed upon their sons?

Harvey Dent Returns!

Paul Ryan (R- Wall St.) channels Harvey Dent once again!   This time he channeled the clean cut, yet psychotic Batman villian who lives by the flip of a coin, all before most people had their first cup of coffee(and on the same show even).

1.  Here is Paul Ryan on "Fox News Sunday"(emphasis mine):

“We've had some missteps," said Ryan, also noting many conservatives' concerns that the campaign is failing to project a clear message to voters. "But at the end of the day, the choice is really clear, and we're giving people a very clear choice."

Watch some more and this is what you would have seen:

WALLACE:  But I have to point out, you haven’t  given me the math.

RYAN: No, but, well… I don't have the time…  it would take me too long to go through all the math,....

Yes Paul, it is very clear if you went into specifics, of what you planned on doing to our country you would get voted off the island!   Ann Romney was wrong, when she said all we have to worry about is Mitt's "mental health" , it looks like we have to worry even more about his running mate's!

Quote of the Day

“Stop it. This is hard. You want to try it? Get in the ring. This is hard and, you know, it’s an important thing that we’re doing right now and it’s an important election and it is time for all Americans to realize how significant this election is and how lucky we are to have someone with Mitt’s qualifications and experience and know-how to be able to have the opportunity to run this country.”  Ann Romney

Yes we should all love Mitt Romney, he is a true leader,  and all ladies are naturally attracted to him, they just can not help it

Next time you address Mitt Romney, "He would rather you just say THANK YOU!"

Quote of the Day

Comes from the republican party leader and presidential nominee:
I appreciate the fact that she is on the ground, safe and sound. And I don’t think she knows just how worried some of us were,” Romney said. “When you have a fire in an aircraft, there’s no place to go, exactly, there’s no — and you can’t find any oxygen from outside the aircraft to get in the aircraft, because the windows don’t open. I don’t know why they don’t do that. It’s a real problem." Mitt Romney.

Call To Action!: Give Ann Romney A Warm "Other 47%" Welcome

Ann Romney, the Marie Antoinette to Mitt's Louis XVI, will be coming to Milwaukee on Thursday morning for a fund raiser for her hubby.

A group of groups, including We Are Wisconsin, are forming a reception committee to welcome her not only as the 47%, but in the way only Angry Badgers can.

The warm Wisconsin welcome is from 8:30 am to 10 am and will be at the Old Gym at Marquette University.

Let them know that ignoring the 47% is a very bad decision to make.

And if that's not enough, I would not be surprised if Scott Walker, Rebecca Kleefisch and the  other Republithugs will be there as well.

Today's MUST READ(and watch)

We gave you Mitt's actual thoughts on China(as disgusting as they are) this morning.  As is the theme of this blog..."There is more, there is always more!"

Today there is LOTS more.....from David Corn of Mother Jones, more secretly taped videos of Mitt being honest for once in his life.

Boy does he open up and wow is he a horrible human being!

Here is a quick sampling:

At the dinner, Romney also said that the campaign purposefully was using Ann Romney "sparingly... so that people don't get tired of her." And he noted that he had turned down an invitation from Saturday Night Live because such an appearance "has the potential of looking slapstick and not presidential."
I recommend heading to this page and watching all of the clips!!!

Michelle Obama

Team Obama has put together a very moving tribute to Michelle Obama:

For some reason, I can't see the Republicans doing the same for Ann Romney. Not that she's not a good mother, but because, well, they're Republicans and don't respect women the way they should.

Ann Hates Dogs Too!

We have covered the story of how Mitt abused the family dog Seamus already, but Ann Romney can not leave well enough alone and doubled down on the story!

I guess the dog loved being strapped to the top of the roof while he luggage was in the car.   So much so he ran away never to be heard from again!   Why does Ann Romney remind me of Leona Helmsly?

In Ann's defense, when you live in a house like this(actual Rmoney compoun), no wonder the dog wanted on the roof, no where for him to run!

The Wisconsin Humane society begs to differ!!!!

Tax Return Hypocrisy

There is no limits to republican hypocrisy and no issue they will NOT politicize.  The latest issue is tax returns:

Let's look at some things we know about tax returns and politicians:

We know that George Romney(Mitts dad) was the first politician to release multiple years tax returns because  “One year could be a fluke, perhaps done for show".

We know that when Mitt was desperate to be John McCain's running mate he gave the Senator over 23 years of tax returns!

We know that Mitt will NOT release his tax returns to the general public:

We know that Ann Romney says they have given us all of the info "that you people need to know".

We also know that Washington DC resident,  Eric Hovde has no interest in releasing his tax returns

We know that the republicans think that releasing tax returns is a non issue and has nothing to do with the upcoming election.

NOW, thanks to some very good reporting from Jason Rae, we know that when it comes to their opponents, tax returns are a very significant issue.

From June 27 to July 16, 2012, the Republican Party of Wisconsin, through its political director Jonathan Wetzel, filed an open records request with the Wisconsin Department of Revenue for the tax returns of 26 Democratic candidates for the Assembly. The requests varied from ten years worth of filings to just one year’s return.

You see, unlike federal tax returns, state tax returns are subject to open records.  It’s just one more aspect of the Wisconsin tradition of transparency in government that has been under assault by Governor Walker and the GOP led legislature in the last year and a half.  But don’t get me wrong, even if they don’t like the transparency, they will use it when it benefits them.
....

I just don’t understand how they can deny releasing their own returns saying it shouldn’t matter and that it’s an attempt to, as a Hovde spokesman said, “incite class warfare,” and yet go and seek tax returns from other candidates.

Here again we have Republicans talking out of both sides of their mouth. It is actually making me wonder what Tommy, Mark, Eric and Jeff are all hiding if they refuse to release theirs? Its classic do as we say, not as we do.

Hypocrisy, thy name is Republican.
