Don't Bury Me I Am Not Dead Yet: Social Security Cleans Up It's Database!

Given who is in charge right now, what could possibly go wrong? Well, with even the best intentioned, given the nature and size of the task, stuff is going to go wrong. But the current regime is identified by their extreme carelessness. So what did they do?

The Social Security Administration has announced a massive cleanup of the Social Security Number database, which it says will prevent fraud and help manage benefits.

On Oct. 20, the federal agency announced that it completed the "most comprehensive" SSN record organization in its 91-year history.

The agency said in a release that it has corrected nearly 15 percent of all active SSNs across nearly 390 million total records since the beginning of President Donald Trump's second administration.

The SSN database cleanup included the following measures, according to a release:

Addition of 17 million dates of death to records that previously lacked this information

Updates to approximately 25 million records that previously had missing citizenship information

Updates currently in progress to correcting an additional 8.5 million records with inaccurate citizenship status.

So, again, what could possibly go wrong? Well pretty much anything. SO: check your Social Security Account status to see if any corrections were made to your record that are NOT correct. Don't wait until your benefits don't show up next month. Untying their knots could create some significant drama that you don't need. Having 17 million records updated with a date of death seems a little bit scary. Why would there be so many and how did the database get that out of whack? The first thing that a funeral director does after retrieving the deceased's remains, is reporting the death to the Social Security Administration. Sadly, I know that from recent experience.

So be safe, check your status.
