Milwaukee Republican Officer Thinks Children Should Not Be Seen Nor Heard

TMJ4 did a news story about the kids at Franklin High School who were planning on doing a demonstration to protest ICEtapo brutality. Parents were split on whether it was appropriate, apparently forgetting their own childhood protests.

However, Hilario Deleon, who is the chair of the Republican Party of Milwaukee County, thinks that children should not be seen or heard, and they should hold their protest when it's more convenient to ignore:

"It does a disservice not only to them but to the people in the community who are financing the school through taxpayer dollars," said Hilario Deleon, who supports the right to protest but opposes the student walkouts' timing.

Some residents questioned students' motivations, suggesting that many participants might simply want to skip class rather than advocate for their cause.

"Many of the walkouts that happened when I was in school, most kids were just walking out to get out of class," Deleon said.

Critics suggested holding the protest outside school hours to demonstrate a genuine commitment to the cause.

"It will also show and demonstrate who the actual people who believe in the cause are," Deleon said.

Deleon is obviously not a big one for civil rights. He probably thinks that Rosa Parks should have only taken a seat on the bus when it was less crowded. Perhaps he thinks that Dr. Martin Luther King should have walked to Selma later in the day, so as not to inconvenience anyone.  Deleon probably thinks that union workers should only strike after their shift is done.

Maybe Deleon should learn some history before making a fool out of himself again.

RoJo - The New Inspector Clouseau

Ron Johnson isn't worth a damn as a senator, and he's not very effective as a political operative either.  In a feeble effort to keep the Minnesota daycare scandal a thing, RoJo issued a press release to tell everyone that he sent a letter out to show how he's looking very seriously into this very serious matter:

The letter follows recent public reporting on fraud in Minnesota, including a YouTube video by Nick Shirley that highlighted potentially $111 million in improper payments and fraud at child care centers across Minnesota and raised serious questions about whether existing oversight mechanisms at DHS were sufficient to detect and prevent fraud.

“At the very least, routine DHS oversight should have identified obvious program-integrity red flags at child care centers receiving unusually large payments relative to their licensed capacity,” Chairman Johnson wrote.

In the letter, the chairman enclosed a list of over 70 examples of child care businesses in Minnesota that received over $1 million in annual payments from the state in 2024. He demanded audit and inspection records connected to those entities.

“Given the pervasiveness of fraud in your state, it is past time for Minnesota to answer for its apparent failure to safeguard taxpayer dollars,” Chairman Johnson stated.

I did notice an odd thing that is remarkable in its omission. Among all of the documents he is calling for in between his snark attacks at Governor Tim Walz, RoJo Cousteau forgot to ask for the court transcripts of the dozens of people already tried and convicted in the scandal.

I wonder why that is. Maybe the same reason he's not worried about the Epstein files.

Maria Lazar Is More Radical Than Even Rebecca Bradley

Wisconsin Watch took a unique approach to the race for the Wisconsin Supreme Court. They asked both the Chris Taylor campaign and the Maria Lazar campaign to pselecta case that showcases their strengths and their opponent's weaknesses.

Interestingly, they both chose the same case - a voting rights case on whether voters had to completely fill out their address, including city, state, and zip code.  Taylor ruled with the voters, pointing out that the law did not sarequire themo include all of that information.

Each campaign explained why they chose this case:

A spokesperson for Taylor’s campaign said the case demonstrates how Taylor protected Democratic rights and “fairly” and “impartially” applies the law.

“This decision balanced protecting each Wisconsinite’s right to vote with establishing a fair, uniform procedure for our local clerks,” Taylor campaign spokesman Sam Roecker said. “As indicative of the strength of this decision, no party involved in the case appealed Judge Taylor’s decision.”

Lazar’s campaign said Taylor failed to consider the intent of the Legislature

“Judge Taylor’s opinion, on the merits, indicates how far an activist judge who legislates from the bench will go to alter procedures for election integrity,” Lazar campaign spokesman Nathan Conrad said of the witness address case. “Every common sense citizen in Wisconsin knows that an address consists of a street name, number and municipality.”

The explanation from the Lazar campaign reminded me of something that shows Lazar is unfit to be on the bench, especially not the Supreme Court.

Seven years ago, the Wisconsin Supreme Court heard a case in which the decision came down to intent versus how the law is written. The Court ruled that intent was irrelevant and the law had to be followed as written. That decision was written by Rebecca Bradley, whose seat is up for grabs in April:

"The county urges the court to interpret 'not covered by the terms of a collective bargaining agreement' to mean 'not represented by a union,'" Rebecca Bradley wrote for the majority. "Because we must apply the plain meaning of the ordinance's text rather than rewrite it to reflect what the county may have intended, we reject the county's request and affirm the Court of Appeals."

In summary, what the legislature might have intended is irrelevant. The thing that matters is how the law is written.  Taylor was correct and followed the law. Lazar wanted to alter the meaning of the law to meet her agenda.

We don't need anyone more radical and fascist than even Bradley on the bench.

Where's Wisconsin?

From the latest drop of the heavily redacted Epstein files comes this tidbit showing just how incompetent the first Trump administration was:

They couldn't even find Wisconsin on a map. Yet they still had Ron Johnson soiling his trousers because even these bumbling fools knew he was a Russian spy.
