When you combine a snake oil salesman and reality tv "star" to a party that has been using dog whistles to win elections since the 70's and a deep resentment by some people that their President for the last 8 years has been a black man, this is what you get with those ingredients.   It is not going to get better either until Mr. Trump disappears from the public view.  He is playing a dangerous game and the GOP establishment is fueling him!  

Many in the GOP will come up with excuses like, Trump doesn't represent the party(well he won the nomination handliy).  There is no room in the GOP for misogyny, racism or sexism (again Trump won the nomination handily), or  Hillary would be worse!(I am no fan of Hillary but worse than Trump? )

While Hillary might have more love for fossil fuels and Wall St. than I am comfortable with, she does not act like a petulant child like Trump.

Crooked Hillary and Dummy Bill Kristol, are some creative insults if they coming from a third graders mind.   Not remotely Presidential especially coming from a guy who said this:

Yes that is your 1810  2016 Republican Presidential nominee.    While Trump is responsible for his "great words", the GOP by electing him and not denouncing him are also just as guilty of the racism, pettiness, misogyny and sexism.  

As Paul Ryan says:

"Donald Trump should be given a ton of credit for advancing and widening the playing field," Paul Ryan(R-Wall St.) said. "He is bringing new voters to the Republican Party by the millions and that's very impressive."

Jim Sensenbrenner, Glenn Grothman and Sean Duffy all endorse this behavior:

"Donald Trump has won our nomination fair and square," U.S. Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner said.He told activists they need to back Trump to prevent having "three or more Ruth Bader Ginsburgs" on the Supreme Court.U.S. Reps. Glenn Grothman and Sean Duffy made similar appeals, saying Republicans had to make sure they kept Clinton out of the White House. Grothman said Republicans needed to build enthusiasm for Trump.

US one term Senator Ron Johnson also thinks this behavior is perfectly fine: 

 For his part, Johnson said in an interview he doesn't agree with Trump on issues such as temporarily banning Muslims from the United States, but added he and other Republicans see eye to eye with Trump on most major matters.

Scott Walker is eating this stuff up and upset he can not get away with what Trump does:

 "I will support the Republican running against (Democratic front-runner) Hillary Clinton in the fall — whoever that is," Walker said at a news conference in Wauwatosa on Wednesday morning.  Even if Trump is the nominee?  "Yeah," Walker said, declining to say Trump's name. "To me, I think it's preferable to have a Republican nominee over Hillary Clinton. 

Let's not forget that Wisconsin's leading Billionaire Heiress, Diane Hendricks,  has signed up to be VP of the Trump for President committee!  We are trying to confirm here at CogDis is Trump makes her wear a bikini when they have meetings!

Two of Gov. Scott Walker's top financial contributors were named Tuesday by Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus to the leadership team of a key fundraising committee to support Donald Trump.Diane Hendricks, a Beloit billionaire who is co-founder and chairman of ABC Supply, was picked as one of the vice chairs of Trump Victory committee. The committee will raise money for the RNC, the Trump campaign and 11 state party committees.   Elizabeth (Liz) Uihlein, president of Pleasant Prairie-based Uline Corp., was also named to the committee.

Why Diane Hendricks continues to serve on the Beloit College Board of Trustees is beyond me!  

GOP Senate "leader" Scott Fitzgerald also jumped aboard the train.

State Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) called on Republicans to unite around Trump and work to ensure that the state's GOP delegates vote for the billionaire on the first ballot at the Republican National Convention this summer."We're on the Trump train now," Fitzgerald said, making the opening argument Wednesday in his party's internal debate.

We all know how Fitzgerald feels about high speed rail, so he jumped on the low speed backwards running Trump train. 

You have to ask yourself, is this the future we want for our children, or us?  Or America???   We can not afford to not only vote for Donald Trump, but for any politician who would put their party over the future of our Country.   

Please keep that in mind in November!   


 

Right Wing Blogger Mars Memorial Day With McCarthyism

The school district for West Bend is looking for a new superintendent. The old one is stepping down after having used Act 10 to drive the district into the ground and to terrorize his staff.

Judy Steffes, writing at the West Bend Insider, has an article about whether or not the three finalists to be the new superintendent had signed the petition to recall Scott Walker.

No, seriously.

No word on qualifications.  Just whether or not they signed the recall petition.

Right wing blatherer and plantation economist Owen "Old Lady" Robinson celebrates the news that none of the finalists signed the petition and calls the question an important litmus test for the candidates:

In the comments of the post at the Washington County Insider, former West Bend Mayor Kristine Deiss asks, “What has whether or not they signed the Walker recall got to do with being qualified for the job? I would hope our School Board did not ask this question.”

It’s a valid question, but it is important and I do hope that the School Board asks about it. Act 10 is the single-most important school reform in this millennium (it sure sounds impressive that way, doesn’t it?). We need to know if the incoming superintendent view Act 10 as a detriment to public education or as a tool with which to make the West Bend School District better. Given that the citizens of the district overwhelmingly support Act 10 and turned out in huge numbers to vote for Governor Walker during the recall election, a new superintendent who hates Act 10 will come in immediately out of a step with the community he or she is supposed to serve.

So yes… ask the question. Do the due diligence.

As if this display of McCarthyism wasn't vulgar enough, Robinson does it on Memorial Day weekend.

Memorial Day is the time that the nation stops and joins together in paying tribute to the brave men and women who have given their all to protect the rights and freedoms that we all enjoy today.

Robinson, of all people, being a veteran himself, should know that.

Yet here he is, demanding that a candidate to lead his community's school district have shown their fealty to the present regime.  Apparently, being qualified as an educator and a leader is secondary to needing to know whether or not they are loyal to the petty tyrant, Scott Walker.  Instead of celebrating freedom, Robinson is trying to enforce fascism.

Robinson should write an open letter of apology to the families of our fallen veterans for showing such disrespect to the sacrifices their loved ones had made for us all.  But he won't. That would require an ounce of decency.

Shocker! Walker Lied About Wanting To Kill Wisconsin Idea

Last year, just as Scott Walker was getting his official pre-official presidential bid running at full speed, it was discovered that he wanted to do away with the Wisconsin Idea.

What is the Wisconsin Idea? Well, this:

First summed up by UW President Charles Van Hise in 1904, the Wisconsin Idea means that "the borders of the University are the borders of the state." Van Hise declared that he would “never be content until the beneficent influence of the university reaches every family in the state” and this has long been the core philosophy of the UW System, which has worked hard over the decades to generate programs that serve people and communities all over the state.

Walker wanted to take that language out of the mission statement after more than a hundred years of it being held up as a national and international standard. He wanted to remove it because he didn't believe in it. He wanted to use the entire university system as a way to deliver yet even more corporate welfare to his wealthy campaign donors.

When the people of Wisconsin learned of this unspeakable act, the outrage was instant and overwhelming and growing bigger every day.

Walker, not wanting to derail his campaign wagon, quickly distanced himself from this and said that it was merely a "drafting error." Needless to say, no one believed him.

When an open record request was done, Walker withheld hundreds of pages of emails regarding the changes to Wisconsin Idea. He was sued by the Center for Media and Democracy, The Progressive magazine and two individuals, whom won in the court of law.

Walker released 86 more pages of emails and they revealed that - brace yourself now! - Walker lied about his involvement with the changes being proposed to the Wisconsin idea. Not only was he aware of these changes, he wanted them and directed his staff to make them:

Records released Friday by Gov. Scott Walker’s office in response to a judge’s order make clear he sought controversial changes in 2015 to the University of Wisconsin System’s mission statement, known as the Wisconsin Idea.

The office made public 82 pages of records late Friday after Dane County Judge Amy Smith said Walker’s office erroneously withheld 12 email exchanges and six of nine attachments from the public.

One January 2015 document reviewing System comments on proposed changes to its governing structure says Walker requested a “simplified and clearer mission and purpose statements.”

In another — an email that had previously been made public — a budget analyst says that Walker “is recommending revising the UW’s mission and statement of purpose.”

This is all getting rather tedious. Not only is Walker as corrupt as any politician could be, he's not even very good at it.

Tom Larson (R-67th) - Pervert in Waiting

We have covered the debate about our friends in the LGBT community and how the Big Government Republican Bullies want to tell them where, when and how they have to pee.

However this goes beyond the pale.   GOP Rep. Tom Larson (R-67th) had this to say about the issue:

Does that mean women should be scared of Mr. Larson becoming a pervert if they are ever alone with him?  Has anyone checked with any women on his staff?  Any constituent ever been along with him?  Has he ever been to a public pool or beach?  With the track record Republican elected officials have  believe this is enough evidence to start a deeper investigation.

Seriously!  Lucky for the women in Madison, Mr. Larson is retiring (although I think that was coming anyway).   However the people of the 67th district had better be on the lookout for this guy:

School Funding Hits Home

What’s wrong with school funding? Explaining this to voters is difficult.

Try explaining it to a ninth grader who is losing a favorite teacher. The teacher is not retiring. At 53 and after teaching for 29 years, he lost his job.

Recently I spent a day teaching high school students about school funding and the state budget. Later that day I presented similar material to staff and school board members. I learned much more than the students did during my day as teacher.

Prescott considers itself a suburb of Saint Paul. Only 20 minutes away, folks go to church, shop, and read the newspaper from the Twin Cities. Few hear news from Madison.

However, Wisconsin’s convoluted school funding formula is now the topic of conversation.

Prescott school district lost a referendum in February. Voters will soon decide another – the 27th referenda in just 15 years!

“Between building and levy-cap votes I lost track of the count,” Mandy wrote to me describing the problem. I’m not surprised she lost count.

With the failed referendum, officials made hard decisions. They cut programs at the middle school. Cuts were made to music (lost 1.5 teachers), business and computer classes. Officials cut back on high school art, career and technical education and business education.

Because of the failed referendum, ten percent of the budget is gone next year. Ironically, 10% of Prescott’s budget is nearly the same amount as Prescott’s share of the 2011 historic cut to state aid to schools.

If the new vote fails, over-crowding and temporary classrooms become permanent, faculty will be lost, students within the city limits will not be bussed, sports and extra-curricular activities will require fees. Regardless of the outcome of the vote, and because the new referendum is only a fifth the size of the original, many great teachers will still lose their jobs. Students will have fewer opportunities in such important areas as business education, math and technical education.

Prescott High exists because of referenda. Years ago, voters chose to build a high school. Then two years ago, voters supported building a new high school when enrollment increased and overcrowding in the middle school showed clear signs of tight quarters to come.

Just two months before the 2014 referendum to build the new high school, Prescott’s future looked prosperous. Governor Walker and local leaders celebrated the opening of a new 300,000 square foot distribution center. The Governor hyped “500 jobs that could have gone elsewhere.” His press release cited $3.5 million in state dollars assigned to lure the company to Prescott with the promise of jobs.

Evidently, no one asked if the company would also import its workforce.

Most of the employees who work for the company in Wisconsin are the same people who worked there when it was located in Bloomington, Minnesota. Only now, they cross the river to get to work.

Few new local jobs and anticipated housing starts not materializing meant the expected increase in school enrollment did not happen. Fewer students results in less state aid. Costs of operating the new high school and increasing costs to maintain other buildings means some teachers and programs had to go.

The district is in the confusing position of having a new high school building and cutting teachers. Voters may raise property taxes only to see fewer dollars available for the district as enrollment drops.

Prescott is a poster child for all that’s wrong with Wisconsin’s school funding system and is why I am fighting to fix it.

By the time you read this, likely the Prescott referendum votes will be counted. While passage of the referendum is essential for continued operations, it will only bring the revenue limit back to where it is now.

As I left the Prescott High parking lot, I watched one of the terminated teachers carrying a box of personal items to his truck. I observed talented young athletes compete at a track meet. I could not help but wonder if Prescott voters realized the deep connection between decisions made by majority lawmakers in Madison and the loss of teachers, the new fees for athletics, and even the existence of the school referendum.

Elections have consequences. Those consequences can cut to the heart of a community.

John Doe Lives!

As the gentle reader surely remembers, Scott Walker was the subject of not just one, but two, John Doe investigations.

The first investigation was into illegal campaign donations and illegal campaigning while Walker was running for governor the first time. It resulted in six felony convictions of Walker's closest friends, allies and staffers.

The second investigation, which was born of the first one, delved into the illegal collaboration between Walker's campaign and various dark money groups.

The Walker, the other state Republicans and the dark money group, led by the Wisconsin Club for Growth (WCfG) have tried anything and everything they could to kill the John Doe investigation, including a coordinated series of lawsuits against the prosecutors. Eventually, the Wisconsin Supreme Court, being as corrupt and beholden to the dark money groups as Walker, ruled against John Doe. They ordered the investigation stopped and that the prosecutors should turn over all their evidence and destroy all the copies thereof.

But one thing that the right wing dark money groups didn't count on was their own greed and overreach.

In another case, former top Walker aide Cindy Archer filed a frivolous lawsuit in federal court against Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm and the other prosecutors, claiming they violated her civil rights by investigation the commission of a crime to which she was a party. In what was surely pure coincidence, the lawsuit was funded by WCfG and had the same lawyers as the other anti-John Doe suits.

It was obvious early on that the lawsuit was bogus. Not only were the facts in the case incorrect, but an audio tape of the actual investigation showed that almost every claim she made in her lawsuit was a flat out lie.

On Thursday, The Honorable Lynn Adelman ruled against Archer and her dark money supporters, as he should have:

In his decision, Adelman struck down several charges of Archer and her attorney, including that the warrant executed in her home was improper. He outlined a timeline for the development of both John Doe investigations and noted how conservative advocacy groups launched a "full blown campaign against the investigations and against the defendants," led by Eric O'Keefe at the Wisconsin Club for Growth.

“The plaintiff’s allegation of a lack of probable cause for the search of her home is contradicted by the warrant,” Adelman wrote.

He said the warrant was properly executed and issued by Judge Neal Nettesheim, who concluded investigators had probable cause to search Archer’s home.

Good news indeed. But there's more. There's always more.

Adelman went a step further and really foiled the dark money groups by reversing the Wisconsin Supreme Court in regards to destroying the evidence:

On Thursday, Adelman rejected those claims, and allowed for some of the evidence in the John Doe probes to be preserved with his court. Archer's attorneys had asked for the court to bar Chisholm's investigators from having access to evidence in the John Doe probes. Adelman rejected that request in part, allowing the investigators to file evidence from the second John Doe probe with his court clerk, but said the evidence will remain under seal and not be docketed.

He noted that the order does not violate Wisconsin's Supreme Court order calling for the evidence to be collected and destroyed.

"My order does no more than permit the defendants to provide copies of the relevant materials to the clerk of this court. It does not address the issue of access to the materials or whether the state Supreme Court or this court should decide that issue. Thus, the order does not in any way weaken the state court’s determination that the records should remain secret."

That odor you smell is Walker and his buddies soiling themselves.

Then it just keeps getting better when the reporter, Katelyn Ferral of The Cap Times, listed some of the things Adelman cited in his ruling, which shows just how corrupt things have gotten:

The evidence included:

– emails from Walker’s staff advising him to “[s]tress that donations to WiCFG are not disclosed” and to tell donors “that you can accept corporate donations and it is not reported;”

– a $1 million deposit into WiCFG from Stephen Cohen, founder of SAC Capital Advisers, shortly after Walker was scheduled to meet with an SAC representative;

– a March 2012 email from Walker to his fundraiser stating that “Bruce and Susie Kovner said that they want to give more” and 10 days later a $50,000 check from Bruce Kovner arrived in WiCFG’s account. The check’s memo line read “501c4-Walker;” and

– a 2012 email from Walker’s fundraiser to Walker regarding “meetings to make happen while in Sea Island . . . Paul Singer: Grab him.” A few months later, $250,000 was deposited into WiCFG’s account from Singer.

In the meantime, we are still waiting to see if the Supreme Court of the United States will hear a petition filed by Chisholm, asking them to vacate the state's supreme court's decision. They should since at least two of the justices had benefited greatly from WCfG in their own races.

Folks, make sure you keep a lot of popcorn in stock. This could get real interesting.

The Paul Ryan Primary!

I wrote recently that every Democrat, Independent and Conservative should vote for Paul Nehlen in the Primary on August 9th in the 1st Congressional District.   This could be our best chance ever to rid the Country of the stench of Paul Ryan(R-Wall St.).  A simple vote for his challenger on August 9th by people outside the entrenched Republican party insiders could have lasting effects in "Making America Great Again"!  

That being said, after we do to Paul Ryan what he has helped do to thousands upon thousands of his constituents = send them to the Unemployment line.   Granted Ryan, with his lack fo ethics and morals, will then become a multi million dollar a year lobbyist But at least he will not making laws and sending our jobs over seas!  

That all being said, after the primary, then it is each party for itself, with a war of actual issues and policy being discussed.   Right now Paul Ryan has $8 Million dollars sitting in his account and he is ready to pump the airwaves full of ads that will make him look like Paul Wellstones ideological soul mate during the general and win again.

However, there is a catch.   In order for this to work, we need a Democrat on the ballt to make this a race when Paul Nehlen wins.   Then we can let the person who the voters like best win, instead the chameleon who changes his stripes long enough to run.  

So we here at CogDis have a call to action.   PLEASE help Tom Breu get enough signatures to be on the ballot.   The signature gathering for national offices is very burdensome with a small window and he needs your help!!

I am hearing a rumor that people are scared to sign his nomination papers because of the vitriol and harassment the people who signed the Walker recall have to put up with.  

I personally believe that if someone wants to run for office, more power to them.  I would sign anyones nomination form that asked!   It is not a guarantee vote, it is not a pledge to give money(by all means feel free to do both if you want) all it is, is a thank you for taking the time to participate in our democracy.  

So please, sign Mr. Breu's nomination papers and if you can please grab a page and collect ten signatures quick for him.

The Scott Jensen Rule

Assemblyman Mandela Barnes has announced he plans on challenging Senator Lena Taylor for the Senate seat she currently holds in the Democratic primary! This caused the Democratic Party to cut off Mr. Barnes access to the key voter access file due to a policy they have of not allowing challengers of incumbents access.

Democratic Party of Wisconsin rules ban candidates who are challenging an incumbent Democrat from using the party's Voter Activation Network, or VAN. The system provides insights about individual voters and allows candidates to target their messages.
Barnes' contract to use the VAN should've ended when he announced in April his bid to challenge Taylor in the Fourth state Senate district, party chairwoman Martha Laning said.
"The key here as the chair of the Democratic Party is that we consistently apply any rules or policies that we may have," Laning said in a phone interview.

The policy in question is here:

 The Democratic Party of Wisconsin’s bylaws outlines the policy we follow for voter file sales. Under Article 1, Section 6(f)

The Wisconsin voter file which is administered by the Democratic Party of Wisconsin (DPW) will be made available to all the following individuals/groups in good standing with the DPW and legislative caucuses: all incumbent Democratic Party officeholders, Democratic nominees for public office, Democratic legislative campaign committees, and county, local unit, and Congressional District affiliates of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin...All other requests made by individuals, candidates, groups, organizations, or political committees not specified above, must be approved by the State Chair, subject to review by the Executive Committee. All appeals for reversals or exceptions are subject to review by the Executive Committee of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. The Wisconsin voter file and other Democratic Party list access fees will be determined by the Executive Committee established fair market value, as required by state regulation. 

Ok I understand that they have a policy, although I believe that anyone running on the Dem ticket should be allowed access to it.  I also think that sometimes we rely on it too much and ignore people we do not think are "voters".  However that is just my opinion and the party feels differently and that is their call.

HOWEVER, there needs to be a new rule enacted immediately.   I would call it the Scott Jensen rule. 

When you decide to team up with the horrible Scott Jensen and his American Federation for Children (AFC) you immediately lose all standing within the Democratic Party structure.

For those who are not aware of who Scott Jensen is, he is a former Asemblyman who was convicted of felonies in the Capitol Scandal until he was able to get a law passed allowing him to take his case to Brad Schimel who refuses to protect fellow GOP members regardless of the crimes.   Schimel decided that his punishment, instead of prison where he belongs, should be that he can not run for Governor.   Which is laughable because he could not pass a background test to substitute in your local school, so I do not think he would have ever sat in the Governors chair.  

If you need more of the Jensen resume here is a sampling .... Jensen has never been honest about his intentions in the public eye, he is paid $400,000/yr plus to privatize our public educational system and spents tens of thousands of dollars smearing Mandy Wright with blatant lies in her assembly seat that she lost by 80 votes.   That is just a sampling.


Lena also has a history of  working with AFC.  

Let's not be on the same side as Scott Jensen a day longer and reverse this decision, immediately!

As for Mandela Barnes, he was recently named one of the top pro-growth progressives in the nation.

As a Christian and practicing Lutheran/Catholic I appreciate that.  Then continuing to scroll up the page and in what seems like Bizarro Christianity, this comes up.

Ever wonder why we need a "Public Benefit Reform" committee?
This receipt, mailed to me by an observant Kewaskum voter, details nearly $500 in food stamp purchases just before Christmas... must have been quite a party!
Need I say more? (Last time I had lobster was in the sandbox of Kuwait, probably because it was plentiful in the mercury infested gulf.)

Wait wha???  One of these things is NOT like the other.   For one we do not even know if this receipt is real as fakes like this have been floating around forever trying to justify "public benefit reform".

The concept of the food-stamp queen was first proffered by Ronald Reagan during a 1976 campaign speech. "In Chicago, they found a woman who holds the record," he told the assembled crowd. "She used 80 names, 30 addresses, 15 telephone numbers to collect food stamps, Social Security, veterans’ benefits for four nonexistent deceased veteran husbands, as well as welfare. Her tax-free cash income alone has been running $150,000 a year." Reagan's story turned out to be a gross exaggeration of a minor case of welfare fraud, but since their patron saint conjured her up, conservatives have been unable to rid themselves of the image of the food-stamp queen. And despite her nonexistence, they've tried over and over again to stamp her out.

Putting aside what "saint" Ronnie (The patron Saint of racism) had to say, let's check what the Good Book has to say:

That has to be a typo....a mistake that didn't get caught by the editor and publisher right?   Well no,

Proverbs 19:17
Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.

Job 31:16-21
“If I have withheld anything that the poor desired, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail, or have eaten my morsel alone, and the fatherless has not eaten of it (for from my youth the fatherless grew up with me as with a father, and from my mother's womb I guided the widow), if I have seen anyone perish for lack of clothing, or the needy without covering, if his body has not blessed me, and if he was not warmed with the fleece of my sheep, ...

Leviticus 19:10-11 

And you shall not strip your vineyard bare, neither shall you gather the fallen grapes of your vineyard. You shall leave them for the poor and for the sojourner: I am theLord your God. “You shall not steal; you shall not deal falsely; you shall not lie to one another.

Wow lots of focus on treating the poor and hungry well but I can not seem to find anything about judging people you know nothing of without any information.   I did find this one though:

1 John 3:17-18 

But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.

Interesting reading the Bible can be!   Besides small Government Jesse Kremer did not tell us in his post what foods poor people should be allowed to eat and which ones they should not.  Who knows better what food you should buy and cook for your family than Jesse Kremer.   If people are poor its their own choice and the best way to deal with it is not legislatively but public shaming of course!

And that is what we are saying, when we talk disdainfully about poor people buying lobster and steak, or nice phones, or new clothes. We are saying, you are not sorry and ashamed enough. You do not hate your poor existence enough. Because when you are poor, you are supposed to take the help that is never enough and stretch it so you have just enough misery to get by. Because when you are poor you are supposed to eat ramen every day and you are supposed to know that every bite of that nutrition-less soup is your punishment for bad life decisions. Your kids are supposed to be mocked at school for their outdated clothes—how else will they know to not end up like you when they grow up?
And for heaven’s sake, the last thing you should be allowed to do is to take one evening with your kids to sit at a table and eat a dish of pure indulgence in the hopes that your children will have a few minutes to feel the same way you did when you were a kid and you weren’t ashamed to exist.

What Walker Is Selling, No One Is Buying

When Scott Walker was revealed to be the incompetent nincompoop he really was, the money that had been pouring into his presidential campaign dried up fast. By the end of 70 short days, he had nothing to show for his presidential aspirations but a debt of more than a million dollars.

Walker tried everything he could think of to get out of the hole he found himself in.

He begged for the money even as the State of Wisconsin was in a downward spiral. He tried to sell chintzy lapel pins made in China and resembling the logo for America's Best Contacts and Eyeglasses. He sold his own home. He tried to sell off his unwanted campaign t-shirts, although he promised the same lack of service that he gave us as governor. He had a rummage sale for his old campaign stuff.

Heck, he even had Ted Cruz trying to help him out.

But despite all of this, Walker is just as deep in the hole as he ever was:

Like a tiresome house guest, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's campaign debt is lingering.

The latest federal filing shows that the GOP governor still has nearly $900,000 in debt from his unsuccessful presidential run, and that donations to retire it dipped last month.

[...]

In April, Walker's presidential campaign took in just under $71,000 in donations and other income, down from the roughly $128,000 that the campaign received in March.

What is also telling is that his presidential campaign didn't end up in debt because of his campaign manager, Rick Wiley, as he led people to believe. One look at his gubernatorial campaign finances show who is the real spendthrift:

The presidential committee is separate from Walker's governor's campaign, which raised more than $500,000 in the second half of last year but spent most of it. That left him with a balance of $20,000 in his state account.

For Walker, failure is not an option...it is the only option.

Mike Tate - The Gift That Keeps Taking

The WISDEMS are getting ready to hold their annual convention, and this year it is in Green Bay. The problem is they have to clean up Mike Tates mess first.  Seems Mr. Tate., of the $12200+/yr salary, was one that did not like paying his bills! 

When officials from the state Democratic Party show up for their convention in Green Bay in a couple of weeks, they may have to pay in cash.
 That's because they still haven't paid the full bill from their 2009 convention at the same hotel.
 Records filed earlier this month with the Federal Election Commission show the state Democratic Party still owes $5,807.34 to the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center — Green Bay.
 The total bill for the event was just over $15,000, according to federal reports. It appears that the party last made a payment for $7,350 in January 2011 but has coughed up zilch since then.

In a time when the Democratic Party should be pointing out the our Governor is delinquent in paying off his $900,000 bar bill that he owes the taxpayers of Wisconsin, instead they have to answer for more of Tate's failures.  

Mike Tate still has a spot on the administration Committee, even after taking the money and running to anti union Chris Abele.  Tate used Abele's money to smear his old friend Chris Larson to win the County Executives race.   On top of that the smear campaign orchestrated by Tate, was so dirty, it drove down turnout and helped us say welcome Justice Bradley.

Clarke: NRA Is The Biggest Civil Rights Movement

In case the gentle reader somehow missed it, the NRA had their convention this past weekend. To help promote this year's propaganda - which is the same as every year's propaganda - they had Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke on Faux News to bash Hillary Clinton by repeatedly referring to Hillary Clinton as "Mrs. Bill Clinton" and accusing her of wanting to take everyone's guns away.

(I thought Barack Obama was going to take everyone's guns away by now. What IS taking so long?!)

Along with the usual right wing nut rhetoric, Clarke couldn't help but come up with some real humdingers like this one:

"Gun-free zones are killing fields, gun-free zones have gotten people killed," Clarke said, pointing out that a majority of mass shootings take place in areas where guns are restricted.

"The only person [who] is safe in a gun-free zone is the criminal."

Another mind-boggling claim by Clarke was when he proclaimed the NRA the greatest civil rights movement in history. This was just an echo of what he said to the convention goers on Friday when he told people they should be bitter gun-clingers:

He warned that being selective about constitutional rights to fit a "leftist agenda" leads to "government tyranny," which garnered applause from the audience. Framers of the Constitution understood the threat posed by strong central government, he said, and that's why they included the safeguard of the Second Amendment.

"They knew that only an armed citizenry could keep the government in check," he said.

In addition, Clarke said Nazi Germany's use of firearm registration laws to confiscate weapons from Jews "rendered them defenseless from attacks."

He also argued that slaves, who were not allowed to possess weapons, were not truly free until the ratification of the 14th Amendment, which granted citizenship to former slaves, "allowed newly freed slaves to arm and...defend themselves against ongoing mob violence, kidnappings and lynchings."

"My ancestors fought hard and shed blood for the right to keep and bear arms for self-defense, and I am not going to cede that right back to the federal government, or any level government for that matter, and neither should you," Clarke said.

On a final note, what really cracked me up its hypocrisy is when Clarke said that Hillary should give up her armed Secret Service guards. This is a guy who carries a gun 24/7 as part of his job and political posturing and also needs an around-the-clock deputies guarding him. I guess his gun isn't much protection after all.

Privatizer Low Class - Robin Vos

We recently brought you the story of how the UW Administration is warning the Professors and other staff, who keep having no confidence votes in their ability to lead, that the Governor is very petty and he will punish the whole university system for criticizing him.   

 The attacks on the University of Wisconsin system have had real and long last effects.   The University of Wisconsin system is truly the engine that drives our economy and for someone in a position as Scott Walker to punish his perceived enemies, because they have a differing opinion while making the whole state suffer for years shows you exactly who Scott Walker and his allies are. 
That an op-ed written by a Professor would have any effect on the UW-System funding in the next budget shows that they are not fit to be on a Junior High Student Council. 

Well as we say here, there is more - There is always more:

It turns out Scott Walkers allies are just as small minded, petty and unfit to govern as he is.

Majority Speaker Robin Vos, who once had this to say about the University of Wisconsin system:

 “Continually, time after time after time, you have embarrassed the state of Wisconsin,” said Rep. Robin Vos, R-Burlington. Seated just feet from him were the targets of his fury: Kevin Reilly, University of Wisconsin System President, and David Ward, interim chancellor of UW-Madison.

Robin Vos, who liked the University of Whitewater so much he took extra time finishing,  is back at it again.  Vos is very upset that the Faculty continue to hold No Confidence votes regarding their Administration and Board of Regents.

 Apparently, Vos is the only person in WI allowed to criticize UW administration.

And UW faculty should be thankful that legislators allowed the Regents to set new tenure guidelines because, Vos said, “I might have eliminated tenure altogether.”
Vos said he only agreed to let the Regents enact new tenure guidelines at the request of Cross.
Walker accused protesting UW faculty members of “groaning.” The governor who will hand the Legislature a proposed budget next year not only hinted that the four-year undergraduate tuition freeze might be extended two more years, but he also added in his weekly public update:

Robin "Small Government"Vos said the people who actually drive our economic engine in WI should be happy that  the GOP appointed Board of Regents.  Robin Vos really does not understand how things work in Wisconsin so let me help.  

The Board is responsible for establishing policies and rules for governing the System, planning to meet future state needs for collegiate education, setting admission standards and policies, reviewing and approving university budgets, and establishing the regulatory framework within which the individual units are allowed to operate with as great a degree of autonomy as possible.  The Board appoints the president of the university system and the chancellors of the 13 universities and UW-Extension and UW Colleges.  The Board grants tenure appointments to faculty members

The Board of Regents is responsible for the things that Robin Vos mistakenly thinks that he is responsible for.  I guess when you feel your superior to the rest of WIsconsin you fee; the need to run every aspect of our lives.  

They will use the taxpayers are paying for the university but that argument really is dishonest:

Walker is right; the total UW System budget is a record $6.19 billion this year.
But only $1.03 billion—or 16 percent—of that will come from state taxes. For nine years, legislators and governors of both parties have kept annual aid to the UW System at about $1.1 billion. In that same period, total UW System spending went up 43 percent—from $4.3 billion to $6.19 billion.

16% of the budget comes from tax dollars yet the WISGOP feel the need to micromanage 100 % of the control.  

Try and figure that one out .....

We have a chance again this November to make real reforms and change in WI and vote out the big government Republicans.

The Kooyenga Kapers

This guy who was drunk on the floor of the Capitol while voting on the budget:

Captain slur words, who was done with his job in early March when session was over, also wrote well plagiarized from ALEC, the "Opportunity schools" bill.  This bill allows the Milwaukee County Executive with no education experience to take over schools, and turn them into unaccountable Charters.

Kooyenga's irony knows no bounds, so he decided to join a forum recently with Milwaukee Teachers Union Executive Director Lauren Baker.

Baker said the per-pupil funding formula values MPS students in some cases thousands of dollars less than their suburban counterparts.Kooyenga called it "a little disingenuous" to push for more funding for MPS students unless she also supports equal funding for voucher and charter schools, which receive about two-thirds the amount of public schools."Would you support raising the choice and voucher amount?" he asked Baker.Baker said she would have that conversation "when you tell me that all of those schools will follow the open meetings and open records laws in Wisconsin so I can see how that money is being spent and I know the accountability standards are the same as they are for public schools."

Kooyenga had this to say:

If we had a local media who was out to inform the public of actual news, here are some questions they might ask.  

The problem with our public education system is teachers are not working enough hours?  Does he have any proof of that?  What exactly does he base that on?  Does he make random statements based on nothing as a general rule?  I am also curious as to how teachers working more hours would fix the budget?  Would teachers grading tests or papers quicker stop the Governor from record borrowing? When was the last time Mr. Kooyenga worked from 7 until 6?  How many days in session are they?

Since no one will ask these questions, we have a good idea what the answers are.

Thankfully for the citizens of Wisconsin, someone took a good look at how awful, unprofessional, unprepared and extreme Mr. Kooyenga is and has decided to step up to run against him.

Wisconsin Democracy Campaign came up with the worst 100 things that have happened in Wisconsin under Scott Walker:

1. Public School Funding – 2011 Act 32 – Cuts state funding for public schools by the largest amount in state history -- $830 million over two years – and creates a school voucher program for Racine. Increases state spending on voucher schools to about $300 million from 2011-13.2. Tech College Funding – 2011 Act 32 – Cuts state funding for technical colleges by the largest amount in state history – $72 million over two years.

The non partisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau released a memo stating that the WISGOP have passed 128 provisions that are either unfunded mandates or directly take away local control.

Included on the list are revenue limit restrictions passed during the 2011-12 legislative session, a measure that prohibits local governments from enforcing a residency requirement for its public employees in 2013-14, and in 2015-16, easing restrictions on development on buildings or homes in a shoreland setback area and requiring all high school seniors to pass a civics test to graduate.
