I was out of town working on some probate stuff when I was checking the news on my phone and read that Civil Rights Activist Jesse Jackson had died. Given the Rev. Jackson's positive impact on the lives of so many Americans of all races, faiths, and stations in life, it made sense that the sitting US President would declare a national period of mourning and issue an order to lower flags to half staff.
I am not finding any such declaration in the news. Am I missing something??
BTW: Trump ordered flags to half staff for 5 days for Charlie Kirk...hardly the same import to the nation as the Rev. Jackson.
Apparently only the State of Illinois is honoring Rev. Jackson in this manner. What's up with the State of Wisconsin, Milwaukee County, or the City of Milwaukee??
