Christian Schneider's Twaddle

By Jeff Simpson

Christian Schneider, the Bradley foundations implant into the Journal Sentinel, was recently lauded for writing a column about how crazy right wing Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke is.

Unfortunately, the kudos were misplaced.   Christian Schneider and his dopplegangers like Charley Sykes, Vicki Mckenna, etc... are responsible for him being in the position he is in.  Which we will get back to later, first I want to give him credit where credit is due.

Schneider, as the ultimate Republican Party insider, let some truth accidentally slip into his column:

Politicians often need permission to talk a certain way — in the GOP's more conservative years, Paul Ryan gave Republicans permission to talk about reforming Social Security and Medicare without committing political suicide. After former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley condemned her state's connection to the Confederate flag, the dam burst and other Republicans followed.

You mean the GOP electeds are all lemmings and are not allowed independent thoughts or actions?  Who knew?

In a first on CogDis I would like to congratulate Mr. Schneider for telling the truth and letting us get a glimpse inside Republican war rooms.

That being said, let's go back to Sheriff Cowboy hat.     Our readers know that we have covered the traveling Sheriff numerous times right here and here among others.   The last thing I would ever do is compliment the Fox News Sheriff.

However many of our friends on the right used to shower him with compliments!

In Clarke's last race against Chris Moews, he squeeked out a victory, by a razor thing margin and had tons of free airplay and a bunch of white suburban voters who were doing what they were told by the one and only Charley Sykes.

They also greatly elevated interest in the race, helping conservative talk radio hosts Mark Belling and Charlie Sykes in their successful effort urging Republicans to vote in the Democratic primary and support Clarke.
Now there is a concerted efforts by the so-called "never trumpers" to take down Sheriff Clarke, not because of his idiotic tendencies, perpetual travel or complete incompetence, but because he has a huge man crush on The Donald(whom they also helped create)

Can we please, please, please, stop giving the right wing Wisconsin cabal credit for trying to rewrite their own history and wash their hands of the mess they made?

These guys set the whole village on fire and are now pretending they have never played with matches!

The Immoral Sheriff Clarke

By Jeff Simpson

I think I want to run for office in Wisconsin.  It seems like the perfect way to get numerous taxpayer funded  vacations to see the world.  The latest is Milwaukee's own Sheriff David Clarke.  Sheriff Clarke was inexplicably in New York and found his way once again onto the Fox and Friends show.

The good people of Milwaukee had to fly the "Democratic" Sheriff out to New York for some very urgent pressing business.  To call Hillary Clinton a racist because she likes hot sauce.

You absolutely can not make this stuff up.

And although many news outlets have noted that Clinton has had a long-documented obsession with hot sauce, conservative media seized on the comments as evidence that she was pandering. On Thursday, the hosts of Fox & Friends asked Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke, who is black, to weigh in.
“I’m surprised she didn’t say watermelon,” Clarke opined, referring to a racist stereotype. “Just go all the way.”
“You know, this stuff is dehumanizing,” he argued. “It’s embarrassing, it’s disgusting.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department Code of Conduct is very clear.

Personal-Professional Capabilities
Police officers will be responsible for their own standard of professional performance and will take every reasonable opportunity to enhance and improve their level of knowledge and competence.
Through study and experience, a police officer can acquire the high level of knowledge and competence that is essential for the efficient and effective performance of duty. The acquisition of knowledge is a never ending process of personal and professional development that should be pursued constantly.
Private Life
Police officers will behave in a manner that does not bring discredit to their agencies or themselves. A police officer's character and conduct while off duty must always be exemplary, thus maintaining a position of respect in the community in which he or she lives and serves. The officer's personal behavior must be beyond reproach.

It is kind of hard to enforce the Code of Conduct when the Boss breaks it on a daily basis.

But wait....There is more!

Speaking of Dehumanizing, embarrassing and disgusting.... SHEriff Clarke is about to cost the taxpayers of Milwaukee a whole lot of money....

See under Sheriff Clarke's rule, the Standard Operating Procedure for women giving birth in jail(there have been 36 of them) has been to make the women give birth while their hands and feet were shackled.   Sheriff Clarke treated his female inmates so poorly that right wing extremist Federal Judge Randa, allowed a class action(with up to 300 women) proceed.

There is a chance that Sheriff Clarke had no idea what was going on in the prison he runs, because he is constantly on right wing radio or TV.  He could have been too busy talking to Charlie Sykes to actually do his job.

However know or not, the responsibility lies with him.

A federal judge is allowing a former Milwaukee County jail inmate who is alleging in a lawsuit she was shackled during childbirth to make class action allegations on behalf of pregnant women or new mothers who also were shackled by county jailers.
The county acknowledged in a court filing that the woman was restrained by handcuffs and a leg restraint while she was in labor and by a handcuff while she was delivering.
There could be as many as 300 women in the class -- which the suit defines as women hospitalized for labor, delivery, or post-partum medical care since February 2010 --  if the lawsuit is allowed to proceed as a class action, the woman's lawyers said in a court filing. Thirty-six jail inmates gave birth between Jan. 1, 2010, and Feb. 19, 2016, according to federal court documents.
The jail is under the jurisdiction of Sheriff David Clarke.
Shackling women in the weeks surrounding giving birth is opposed by the American Correctional Association, the American Bar Association, the American Public Health Association, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American College of Nurse Midwives, and the World Health Organization, the suit said. The US Marshals Services and the Federal Bureau of Prisons has sharply restricted the use of restraints on pregnant women, the suit said.

It takes a real strong man to shackle a woman who is giving birth.  No wonder he wears such a big fake cowboy hat.  He is all hat and no cattle as the saying goes.   I guess if they can push the woman choking David Prosser to the Supreme Court, the WOW counties truly have no standards when it comes to their elected officials.

It is time for Sheriff Clarke to resign/

The Concealed Carry Cost Savings

By Jeff Simpson

We know from Milwaukee's own vigilante lawman, and handicap parker,  Sheriff David Clarke that you can not trust the police it is up to you to arm yourself.

In the ad, a baritone-voiced Clarke sets an ominous tone: "I'm Sheriff David Clarke, and I want to talk to you about something personal: your safety."
With officers laid off and furloughed, Clarke says, calling 911 and waiting for police is no longer your best bet. "You could beg for mercy from a violent criminal, hide under the bed, or you could fight back. But are you prepared?" he asks. "Consider taking a certified safety course in handling a firearm so you can defend yourself until we get there. You have a duty to protect yourself and your family."

We see yesterday how right he was.

There was a hostage situation in Neenah yesterday

Police say a person who was shot in an attack at a motorcycle shop in Neenah has died.
Neenah police held an updated briefing for media around 7 p.m. Saturday to share details of a hostage situation that happened Saturday morning at Eagle Nation Cycles in Neenah.
WBAY-TV reports more than three but fewer than 10 hostages were inside the building during the standoff. A citizen was shot and has died. A Neenah officer was also hurt but has since been treated and released from the hospital. Police say the shots hit his ballistic helmet.
One person has been arrested but police are not releasing any names of those involved at this time. Police say roughly 75 officers responded to the scene.
According to experts like Clarke, we just needed "one good guy" with a gun to defend himself and we could have left the 75 Police officers to do other more important things.

The same thing happened recently with the San Bernadino shooters.   After their reign of terror, they were tracked down by a 13 member SWAT team.

These people could have been home with their families, if only a "good guy with a gun" would have been on campus to defend everyone and stop the shootings.

My Election Thoughts

By Jeff Simpson

Election results here!

1.  Brett Hulsey had a solid showing receiving almost 52000 votes.  Brett Hulsey did not deserve to win, ran a solid campaign, brought up issues that needed to be brought up and did not deserve to be treated as poorly by the party as he was.

If Mary Burke wins tonight, I support her to beat Scott Walker in November.
2.  Mary Jo Walters was the story of the night.   116,006 votes as a relative unknown, who was completely shunned by the party she tried to represent, with no money against the political insider, long time WI Senator who refused to acknowledge her existence.   Congrats Mary Jo and thank you for what you have done.

3.  I have not decided if the 116,006 people who voted for her were saying F U to the Democratic executive committee that endorsed her opponent and shunned her or the Democratic Executive committee and Chairman Tate who treated her like a second class citizen and shut her out of the Democratic convention were saying FU to the 116,006 Wisconsin voters who supported Mary Jo Walters.  Either way it is up to them to heal and bridge the divide NOT the other way around.

4.  When the race is so close, maybe the people did deserve a debate.

5  This cracked me up.   Apparently he forgot to put in the asterisk.  * Only applies to people I approve of running.

6.  The overwhelming win by Rob Zerban surprised me, the overwhelming win by Paul Ryan did not.   I always thought Jeremy Ryan's best chance to win would be to get on the ballot then disappear.  Not a second of campaigning and hope people checked the wrong box.

7.  Every vote matters, ask Janis Ringhand and Ernie Wittwer.

8.  The Democratic establishment lost, ask Pat Bohmack, Jon Richards and Tom Rayome.

9.  Mike Sheridan's political career is over while Robin Vos was given a promotion and I can not figure out the difference between the two.

10.   The extreme's on the R side of the 6th Congressional district were not distinguishable.

11.  Triple dipping Van Wanggaard won, despite the fact he advertised that he had the old Knotsies as supporters.   I would hope that the fact that he is running on a I got mine and now want to pull the ladder up" campaign will be noticeable to the voters in his district!

12.  How in the world can Sheriff Clarke win?  Seriously?   If it was all cross over votes and you did not see that coming, whose fault is that?

13.  Susan Happ will make a great Attorney General.

14.  The low turnout still fails to amaze me and the fact that it is not addressed by the Democratic party also amazes me.  Why go after the imaginary Walker/Obama voters and not after the 80% of the people who did not choose to vote in the primary?   Give people a reason to vote and they will!

15.  Congrats to Dana Duncan, no support from the Dem party, shunned by Wisconsin Progress and won handily.  Now its time to retire Scott Krug.

16.  Scott Walker is beatable, no excuses from the team trying to do so allowed!
