Harley Won't Endorse Walker

As the gentle reader knows, Scott Walker has long used a Harley Davidson motorcycle as a political prop in a vain effort to show that he is an every day kind of guy.

Sadly for Walker, Harley Davidson won't return the love:
But Harley says the company is staying out of presidential politics.

"While there’s no official relationship between Harley-Davidson and Governor Walker, he is passionate about our brand like the millions of other loyal Harley-Davidson customers around the world," Harley-Davidson spokeswoman Maripat Blankenheim said in an email.

She added that Harley dealerships are independent businesses.

“It’s important to note our dealerships are independently owned and operated businesses,” Blankenheim wrote. “Harley-Davidson Motor Company does not endorse any candidate and remains neutral in political campaigns.”
I can't say that I blame them. After all, if they were to endorse Walker, or any other candidate, they'd have nothing to gain and a lot to lose.

Besides, who would want to have their brand linked to this?

That sort of thing will have people imaging this every time they see a Harley:

Surely, that wouldn't be good for business at all.

Who Says It Was A Staffer?

Dan Bice of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has a little piffle piece about a press release issued by Scott Walker's office in which the town of Delavan is misspelled.  Delavan is the town where Walker grew up, at least physically. (Many believe he never grew up emotionally.)

This raises three points/questions for me:

  1. Walker's hometown, where he is originally from, is Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Both Walker's office and Bice missed that fact.
  2. Either way, is this really worthy of a news item?
  3. Who says that it was one of his staffers that wrote the release?  Walker is not exactly considered to be a master speller himself.

An Interesting Three Day Juxtaposition

Today is Samhain, or Halloween, if you prefer. It is also known as All Hallow's Eve.

Tonight's the night when all sorts of bugaboos are supposed to roam the land. Ghosts, ghouls, goblins and things that go bump in the night. Witches, when not running for public office in Delaware, go flying through the night sky. Zombies want to eat your brains, vampires want to drain your veins, and Republicans want to steal your soul.

Then, Monday is All Saint's Day, or All Hallows Day. This is a day of solemn celebration for Catholics and is meant to commemorate the beatified. It is a day when all that is good reign over the earth.

Tuesday is another Catholic holiday known as All Souls Day. It is also Election Day. That is of course when the forces of good enjoin in battle against the forces of Republicans evil, for the soul of the nation and the state.

It's kind of neat the way they all fit together, isn't it?

Their Deepest Fear

Do you know what the deepest fear that Andy Martin, Scott Walker and the other homophobes all share?

Succumbing to bedbug powder.

Wow, He's Really Good

On his twitter account, Walker put up a post on December 5th, at 10:09 saying that he was on Channel 12 news, and then was going to do some trap shooting.

Eleven minutes later, he tweets that he shot some birds.

I'm impressed. In eleven minutes, he made it out to Rochester and shot some birds.

I'd be more impressed but trap shooting is with clay targets, not real birds like the ones he shot.

Any guesses that the birds were on some game farm? He's such a sportsman. */snark*

A Little Late For That, Don't You Think?

I mean, after all this time, if he's not trained by now, do you think he ever will be?

What Did He Have For Lunch?

Let's see:

Scott Walker boasts about his campaign bike ride on a Harley, and Harley Davidson runs into an economic brick wall and lays off over a thousand workers and closes their Franklin plant.

Then just before his campaign bike ride, he officially announces his campaign, and has a website developed by an agency out of Ohio, claiming no one in Wisconsin could do the job. Funny thing is, one of his primary rivals had no problem finding a local agency more than capable of doing the job, but in a rather good fashion on top of that.

When Walker finally goes on said campaign bike ride, it is sponsored by Georgia-based Air Tran. While on his illegally funded bike ride, local airline Midwest Express crashes and burns.

With the lack of support that Walker has shown for local business, I would not find it surprising that while Patrick Cudahy had been burning day and night, Walker would've have taken time from his power tweeting, to do a campaign luncheon, eating bacon cheeseburgers, with real California cheese and Missouri-based Farmland bacon.
