Searching For Regulations

By Jeff Simpson

We all know that its costly liberal regulations that are killing small business in this country.   We know it has nothing to do with wages declining for the last thirty years or the move(thanks to our insane free trade agreements) from a manufacturing society to a service society or the decline of unionization in our country.  None of that has hurt us at all, it is strictly the overbearing burden of regulation of business(all of which has been forced upon us by liberal politicians) that has cost us jobs and kept us from recovering.

Just ask Kevin O'Leary from ABC's Shark Tank:

In this clip, successful investor Kevin O’Leary from ABC’s hit show “Shark Tank” eloquently and persuasively destroys many of the myths of the “1 percent” and describes in personal detail how many of the small businesses he works with have to spend nearly $20,000 to $30,000 a year complying with federal regulations.
O’Leary is spot on, confirming Heritage research finding that “during President Obama’s first four years in office, the annual regulatory burdens on Americans increased by nearly $70 billion.”

Then self proclaimed Mr. Wonderful issued a challenge:

O’Leary challenges President Obama to hear for himself the adverse impact of federal regulations on America’s small businesses. These are the hard-working men and women, O’Leary says, who will create jobs.

Being a supporter of President Obama, I thought I would take him up on that!   Unfortunately the first person I went to talk to....cant:

 MILWAUKEE -
Three weeks after falling from the Opa roller coaster at the Mt. Olympus a 63-year-old man remains in an induced coma.
Tony Theisen was visiting Wisconsin Dells with his wife Kay along with another couple.
"Toward the end, one of the last turns of the ride he was ejected off the ride and he was thrown 17 feet," said Todd R. Korb, an attorney representing the family. "He hit a number of times as he went down and when he hit the ground he hit with his head right on a metal bar and he suffered a skull fracture. He has a fractured scapula, four fractured vertebrae, fractured toes, a fractured finger, dislocated shoulder, but he’s had a traumatic, very life-altering brain injury."
Korb said a safety test was conducted on the Opa roller coaster on March 25. Sand bags were placed on the ride to simulate the approximate weight of Theisen.
Korb said when the ride reached the point in the track with Theisen was ejected, the lap bar opened up.
A report on the accident blames a faulty lap bar for allowing Theisen to be ejected.

Then I thought I could wait on Mr. Thiesen so I tried to track down 13 other people who might be experts on the subject of too much Government regulation.  It turned out they were not able to talk to me either.

Federal safety regulators received more than 260 complaints over the last 11 years about General Motors vehicles that suddenly turned off while being driven, but they declined to investigate the problem, which G.M. now says is linked to 13 deaths and requires the recall of more than 1.6 million cars worldwide.

I will keep on the lookout for more people who can tell me the awful burden of regulations on business!   In the meantime, turn into ABC's Shark Tank where Mr. O Leary will take a great idea from a desperate entrepreneur and turn it into millions and then ship all of the jobs overseas and screw over the orignator of the idea!    Its classic TV Viewing.

Republican Extremists!

Congressman Richard Hanna (R-NY) is fed up with the GOP and so should we all be!

“I have to say that I’m frustrated by how much we — I mean the Republican Party — are willing to give deferential treatment to our extremes in this moment in history,” he told The Post-Standard editorial board.

…“We render ourselves incapable of governing when all we do is take severe sides…” he said. “If all people do is go down there and join a team, and the team is invested in winning and you have something that looks very similar to the shirts and the skins, there’s not a lot of value there.”

…“I would say that the friends I have in the Democratic Party I find … much more congenial — a little less anger,” he said.

The problem is the vast majority of the current party ARE the extremists! Case in point in Idaho:

The giant sign on Franklin Road and North 21st Avenue features a photo of Holmes with the words, "Kills 12 in a movie theater with assault rifle, everyone freaks out," written under his picture, juxtaposed to a photo of Obama with the words, "Kills thousands with foreign policy, wins Nobel Peace Prize," written below.

The billboard often features anti-Obama messages, and is sponsored by The Ralph Smeed Foundation, the supporters of the late activist for libertarian causes in Idaho. Foundation member and former state lawmaker Maurice Clements, told The Idaho Statesman the billboard is a response to Obama's 'broken promise' to bring home the troops.
There are also plenty more examples, such as in Texas where it looks like a loony right wing extreme blogger will get elected to the House of Representatives!  Lets hope Freddy, Wiggy and Kev do not get any ideas!

In mid-May, Texas Republican congressional candidate Wes Riddle posted a new note on his Facebook page. It was written by his spokesman, Garrett Smith, and it was dire. "The reasoning for President Obama's impeachment," Smith wrote, "begins with the fact that the State Department is giving away seven strategic, resource-laden Alaskan islands to Russia." According to the statement, Riddle—who has Rep. Ron Paul's endorsement and stands a good chance of winning in November if he can make it out of next Tuesday's runoff—believed that Obama's unprecedented giveaway included at least one island the size of Rhode Island and Delaware combined, "billions of barrels of oil" from offshore deposits, and unknown strategic advantages.

"The agreement was negotiated in total secrecy, not allowing the state of Alaska to participate in the negotiations, and…the public was not given any opportunity to comment," he wrote.
Huh Wha????  And I thought our right wing bloggers were insane and full of BS... In case your wondering what is the problem with what he said?   Everything!

There were a few problems with this indictment of Obama: The president hadn't given away any islands; the treaty in question had been signed by President George H.W. Bush in 1991; none of the islands, which are well on the other side of the international boundary, had ever been officially claimed by the United States; and Alaska's two US senators at the time had publicly endorsed the measure. Smith's rant, much of which was copied word for word from a WorldNetDaily article, was based on a falsehood.
More examples come from throughout the country with a heavy emphasis in Kansas...Compromise with democrats while in office, and you will pay the price.

Frustrated by their inability to achieve some policy goals, conservatives in Republican states are turning against moderate members of their own party, trying to drive them out of state legislatures to clear the way for reshaping government across a wide swath of mid-America controlled by the GOP.

Political groups are helping finance the efforts by supporting primary election challenges targeting several dozen moderate Republicans in the Midwest and South, especially prominent lawmakers who run key state committees.

Two years after Republicans swept into power in many state capitols, the challengers say it's time to adopt more conservative policies.

Why wouldn't we want to go to even more extreme with our policies??  Maybe if we elect enough of these nuts we can get Wes Riddle's imaginary islands back!

Finally, while anything having to do with the "tea party" is extreme and insane,  someone besides our humble blog is fighting back!  This gem taken from facebook!

Some Call It Sedition...

others call it just another day in the republican party!   Surprisingly, this is not in WI but in our neighbors to the west Iowa.   A republican state senate candidate has decided to bow out of the race and declare herself Senator of alternative form of Government!

A Republican state Senate candidate in Iowa has decided to bow out of the race and become a U.S. senator of an alternative form of government.

In a letter released Friday, Randi Shannon informs supporters of her new position as “U.S. Senator in the Republic of the United States of America.” You see, according to Shannon, the U.S. government has been acting unlawfully as the “‘official government,’ which clearly it is not!”

The libertarian-leaning group she joined claims it “re-inhabited” the government on March 30, 2010. The group claims the “United States Corporation” unlawfully formed in 1871 without the American people’s consent. “Since 1871, the abuses of this corporation upon both the international community as well as the American people are inestimable and unconscionable,” the group’s website claims.

"Senator" Shannon even wrote a letter(surprisingly it wasnt in crayons)::
  ]]
Hello everyone, my name is Randi Shannon, and I have been honored to be Iowa’s Republican Candidate for The Office of State Senator in District 34. The support I have received from so many in this district has been just incredible! I will never forget your commitment to my campaign!

I want to especially thank my fellow Ron Paul for President Supporters, My Fellow Members of Liberty,My Friends who home school as did I, the many Pro-Life Members who have been so supportive of my candidacy over these past few months, and of course all my supporters in the Republican Party who have offered me so much help and encouragement, including many Republican Office holders here in Iowa, I  promise you, your efforts on My behalf will be remembered.
 Ummmmmmmm

The republican party gets crazier by the day, and each turn they take on the looney clock is that much worse for America.   Since Dirty Rotten Scoundrels describes the republican party perfectly these days, how long until they run Ruprecht for Senate?
