10 Stories Flying Under The Radar

By Jeff Simpson

It has been a busy time of the year, and as you have noticed we have not done much blogging lately.  I still have somewhere around 783537 tabs open so time to clear it up a bit and share what I have been reading.

1.  The Donald has a new man crush - China's President Xi Jinping:

"He's now president for life. President for life. No, he's great," Trump said. "And look, he was able to do that. I think it's great. Maybe we'll have to give that a shot some day."
Nothing says Patriotic American like admiring a Communist dictator who has suspended all laws, to stay in power for life.  To be fair, we are nothing if not fair here, its a sweet gig to be able to golf 1/4 days in your job AND make a profit and full salary!

You would think that golfing that many days in a year he would be good at it and not have to "cheat like hell".

If only we could call a Mulligan on his election.

2.  Six teens are running for Governor of Kansas.  Following Sam Brownbacks incredible mess, Ole Yeller would be an improvement so why not some intelligent teens?

Interesting fact, from the article that has been overlooked.  Every one of these teens has more experience around girls than Glenn Grothman.

3.  The AR-15 lover, Republican Assemblyman Adam Jarchow, has announced he will not seek re-election.  Jarchow recently got beat badly by Patty Schactner when he tried to get a promotion to the Wisconsin Senate.  Jarchow, decided to take his ball and go home after his whooping. telling us that he is full of shit and does not belong in government as his reasoning.  The story here though, is the person running on the WISGOP side to replace Jarchow  - Gae Magnafici.  Gae has a great name but might possibly be the worst dresser in the history of mankind.

4. Tammy Baldwin recently was the guest at a Wispolitics luncheon where Leah Vukmir, tried to confront her with a gotcha question of "What do you have against corporate share buybacks and massive layoffs?".  If it is good enough for the undead, it is good enough for all of us!

5. Speaking of Vukmir - does she ever work?

6.  Did you hear there was another school shooting.  Dale Hansen explains why we can not do anything about it:

7.  Leah Vukmir again(remember her from above), says your wrong, if we stop worrying about teenagers feelings we can stop these shootings!
The self-esteem movement has become an entrenched feature in our schools and homes. The emergence of a psychotherapeutic culture of cushioning self-esteem at all costs has led to school programs aimed at coddling teens instead of encouraging their growth and independence …[O]ur national obsession with the feelings of teenagers has played an enormous but heretofore unrecognized role in what is transpiring nationwide. Unless we change our attitudes and approach to dealing with the normal developmental phase of years known as adolescence, I fear another Columbine is inevitable.
Dont worry Leah, The Donald hears you!

8.  Ben Shapiro, the racist snowflake who Robin Vos wrote special protection legislation in WI for, really hates that African Americans are allowed to be in movies.

9.  Speaking of Republicans, progressives, independents, moderates and the citizens of America have a new arch enemy - The DCCC!
Last night, Annie Rice won a resounding victory, with nearly 60 percent of 8th ward voters choosing her to represent them on the city's Board of Aldermen.
But later this month, the Democratic Central Committee will weigh a bylaw change directly aimed at punishing Rice's supporters. If members approve the proposed amendments, anyone who "supports or endorses" candidates like Rice "shall be subject to censure." Committee members who follow in Rice's footsteps and run for office without the party's blessing could face removal.

10.  Want to make your boss happy?  Send people to his hotel so he can make some more money!

Bonus:   Remember when after the last election all local progressive talk was taken off the radio because "no one listened", well not sure it was the best business move.  With hate radio dominating the air waves, what happens?

Bankruptcy of course! So long Iheartradio we barely got to know you.

Double Bonus:  Nothing really matters because the crayfish are going to take over the world anyway.

"Koch Industries is just a terrible, terrible citizen"

Kansas State Senator Tim Owens is a moderate Republican that was unseated thanks in a large part by the Koch Brothers and their teahadist group, Americans for (Koch's) Prosperity. The Kochs, as you already know, bankrolls AFP to attack anyone and everyone who they see as a threat, like Owens.

Owens did an interview with David Weigel of Slate and here is what he said of the Kochs and AFP:
Slate: But I'm curious, did the Kansas Chamber or any of the groups that opposed you try to work on you before spending money in the election?

Owens: They wrote me off early on. They went after the eight moderates they saw as impediments. And the challengers were backed very strongly by the Americans for Prosperity. I don't know if you've heard of them, but they basically have an anti-tax philosophy. They were started by Koch Industries and the Koch brothers, that's where the money comes from against us. The local Chambers are wholly owned by Koch Industries and AFP.

Slate: But Koch Industries is a Kansas-based company that ostensibly provides jobs in Kansas, pays taxes in Kansas.

Owens: Sure, but they are absolutely opposed to taxes. If it were up to them they'd want us to do away with all taxes and leave them alone. They may be a Kansas business, they may be the biggest company run by a single family, but they need to be asking the question "What can we do for Kansas?" and not "What can Kansas do for us?" Koch Industries is just a terrible, terrible citizen as far as I'm concerned. I think Koch Industries has done a major disservice to the state of Kansas.
More significantly is what the Koch agenda will do to Kansas if they are allowed to continue unchecked:
Slate: And you were targeted, at least in part, because you opposed the tax plan. Why did you oppose it?

Owens: I've seen projections that say we'd be at a $2.7 billion in five years if we cut taxes too deeply. We have a constiutional mandate in Kansas that we have to balance the budget. if we're $2.7 billion in the hole, we either have to go back and raise taxes, which the new senators won't do, or we have to cut the programs. What do you cut in Kansas, where 67% of the budget is K-12 or higher ed? You're talking about higher ed taking a huge hit, and I suppose you're expecting private or parochical school to fill the gap. But Kansas right now is sixth in the nation for quality of public education. The theory, as I understand it, will be that businesses will bring enough new jobs to Kansas to make up the difference in funding. But if part of his tax plan is to eliminate income tax, it's not gonna make a lot of difference, is it? Do they raise the property tax instead? The whole theory is haywire.
Gee, doesn't that sound like what's going on in Fitzwalkerstan?

Republican Extremists!

Congressman Richard Hanna (R-NY) is fed up with the GOP and so should we all be!

“I have to say that I’m frustrated by how much we — I mean the Republican Party — are willing to give deferential treatment to our extremes in this moment in history,” he told The Post-Standard editorial board.

…“We render ourselves incapable of governing when all we do is take severe sides…” he said. “If all people do is go down there and join a team, and the team is invested in winning and you have something that looks very similar to the shirts and the skins, there’s not a lot of value there.”

…“I would say that the friends I have in the Democratic Party I find … much more congenial — a little less anger,” he said.

The problem is the vast majority of the current party ARE the extremists! Case in point in Idaho:

The giant sign on Franklin Road and North 21st Avenue features a photo of Holmes with the words, "Kills 12 in a movie theater with assault rifle, everyone freaks out," written under his picture, juxtaposed to a photo of Obama with the words, "Kills thousands with foreign policy, wins Nobel Peace Prize," written below.

The billboard often features anti-Obama messages, and is sponsored by The Ralph Smeed Foundation, the supporters of the late activist for libertarian causes in Idaho. Foundation member and former state lawmaker Maurice Clements, told The Idaho Statesman the billboard is a response to Obama's 'broken promise' to bring home the troops.
There are also plenty more examples, such as in Texas where it looks like a loony right wing extreme blogger will get elected to the House of Representatives!  Lets hope Freddy, Wiggy and Kev do not get any ideas!

In mid-May, Texas Republican congressional candidate Wes Riddle posted a new note on his Facebook page. It was written by his spokesman, Garrett Smith, and it was dire. "The reasoning for President Obama's impeachment," Smith wrote, "begins with the fact that the State Department is giving away seven strategic, resource-laden Alaskan islands to Russia." According to the statement, Riddle—who has Rep. Ron Paul's endorsement and stands a good chance of winning in November if he can make it out of next Tuesday's runoff—believed that Obama's unprecedented giveaway included at least one island the size of Rhode Island and Delaware combined, "billions of barrels of oil" from offshore deposits, and unknown strategic advantages.

"The agreement was negotiated in total secrecy, not allowing the state of Alaska to participate in the negotiations, and…the public was not given any opportunity to comment," he wrote.
Huh Wha????  And I thought our right wing bloggers were insane and full of BS... In case your wondering what is the problem with what he said?   Everything!

There were a few problems with this indictment of Obama: The president hadn't given away any islands; the treaty in question had been signed by President George H.W. Bush in 1991; none of the islands, which are well on the other side of the international boundary, had ever been officially claimed by the United States; and Alaska's two US senators at the time had publicly endorsed the measure. Smith's rant, much of which was copied word for word from a WorldNetDaily article, was based on a falsehood.
More examples come from throughout the country with a heavy emphasis in Kansas...Compromise with democrats while in office, and you will pay the price.

Frustrated by their inability to achieve some policy goals, conservatives in Republican states are turning against moderate members of their own party, trying to drive them out of state legislatures to clear the way for reshaping government across a wide swath of mid-America controlled by the GOP.

Political groups are helping finance the efforts by supporting primary election challenges targeting several dozen moderate Republicans in the Midwest and South, especially prominent lawmakers who run key state committees.

Two years after Republicans swept into power in many state capitols, the challengers say it's time to adopt more conservative policies.

Why wouldn't we want to go to even more extreme with our policies??  Maybe if we elect enough of these nuts we can get Wes Riddle's imaginary islands back!

Finally, while anything having to do with the "tea party" is extreme and insane,  someone besides our humble blog is fighting back!  This gem taken from facebook!

Nuff Said!
