In an interview with reporters after the debate, Neumann declined to criticize Walker's educational background. Walker attended Marquette University but did not graduate.
Walker said he didn't graduate because he got a job and he suggested that in the current economy college students close to graduating might consider doing the same.
What an irresponsible statement to make! Besides the fact that college graduates earn more money, in this troubled economy (which Walker wants to bring further into ruin with his Bush-style economics), it is important for people to have every advantage they can. And a college education is an undeniable advantage.
Perhaps if Walker finished his degree, he would have realized the importance of balanced budgets and of proper and timely maintenance.
Channel 12, WISN-TV, also covered the debate after the fact. In their news video, they unwittingly air a very ironic statement from Walker regarding health care. Walker stated that he did not feel that the federal or state government has a right to tell people what to do with their health care. That is an odd thing for Walker to say, considering that for the first seven of his eight years as county executive, he did the very thing which he claims now to oppose while running the GAMP program.
I must say though that I have a deeper appreciation of the frustration Neumann supporters are feeling. If Neumann wants to win he primary, he will need to continue to press his advantages over Walker, including Walker's hypocrisy and failures as county executive. It can be done without making it appear as an attack, even though Walker's people are so adept at playing the martyr that it is irrelevant of whether Neumann does attack or not.

I just might have to go this time around. I would like to do some tolchocking with Mr. Westlake. My dear and only friend,
I was talking with me droog the post-corrective advisor after our last round at the milkbar, and he says something I thought was real horrorshow: "Want to have Dave Westlake come here again?" After a sip of the old knifey moloko, I says, "Yeah, and, Tom Nelson will be showing up for a liberal tolchocking, too!"
Let me translate that if it's been a while since you've read "A Clockwork Orange." Tom Nelson and Dave Westlake, who are respectively Democratic and Republican candidates for lieutenant governor and U.S. Senate, will be at the next Drinking Liberally.
It's the second time we'll have Westlake pay a visit, and the first time we'll have met Nelson. Last time we had Westlake, he and Congressional candidate Todd Kolosso had an impromptu debate. What will what happens this time? Come find out!
Speaking as Your Cordial Host, in no way do I endorses or espouses "tolchocking" a candidate for office, as Alex may have done in that infamous novel. But Drinking Liberally gives you the chance to give them a good verbal workout. Come armed with questions! I hope you'll leave satisfied either with the answers you receive or with the beer you get at Sugar Maple. Speaking of...
Where: Sugar Maple, 441 E. Lincoln Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53207
When: Wednesday 18 August, 7:00 - 9:00 PM
Who: You, and fifteen of your new best friends.
Till the 18th!

Tom Barrett is still working hard for the citizens and is still pushing the feds to cough up some money for the individuals most affected:Meanwhile, Scott Walker, who showed his true colors by leaving his county high and dry when it was down and drowning, just so he could go campaigning, still hasn't learned from all the negative backlash he got from his self-centeredness and is still avoiding all of his responsibilities so he can go out and sell his snake oil to captive evidence. The mayor outlined concerns in the letter at a news conference in the 4900 block of N. 64th St., in a neighborhood among the hardest hit by flood damage in Milwaukee.
Though the disaster declaration issued earlier this week for Milwaukee and Grant counties by President Barack Obama's administration makes local governments eligible for federal relief, it provides no assistance to residents who suffered lost homes or property damage.
In Milwaukee, where Barrett said 95% of homes have basements, basement flooding can cause damage to furnaces, electrical systems, washers, dryers and, in many cases, living quarters that can leave a home uninhabitable.
"The situation for most of Milwaukee's properties is actually much more serious than the (affected) designation indicates," Barrett said in the letter.
Meanwhile, the Department of Public Works announced Friday that Milwaukee sanitation crews will collect flood-damaged debris indefinitely.
The move was announced after Ald. Ashanti Hamilton released a statement complaining about an earlier plan to end free debris pickup Friday. He argued that the city wasn't doing enough to help flood victims or to prevent flooding and sewage backups that damaged hundreds of area homes.
"We must recognize - we are still in emergency mode," Hamilton's statement said. "The recovery process must be treated with the same sense of urgency and importance as the floods themselves were."
Since the storms, the city has received more than 9,600 calls for flood debris collection, and crews have collected 6,031 tons of flood-damaged trash. Almost 1,000 additional calls have been received this week.
The city's Self-Help Centers, 3879 W. Lincoln Ave. and 6660 N. Industrial Road, also will accept flood debris from residents, DPW officials said.
Barrett's letter said 390 tons of flood debris has been taken to the centers.
Holding one of his trademark "brown bag" events in Worzalla Publishing Co.'s factory, Walker spent much of his presentation talking about his work to cut taxes and efforts to spur economic development in Milwaukee County. The campaign's paper lunch bags, emblazoned with ideas, "Don't spend more than you have," and, "I have to brown bag it so I can pay Wisconsin's taxes," lay on the folding chairs set up for company employees. For someone who made the claim of getting every single person in the state a job, you would think that he'd have an idea of how he would go about doing it by now.
Walker didn't offer many specifics about how he would create jobs, but he said his plan to cut taxes, reduce government regulations to a handful of rules that are "science-based and predictable" and put an end to "frivolous and out-of-control lawsuits" would encourage growth.
Walker issues hefty raises to top Milwaukee County aidesI think that actually covers all three points in one.
was a wei
rd, distorted version of the real Superman. In the Bizarro universe, everything was backwards. In other words, up was down and good was bad.In 2008, Milwaukee County had a budget of $1,342,940,239 and $18,600,330 in overtime costs - 1.4 percent of its overall budget. The state in 2008 had a budget of $29,142,261,200 and $66.5 million in overtime costs - a mere 0.2 percent of its overall budget. Walker has averaged $15 million in overtime costs a year throughout his tenure as county executive. Milwaukee County Department of Administrative Services; Milwaukee County Executive Budgets: 2003-2009; Wisconsin Legislative Fiscal Bureau]In the same proposal as the overtime, Bizarro Walker also said that he would cut waste in the form of fraud, specifically citing child care fraud in an advertisement.
"The state's audit was released in tandem with a Milwaukee County audit that found the county lacks a strategic approach to finding fraud and has no way to routinely identify suspicious billing," the story said.
The story noted county Audit Director Jerome Heer's report said there was "little in the way of a coherent approach to fraud."
Indeed, I had pointed out last year the tale of Cindy Jaeger, who was not only leading the county in ferreting out and recouping fraud, but was also the best in the state and the nation. Cindy did this despite being part of the severely understaffed Income Maintenance Program which the state had to eventually take over due to Walker's ineptitude.
"Tom Barrett is yet again trying to desperately shift attention away from failures of his pal (Gov.) Jim Doyle," said a statement from Keith Gilkes, Walker's campaign manager. "Nice try, Tom. The problems continue to be with state licensed child care facilities and the fact that Jim Doyle has failed to fix this program after years of abuse within the system."
His campaign noted the state is in charge of the program and the county merely implements the policies for Wisconsin Shares at the local level.
Um, yeah. Unless Walker's team can show the state law that says they are supposed to pay out money fraudulently, all they did is reinforce the fact that Walker couldn't run the program worth a damn. Not exactly something you want to show in order to run the entire state.)
"It doesn't matter what I do. People need to hear what I have to say. There's no one else who can say what I can say. It doesn't matter what I live."
