Scott Walker - Captain Chaos

By Jeff Simpson

In yet another stop in the "Wisconsin Taxpayers pay for Scott Walker to do anything but actually govern" tour, Scott Walker spent the day at the White House!

On the day of the incredibly UnAmerican partial Muslim ban, Scott Walker spent the day in the White House Celebrating with The Donald and the other guy who is Vice President and I can never seem to remember his name!

When you spend your day posing a religious test on certain people in this world, what else is there to do but celebrate and take pictures marking this momentous day!

The stupidity of the "ban" and its complex far-reaching dire consequences are for another post another day.  I just want to point out that wherever Scott Walker seems to turn up, chaos follows!

As Scott Walker was sitting in the White House discussing how poorly Muslim Countries treat women with family values "Christians" Newt Gingrich and the other guy:

This was happening just down the road at Dulles Airport:

Your not a leader if all you do is create chaos!

By the way- Winner for best sign at the Protests!

Paul Ryan's Intern Program

By Jeff Simpson

What exactly was Mitt Romney/Paul Ryan teaching these kids?

A former intern for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney was arrested Tuesday over an alleged sexual extortion scheme.

In a press release, the FBI said 21-year-old Adam Savader allegedly stalked 15 different women from three states between May 2012 and this past February.

The New York Daily News reported that Savader was a political science major at SUNY Farmingdale. He had worked on the political campaigns of Newt Gingrich, Paul Ryan, and Romney.

Savader claimed to have nude photos of the women, and threatened to release the photos unless they sent him more. He demanded that one woman answer “a series of personal questions, relating to sexual preferences, positions, etc.,” according to a FBI complaint. He also informed at least two women that he was masturbating to their stolen pictures.

“I swear on all that is holy. If you fuck with me again I will send these to your parents. I have no problem sending them to ur [sic] parents, friends and sorority sisters unless you cooperate by answering me,” he allegedly told one woman.
To be fair, since Mitt cancelled their credit cards the minute he knew he lost, the kid just needed some cash!

Paul Ryan

Paul Ryan (R- Wall St.) is back at it. By back at it, I mean punishing anyone who dares speak up against him, all the while being the dishonest, unethical, politician America was introduced to during the campaign.

First we start off with the fact that, under republican party rules, there are term limits to heading committees. As head of the Budget Committee, Paul Ryan has reached his term limit.  Well rules do not matter to Paul Ryan, and he was recently re-appointed to be head of the Budget Committee.  This despite John Boehner promising "no special treatment".

Another complication for leaders is Rep. Paul Ryan’s return to the House. Leaders are expected to reappoint the Wisconsin Republican as head of the Budget Committee even though he’s reached the term limit for committee heads. That has others wondering why the party’s golden boy is getting special treatment.

“I have told John Boehner that I will abide by what John wants,” Homeland Security Chairman Pete King (R-N.Y.) told POLITICO. “I was told that nobody would be getting waivers, including Paul Ryan. Obviously, if Paul is going to get a waiver, I will discuss it with the speaker.”

Once re-installed, then Paul Ryan did what he does best, punish those who have ever spoke up against him.

Two of the most conservative Republicans in the House of Representatives have been kicked off the House Budget Committee, a rare move that could make it easier for the panel to advance a deal with Democrats to cut fiscal deficits.

Representatives Tim Huelskamp of Kansas and Justin Amash of Michigan - both favorites of the anti-tax Tea Party movement - are among those Republicans voting most often against House Speaker John Boehner......

"This is clearly a vindictive move and a sure sign that the GOP establishment cannot handle disagreement," he said.

Huelskamp and Amash had said that despite sweeping changes to the Medicare and Medicaid healthcare programs, committee chairman Paul Ryan's budget did not make deep enough cuts to entitlement programs and military spending........

Huelskamp and Amash cast the only House Budget Committee votes against Ryan's budget plan earlier this year.

Which is strange because Frank Luntz was given a national stage where he told us time and time again how great a conservative Paul Ryan was.   It was such a lovefest, it is almost as if Paul Ryan paid him to do it!

CBS News political analyst Frank Luntz had a major undisclosed conflict of interest while appearing on the network. While Luntz used his pre-election platform on CBS to praise Rep. Paul Ryan, his consulting firm, Luntz Global LLC, received $40,000 in consulting and polling fees from Rep. Paul Ryan's congressional campaign.

On CBS, Luntz called Ryan a "very popular" congressman who could help Romney win Wisconsin. Luntz also used his CBS appearances to attack his client's vice presidential opponent. He claimed that Biden's debate performance was a turnoff to voters and suggested it showed that the Obama administration can't work with congress. Luntz made eleven CBS appearances to discuss the presidential campaign from September 24 -- when Luntz's firm first received a payment from Ryan -- through November.

According to reports filed with the Federal Election Commission, Ryan's successful 2012 congressional campaign paid Luntz Global LLC $20,000 on September 24 for "Polling: Dial Session" and $20,000 on October 9 for "Advertising: Ad Consulting." (Ryan's year-end FEC report, covering all of October through December, is not due until January 31.)

Luntz is a Republican operative (despite some apparent confusion from CBS) who is perhaps best known for helping write and market Newt Gingrich's Contract with America. New York Times Magazine contributor Robert Draper reported that Luntz orchestrated a 2009 meeting where prominent Republicans, including Paul Ryan, formulated a plan to gain control of congress and The White House.

Luntz's lack of disclosure may violate CBS Corporation's standards of conduct. The CBS Corporation Business Conduct Statement on conflicts of interest informs CBS employees, "including those employed on a temporary, freelance, intern, or per diem basis,"  that "in all cases" they "must disclose all potential conflicts of interest" to CBS:

Sunday's Discussion

This week former republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum, defended Penn St and Joe Paterno's handling of allowing an assistant coach prey on young boys for twelve years.

SANTORUM: I actually read the Freeh Report. I don’t know if you did or not, but I did. And, my concern with the Freeh report, a lot of the conclusions in the Freeh report aren’t matched by the evidence that they presented and so I’ve been talking to a lot of folks at Penn State and they say, ‘you’re just gonna have to wait for the criminal trial of these two guys at Penn State.’ I think there is going to be a whole new line set on what really went on there. So I’m sort of sitting back and waiting for the facts to come out as opposed to at least I’m being told is a version of the facts. … Let’s get the truth. So I think we’re going to see some things come up a little different in the next six months. I just want to make sure we get it right.

I actually voted for Rick Santorum in the presidential primary.   Not because I felt he was the best person, but because I see the republican party as insane these days(and I am not alone).   The problem with primaries is only the true believers pay attention and many have no idea how extreme this party is.   I felt that putting Rick Santorum(understanding I only had one vote) on the national stage would help to show their true colors to the vast majority of independents in this country.

I now realize I was wrong, because(as we see with the support of Mitt) that if Santorum would have been the candidate it would not matter how crazy he is, many people would vote for him anyway.  Is he that much worse than Mitt?  Is it better to swim with crocodiles or alligators?

The question is, was I wrong for voting for Santorum?  Do people even care that the republican party has become so extreme?  is there anything that would make the republicans NOT vote for the candidate with the R after their name?  While I have admitted the error of my ways, what about the people who actually voted for Santorum as a real candidate? or Newt?   DO not forget Rick Santorum was American for Prosperity's Poverty's candidate of choice!

Mitt's NAACP Gamble

We covered Mitt 's speech at the NAACP the other day where he brought up wanting to end Obamacare and was summarily booed! It turns out that was not the end of the story.  There is much more here, that shows that Mitt made an intentional gamble and we will see how it plays out.

According to the Washington Post, Mitt got EXACTLY what he was looking for:

Was he hoping to be booed, as Nancy Pelosi has suggested? Well, Romney himself told Neil Cavuto of Fox News that he’d fully expected the reaction he got. He can’t have been innocent of the fact that the term ‘Obamacare’ is a provocation to many Democrats. Or unaware that describing the president as someone who “has not, will not, cannot” create jobs went beyond just saying the rivals disagree. The post-boo brouhaha has been great for Romney. And given that the man is no fool, I vote that those dots don’t need much connecting.

The former Massachusetts governor didn’t go to the NAACP expecting to win votes. In fact, his true audience wasn’t the one in Houston, but the one in Montana, at a fund-raiser later the same day, where he bragged about giving his NAACP hosts heck:

“When I mentioned I am going to get rid of ‘Obamacare,’ they weren’t happy. I didn’t get the same response” as here. That’s OK; I want people to know what I stand for and if I don’t stand for what they want, go vote for someone else, that’s just fine. But I hope people understand this: Your friends who like ‘Obamacare,’ you remind them of this, if they want more stuff from government, tell them to go vote for the other guy — more free stuff. But don’t forget, nothing is really free.”

That he’s trumpeting to donors how he’s just disabused black voters of thinking they were gonna get “more free stuff” is indeed a bold move — boldly ugly, that is. Somewhere, Newt “Give Those Kids a Mop” Gingrich is thinking he and old Mitt have more in common than he knew.

Michael Tomasky from the Dailybeast was NOT so kind:

Until yesterday, I thought of Mitt Romney as a spineless, disingenuous, and supercilious but more or less decently intentioned person who at least wasn’t the race-mongering pyromaniac that some other Republican candidates of my lifetime have been. Then he gave his speech to the NAACP, and now I think of him as a spineless, disingenuous, supercilious, race-mongering pyromaniac who is very poorly intentioned indeed, and woe to us if this man sets foot in the White House as anything but a tourist.
The really strange story out of this whole thing, is that Mitt traveled with his own group of African Americans to make absolutely sure he got exactly what he wanted out of his NAACP speech.

Many of Romney’s claims were debunked by Senior Vice President for Advocacy and Policy and the Director of the Washington Bureau of the NAACP, Hilary Shelton who said that the only African Americans Romney met with after his speech were those that he brought with him. Mr. Shelton explained that Mitt Romney flew in his own African-American supporters who were not affiliated with the NAACP, in order to have some people in the crowd cheering for him.
It is sad, but not surprising,  that we are only in July and Mitt and the republicans think its necessary to rile up the far right racist element of their party.  It is sad, but not surprising,  that instead of talking issues they are trying to create a divide between the people.  It is sad, but not surprising, that with party "leaders' like Reince Priebus and Karl Rove that they are going to play the race card early and often(they do have a history of it).  Finally it is sad, but not surprising, that Mitt Romney just can not tell the truth!

Finally, because it fits so well into this story, and outside of the most extreme fringe of the republican party, no one cares, but Dick Cheney went out on a huge limb and endorsed Mitt Rmoney!

Americans For (Middle Class) Poverty is at it Again.

Today is the day we are supposed to get the Obamacare ruling from the Supreme Court.  Most people realize it is a foregone conclusion that the radical right wing political wing on the Supreme Court will vote to overturn it.

It is such a foregone conclusion that Americans for (Middle Class) Poverty, led by the vermin Tim Phillips, is holding a "we are happy 26 million people will no longer have health care " rally in Walkersha today.

What:  Hands Off My Health Care Rally

Where:  Country Springs Resort, Ballroom – 2810 Golf Road, Pewaukee

When:  Thursday, June 28th, 6:30pm

Join Vicki McKenna, the 10th Amendment Center’s Michael Boldin, Sen. Leah Vukmir, Rep. Bill Kramer(no word if he will be packing) and your fellow patriots to learn about the Supreme Court’s decision on the President’s Healthcare Law.

We are holding a Hands Off My Health Care rally in Waukesha in response to the Supreme Court Decision on the President’s health care takeover.

This is one of the most important rulings in our nation’s history but our work doesn’t end here.  Our nation needs health care reform that utilizes open markets and isn’t dictated to us by unelected bureaucrats.

Micheal Boldin will be joining us from the Tenth Amendment Center to help us understand the decision and how we can take action to create the change we need.

Ok now sit down and follow along.   Americans for Prosperity(AFP), is going to hold a rally tonight to celebrate the (probable)end of Obamacare,  while also supporting Mitt Romney for president, yet Obamacare is basically modeled after the health care reform (Romneycare) that Governor Romney passed when he was Governor of Massachusetts.   One of the things that the right wing is so very upset about, is that there is an individual mandate that everyone have insurance that the republicans came up with in the 90's when Hillary Clinton was trying to reform health care.   The individual mandate has been supported across the right wing spectrum from Newt Gingrich to Tommy Thompson,

Now because this came from President Obama and the republicans have made it their only mission to make sure he fails, then no one on the right supports an individual mandate anymore.

Let's try and wrap up this in terms of AFP.   They adamantly oppose President Obama's Obamacare, while they support Mitt Romney and pretend that Romneycare does not exist.   They were for the individual before they were against it and now they are holding a rally on a foregone court decision touting the end of what they were for before they were against.

Confusing isnt it?   And they want to be taken seriously?

PS:  more on the Supreme Court ruling when it comes!

I am glad to admit that I was wrong!!   The Supreme Court has upheld Obamacare!

The Supreme Court upheld President Obama's health care law today in a splintered, complex opinion that gives Obama a major election-year victory.

Basically. the justices said that the individual mandate -- the requirement that most Americans buy health insurance or pay a fine -- is constitutional as a tax.

Chief Justice John Roberts -- a conservative appointed by President George W. Bush -- provided the key vote to preserve the landmark health care law, which figures to be a major issue in Obama's re-election bid against Republican opponent Mitt Romney.

Complete ruling here!

The Al-Koch(a) 15

Jan 20th, 2009. The Day President Barack Obama was sworn into office as the 44th president of the US.  This marked a new day in America as an African American was sworn into the highest office of the land for the very first time in our great  country.  While millions of Americans tuned in and celebrated, I think my highlight of the day was when Pete Seeger and Bruce Springsteen were singing "This Land is Your Land".

Hope was restored to our nation and we needed it at that time!

Unfortunately for President Obama and the rest of America, a group of bitter men had other ideas.  A group of approximately 15 men got together that very night and started plotting the best way to take down America.  Unfortunately, the guest list was full of familiar faces.  You would think that I was talking about Kim Jong Il, Osama Bin Laden, Ali Atwa, Abdul Rahman Yasin, Isnilon Totoni Hapilon, Grover Norquist, Tim Phillips, and other assorted anti-American Vermin. Sadly no.   The group that got together that night to plot the take down of our President, were all elected officials(and Frank Luntz).
Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wall St.)
Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA)
Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA),
Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX),
Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-TX),
Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-MI)
Rep. Dan Lungren (R-CA),
Sen. Jim DeMint (SC-R),
Sen. Jon Kyl (AZ-R),
Sen. Tom Coburn (OK-R),
Sen. John Ensign (NV-R) and
Sen. Bob Corker (TN-R)
A group of well known republican officials led by Wisconsin's own Paul Ryan, failed presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, and republican racist pollster and Scott Walkers good friend Frank Luntz wasted no time in meeting.

In his new book, "Do Not Ask What Good We Do: Inside the U.S. House of Representatives."by Robert Draper, Draper takes us inside that meeting.
The dinner lasted nearly four hours. They parted company almost giddily. The Republicans had agreed on a way forward:
Go after Geithner. (And indeed Kyl did, the next day: ‘Would you answer my question rather than dancing around it—please?’)
Show united and unyielding opposition to the president’s economic policies. (Eight days later, Minority Whip Cantor would hold the House Republicans to a unanimous No against Obama’s economic stimulus plan.)

Begin attacking vulnerable Democrats on the airwaves. (The first National Republican Congressional Committee attack ads would run in less than two months.)
Win the spear point of the House in 2010. Jab Obama relentlessly in 2011. Win the White House and the Senate in 2012.
Daily Kos, is asking Darrell Issa to open an investigation:
Not only did these Senior members of Congress plot to destroy the American Economy more than it already was destroyed? They actually carried out their mission:
- Every one of these Senior members of Congress have threatened Government Shutdown over things like:
not funding planned parenthood, not raising the Debt Ceiling which, in-and-of-itself, would cause US Economic turmoil. ... oh, and stay current, these same House GOP members of Congress are still, today, threatening a Government Shutdown.
- Senators: Jim DeMint, Jon Kyl, Tom Coburn, John Ensign, and Bob Corker have
- Filibustered more Bills than any Congress combined in US History.
- Voted NO on every single piece of Legislation brought to the Floor including: NO on Al Franken's Anti-Rape Amendment, NO on Lilly Ledbetter, NO on Fair Pay Act.
- Representatives: Paul Ryan, Eric Cantor, Kevin McCarthy, Rep. Pete Sessions, Jeb Hensarling, Pete Hoekstra and Dan Lungren
- Voted NO on every single piece of Legislation; including NO on increasing FEMA during natural disasters.
- Have been on tv constantly chanting the lie that they were guilty of ... the lie that "President Obama's policies undermine the US Economy."
The Daily Beast focused on different aspects beyond the anti-American 15.  The book points out that John Boehner was not invited to this meeting to take down America, but instead he was somewhere whining about the end of earmarks....
Despite the anti-earmark rhetoric in Congress, John Boehner still misses them.  During a conversation with Congressman Ralph Hall of Texas, Boehner regretted that earmarks disappeared, as it had made the task of keeping unruly members under control much easier. He sadly noted “It’s not like the old days, Ralph. Without earmarks to offer, it’s hard to herd the cats.”
John Boehner is finding it hard to keep people in line without the threat of pulling their funding...take taht tea party!

 But I digress...back to the Al-Kocha gang of 15!

Paul Ryan and his cohorts, who call themselves the Young Guns, spent that historic night in 2009, not working on ways to end the recession, or lower the deficit, or end the wars, or even lower the unemployment rate.   They used their time and "talent" to brainstorm ways to make the President of the United States fail and if all went according to plan, fail miserably!!!

It is no wonder that what passes as humor these days on the right is talk of shooting democrats!

**  Congressman Ryan did not respond to questions at the time of this writing. As a matter of fact Congressman Ryan has never responded to a single question posed by yours truly!

GOP's Presidential Field Has Kings of Comedy

It felt like I went to a comedy club on Saturday. But it wasn’t really a club; it was a dreary hotel banquet hall right off I-94. And the event wasn’t billed as comedy. It was billed as the Wisconsin Faith and Freedom Coalition Presidential Kick-Off. I infiltrated it, but as a middle-aged white male it was very easy to blend in. And let me tell you, it was a hoot.

Did you hear the one about the guy who was lecturing over 1,000 people about morality? “It is immoral to crush our children and grandchildren with debt”, that sort of thing. Turns out the morality-upholding guy was none other than the cancer-victim-wife betraying Newt Gingrich.

Did you hear about the guy telling us we must push back against the elites? “There’s an entire elitist collection of people who believe that they know better than us.” This was the same guy with the six-figure revolving credit plan at Tiffany’s. Yep, Newt again.

Okay, it’s almost too easy to laugh at Newt. Anymore he’s like the Buddy Hackett of the GOP. But what about Paul Ryan? He attended the event to endorse Mitt Romney. And he’s so intellectual and stuff!

To be honest, even in person, what I saw was laughable. In Washington, D.C., Paul Ryan is a guy who drinks $350 bottles of wine with economists. But in front of the group in Waukesha he talked of his youth detasselling corn and flipping burgers, or of his sticker shock the other day when he went to fill up his truck with gas.

It was funny how Ryan described this ominous America where a battle is being won by the takers at the expense of us makers (Ryan has only ever made a paycheck working as a staffer or politician in the U.S. Capitol), where there’s all these people who don’t even pay income tax. Then, immediately after, Ryan says it is Obama who is trying to divide us here in America with all this talk about class warfare.

Intellectually, Paul Ryan is a mess. But as comedy it was gold.

My favorite act was Freedom and Family Coalition state chairman Tony Nasvig. He opened the show just after they piped in music for the Christian crowd, including the Rolling Stones and their “Start Me Up” – which is a song with lyrics about dead men that don’t seem very Christian.

As the music faded, Tony preceded to warm up the crowd with a quip at the expense of the Walker recall effort. He was sending around petitions among the audience, Tony said, to recall the New York Giants since we don’t like that they won instead of the Packers. “So sign up and sign as many times as you want to,” Nasvig said, adding that you can make up names too.

That earned a lot of guffaws because these Republicans got the joke: Radio hosts and MacIver “news” had been telling them for weeks that the recall Walker petitions were overflowing with fallacious signatures. I asked my event neighbor to explain and he said that yes, there were lots and lots of bogus signatures on the recall petitions, including Adolph Hitler and Donald Duck.

The state Government Accountability Board staff would no doubt fail to get Tony’s joke. The staff got their information from the petitions themselves – not Charlie Sykes – and certified Friday that the petitions contained a negligible 3% of errors. Funny thing is, that’s less bogus content than what you find on the MacIver website.

Mitt Romney, of course, was not that funny because he’s not much of anything. He said the right stuff, but with a look and delivery so pretty and so unreal that it seemed robotic. In fact, Romney could have easily been the most android-like of the event if not for Callista Gingrich, whose circuits were powered up before it was positioned next to the lectern during Newt’s routine.

In comedy, you want to close with a zinger. The Family and Freedom Coalition did that. The closing benediction was not a prayer, it was a joke. Did God really put Scott Walker in the governor’s mansion? Is the attempt to recall Walker a kind of sin, counter to the will of God? And the Bible tells us we should not re-elect Obama, does it?

You don’t know whether to end something like that with an amen or with a rim shot.

Newt Gingrich Says To Buy American

So why doesn't he follow his own words?

With him being one of the front runners, the GOP Presidential race shoot be a real hoot.

Newt Gingrich: The Prototypical Republican

Political Wire's quote of the day:

"It doesn't matter what I do. People need to hear what I have to say. There's no one else who can say what I can say. It doesn't matter what I live."

-- Newt Gingrich, quoted in an Esquire profile, on the hypocrisy of his extra-marital affairs and his family values rhetoric.

And now you know why he endorsed Scott Walker, who is also one of the world's biggest hypocrites.

Would The Real Scott Walker Please Stand Up?

Today, on Twitter, Scott Walker and his echo chamber were making a big deal about a CNN clip of Newt Gingrich stating that he thought Walker would win Wisconsin.

Big deal.

First of all, the clip is from four months ago. Secondly, Gingrich has said a lot of things in his time, including marital betrothals of fidelity and undying love to three separate women. We all know how much he meant those.

But Walker raising the Gingrich clip now does set up an interesting question about Walker: Who is the real Scott Walker?

Walker's propensity for flip flopping on any given subject, such as the federal stimulus funding, is legendary. But now Walker is flip flopping on who he even is.

Last June, Walker was proudly announcing that he was going to be on stage with Gingrich as part of Walker's perpetual campaign for governor. That was a mixed blessing for Walker. First, Gingrich did not even endorse Walker at the time. Secondly, Gingrich soon became reviled among the neoconservatives as being "King of the RINOs." Gingrich's sin was calling for moderation and temperance among conservatives in order to keep the Republican Party intact.

A few months after Gingrich's appearance, Walker appeared to be completely shifting gears and was going for the extremist vote instead of the normal Republican one when he appeared at a TEA Party at the lakefront in September. To be fair, there was a sizable crowd at said TEA Party, but they did not come to see Walker. There was something better that drew them in.

Walker's attempts to appeal to the extremist fringe continued when he tries to schmooze Sarah Palin into endorsing him in his perpetual run. But as with Gingrich, Palin also declined his request and just used him for a practice run for her upcoming book tour.

Now we see Walker going back to the Gingrich video (which was actually recorded between his TEA Party and his failed attempt to woo Palin).

Between Gingrich and Palin, Walker is really starting to look pitifully insecure as he bounces from one side to the other, only to be used and then dumped by the side of the road.

But all of this should make any cognitive right winger kind of nervous. How could they possibly endorse Walker when they have no way of knowing if they were going to get extremist TEA Party Scott or Walker the RINO?

Unfortunately for them, Walker probably doesn't know who he wants to be either.

Campaigns Consist of Contrasts and Supporters

"Campaigns Consist of Contrasts and Base Supporters" is the title of a post done some time ago by the Walkerophiles at ScottForGov.com. Their post is a lame attempt to demonstrate that Scott Walker has picked up more endorsements, for now, that Tom Barrett. Of course, at the time they wrote that post, Walker had been campaigning for seven years compared to Barrett's two weeks.

(As a side note, I don't think it was very nice of them to point out and mock the fact that Walker is mathematically-challenged.)
But if they want to compare and contrast, let's look at the big names that are being courted by Walker and one of his many Republican rivals, Mark Neumann.

Walker has been on stage with Newt Gingrich this past summer. However, Gingrich is quickly falling out of grace with many conservatives and is being labeled as a RINO (Republican in name only). I don't know if this will really help Walker with his base.

Walker has also been trying to woo Sarah Palin, the Alaskan governor drop-out, to get her to support his campaign. Again, this is appearing to be another poor choice by Walker, as that Palin has gone over the deep end and has joined the birther movement. You can just hear the Independents hurrying away from Walker on that one.

Meanwhile, Mark Neumann was on stage with Karl Rove today at UW-Milwaukee. I, like many people, think Rove is, for lack of a better word, evil. But there is no denying that Rove also has some chops going for him. Not only was he able to master mind the election of Bush/Cheney, he even got them re-elected even after it was obvious that they were leading the country into ruin with poor fiscal policies and starting the unjust war in Iraq.

As I said, I don't think much of Rove's politics, but the fact that he was on stage with Neumann speaks volumes when compared to Walker's choices of people he seeks support from.

Money For Nothing, Consultants and Plane Rides For Free

Scott Walker, like every other politician, was required to file a campaign financial report earlier this week. Much like his budgets and his policies, this campaign financial report seemed to be more than a bit off in some regards.

Cory Liebmann beat me to the punch on one of the oddities, namely that RJ Johnson, the big time consultant to Walker's campaign, doesn't appear to be getting paid, nor is their an in kind contribution listed for him.

Along the same line as the Johnson missing entries are the entries for Keith Gilkes, who is listed as the Champion Group, LLC, but is really Walker's campaign manager. According to Walker's report, Gilkes only was paid $11,000 for his work. I find it hard to believe that Walker would get someone with that much experience to work that cheaply.

Another big thing is an entry dated June 27, 2009, for a payment of $3,841.49 to Terry Kohler for "Candidate Expenses - Travel." My first thought was that it may have been for the day that he made his multiple stop trip around the state making his official kick-off to his campaign. But that didn't make much sense. First of all, Walker's official kick-off was a couple of months earlier. On top of that, a charter jet, at the very least, still costs over $1,000 per hour. Since Walker was on the go for at least 10 or 12 hours, the cost should have been at least three times what the payment was for.

The other idea that occurred to me was the timing of the payment. June 27th was just two days before Newt Gingrich's appearance at a Walker fund raiser in Milwaukee. Could the payment be for flying Gingrich into town? But if that was they case, why was the payment made out to Kohler?

A quick Google search led me to an article from 1995, which starts out with this:

Just before Newt Gingrich became speaker of the House, he made a pilgrimage to Sheboygan, Wis. Why? Because Terry Kohler asked him.

"Terry and Mary Kohler are such old friends and have been so vital to what we've been doing that when they called, I couldn't turn them down," Gingrich remarked after delivering a December dinner speech to the Sheboygan Economic Club. "They've done so much over the years to make it possible for us to win this majority."

If Gingrich is fighting a Republican revolution, Terry Kohler -- son and grandson of Wisconsin governors and heir to one of the state's biggest financial empires -- is supplying the ammunition. A former Air Force pilot who now flies his own planes, a former politician who now finances others, the 60-year-old Kohler is the biggest individual contributor to Gingrich and his conservative causes.

Well, well. Kohler and Gingrich are old time buddies, and Kohler definitely holds some sway with Gingrich. (Money always seems to have that affect on Republicans.) It seems to me that it would be a rational guess that Kohler asked Gingrich to come up here to help Walker raise some cash, and that Walker's campaign reimbursed Kohler for the cost of flying Gingrich here and back to wherever he came from.

But then that leaves a couple, three unanswered question. Who paid for Walker's jetting around the state in a day on the day Walker officially launched his campaign? And why isn't it listed on his campaign's financial report?

And if the $3,800 was for the campaign kick-off trip around the state, why was it so cheap, and why isn't there an in kind contribution listed?

OK, one other question: When will the local daily paper and radio station pick up on any of this? (That answer will come later.)

What A Ringing Endorsement!

After weeks of Team Walker hyping the thrice-married adulterer and corrupt Newt Gingrich was coming to Milwaukee to speak at a fund raiser for Walker, we find out that Gingrich isn't even supporting the guy. From JSOnline:

In response to a reporter's question, Gingrich said he wasn't endorsing Walker, and Gingrich's presence did not mean he preferred the county executive over former Republican Rep. Mark Neumann, who also has said he will likely seek the party endorsement for governor in 2010.

Doyle is expected to seek a third term.

"When I was asked to come, Scott Walker was the only candidate in the race," Gingrich said. "My goal, frankly, is to fill up the slate" with solid candidates all over the U.S., he said.

Apparently, even Gingrich understands that Walker isn't a solid candidate.

That's almost as funny as Walker actually getting endorsed by Jessica McBride.

Newt's Coming To Town

Oh, boy, Newt Gingrich is coming to town to stump for Walker. Yippee.

I've made by feelings known already over here:
We all know that Charlie Sykes has been carrying water for Scott Walker for a long, long time.

Now, Newt Gingrich is coming to town next week to show support for Walker.

How much longer before Team Walker can announce endorsements from Governor Mark Sanford, Senator John Ensign, Senator David Vitter, Senator Larry Craig, and of course, Jessica McBride?
Oh, and BTW, the question has been answered. I hope she does an in depth interview with Walker. That would eliminate two problems at one time.
