Robin Vos (R-adulterer) has decided that his version of small government is to tell the University of Wisconsin system that they are allowed to have any speaker they want, as long as he agrees with their message.

"Perhaps what could be most worrisome about going to college these days is the plague of political correctness that creates an environment that ends up stifling free speech," Vos wrote. "I challenge the UW System this school year to find more ways, beyond a two-page policy statement, to ensure that all perspectives, including conservative ones, are present in the classroom."

Vos spokesman Kit Beyer told the Wisconsin State Journal that Vos directly expressed his concerns to UW System President Ray Cross in a meeting Tuesday.

Mr Vos did an open records request(which he expects fulfilled, unlike the same requests that have been asked of GOP legislators) and found out that the top two highest paid speakers were:

The largest amount paid for a single speaker was at UW-Platteville, Vos said. The speaker was Kathy Ober, a former professor at University of Massachusetts-Amherst and co-founder of the Social Justice Training Institute -- who reportedly spoke three times for a total of $45,000.Michael Sam, the first openly gay player in the NFL, spoke at UW-La Crosse in December and also was one of the highest paid speakers, according to Vos.

Mr. Vos admits that he has no interest in Social Justice and listening to what someone from the LGBTQ community has to say.  Who knew that those two issues are partisan?  

Of course Mr. Vos has a history of being inherently lazy and did not offer up any suggestions, so that is where we are going to come in,  

We at CogDis are nothing if not here to help our friends on the right.  

Let's give some suggestions on who the UW System should bring in to speak to our college kids!

Let me start with a few:

1.   Number one on my list is Jonah Goldberg, of the National Review.  Jonah Goldberg is such a prolific writer, that he gave himself two Pulitzer nominations.   That takes skill!   What aspiring writer would not want to find out how to nominate yourself for the most prestigious awards there are?

2.  Everyones favorite right wing political pundit, Captain 9/12 Glenn Beck.   I would recommend that Mr. Beck be paid to speak to the school of social work so they can better learn how to deal with grief!

3.  The Scientists in the UW System will surely want to hear from Michelle Bachmann, since I am sure none of their professors taught them this!

3. Best Selling "conservative" author and pundit Ann Coulter could be another that the UW System brings in.  The tall blonde has been preaching about liberal indoctrination for years.

4.  I would also recommend that Assembly Rep. Bob Gannon (R-White Hood) be allowed to speak also  He can speak to history classes about the Good ole days of the 1920's!

5. I also highly recommend that they have our Governor speak to the Engineering schools about how to build massive walls!

Finally #6, I would recommend they bring in Republican nominee for President, The Donald, who speak on numerous issues, from how to look presidential, to the plight of the disabled!

There are 6 different suggestions from us to Mr. Vos and University President Ray Cross to consider bringing in to speak this year on the UW System campuses.  

Help us out and give us some more suggestions, and I will make sure that Mr. Vos and Mr. Cross get this information!

Racism Will Not Be Allowed * (Exceptions May Apply)

The University of Wisconsin- Madison has suspended the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity(SAE) for continually making racist slurs.

University of Wisconsin-Madison has suspended the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity through Nov. 1 after an investigation found chapter members repeatedly used racist, homophobic and anti-Semitic slurs, and then ostracized a black member who told them to stop, according to documents released by the university.

In other words, just another day in the office of Representative Bob Gannon (R-white hood movement).  



With this suspension, the College Republicans at UW-Madison, are looking for a new place to have their headquarters.  

Paul Ryan Denounces WISGOP Racism

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan has had enough of the Wisconsin Republicans and called them out in a press conference yesterday.

"If a person wants to be the nominee of the Republican Party, there can be no evasion and no games. They must reject any group or cause that is built on bigotry. This party does not prey on people's prejudices," House Speaker Paul Ryan told reporters on Capitol Hill.

Obviously Mr. Ryan is sick of such shenanigans as Rep. Bob Gannon's blatant racism and hatred of minority youth, and knows that there is no place for that in todays society.

Then in an innocuous vote to name a Post Office after the late great Maya Angelou, Wisconsin's own Glenn Grothman was one of 9 openly racist Republicans to vote against it!

According to the Post, Grothman went on the House floor and said, "I think people should investigate Maya Angelou a little bit, and I’ll suggest perhaps if you want to investigate a little bit further that perhaps you Google ‘Maya Angelou’ and look at other articles in places like the American Thinker or the American Spectator.”
After Angelou's death in 2014, those publications noted her "embrace of radical leftist politics in the 1960s — including sympathies for Fidel Castro and interactions with Malcolm X," the Post said.
At President Bill Clinton's 1993 inauguration, Angelou recited a poem, "On the Pulse of Morning."The measure to name the post office to honor Angelou passed on a vote of 371-9-1, with one member voting present.

While Mr. Grothman says he does not like who she talked to in the 60's, I think it is fair to say there is something else about Ms. Angelou that he does not like and was the motive behind his vote(can you guess what it is?).




By the way Googling Maya Angelou and I found this:

The biggest surprise though, is that Paul Ryan would speak about something that so directly affects his good friend Scott Walker.   From Mr. Walker's race baiting dog whistles in his campaign speeches to the incredible racism that was exhibited in the #walkerdocs, the blatant racism he exhibits on a daily basis was too much for Mr. Ryan to take anymore.  

Kudos to Mr. Paul Ryan for denouncing the racism in Wisconsin, especially of his old friend Scott Walker.

 Hopefully the corrupt group of politicians we are dealing with here in Wisconsin will be caged birds in the near future and we can hear them sing from the stand.


 

West Bend Strikes Again

With the over abundance of testing in our public schools, there has been a movemento to limit testing that has even reached the White House.

While it is consuming the country, the one place it apparently has not reached is West Bend, WI.  The backwards land, represented so well by racist Republican Bob Gannon, is back at it again,

 A social studies teacher, Tanya Lohr, had some concerns about their new testing program called Galileo.  Ms. Lohr feels that there are some flaws in the system and wanted to address them with the administration.   In order to be heard, she did what our democracy affords her to do, she drew up a petition and had her fellow teachers sign it.

One Voice speaks louder than 100 individual voices.



However, as we explained earlier, this is West Bend, and the Administration and School Board of the district handled it like you would think they would.   They sat down with Ms, Lohr and discussed where she felt the problems were  and worked on ways to address them to make sure we are getting the most and best information about our kids when we are evaluating their progress.

They suspended Ms. Lohr with pay.

That sent a nice do not talk to us about your area of expertise, we do not want to hear it message to their staff!

That led to the packed house at the School Board meeting, where there was a huge show of support for Ms. Lohr.

In front of a packed West Bend School District School Board meeting Monday night, there was an outpouring of support for Lohr.

• "This teacher puts her students` needs all ahead of her own," one parent said.

• Some members of the community came to Lohr's defense, believing Lohr was doing what is best for the students.

"What is happening to our democracy when teachers are not allowed to circulate a petition?" Joy Schroeder said.
Kimberly Roemer launched her own petition, gathering 1,100 signatures to get Lohr back in the classroom. At Monday's school board meeting, she expressed her disgust toward district decision-makers.
"I think at this point, there`s very little concern about our teachers and our children," Roemer said.

After the outpouring, and another petition calling for Ms. Lohr to be reinstated, Republican activist and School Board President Randy Marquardt, reading a condescending and snarky statement,  announced that Ms. Lohr will be returning to her classroom.

“As you’re aware of the ongoing investigation into possible policy violations of a member of the high school. While no decision has been made regarding this matter it is clear from the information that has been supplied to this board there is significant and outright false information being published about this matter. By law the district unfortunately cannot address and correct the specific misleading or false information because as the employer the district does not have the same rights  as public employees to go public and share with others their version of the facts of the personnel matter.
This inability to publicly address the situation and correct the inaccurate information that’s being communicated by these individuals puts the district at a significant disadvantage.
This district can not utilize social media in the same manner and to the same extent as the supporters of the employee who apparently don’t care what the facts really are as long as they can blame the administration for the situation and absolve the employee of any responsibility for the choices she made regarding her own behavior.
The district holds all staff members to standards of behavior that this community has the right to expect of any employee of the district regardless of the subject matter of an interaction between a staff member and an administrator.
When the administration receives information that those standards may not have been upheld the board expects the administration will conduct a thorough investigation of the matter that is exactly what is happening here.
The board fully supports the administrative actions in investigating this situation.
Finally we also agree with the administration recommendation to place Miss Lohr back in her classroom immediately.”

I guess the School Board and Adminstration, want the children of West Bend, to grow up to be as ignorant as Bob Gannon.

The Scott Walker Dictation Tour

Scott Walker has come out of hiding, kind of, in the New Year as he has decided to grant some interviews before his State of the State address.  The problem is he only granted interviews to TV and did not grant a single interview to print media.  

Now that we start to see these TV interviews, we see why he came back to WI and only comes out with the friendlies!

Here is a perfect example of Jessica Arp, normally a good reporter, truning into Scott Walker's stenographer.

Lets break it down a little:

Walker said he's focused in 2016 on workforce development and job training initiatives, including dual enrollment programs in high schools and colleges.
"It's really about worker preparedness, getting people ready for careers that are overwhelmingly open right now and pay well," Walker said. "Part of it isn't just government programs, but trying to change the perspective and the public's view of some of these positions."

Questions regarding the fact he is not even halfway to his promsied job goal of 250,000 jobs created in his first term - 0

Questions about getting workers ready while cutting hundreds of millions of dollars to our states public education system?  - 0

Next topic:

 As for the future, the governor said he's taking a "long-term view" of reforms in the state, looking out 20 years rather than two or four. And he told News 3 he's considering running for a third term in 2018 to make sure some of those things get accomplished."That's absolutely something we'll look at," Walker said. "It won't be a decision we'll make for a year or so, but it's certainly something as we look at the long term and listen to what people are saying, and say, 'How much more do I want to do and do the people of this state want done?' If I feel I can continue to add value to the people of this state to be around to see those plans through, absolutely."

Questions about his promise to be Wisconsins Governor for four years when he was campaigning in 2014, followed by immediately running out on the campaign trail for President almost the day after he won?  - 0

Questions about blowing $7 Million dollars + in 71 days on the campaign trail - 0

Questions about paying the taxpayers back the money he owes us, while he ignored his job and campaigned for President?  - 0

Questions about would he want to be vice president or in the cabinet if a Republican wins the Presidency?  - 0

There is so much more -

Questions about the State's Deficit raising  by an extra 28%? - 0

Questions about The continual gutting of our open records laws?  - 0

Questions about ending the GAB and who will be watching the politicians now?  - 0

Questions about Wisconsin setting a record for layoffs this year - 0

Questions why a Walker win, passing right- to- work has not helped our economy take off? - 0

Questions about Republican Bob Gannon's blatantly racist press releases?  - 0

Questions about the racism within #walkerdocs? - 0

Questions about the secret router he had in his office as County Executive? - 0

Questions about Mike Huebsch telling people not to use Government channels to communicate? - 0

Questions about the bill that will allow people to desecrate ancient Indian burial grounds? - 0

Questions about the rise in poverty under Walker's Administration? - 0

If I did not know any better, I would watch thate "interview" and think that Scott Walker was doing "a heck of a job" and the only thing he had to worry about was what to do with that Ugly sweater!  

It is unfortunate that our media has let down the people of WI so badly.  The main part of an interview is for the Reporter to ASK QUESTIONS, and not just print what the subject tells you to print.

At this point all these "reporters" are doing is taking dictation!


Dictation is the transcription of spoken text: one person who is "dictating" speaks and another who is "taking dictation" writes down the words as they are spoken. Among speakers of several languages...

Bob Gannon - the Grand Dragon of WI Politics

Bob Gannon (R- white hood) recently put out a press release explaining that thanks to conceal carry law in WI, the law abiding white people can now shoot the minority kids at will, to keep our state safe.    

After using code words  and dog whistles like "scum-bags", "punks" and "thugs", except for Representative Taylor, CogDIs and a few brief mentions in the papers, he went back to obscurity.

Bobby Gannon, knew he needed to ramp up the racism, to make sure that he gets noticed by the hard core right wing base in Wisconsin(applying to be Trump's VP perhaps?) and took to a racist press release that one would think came right from #walkerdocs, and would make David Duke proud:

“As democrats statewide compose their yearend propaganda blaming republicans for every malady known by man, they need to be honest about job creation. Milwaukee is ranked the sixth highest city nationally in per capita murders by Forbes, which makes it obvious that our largest urban center, is the anchor holding back the ship of state as far as jobs is concerned. Milwaukee finished the year with over one hundred and fifty murders and over seven hundred others injured in shootings.
 Milwaukee finished the year with an unemployment rate of approximately twenty percent for their black population. This is almost four times as high as the white unemployment rate for the city and the state. This means that Milwaukee leads in murders and mayhem per capita, with a large number of these crimes occurring in mainly black neighborhoods, the same neighborhoods with the worst unemployment rates in the state.
Could one make a connection between employment opportunities and the level of crime on those same streets? What employer will build or expand when they fear muggings, carjackings, attempted murder, or other serious criminal threats to their employees? One cannot ignore the correlation between jobs and crime, employment opportunities will only expand in these neighborhoods when the violence is stopped.
Milwaukee has a democrat mayor, whose focus is a tiny trolley that will chug along in the more affluent and safer areas of the city. Milwaukee County has a democrat district attorney focused on a personal vendetta against our governor, a vendetta that’s been laughed out of multiple courts for having no legal standing, while ignoring the crime on the streets.
 The state’s economic numbers, including job development and unemployment rates, would certainly be significantly improved if only our largest city would clean up the murder and mayhem on their streets.” #

In case you had a hard time deciphering that 2nd grade version of a press release, Bob the Dragon, is telling us that the reason we do not have jobs in this state, is because of the black males and Democrats in Milwaukee.

A quick look at Gannon's committee assignments and we see:

On the committee of small business development and tells us he fails at developing small businesses in WI because there is crime in the poverty tricken inner city of Milwaukee.

However, as Capper says, There is more, there is always more!   Let's take a look at the incredible jobs bills that Gannon has authored, that he has used to fight the problem of Milwaukee having minorities in the city:

You would think after passing such bills as not requiring vaccines and trying to dig up hundreds of years old Indian burial sites, would have been enough for our economy to be rocking.  It is unfortunate that we have to have minorities in WI to hinder the job growth work of these fine bills.

The Disappearing Democrats!

Nancy Northshore from Blogging Blue had an interesting post the other day lamenting the woes of the Wisconsin Democratic Party:

As you all know, in the last 6 months, we’ve changed leadership in both the Democratic Party of WI and the Democratic Party of Milwaukee. In June, Martha Laning was elected the new DPW Chair. A quick check of the DPW website shows an easily navigated fund raising page with very little about specific races, candidates (except Feingold) or substantive issues….there’s one page called “Stop Unlimited Corporate Campaign Contributions in Wisconsin” that looks like a petition/fund-raising tool and links to a few articles, press releases and the bills themselves, but it’s from OCTOBER. Most of the Twitter (the most immediate form of communication for most grown ups) feed is two weeks old. Seriously? It was hard to find any detailed information on anything. It was slick and I don’t mean that in a good way. A quick Google check of Martha Laning yields nothing newsworthy since November (when she did a Q&A on her goals for the Party), except for the letter from the Trump campaign asking for help in getting on the ballot. The bulk of the search cites articles about her election….in June! This is exactly the reason I let my membership lapse…the State party is clearly out of touch with the situation. I had hoped that new leadership would turn it around, but I guess they have decided to stick with the “trite and true” style that allowed the complete takeover of our State by the WIGOP.

A quick check of the Wisdems website, and we see that depsite the Constructive Criticism from Nancy Northshore and others, the website is exactly as described.  A big picture of Russ(which has been there for months) and nothing else new.   It's nice to know that in 2016 the only Democrat running for office appears to be Senator Feingold.  

The WisDems twitter feed seems to consist of a bunch of join us tweets and a couple retweets.

The Wisdems facebook page is much more up to date with more current stories.  

There are however some things noticeably missing from all of these sites.

Recently Senator Dave Hansen retweeted a tweet that he should not have, the Republicans circled their wagon and went after him with guns blazing.   It was such an onslaught that Senator Hansen ended up apologizing and deleting his twitter account.   On the same day, Representative Jagler, one of the leaders of faux outrage, tweeted out much worse than anything Senator Hansen retweeted.

Not a word from anyone in the Dem party standing up for Senator Hansen or pointing out the blatant hypocrisy of our friends on the right!

Another example is West Bend Rep. Gannon, recently called for armed vigilante uprising(well by some of us):

Today,Representative Bob Gannon released a statement saying, “Wisconsin does not have a death penalty law, but with significant practice and careful aim, law abiding citizens can help clean our society of these scum bags.

Gannon said a “gang banger in the mall with a gun is going to think twice if there could be a law abiding (concealed carry weapon) holder standing behind them fully prepared to shoot center mass, as this is how you’re trained to eliminate the threat these creeps pose to you, your family, and all law-abiding citizens unwillingly dragged into their public crime spree.”

When Gannon uses full on dogwhistles of such words as Scum bags, Gang bangers, creeps, etc...who exactly does anyone think he is referring to?  It is such a blatantly racist and disgusting line that I was sure the top Dems in the state would combine to make sure that he walked this statement back or at least made the powers in the R party distance themselves from Mr. Gannon.

Nope straight up crickets from the Democratic party leadership(with the exception of Chris Taylor).

That can be the 2016 rallying cry.  In the new era of Trump, the Republicans are letting us in on their racist thoughts and beliefs, but don't worry we wont call them on it.

The Democratic Party would love to have all of the minorities in the state show up and vote D, but there will be no quid pro quo from us.  You will have to look for leadership elsewhere.

Those are just two prime recent examples where the state Democratic Party has dropped the ball, but there are 50 other examples I could also state.

It is almost like Mike Tate left his playbook in the office and everyone is following it step by losing step.  We are in the home stretch for the incredibly important 2016 elections and we can not afford for the Dem Party and their leadership to disappear.  

Our children are counting on it!

Rep. Gannon calls for a vigilante uprising

MADISON – Today, Representative Bob Gannon released a statement saying, “Wisconsin does not have a death penalty law, but with significant practice and careful aim, law abiding citizens can help clean our society of these scum bags.” Rep. Chris Taylor (D-Madison) released the following statement:

“I am appalled by the dangerous rhetoric Representative Gannon chose to use in his press release. The incident at East Towne Mall was scary, but the answer is not to add more people with guns to the mix, and certainly not to call for private citizens to ‘shoot center mass.’ Representative Gannon is living in a James Bond dream world. If more guns made us safer, we would be the safest country in the world. We should be making guns like the one used at East Towne Mall more difficult to obtain for those who abuse the law.   

“Representative Gannon can keep repeating the same Fox talking points, but they are not grounded in fact. A recent Stanford study shows that right to carry laws are associated with significant increases in violent crime. The United States has a higher firearm homicide rate than any other developed country because of its broken gun safety laws.

“Representative Gannon should recognize that it is possible to keep our communities safe while respecting the rights of law-abiding gun owners. The public overwhelmingly supports common-sense gun safety laws, like universal background checks and a ban on military-style assault weapons. As United States Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia so aptly noted in his majority opinion in District of Columbia v. Heller, ‘[i]t is not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose.’

“Representative Gannon also makes a dangerous and misguided call for guns to be available on our college campuses. Our campus administrators, law enforcement, faculty, and students don’t want weapons on campus, as campuses are generally safe places for students to learn. I for one am glad that Representative Gannon doesn’t shop at retailers where he can’t bring his gun – I think we’re all a little bit safer because of it.”

Bob Gannon Knows (Nothing)

In the wake of yet another horrible mass shooting tragedy, where the shooter claimed nine victims and injured many others, it brought many people on both sides of the gun control debate out of the woodwork to offer their opinions.  

One that stands out is Wisconsin State Rep. Bob Gannon (R-no one has ever heard of before), who posted this on his "official" facebook page.

Real Gun Control
In the wake of the recent shootings at a junior college in Oregon, President Obama quickly stood at the podium and proclaimed that this is the fault of the N.R.A., and that we need stricter gun control legislation.
What Obama ignored was the testimony of the students and educators at the school that they were defenseless in this incident as the school was a “gun free” zone. This means that only criminals will possess personal protection at these locations, and the law abiding citizen is an easy target.Last week I joined other legislators at Yellowstone Lake State Park and took part in shooting sports at their beautiful firing range. This fantastic facility was built in conjunction with the Wisconsin D.N.R., a local shooting club, and that group the president blames for every gun toting criminal operating in our country, the N.R.A.
Rep. Gannon states that, “Yes, the group that the president blames every time something bad happens with a firearm is actually the group advocating and investing their dollars to train others in the safe usage of firearms.
Real gun control comes from a solid stance, a confident grip, and hours of practice preparing yourself in the event you’re put into a situation where a person with evil intents needs to be stopped. With practice, and less gun free zones, America will be a safer place”.

Raise your hand if this next sentence surprises you.  Bob Gannon has his facts completely wrong and has no idea what he is talking about.

But not only was UCC not a gun free zone by law, there were also people who brought guns onto campus at the time of the massacre.
John Parker Jr., a veteran and student at UCC, spoke with MSNBC and revealed that he was in a campus building with a concealed handgun when the shooting started. He suggested other students with him at the time were also carrying concealed handguns.

Oops....I am sure that Mr. Gannon, realizing that he was completely wrong in trying to make his right wing political, I love guns point, when the error of his statement was pointed out to him, he apologized and corrected it.  

Wisconsin Rep. Bob Gannon (R-Slinger) said that he had based his statements on media accounts and the student handbook of Umpqua Community College, which he said discouraged students from carrying firearms.
"The first media reports made it that it was a gun-free zone," Gannon said. "So drop it, that's not the story."

Don't bother Bob Gannon, Bob Gannon knows what he knows and NO amount of those silly facts will ever get in the way of what he knows.

Besides as he says, while making light of the deaths of these college students:

Real gun control comes from a solid stance, a confident grip, and hours of practice preparing yourself in the event you’re put into a situation where a person with evil intents needs to be stopped. With practice, and less gun free zones, America will be a safer place”. 

Luckily, for those of us, who do not live in the West Bend area, we can actually use Google to fact check his statements.  

As a matter of fact, just recently in Houston, some poor guy without a gun, was being car jacked at a gas station.  Luckily for him, a nearby "Good Samaritan" with a gun, decided to get involved and promptly shot the victim in the head.  

Houston police responded to a shooting call around 11:15 p.m. Saturday at a Valero gas station on Jensen Drive at Reid Street in north Houston. Officials say two men jumped another man in the gas station parking lot and took the victim's Chevrolet pickup truck. Police say a witness then pulled out a gun and began shooting at the suspects, accidentally hitting the carjacking victim in the head.

We all know how proud of this "Good Samaritan" we are, so I hope he stayed around to get his just rewards for being such a strong defender of the 2nd Amendment....

 The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he remains in stable condition. Police say the witness who shot at the suspects picked up shell casings and left the scene.

No thanks allowed, and not only does he hate crime he apparently also hates pollution.  What an heroic young man.

As readers of our blog know, but wait there is more.

As we see in a dateline investigation, after hours of training, the people being trained to only shoot the "bad guy" when being put in controlled, live experiments, were so nervous they could not unholster their gun and even shot the wrong people(again).

I guess maybe Bon Gannon needs to add a couple more steps to his regiment, on how he is going to protect the people of the great state of Wisconsin with his gun.

As always, sometimes life(and elected reps like Bon Gannon) are so ridiculous all you can do is make fun of them.   No one does that better than a comedian.  

I do not think that Bob Gannon was purposefully lying, when he made this statement(although keeping it up on his facebook page and not apologizing are inexcusable), but he definitely takes the cake for ignorance.   Mr. Gannon brags about being a twin to Glenn Grothman.

Had an hour long meeting with Glenn Grothman today, following his public comments at Commerce State Bank. Glenn and I are two peas in pod when it comes to policy & politics. 

We NEED to do better than to keep electing anti intellectuals like Mr. Gannon.
