The Shrine of Paul Ryan

By Jeff Simpson

With the latest announcement that Trey "Benghazi" Gowdy will not seek re-election, there are too many GOP elected officials to count who are quitting.

Trey is as bad a Congressman as his dad Curt was a great sportscaster.    America is automatically better today because of this news.

There has even been speculation, that Janesville's own Paul Ryan is considering "retirement".

While Gowdy's legacy will be an unnatural obsession with Hillary Clinton, Paul Ryan is leaving a different legacy one in his own home town that had ripple effects throughout the Nation.

Ryan recounts friends losing their jobs at GM’s assembly plant and compares Detroit and Janesville in the opening chapter titled: “A Tale of Two Cities.” His father, Paul M. Ryan lost part of a finger, which was surgically reattached, when he worked at the factory in college to pay for tuition and books.“The struggle isn’t immediately apparent the way it is in a place like Detroit,” Ryan wrote. “The fall of Detroit, and the unease in Janesville, should be warning flags that force us all to confront our failure to take the future seriously.”

While you could not find any better pictures to document the results of Paul Ryan's career, these pictures are of the Janesville GM Plant that closed.

"We will not spend four years blaming others, we will take responsibility." Paul Ryan
Also, do not forget what Republicans in WI, think about the closing of the Janesville GM plant.  Scott Walker trolled all of Janesville, when he put this billboard up inside the shuttered plants grounds:

Wisconsin Walker/Ryan Weekend Catch-Up

By Jeff Simpson

The states ringmaster was given an honorary top clown distinction when he visited Circus World recently.  Scott Walker even had the opportunity to ride an elephant(insert own joke here).

Thank Goodness, we only elect the best of the best, because after his big ride, Scott Walker was able to give us this bit of Yoda like wisdom:

Walker said the suspension on the pachyderm differed slightly from his Harley.
“It’s a little back and forth,” he said. “If my bike was back and forth, that would only be if I were taking a corner.”
If you take anything away from this summer of learning, it is that the suspension on a motorcycle and an elephant are different.    Seriously that came out of his mouth, next thing you know he will be advocating walling off Canada!

But Wait There is more!

Our hero Governor, did not take Abraham Lincoln's advice about remaining quiet, and kept right on talking!

Even though a fire-juggling unicyclist rode a bit wobbly near the governor and his wife, Walker said the show was “spectacular.”
“My wife literally grabbed my leg,” he said about the performer riding a bit too close for comfort. “I was glad I was ready for it, but she wasn’t.”
He does not call himself #unintimidated for no reason.  He protected his wife from a unicyclist who wobbled when he was in their general vicinity!   That takes some serious steel nerves.

Now let's go for the trifecta.

“I don’t think there was a part that wasn’t entertaining,” he added.

Hey Scott, you must not have watched your interviezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Now we can switch to Wisconsin's other favorite son.  Janesville's own Paul Ryan(R-Photo Op), who as Speaker of the House, is currently third in line for the Presidency and the most visible, kept human being on the planet.

A quick memory refresher, and we go back to a time, where Paul Ryan was pretending to hold out and not endorsing a guy for President of teh Republican party, who he would never leave alone with his wife.   Then Miraculously, Paul changed his mind, leaving many "never Trumpers" perplexed.   However a quick look at campaign finance reports, we see that Paul had $20 million reasons to endorse The Donald (everyone has a price).

On August 29th, approximately three months after Paul Ryan endorsed Donald Trump, two of Trump’s largest campaign donors, Miriam and Sheldon Adelson donated a staggering $20 million to Paul Ryan’s super PAC, Congressional Leadership Fund. To put things into perspective, these donations represent approximately 40% of all the donations received by the Congressional Leadership Fund for the entire year of 2016.

However, Paul was able to receive a special unintended consequence that made his year!   Paul Ryan can finally cut Medicaid, like he has always dreamed of doing!

Later in the interview, Ryan discussed the GOP’s efforts to reduce government spending on health care, specifically the party’s plans to alter Medicaid (the main health insurance program for the poor) by giving the states more control and “capping” the program’s rate of growth. “We’ve been dreaming of this since I’ve been around—since you and I were drinking at a keg,” he told Lowry. The remark drew loud laughter from the crowd.

Some kids around the keg, talk about women, sports, their careers, movies, etc...but Paul Ryan has been dreaming about cutting public services and hand ups, since he was a kid using Social Security to get through college.

What is the reason he can not be beat again?

Happy Birthday America, It's Been A Good Run!

By Jeff Simpson

Happy Independence Day, we started out with this great American fighting crazy dictators

In a matter of 241 years we went full circle to forcing the Tories out to the Tories retaking over our country and electing this guy!

Here is #45 with his then 15 yr old daughter!

I think the people who voted for this clown, and now support him blindly(I am looking at you Paul Ryan), owe the rest of us an apology!    I am also tempted to say we should make then wear Big Red T around their neck so that we all know who was responsible for this dark time in our history!

PS:  Capper had a better idea!

The Real Paul Ryan

By Jeff Simpson

A few weeks ago, a group of childhood cancer survivors took their biannual trip to DC to lobby their congresspeople, and other politicians about their story and how we need more money for cancer research and cures.

One of the politicians that they specifically wanted to meet and tell their stories to was Paul Ryan, the Speaker of the House from Janesville, WI.   One of the campers even had a personal connection to the Speaker and so worked a meeting time with Mr. Ryan when they were in DC.

However, things changed drastically when the 50 children(from One Step Camp), who have endured pain and suffering most people can only imagine(trust me, there is nothing like being told by your doctor that you have cancer), were told that the Speaker would not be hearing their stories on this trip.

The group of teenage cancer survivors were told when they arrived in DC that only a handful of the campers would be allowed time with Paul Ryan and that they would have about 5 minutes.

Enough time to get pictures taken and see the view of Washington DC from his plush taxpayer supplied office.

Yes Paul Ryan really did say they shared their "powerful stories" with him. As our long time readers of CogDis know :  but wait there is more!

Paul Ryan put out THIS press release(emphasis mine):
As he always does, Speaker Ryan took time this week to meet with fellow Wisconsinites. He was inspired by the message he heard from students who beat childhood cancer; a teacher who has gone above and beyond to close the achievement gap; a group of state legislators who are moving Wisconsin forward; and many others.

No!

He did not take the time to meet with Wisconsinites and he had no interest in hearing any one's story. He even made about 40 kids stay away from his taxpayer supplied office because he did not want to be bothered with their story, unless they came with a check in hand of course!

For the Record, James Sensenbrenner was also "too busy" to meet with any of these kids.  His district is so gerrymandered that he did not even have to pretend.

Everyone knows, I am not a fan of Paul Ryan, and with good reason!

This however, goes way beyond a policy or personality difference.

Who would use a group of teenage cancer survivors as a political prop?  I never thought the answer would be the Speaker of the House of the United States.

It's easy to do, because he has all of the power in the relationship.   They are young and came home incredibly disillusioned with politics and our country.  Yet Paul Ryan can claim to have listened to them, while using them, and no one would know better.

Luckily, some of these courageous survivors are sharing their story, and showing us who Paul Ryan truly is.

Let's as a community stand up for these courageous young people!

Paul Ryan has refused a town hall meeting, he is too busy traveling the country fundraising, but lets call him up, tweet him and tell him to meet with these children and this time ACTUALLY listen to their stories, with no cameras.

Let's show these children that We the People have the power and thank them and reward them for their courage!

Let's also put an actual face on pre-existing conditions for the person who has voted to repeal Obamacare over 60 times!

Lock Her Up!!

  tinderholt2

By Jeff Simpson

No! I do not mean KellyAnne Conway, for using a private RNC email system while in the White House.  Unsecured private emails being hacked was a worry of 2016, in 2017, we no longer have to worry about Russian hackers(they have too good of friends in the White House to hack their emails).

No!  I do not mean Deborah Jordahl.   That poor lady has suffered enough.  All she wanted to do was cash in for her clients with our Government and not be held accountable for anything or transparent about anything.   Then the crazy Dems had to go ahead and ruin it by actually thinking that our public servants needed to operate out in the open.  Ms. Jordahl does not need to be prosecuted she is already sentenced to living in a half million dollar house in Middleton.   The horrors.

No I don't mean Kelly Rindfleisch, she is already locked up!

I am talking about any woman who has an abortion(no matter what) and any healthcare provider who helps perform the procedure!

A Republican lawmaker in Texas who proposed a bill that would criminalize abortion said the policy would force women to be “more personally responsible” for their sexual behavior.
“Right now, it’s real easy,” State Rep. Tony Tinderholt (R) told the Texas Observer. “Right now, they don’t make it important to be personally responsible because they know that they have a backup of ‘oh, I can just go get an abortion.’ Now, we both know that consenting adults don’t always think smartly sometimes. But consenting adults need to also consider the repercussions of the sexual relationship that they’re gonna have, which is a child.”
Tinderholt’s bill, the Abolition of Abortion in Texas Act, would ban abortion at every stage of pregnancy and amend the state’s penal code to allow women and providers to be charged with murder for the procedure. The bill has no exceptions for rape or incest, because Tinderhold said he doesn’t think “there should be any exceptions to murder, no matter what.”

Yes this is Texas, but we all know that there are organizations that drive GOP controlled State Legislatures and when one state gets going on a bill like this, there are others that try and out crazy their peers (see Bill, Bathroom).  How long until Jesse Kremer tries to one up him?

Elections have consequences!   When people put Republicans in charge because Democrats "need a safe space" or numerous other ridiculous reasons, then we must be prepared to live under the rule of the people we put in office.

My best suggestion at this point, is try and move close to a prison so you can visit the people you know who have had an abortion or might need one in the future.

I also look forward to our society in a few years when children of incest, who were not allowed to be aborted, start growing into adulthood!

Here is a clip from that future!

The Donalds Massive Ego & Alternate Reality

By Jeff Simpson

We are going on Day 5 of the Donald's Presidency.  Technically, it is day three because after his swearing in ceremony, he took the next two days off.  Completely ignoring your wife is tiring.

I will say though, The Donald did take time away from his Saturday off day, to let us know that the crowd at his inauguration was YUGE!

The speech that he interrupted his Saturday morning cartoon watching to give, he delivered at CIA Headquarters.  During his speech, he was cheered roundly, and while people were wondering why the CIA, who has linked the Donald to Russia, and Vlad Putin, would cheer the President during a speech, it turns out that now that he has unlimited taxpayer money, The Donald travels with his own cheering section.  Seriously!

Who needs to validation so badly that they need to travel with their own cheering section?

Wait!  There is more.

The incredibly important topic that The Donald needed to spend his first morning off discussing, was the incredibly important topic of ISIS, jobs, the storms battering the US, The official title of Star Wars Episode VIII, his Cabinet Appointments ?  No to none of those minor issues.  There was a much more important issue on The Donald's mind - the size of his inauguration crowd.

We know from experience that The Donald likes to exaggerate the size of things, now he has to make sure that everyone knows that his inauguration was the biglyest inauguration ever.  The Donald always has the best things believe me.

Of course in order to believe that we have to suspend reality!

Maybe the answer to surviving the next 4 years is to suspend reality.   The Donald seems to have done so already! In all aspects of his life.

Forget the popcorn, I am collecting Spam and bottled water.

when camera angles matter

Despite all of the bluster of holding press conferences to yell at reporters and let them know what a big man you are, the one thing that went virtually unnoticed might have been the scariest of all.

One of the Donald's first acts as President of the United States, was to declare the day a "National Day of Patriotic Devotion". I wish I was making this up, but this stuff is straight out of a Dinesh D'Souza movie.

Where have we heard of an overbearing of national power being a problem before?

Scott Walker - The End Is Near!

By Jeff Simpson

Scott Walker, in a recent economic forum speech, put his shades on and gave a speech about the future of Wisconsin.

MADISON — At a recent state economic summit, Gov. Scott Walker slipped on a pair of sunglasses and quoted the 1980s tune "The Future's So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades."
"You think about the future of this state, it really is exciting — not just where we’re at now, but where we’re headed," Walker said as the audience chuckled.
it is a sad state of affairs that when the Governor of your state, at an economic summit, says it is exciting where the state is headed and it is a punchline that draws laughter.

However, what is even more telling is that fact that Scott Walker quoted a song about impending nuclear disaster.

Well I'm well aware of the world out there, getting blown all to bits, but what do I care?
Then there is the last verse of the song:

  • Blowin' up the lab,
  • Torn between two evils,
  • I always pick the lesser.

Knowing Walker's feelings toward education, you see how fitting this is, but I digress.   Scott Walker spent lots of time this summer, drinking and not working, with The Donald, so he knows as well as anyone the impending disaster.

TRUMP: Let me explain. Let me explain.
Somebody hits us within ISIS — you wouldn`t fight back with a nuke?
MATTHEWS: OK. The trouble is, when you said that, the whole world heard it. David Cameron in Britain heard it. The Japanese, where we bombed them in 45, heard it. They`re hearing a guy running for president of the United States talking of maybe using nuclear weapons. Nobody wants to hear that about an American president.
TRUMP: Then why are we making them? Why do we make them?

Ummmm.......

As Timbuk3 also points out in the title track of the same album.

The future's been bright for so long now, it looks like dark to me

The Bitch Deserved It

By Jeff Simpson

Most everyone not living under a rock, or in Waukesha, has seen the so called "pussy tape" of Republican Presidential Nominee The Donald, telling little Billy Bush how he likes to treat women he finds attractive.

Our friends on the right's first line of defense was, that the Donald never actually did it but just liked to brag about committing sexual assault on random women(plus nothing like sexual assault to make little billy laugh his head off).

However, as everyone could expect, this gave an opening for women, who Trump has actually sexually assaulted, to come forward with their story and come forward they did.

One in particular stood out, Adult Film Star Jessica Drake.  This accusation was different, because Trump did not deny doing it, he just basically said - The bitch deserved it:

Donald Trump on Monday addressed the latest accusations of inappropriate sexual contact made against him, saying of the accuser, an adult film performer, "Oh, I'm sure she's never been grabbed before."
Since she is an adult film star, The GOP Presidential nominee felt that he did nothing wrong because he is certain others have done the same.   If she chooses to do adult films she chooses to make her body public for anyone who wants to grab her.

That is the man you are going to vote for for President?

Also, "#nevertrumper" Jimmy Wigderson finds common ground with his nemesis on the issue of attacking women whenever you feel like it,...

Wiggy just cant seem to be bothered that Trump has attacked Ms. Drake, of course we know from past instances within the WISGOP, that they have always put politics over sexual assault.

Wiggy being a "#nevertrump" person shows it is not politics with him, he just does not care about women.

Finally we at CogDis are checking to see if the rumor is true that Alec Cook is in line to be The Donald's Chief-of-Staff or would rather run for Waukesha Assembly Rep.

O' Darling!

By Jeff Simpson

Sen. Alberta Darling, leader of the exclusive club "Wisconsin women for Trump", gave an interview to Mike Gousha, and it was a doozy.

In a Sunday interview on “UpFront with Mike Gousha,” Darling said that Trump’s policies align with women’s interests and argued that undecided conservative voters in Wisconsin will come around to Trump as the election nears.
“When you listen to the policy discussions that Trump has, he is on point with what women want. They want a secure country for their children and for their families,” Darling said. “They think national defense is extremely important, especially since a lot of the terrorism has started to hit our streets in the United States.”
"Trump is on point with what women want"  I assume she means that women want a guy to suck on some tic tacs before they get attacked.    As The Donald let us know, that is his main strategy.  Luckily Peter Griffin was there to film it for us.

Then Darling added fuel to the ignorance fire when she defended these comments:

Host Mike Gousha asked whether Trump’s lewd comments about women, showcased in a 2005 video, bothered Darling. She said that the comments did bother her, calling them “indefensible.” But she noted that they were made 11 years ago, and Trump has “since married and has a wonderful little child.”

I know it never stops any of the WISGOP from speaking about things they have no idea about, but a quick Google search tells us that not only was The Donald and Melania married at the time if this video, she was pregnant with that "wonderful little child"at the time.  He actually met Melania, while he was married to his second wife, and on a date with another woman.

I wonder if Ms. Darling would feel comfortable leaving her daughter alone in a room with Mr. Trump or if her son acted like The Donald around women.

As one of my favorite journalists, Larisa Alexandrovna, tweeted:

While this recent skit from Saturday Night Live, was brilliant, who knew that he was playing off the ignorance of our own legislators:

Let's Make Wisconsin Great Again and make sure Alberta Darling is in the minority in January!

The Creeper For President!

Image result for donald trump they live

By Jeff Simpson

As we get closer to election day, I find myself just waiting for the pain to end.   It is the worst election cycle in my lifetime.   I am not a huge fan of Hillary Clinton at all, but I can not even fathom anyone voting for The Donald.   The fact that he is the Republican nominee, says everything you need to know about the state of the Republican party.   Under Reince Priebus the party has taken a HUGE turn to the far right!    They have practiced divide and conquer successful tactics and work very very hard to make anyone who is not far right the enemy.

That has led this moment in history where our children and grandchildren will look back upon us with disgust and shame and we will deserve it!

Think that many people on the right, and Scott Walker, Paul Ryan, Scott Fitzgerald, Robin Vos, Dale Kooyenga, Reince Priebus, Mike Gallagher, Sean Duffy etc ..all endorsed and will be voting for someone for President of the United States who they would NOT leave alone in a room with their wife or daughter.

Let that sink in for a bit.

This is who they are supporting:

This is the person they are going to give their vote too, which is one of the cornerstones of our democratic republic:

There is the married Donald, eyeing up a minor while declaring her hired for whatever job she wants and then doing his infamous kissing of her(which you can do if your a star).

Maybe to help reduce the Bush Deficit, we could have a pay per view where family values Republicans, sit their kids down and explain to them why they are voting for The Donald!

I know I would tune in!

Fired From The Freeman

By Jeff Simpson

Jimmy Wigderson, who for some reason has been writing a poor column in the Waukesha Freeman and luckily for the people of Waukesha County it is finally coming to an end.

Wiggy announced it in his blog with exactly the attitude that you would expect.  First he explained it in his view.  First he plays the hero:

I suspect there will be some speculation that it’s because of my “Never Trump” stance.

No.  No one will think that can we move on

No, as much as I’d like to pretend I’m a martyr, it’s the result of economics.

Finally a factual statement on Wiggy.com.   Yes Jim does love to play the martyr and yes it does have to do with economics.  When you print crap and no one reads it, it makes no sense to pay some one to write crap.   Besides have you seen the Walker economy?  Businesses need to cut costs, anywhere they possibly can!

His final column was regurgitated crap about the John Doe Investigation.   It is full of too much BS, to share here but (in the interest of anyone being curious, here is one of the more uninteresting lines.
Never mind that if there was anything illegal in the emails that were seized by the partisans at the GAB; the prosecutors there would have happily have gone after the governor or any of his supporters.

How do you fit so much BS in one sentence?   Most of the GAB had ties to the Republican party.    After reading #walkerdocs, the prosecutors did go after Walker, who had to spend north of a million dollars hiring two criminal defense to make sure he did not get charged.  Finally, amongst his supporters, numerous were given immunity and 6 of his closest inner circle members were actually convicted and sent to jail.

It takes four lines of fact checking to counter one line of Jimmy's BS.

Finally, and this is rich, he is such a good person and "Martyr" that he asks you to please withhold your prayers for him, he still has plenty of wing-nut welfare to fall back upon.

But don’t worry about me. I still have my regular gig as the education reporter for Wisconsin Watchdog, I’m still a contributor to Right Wisconsin and the MacIver Institute, and I even have an article for WPRIbeing published soon.Instead, our prayers go out to our friends who have lost more than a weekly freelance column at the Waukesha Freeman. Good luck to them in the future.

As for the future, maybe, just maybe there is hope for the printed media.   Anytime a media outlet gets rid of one of their biggest Bullshitters(I am talking to you Charlie Sykes), there is cause to celebrate.

Let's hope we see more of this!  And soon!

Scott Fitzgerald - Trump Crazy Before It Was Cool

By Jeff Simpson

Yes, the GOP Presidential nominee just threatened to put his opponent in prison.  Apparently Donald Trump wants to make America Great Again by bringing back the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798.

No protesting the government? No immigrants allowed in? No freedom of the press. Lawmakers jailed? Is this the story of the Soviet Union during the Cold War?
No. It describes the United States in 1798 after the passage of the Alien and Sedition Acts.
The strong steps that Adams took in response to the French foreign threat also included severe repression of domestic protest. A series of laws known collectively as the ALIEN AND SEDITION ACTS were passed by the Federalist Congress in 1798 and signed into law by President Adams. These laws included new powers to DEPORT foreigners as well as making it harder for newIMMIGRANTS to vote. Previously a new immigrant would have to reside in the United States for five years before becoming eligible to vote, but a new law raised this to 14 years.

While John Adams, our second President was named a Federalist, he was truly more along the lines of modern day Republicans.    How fitting that the Republican party would come full circle., from the beginning of the GOP, where they arrested their political rivals.  Now the GOP is coming full circle, now in 2016 they are threatening to arrest their political rivals and trying to bring an end to the current Republican party.

I know many of the right wing moon bats, cheer every time they think about Hillary heading to prison but then they do not truly understand our Constitutionally Limited Democratic Republic.

From the Atlantic:

There are many sincere critics who wanted to see a more vigorous investigation into Clinton’s emails, and who were disappointed by the outcome of the FBI’s investigation. Congress hasn’t dropped the issue, and there are multiple lawsuits in the courts, forcing periodic divulgences of additional emails. Win or lose, the issue will continue to haunt Clinton.
None of that should undermine the appalling spectacle of a presidential candidate threatening to have his opponent investigated by a special prosecutor should he win. It amounts to an assault not just on Clinton, but on the rule of law itself. And even amid all the other invective on Sunday night, it stood out as a uniquely dangerous moment.

As Ezra Klein noted:
As bad as the recording of Trump bragging about sexual assault is, this is scarier — this is a major presidential candidate promising to violate our most basic democratic norms if elected.
Jim Goldgeier @JimGoldgeier
When Trump said he'd throw her in jail my first thought went back to Putin doing that to Khodorkovsky.
9:51 PM - 9 Oct 2016

This all sounds eerily familiar, almost deja-vu.   Now I remember!

The Republican leader of the state Senate signed orders finding the 14 AWOL Democrats in contempt and allowing the chamber’s sergeant-at-arms to use police force to detain them
In Fitzwalkerstan, thanks to Scott Fitzgerald the WISGOP, were Trump crazy before Trump was wallowing around in his own filth for the world to see.

Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald was repeatedly warned he would be stepping outside the law if he forcibly returned 14 Democratic senators who fled Wisconsin in February, according to internal emails.
Records obtained from the offices of Fitzgerald and Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Ted Blazel show Fitzgerald was told he was on shaky legal ground by attorneys from three state agencies. The memos and email correspondence were released in response to a public records request from the State Journal.
In an interview Friday, Fitzgerald, R-Juneau, said the flight of the senators and the resulting legislative stalemate were “uncharted territory” that no one knew how to navigate.
But he acknowledged the efforts to return the senators to Madison came off as “comical” and would have become a public relations “disaster” if any lawmakers had been hauled back to Madison in a squad car.
“The whole thing was a mess,” Fitzgerald said. “You just can’t compel a senator to come back to the chamber.”
He said the reality was brought home when police agencies refused to carry out his March 3 order to forcibly detain the senators. Among them was Rock County Sheriff Robert Spoden, who said his department would not honor any order to bring in Sen. Tim Cullen, D-Janesville.
Said Fitzgerald: “There was no cop in the state that would enforce it.”
The Republican Senate Majority leader of Wisconsin, issued illegal orders to try and bully and intimidate his duly elected opponents.

Luckily for the citizens of Wisconsin, our law enforcement agents completely ignored him.

It is time to stop the bleeding, the lawlessness and bullying in WI!   Send our Representatives a message in November by making him the minority leader!
