Paul Ryan - Urban Legend

There is a story that has been flying around the internet, that Paul Ryan was lured into politics by his love of Ayn Rand. Ryan is even known to buy all of his staffers Atlas Shrugged the Book. In fairness to Paul Ryan (R-Wall St.), he did not make his staff watch Atlas Shrugged the movie, since no one could be expected to sit through that! It turns out that Paul Ryan had more in common with Ayn Rand, than just using Social Security to get ahead while working to end it. They also shared a philosophy(at least the Paul Ryan before being challenged by Rob Zerban did): From the New Republic:
"Almost every fight we are involved in here on Capitol Hill ... is a fight that usually comes down to one conflict--individualism versus collectivism."
And let us not forget this gem he told the Atlas Society(I think that might be a clue)on February 2nd, 2005:
“I grew up reading Ayn Rand and it taught me quite a bit about who I am and what my value systems are and what my beliefs are. It’s inspired me so much that it’s required reading in my office for all my interns and my staff… The reason I got involved in public service, by and large, if I had to credit one thinker, one person, it would be Ayn Rand.” - Representative Paul Ryan, February 2, 2005
Now Stephen Colbert wants to name him Vice Pope: Then the Catholic Church said Hey Paul Slow Your Roll: Paul Ryan, who has very expensive tastes, will not take criticism from the Catholic church lying down. paul ryan starts out by asking Who is Ayn rand? and like Peter denied his deity Rand three times before the cock crow:
“I, like millions of young people in America, read Rand’s novels when I was young. I enjoyed them,” Ryan says. “They spurred an interest in economics, in the Chicago School and Milton Friedman,” a subject he eventually studied as an undergraduate at Miami University in Ohio. “But it’s a big stretch to suggest that a person is therefore an Objectivist.”
“I reject her philosophy,” Ryan says firmly. “It’s an atheist philosophy. It reduces human interactions down to mere contracts and it is antithetical to my worldview.
“Don’t give me Ayn Rand,” he says.
Cock A Doodle Doo.............................. Mr. ryan was not done, then he set his sights on the Catholic church, pointing out how wrong they were to dare question him.
"I suppose that there are some Catholics who for a long time thought they had a monopoly of sorts ... on the social teaching of our church," Ryan said during a speech that attracted a full audience and a number of of protesters. "Of course there can be differences among faithful Catholics on this. The work I do as a Catholic holding office conforms to the social doctrine as best I can make of it."
Paul knew that the way Jesus really cleansed the Temple was kick all of the poor out so the moneychangers could party on in peace! Paul taking on the Catholic church was not enough for the man with this big of an ego, ryan then took on the military!
"We don't think the generals are giving us their true advice," Ryan had said, according to Politico. "We don't think the generals believe their budget is really the right budget."
So for those of you keeping score at home, lets do a quick rundown. In the last couple of months, paul ryan has called the right wing media, the ayn rand society, all ayn rand supporters, the paul ryan circa 2005, the bishops from the Catholic church, the religious leaders of Georgetown University and the all the Generals in the US Military Liars. very impressive list. It is still better than being one of his constituents because all he has for the people of Wisconsin's First district is contempt! Who is this guy anyway?

Kathleen Falk: Grace Under Pressure

A must read in the Cap Times:
When the questions came from reporters, giving her ample openings to turn the campaign into a slugfest, Falk chose not to go there.

Instead, she emphasized the fact that she was surrounded by activists with unions, environmental groups and community organizations that were backing her — a coalition that reflected the movement that has taken shape to oppose the agenda of Gov. Scott Walker and to recall and remove him.

It was a graceful and impressive choice. Falk bet on the strength of the movement, and on the appeal of its message, rather than typical attack-dog politics.

This is the sort of campaign that the great mass of Wisconsinites want: issue-oriented, focused on the big concerns rather than personalities, conscious of the importance of presenting the strongest campaign possible against Walker’s immensely well-funded campaign — and the many so-called “independent” groups that will pour money into advancing it.

Democratic primary voters have an opportunity to choose between four fine candidates.
But it is worth noting that Kathleen Falk has displayed a particularly high level of political maturity and commitment to the cause with the choices she has made regarding the direction and the approach of her campaign.

By choosing to build and strengthen a popular movement, rather than practicing predictable attack polities, she has distinguished herself in a positive way. That does not necessarily mean that she is the best choice to challenge Walker. But it does suggest that undecided primary voters should — as they weigh the relative strengths and weaknesses of the contenders — consider Falk’s grace under pressure. That’s rare in politics, and it should count for something.
Compare that to Tom Barrett, who has most of the celebrities of the Democratic Party lining up behind him. Many of them are legends in Wisconsin politics.

Then ask yourself these questions: What were the protests all about? What are the recalls all about? Was the past year and a half all about just putting the Democrats back in power or putting the people back in power? Is this about just changing the governor's name or is it about correcting the wrongs that have been done to the state and upon us?

Seems to me that it was the people sleeping in the rotunda and then on the frozen ground outside the Capitol when they were locked out of the People's House. It seems to me that it's the people that are fighting not only for their jobs, but their very rights and freedoms.

Who is the champion of the people?

And it seems to me that it is the people lining up with Falk. Why aren't they lining up with Barrett?

Kathleen Falk is THE most electable candidate!

Despite what some of our friends on the left like to say about Kathleen Falk's statewide electability, a picture is worth 1000 words!
By the way in case it was not clear, Kathleen Falk ran in 2006 against JB Van Hollen for Attorney General which IS a statewide office. Unfortunately, she had to primary Peg Lautenschlager to do so, which meant that many of Peg's loyal supporters refused to vote for Kathleen in the general election(which was a big year from democrats) and Kathleen was one of the few democrats who lost that year. She performed well in every category but hardcore democrats. Do you think she will have a hard time pulling in the Hard Core left on June 5th? Kathleen Falk is the most electable candidate statewide and the one candidate we will not have to spend our time holding accountable to their campaign promises when they get elected!

Counted Out

I'm sure this will irk some people, but here is another ad from Wisconsin for Falk:

Ooh! Restoring what was taken from us and making Wisconsin whole again! That's too extreme (for some people)!

Walker's Time Machine

Yesterday, I called out Scott Walker on his cynical, hypocritical, and utterly bogus claim that he was going to restore jobs in the poorest sections of Milwaukee.

In that really long article, I listed a ton of reasons why Walker shouldn't be believed.

But, thanks to JB, one of our astute readers, it was pointed out that I missed a blatant example showing that Walker was lying.

In the timeline that Walker provided to "prove" he's been working on this plan for over a year, his very first entry includes this (emphasis mine)

Transform MilwaukeeWHEDA Planning Timeline
April – June 2011Wisconsin State Agencies:
 Preliminary meetings held with Wisconsin’s Department of Children and Families (DCF) Secretary Eloise Anderson and Department of Workforce Development (DWD) Secretary Reggie Newson.
But there's a bit of a problem with that claim.

Newson, per the state's own webpage, wasn't even with DWD until August of 2011 and wasn't appointed Walker's third or fourth - there was such high turnover I lost count - Secretary until October 24, 2011.

It kinda makes you wonder how much of the rest of it was a lie as well, doesn't it?

Barack Obama, Scott Walker Both Stinking Commies

In a word -  Forward!

Walker's Recall By The Numbers - Money Can't Buy Him Love

On Tuesday, the campaign finance numbers came out.

As you can imagine, Team Walker was quite ecstatic.  The raised a whopping $13 million in the last reporting period, bring his total up to $25 million since January 1, 2011.

They also boasted about how 96,292 people gave donations of $50 or less.

Such a grassroots movement!

Needless to say, the squawking heads and the acolyte bloggers sang his paeans.

Surely, there is no way that the unionistas and the rotten liberals could stand up to this tour de force, right?

Wrong! (And stop calling me Shirley!)

There is no denying that $25 million is a considerable sum.  But it's not exactly grassroots.

If one assumes that each of those 96,292 people gave the maximum of $50, that total comes to $4,814,600, or about 19% of the total he raised.  The rest of it came from the out-of-state, big-money donors that Walker's been crossing the country to suck up too.  In other words, his campaign, like him, does not come from this state and is not here for our common good.

The percentage of instate support shrinks even more when one considers the untold millions of dollars being spent for the unreported in-kind contributions by the Koch/Bradley Foundation/Sam Adams Alliance-funded propaganda machines or all the free air time the squawking heads give him in an effort to ensure the corporate takeover of Wisconsin.

It should also be noted that out of that $25 million, Walker has only $4.8 million left.  He's already blown through 80% of the cash on hand.

And he spent more than $20 million on what? Not much.

He spent all of the money and is still losing ground to both Kathleen Falk and Tom Barrett according to polls  just released today.

Despite (or perhaps because of) flooding the TV and radio airwaves with their unceasing stream of commercial and jamming our mailboxes with so much junk mail, he's got nothing to show for it.

People are seeing through the lies to the fact that he's led Wisconsin to be the only state to have a statistically significant job loss.  They can see with their own eyes that their taxes did not really go down, and if they did or even stayed the same, their property values also dropped like rocks.  And most importantly, with the ongoing Walkergate investigations, they can see what a corrupt, untrustworthy weasel he really is.

Despite his impressive numbers, when one looks past the initial magnitude of them, one can see that this contest is coming down to the corporate interests that want to buy the state out and the people who are fighting for their very rights and freedoms.  And one cannot put a price on the fight in people fighting to protect their homelands.  Sisu is priceless.

And while I'm talking about the numbers, for Wisconsin's sake, don't take the fact that the poll shows Walker and Barrett in a dead heat as a sign that Barrett is the more electable, the more viable or the better candidate to take on Walker.

What that shows is only that Barrett as more name recognition which stems from the facts that (a) he just ran  against Walker two years ago and (b) Walker and his propagandists have been attacking Barrett for months, even before he entered the race, thereby raising his name recognition.

And yes, there are clear reasons why Walker would rather face Barrett over Falk, but just remember, Walker doesn't get to decide who we vote for.

I hope you'll join me and all of the other people and various groups who support Kathleen Falk and voting for her on May 8th.  For me, it's not just who is best to beat Walker on June 5th, but also who will take that momentum to fully restore all which was taken and make Wisconsin whole again.

Walkergate: Are We Going To See A World's Record?

A couple, three weeks ago, the news broke that Scott Walker was already going deep into his own pockets for a change and owed a considerable amount of money to his attorneys.  I guess cooperation doesn't come cheap anymore.

Now Dan Bice of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel pretty much confirmed the news again, but then added a few twists.

One twist was that Walker found enough people, or one of his big donors, that agreed to allow $60,000 to be transferred to his legal cooperation fund.

That's not too surprising.  Not only is he trying to keep himself out of prison, but he is reportedly paying to keep one of his top county staff/campaigners, Kelly Rindfleisch, free as well.  And her attorney, Franklyn Gimbel, and his appeals motions, don't come cheap either.

Another twist is that his campaign, which hired former US Attorney Steve Biskupic, has brought in more than $170,000 for the law firm he works for, Michael Best & Friedrich.  Walker's campaign is claiming that the bulk of it went to fight the recall, which so far consisted of getting the taxpayers, as opposed to his campaign, to fund the challenge of signatures.

That leaves about $52,000 left which the campaign labels as going for "compliance issues." That's a whole lotta complying going on.

But take note of the tone that his spokeswoman, Ciara Matthews, takes when questioned:
Walker campaign spokeswoman Ciara Matthews declined Tuesday to identify the governor's donors who authorized using their money in this way.

"Governor Walker’s disclosures have been made in accordance with, and as required by, the law," she said.

[...]

Matthews declined Tuesday to be more specific about the recent payments to Biskupic's firm.

"Again, as I have told you before, the campaign contracts with Michael Best & Friedrich for legal services to handle various compliance issues on our behalf," Matthews said.
Apparently, the media savvy spokeswoman isn't so savvy after all. Otherwise, she's have realized that obfuscating to the media is only going to make them dig deeper and find the things that Team Walker doesn't want us to know.

If one takes the defensive song and dance from Team Walker, the increasing shrillness of squawkers like Charlie Sykes and the propagandists, one could start believing that we may get to see something for the Guinness Book of World Records.

The listing would be the most expensive pair of handcuffs:

Republican Thugs - Phil Dziki Edition

When I was at Blogging Blue, there seemed an endless supply of stories to write about the bad behavior of the republicans and Walker supporters, as they realized they were losing their short term grip on power. I even labeled these stories as part of my Republican Thug series that had too many instances to count. Now that I have relocated here at CogDis, the republican thug stories keep on coming. This one from a republican, walker supporter and former elected official!
A federal investigator and former local elected official has been cited for repeatedly harassing a man gathering signatures during the governor recall petition drive Phil Dziki, 60, of Trevor, was cited for harassment and for unlawful use of a telephone. According to Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department reports, a man in blue Toyota — later determined to be Dziki — confronted the alleged victim while he and another man were gathering signatures in Old Settlers Park in Paddock Lake on Jan. 9. Dziki reportedly shouted at the man that he was not allowed in the park then pointed his finger at him “like a gun” or with “gun-like action” and drove away. Feeling threatened, the petition gatherers called 911. Before they were off the phone with the dispatcher, the car returned and the driver again pointed his finger at them in a gun-like motion.
So this federal investigator & former elected official is threatening others with a "gun-like" action. Brilliant! But as is wont to be the theme at this blog- but wait there's more!
When deputies traced the car’s license plate, they found it was registered to “Elmer D. Fedd, 123 Rabbit Hole Drive in Coon Valley.” “It appears given the close reference to the cartoon character Elmer Fudd, the registration was made fictitiously,” the sheriff department report states. Further investigation revealed that the car was registered to Dziki, an industry operations investigator with the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and a former member of the Wilmot School Board and Salem Town Board.
Wow he lied, who have ever guessed that republicans would lie??? SO he was driving around illegally, I wonder if JB wants to deport him? But wait, before we wrap this up, there's more!
About two month later, the alleged victim told the sheriff’s department that Dziki called him twice, saying he would be “scrubbing” the signatures the man collected on petitions “and if they find any false or bogus signatures he is going to fill out a sworn complaint” to make sure the man would be prosecuted. Dziki reportedly said he knew where the man, a retired firefighter, worked and said “when the recall ends in favor of Walker, I’m going to make sure that everyone knows that you and (the other man gathering signatures) and the others will be rewarded with a present. It will be a nice set of flowers with a note on it. It will be delivered to your fire house in Bristol.” In a second phone call, the caller said “I consider you to be a pariah in this county.”
So this sick freak not only threatens a recall petitioner with "gun-like" gestures, could not let it go and kept harassing this poor man! You say what harm could come with a former elected official messing with a citizen? Let me see if we can find any cases of a lunatic with a gun in WI causing any damage???? Nuff Said!

As Walker Takes Wisconsin Backwards, Maryland Moves Forward

From today's inbox:
Employees of MARC -- part of the Maryland Transit Authority -- can now organize into bargaining units, according the legislation passed last month.

As the Maryland General Assembly session came to a close in April, legislators passed a bill that gives state workers in four previously excluded executive departments collective bargaining rights already enjoyed by their sisters and brothers in the state service. AFSCME members across the state worked with Gov. Martin O'Malley as he led the charge to get this critical expansion of workers’ rights through the legislative process.

The new law will, set to take effect on July 1, will give workers at the Maryland Transit Administration, the State Board of Education, the Office of the Comptroller and the Maryland State Retirement Agency the right to organize into new bargaining units. AFSCME activists are working every day on an organizing campaign with the 2,000 employees covered by these new bargaining units.

AFSCME members lobbied hard for this ‘Freedom to Vote’ legislation. At a time when far too many governors and legislators across the country are trying to diminish workers’ rights, Gov. O’Malley and legislative leaders fought and won a battle to expand the rights of public service workers in the Old Line State. Together we have helped workers gain more of a voice in the workplace and at the bargaining table.
I'm trying to imagine what it would be like to live in a state where the people are given more rights as opposed to here in Fitzwalkerstan where people lose their rights in favor of corporate overlords. It sounds almost too good to be true, doesn't it? I betcha they even have job growth there too!

Walker Returns To The Scene Of The Crime, Mocks His Victims

On Monday morning, just a week before the recall primary, Scott Walker, with his entourage of Lt. Governor Becky Kleefisch and Workforce Development Secretary Reggie Newson, comes traipsing to Milwaukee to take a shot at potential recall opponent Mayor Tom Barrett by announcing a scheme he dubbed "Transform Milwaukee."

To make a long story short, Walker wants to take credit for taking WHEDA funding and use it for what it's meant to be used for.

Excuse me, but for anyone who is familiar with the history of Milwaukee, both the county and the city, for the past ten years, this is like Walker bragging about cleaning up the milk he spilled.

But first, let's look at what he's claiming now.

If we're to believe Walker, he's been secretly planning to revitalize Milwaukee for the past year, even though he never met with Mayor Barrett until last month and has never met with Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele.  (But he did allegedly meet with Milwaukee County Supervisor Johnny Thomas about the time he was being investigated and charged for taking a bribe in a separate John Doe investigation.  Maybe they held their discussion while waiting to be interviewed by the Milwaukee County District Attorney?)

And, as I pointed out above, the fact that this plan has been going on for over a year now, and he is only announcing it now is more than highly suspicious.  It's blatant politicking. (I warned about this happening, but alas, no one heeded my alarms.)

But what really burns me is his record on the things he claims he wants to do now.  Walker said that this grand scheme of his is to accomplish certain things, although he isn't very specific on the when or how he plans to go about this:
  1. Create jobs
  2. Take care of foreclosed and vacant properties
  3. Economic Development
  4. Create bioswales and other structures to address flooding problems
  5. Improve the intermodal transportation structure
Sounds great, right?  Well, until you look at his track record on these points, it might.

Job Creation

As governor, Walker has had the dubious honor of leading Wisconsin to be the only state in the nation to have statistically significant job losses for the past year.  For seven of the last nine months, Wisconsin has been hemorrhaging jobs, all due directly to Walker's failed policies.

Ironically, the 30th Street Corridor, the spot that Walker is proposing to be the beneficiary of his newly found largesse also happens to be the home of Talgo, the train manufacturing company that Walker is personally forcing to leave the state.

Even when he was county executive, Walker was a failure at creating jobs.  So much so that in 2007, then Governor Jim Doyle had to take the Private Industry Council, which was supposed to help train and find employment for Milwaukee's poor and minorities, away from Walker and give it to Mayor Tom Barrett.

To add to Walker's miserable record as county executive, he continuously pared down the transit system.  By 2008, he already cut out 20% of the bus services, which left more than 40,000 jobs inaccessible to people reliant on the transit system.  As governor, he slashed the funding for the Milwaukee County Transit System by even more.  A 2011 study done by the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee issued this warning:
"Particularly in the current economic climate, a substantial reduction of transit service to regional employers would create further difficulties for a regional economy that is already showing few signs of life."
They further advocated for a dedicated funding source for the transit system, which is the only one in the only major transit system in the nation without one, like the dedicated sales tax, which was approved by the voters but Walker actively fought against:
Finally, we join others in urging state and local policymakers to pass the necessary legislation to create a dedicated local funding source for transit in Milwaukee County. The chronic budget shortfalls experienced by MCTS in recent years are due in no small part to the competition MCTS faces every year for a share of county property tax revenues. This arrangement, highly unusual for a large transit system like MCTS, is no longer sustainable. A proposal for a county sales tax to replace property tax funding for transit was approved by Milwaukee County voters in an advisory referendum in 2008. State and local policymakers should respect the preferences of voters and act soon to establish a permanent, dedicated funding source for transit that would help put MCTS on more solid financial footing.
I would be remiss if I didn't point out that Walker laid off over 20% of Milwaukee County's workforce in his time as county executive.  Most of these layoffs came in housekeeping, security and the parks.  Furthering his long history of pay for play, he gave out contracts to Edward Aprahamian, Wackenhut and Kujawa Enterprises, Inc., respectively.  And yeah, all three of these have donated to Walker's campaign.

Foreclosed and Vacant Properties

In the past week, the City of Milwaukee has come out with the new reassessments of properties.  Reflecting the dire economic conditions in the state, many people had their homes drop by as much as $30,000.  This put many people - too many - upside down on their mortgages.  I feel confident in saying that I doubt that these properties which Walker is aiming at fared no better and probably took even bigger blows in their value.

This would make them prime targets for commercial realtors.  And I'm sure that it's a mere coincidence that the Commercial Association of REALTORS Wisconsin were big supporters of Walker and played heavily in his gubernatorial campaign.  Just as I'm sure it's purely coincidental that the Wisconsin Realtors Association has already endorsed Walker in the upcoming recall election.

Economic Development

This is almost as much of a joke as the job creation bit.

As Milwaukee County Executive, Walker first used the economic development positions as political appointment slots for his unqualified campaign workers, who failed miserably:
Walker’s last two choices to lead the county economic development office, Bob Dennik and Tim Russell, came from his campaign and lacked depth in the development business, Clark said. Dennik left the post this week to become an executive with a Pewaukee construction company. Russell is now Walker’s community relations director.
“Walker chooses folks who don’t have (the necessary) experience,” she said. Dennik came under repeated fire from the board the last two years over disappointing land sales results that put the county budget in a jam. He didn’t return several phone calls seeking comment.
Only about $226,000 of the $7.2 million in budgeted land sales revenue for this year has materialized, contributing to a projected multimillion-dollar, year-end deficit. The land-sales budgets have been off $1 million or more in four of the last seven years, county figures show.
In his 2009 budget, in the height of the recession, Walker eliminated the economic development office altogether.

Of course, what can one expect from the person who said that a plan to develop and promote Milwaukee County and the surrounding area to be akin to putting "lipstick on a pig."

Perhaps his newly found devotion has to do with all the left over Koch-o Brown lipstick he had from his invitation-only croquet fundraiser.

Bioswales

Walker claims that he wants to use some of the funding to construct bioswales and work on the infrastructure to control flooding.  The funny thing is he didn't appear that worried about flooding in his last year as county executive, when he vetoed a resolution which would prevent Waukesha County from dumping 10.9 million gallons of their sewer water into Milwaukee County rivers.  These rivers already had a problem with flooding, especially during the spring rains and snow melt.

Of course, Milwaukee home owners aren't as affluent as Waukesha County residents or as commercial realtors, so their plights hold little influence for Walker.

Intermodal Transportation Structure

In his press release, Walker stated that he wanted to direct resourced to "an established intermodal transportation infrastructure to ensure the efficient transportation of Milwaukee products to national and global markets utilizing the water, air, rail and highway systems."

How Walker proposes to do this should be interesting.

His attack on the working people of Wisconsin has already damaged the economy that the once primary airline is all but pulling out of Milwaukee's General Mitchell Airport.

And his myopic approach to rail already killed any chance of high speed rail, and all the jobs that come with it, from ever coming to Wisconsin.

And with his inane attack on mass transit, as noted above, he's put Milwaukee's transit system in a death spiral.  Even if there were jobs, people would not have a way to get to them.

But I'm sure that this won't keep Walker from claiming he's got to widen the entire interstate in the region, since he does have the road builders to pay back for their more than generous support.

Besides the hypocrisy of Walker's sudden conversion into actually giving a damn about the people of Milwaukee, something he's done for the past ten years, it's downright insulting knowing that he as no intention of following through with any of this.  Just like when Walker and his Republican cohorts in the state legislature tried to ram through the corporate-written mining bill, this has nothing to do with jobs.

This stunt was nothing but a cynical piece of political game-playing.  Like all of his "job creating" proposals, this is nothing more than a smoke and mirrors act while he doles out more taxpayer money to his wealthy friends and campaign contributors, while letting those who would cling onto his false promises sit and rot.

It's one thing to continuously attack a group of people because of greed and misguided - OK, insane - ideology.  But then to come back and dangle a phony life preserver in front of the people he's thrown overboard is indescribably cruel.

For that alone he deserves to be recalled.

The 10 people left in the "tea party" are going to be mad!

The Republican party of WI has had enough of the "tea party". You can't really blame them. Everytime they have a Major Rally Planned, a few less people show up than the last time. Recently they held a tax day rally in Madison(apparently most sane people got the memo that we are now paying a lower tax rate than we have in the last 50 years) and they drewa solid few hundred people. Prior to that they held a rally in Wauwatosa, the occasional home of our Re-called Governor and drew around a thousand people. It was at this rally where Tommy Thompson was unfortunately allowed to speak before he hit the beer tent:

Now the powers that be in the republican party, in layman's terms, that means the multi millionaires who used to bankroll the "tea party", have decided that enough is enough. They now have realized how crazy the true believers are and are working to bottle them back up. The problem is, you can not but the toothpaste back in its tube. These loons are now running around and about to turn their insanity towards the republican party itself.

This story hit from RedState
and the remaining 30 "tea partiers" are very upset!

The Wisconsin Tea Party movement is not gelling to Tommy Thompson who presumed he would have an easy nomination to be Wisconsin’s next Republican Senator. Tea Party activists have rallied against him in Wisconsin and now the state party seems poised to shut out a group that has been so helpful in battling the recall efforts there.

According to several people I’ve spoken to on the ground there, the Wisconsin GOP is getting ready to disqualify hundreds of tea party activists as delegates to the state convention.

The GOP in Wisconsin changed its rules to make it easier for the party to endorse in primaries. One person tells me “it made sense for the establishment because typically 700 to 900 people go to the conventions and everyone knows everyone.” But then the Tea Party came to power and has flooded Wisconsin politics, driven, in part, by the union trying to roll back Scott Walker’s reforms.

This year, the Wisconsin GOP is on track for something like 2,000 delegates, which would be double the largest state convention. The majority of those are opposed to Tommy Thompson.
Forgetting of course that Tommy Thompson was one of the featured speakers at numerous "tea party" events, and that they have just been a far right outreachof the republican party anyway. The real fun is that the "tea party" true believers actually think that they helped drive the debate the last two years in Wisconsin and the country.

I believe the correct term while being played for fools by the Billionaires on the right, AFP and the Maciver institute is useful idiots!

Sit back, grab a Spotted Cow and some popcorn(just dont buy it from Robin Vos), this is going to be fun to watch.

Falk Fact of the Day

Statewide electability:

  • Kathleen Falk was born in Milwaukee and raised in Waukesha County with deep German and Irish roots in Wisconsin.
  • Kathleen earned over 1 million votes in her statewide race in 2006; in fact, she earned 50,000 more votes in 2006 than Tom Barrett received in his statewide race in 2010. In 2006, Kathleen lost by about one-quarter of one percent: Barrett lost in 2010 by about 5%.
  • In Northern Wisconsin, Kathleen received both a higher percentage of total vote cast in 2006 than Barrett did in 2010 (7.6% higher) and a higher number of actual votes (29,094 more) than Barrett did.
  • Kathleen was an environmental attorney helping citizens all across the state for over 20 years before serving as the highest elected official in the state’s second largest county for 14 years. She knows how Wisconsinites differ in various parts of the state and how we share the same values.
