Trustee Hendricks to Beloit College Students Of Color - Go Away!

We have covered Diane Hendricks numerous times here at CogDis.  She is the widow of Ken Hendricks of ABC Supply company in Beloit and one of the richest women in the world.  Ms. Hendricks is also a Trustee at Beloit College and also one of the top GOP funders in Wisconsin,.  Ms. Hendricks was also VP of the Trump victory fund.

I was adamant that having Ms, Hendricks serve on both, was incredibly bad for Beloit College's reputation around the world.

Diane Hendricks recently added another title to her resume - Nazi Sympathizer!

Last weekend, in Charlottesville, VA, an empowered far right wing full of Nazis, and white supremacists, grabbed their tiki torches and marched on the city screaming hate!    

While it turned the stomachs of most sane Americans, and many business people and community leaders started distancing themselves from these sickening events.

However it was pretty much widely accepted that the completely failed the humanity test, was elected Republicans.   From The Donald on down, no leaders stepped up in the Republican party to say - hey that is not who we are or what we want to be!    Most just ran from the questions.

With the outrage and disgust, still white hot among the country, The Donald tried to do damage control.   No not the kind where he truly denounced this hate, but the kind where he made sure the billionaires would still hand him unlimited money.    

Among this select group of far far right billionaires was Beloit, Wisconsin's own Diane Hendricks.   Ms. Hendricks let The Donald know that no amount of Nazi's and white supremacists would stop her from donating to the cause.

Of course we know the cause being, less taxes and regulations for billionaires and no chance of the working class to ever organize of stand up for themselves.

All for me, none for thee!

Ms. Hendricks, who lives in a city with approximately 25% people of color, let it be known that she sympathizes with the white power marchers!  

This is what she told The Donald was OK!  They might as well be giving free rein to David Duke.  

On August 21st, Beloit College welcomes its newest freshman class to town.   Maybe this is the video that their most famous Trustee might as well have helped produce this video:

It is sad what has happened to America, it is even sadder to me that my College overlooks hate for the almighty dollar!

Ghost of Wisconsin Yet To Come

I have said numberous times that when someone tells you who they are, you should listen!   Recently Rebecca Kleefisch had a secret "tax round table" discussion at Beloit College with local business 'leaders".  

Rebecca, who basically let us know what to expect if she receives a second term, let us have the quote of the year:

"We want to know how we can love you more," Rebecca Kleefisch told the group of about 30 executives, managers, accountants and others during the 1-hour, 40-minute session.

 As the inimitable Charles Pierce points out:  Now Becky is not the brightest bulb in an admittedly dim chandelier, but she has to know better than to sound like someone at her first Bieber show in front of a bunch of CEO's. Nonetheless, she certainly will try to love them back.

The group of republican donors, were not shy.  They let Becky know how she can be a good mistress to them---- Give them free money!!!

 They said the state should do more to attract new businesses and help existing companies, loosen restrictions on tax credits, simplify the tax code, cut commercial property taxes, consider lowering income and property taxes while increasing the sales tax, and issue more business loans that don't need to be paid back in some circumstances.

What speaks more to free market capitalism than big donors getting massive government loans that do not need to be paid back?  

Particularly brazen was Scott "Blinky Mcblinkerson" Bianchini who wants more than just some love from Rebecca:

 

 ABC's tax director, Scott Bianchini, said the state should stop disclosing how much residents pay in taxes, saying the information is used for "sabotage." Contacted Thursday, he wouldn't say if he was referring to 2012 newspaper reports indicating Hendricks paid no taxes in 2010 because of a change in her company's structure.

 

When you pay no taxes, its best not to let the plebes know!   Besides if they had to pay taxes, it might curtail their political donations!  With no political donations, then you can not get in on the ground floor of the Governor's strategy: 

 

 

The sad thing though, like so many dysfunctional relationships, as much as Rebecca and her friend Scotty LOVE their donors, their donors are not returning the love.     

Then, even more headshaking, was Kory Stoehr, of the McGladrey accounting and consulting company.  He said the problem is we aren't giving helicopter rides to CEO's.  That will make everything better!

 

 

Kory Stoehr, of the McGladrey accounting and consulting company, said his clients complain that state auditors disallow research tax credits, and they tell him what other states are doing to recruit new investment.
“(Company executives) are being flown around in helicopters, just luxurious stuff, and they were given millions in tax incentives,” Stoehr said.

Apparently no one told Kory about the unlimited supply of I-tunes gift cards and Wisconsin Badger tickets!  

Now back to the original, here is a picture of Becky and Mr. Bianchini hving an exchange.   He is asking for free money and Mrs. Lieutenant Governor has absolutely NO idea what he is talking about so she spouts some garbledy gook about the problems of WEDC.

   

 

 

Re-elect the Walker/Kleefisch ticket in November and this will be your tax policy.  A greedy corporate exec telling rebecca how much more taxpayer money he wants and a Lieutenant Governor smiling and waving!

For Sale - Cheap!

We already know the republican legislature is for sale, either as an individual sale, or as a whole package.  Now Scott Walker wants the ability to start selling off our assets  - Cheap(and unaccounted for)!

  Gov. Scott Walker's administration would gain broad authority to sell state property - including prisons, highways, heating plants and university dormitories - under a plan legislators will take up Tuesday.
Proceeds would be used to chip away at the state's $8 billion debt, but the state entities that formerly owned the properties might not see any benefit from the sales. So, a dorm built with student fees could potentially be sold to pay down the debt for a highway expansion, or vice versa.
Critics say the plan that's part of the GOP governor's budget proposal could saddle the state with higher day-to-day costs - such as buying power and steam to heat prisons and dorms - after it sells the properties.
Under the governor's plan, the state also could negotiate sales with individual buyers without going through a public bidding process. Any sales would have to go through a "competitive and transparent process," though that process is not defined and includes no explanation of how negotiations with a single buyer could be competitive.
The plan has generated fierce opposition from supporters of the University of Wisconsin System, who say allowing the sale of UW buildings without the approval of the Board of Regents could be detrimental , especially if the buildings were paid for with the help of student fees or private donations. Currently, the regents have a say in the management of all UW buildings.

What is the worse thing that could happen with this? O yea:

Student leaders worry that student unions, such as the landmark Memorial Union at UW-Madison, could be sold and no longer controlled by the university. Student unions, built with student fees, are central to student life, as are residence halls that also potentially could be sold under the governor's proposal, said Matt Guidry, communications director for United Council of UW Students.

 No need to worry though:

 "Legislators have told us that selling these buildings isn't their intent," Guidry said. "We believe that's their intent today, but the next person down the road may feel differently."

 This group of republicans is ALWAYS up front, open, honest and transparent!  

This bill is so bad it has upset some of his major contributors(who also contribute to their favorite university). Sheldon Lubar, who has donated millions to the Universities of Milwaukee and Madison, and apparently has not paid attention to Scott Walker's Governance the last couple years, was not very happy:

"I really don't think (Walker) thought this through and understands the negative impact this would have on the university," Lubar said.

 Has walker thought ANYTHING through in two plus years?   Well, true to form, if a republican donor is unhappy, so is his/her employee:

Sen. Alberta Darling (R-River Hills), co-chairwoman of the budget-writing Joint Finance Committee, said she was surprised the proposal would allow the sale of highways and prisons and believed legislators would change it to provide more legislative oversight.
"I'm very reluctant to give up any authority that the Legislature currently has," Darling said.

 The Democrats response, typically intelligent, thought out, logical and meek:

Rep. Jon Richards (D-Milwaukee), a member of the committee, said he opposed the plan.
"I don't think we should be rushing to have a fire sale on state property with no bid-contracts," Richards said. "That is not good long-term stewardship of state property."

Things to look forward to under republican rule:

Walmart  Memorial Union - $50/join, $5 entry fee when its not closed for private parties. 

Rent A Center Randal - where the Badgers can pay a lease to rent games on Sunday, while losing all revenue from Sky Boxes.

ABC Supply Dorms  where rent has tripled and security is a broken down phone in the hallway

Ronald McDonald Kohl center where the Badgers basketball teams will not be allowed to play a home game in January thanks to the long term commitment to Ronald McDonald on Ice (bring the kids)

You get the idea...but hey at least the money we get from selling our treasures will go to the Friends of Scott Walker campaign fund!  

We can give up some conveniences to help Scotty get elected President can't we?  

Diane Hendricks Has The Last Laugh!

Why is Diane Hendricks smiling(I think that is a smile)???

Because she bought a Governor and now pays ZERO DOLLARS in state income taxes in 2010! For a mere $510,000 in donations to her employee Scott Walker, she was able to freeload on our great state's economy.

An active financial supporter of conservative extreme right wing causes, Hendricks has given Walker's campaign more than $500,000, making her Walker's largest donor. Her state tax obligation dropped from $2.26 million for 2009 to zero for 2010 because of a change in the corporate structure of ABC Supply said Scott Bianchini, ABC tax director. The company paid taxes of $373,671 for the second half of 2010, the records show. Bianchini explained that before 2010, ABC Supply was an "S" corporation, meaning the profits and the tax obligation flowed to Hendricks as the owner of the firm. In 2010, the company changed its structure so the profits and the tax obligation stay with the company. "Now ABC is paying taxes on its own," Bianchini said. Hendricks' March net worth was estimated by Forbes Magazine to be $2.8 billion - some $300 million more than Helen Johnson-Leipold, chief executive of Johnson Outdoors Inc. The magazine last year listed Hendricks as No. 188 on its ranking of the wealthiest people in America, a spot that had her as the financial equal of William Randolph Hearst III.

I know the righties will be out in force saying that it was a change in tax code but maybe we can clarify that a little more.....

Bianchini declined to comment when asked whether Hendricks, who is chairman of ABC, had other income such as salary or dividends that could have been taxed in 2010. He also declined to say why ABC's tax bill in 2010 was so low compared with what Hendricks had paid on its behalf in prior years, when its profits flowed to her bottom line. "Diane is not willing to divulge any more," Bianchini said. "ABC converted to a 'C' corporation - that's a substantial part of why there's no 2010 tax liability (for Hendricks)." He added that there were other reasons Hendricks paid zero state income taxes in 2010. "We're just not willing to get into it," Bianchini said. "It's just digging, in our opinion, too deep into her taxes." Hendricks, who worked with her husband, Kenneth, in building ABC, became chairman of the company after her husband died in 2007. The company now posts annual revenue of more than $4 billion.

Thanks but no thanks, the ydo not care to explain any more reason why they are freeloading on the taxpayers of Wisconsin and especially the taxpayers of Beloit. By the way want to see what happens in a community when the richest do not pay their fair share??? The community has to get together and pony up even more money to make the community work for all. The citizens of Beloit just agreed to a $70 million dollar school referendum to make sure their children are well educated and prepared for the future. Kudos to the citizens of Beloit, WI and shame on Diane Hendricks!!! Maybe if she spent less time trying to "divide and conquer" our state and more to actually paying for her services we would not have such a big structural deficit!
