Right Wing Reason?!?

I have been busy for a few days, but the right wing crazy never ever stops.  Time to catch up on a couple of things that no one should miss!  

Exhibit A - George Will:

The conservative titan wrote about "the supposed campus epidemic of rape, a.k.a. 'sexual assault,'" in a piece on Friday. He put this trend down to increased political correctness on college campuses, which, he said, was proving that when universities "make victimhood a coveted status that confers privileges, victims proliferate."

Scott Esk is a conservative Republican running for a seat in the Oklahoma state Legislature, and he says he wants to apply Biblical principles to Oklahoma law. He also thinks that gay people should be put to death by stoning. And he isn’t doing much to hide the fact that he believes gay people deserve to be murdered, either.

Rob Morris, who runs a local political website, discovered Esk’s views about gay people while researching each of the candidates running this year. “This is the first time I’ve ever come across an Oklahoman with this kind of fringe attitude,” he told KFOR News Channel 4.

Morris found an exchange on Esk’s Facebook page from last summer in which Esk was asked if he believed gay people should be executed, “presumably by stoning.” Esk responded: “I think we would be totally in the right to do it. That goes against some parts of libertarianism, I realize, and I’m largely libertarian, but ignoring as a nation things that are worthy of death is very remiss.”

Morris followed up on the issue and Esk hardly backed down: “What I will tell you right now is that was done in the old testament under a law that came directly from God. And in that time, it was totally just, it came directly from God. I have no plans to, you know, reinstitute that in Oklahoma law. I do have some very huge moral misgivings about those kinds of sins,” Esk told Morris.

He's Sorry!

 GOP Attorney General candidate Brad Schimel, who gave formerly convicted felon Scott Jensen a get out of jail free card,has revealed another skeleton in his closet.   He had a drunk driving conviction in 1990. 

Waukesha County District Attorney Brad Schimel was cited in May 1990 in Milwaukee County for first-offense drunken driving. Schimel, 48, said he made a mistake when he was young, pleaded guilty and took responsibility for his actions. He has worked to fight drunken driving as a prosecutor, he added.

Yes Schimel took responsibility for his actions, he just felt the need to wait 24 years to "take responsibility for his actions".  He had numerous chances to come clean about his conviction but never felt the need to do so, which leaves the question - what else is he hiding?

I guess as long as he is sorry, whats the harm.  I wonder if he will allow the "I'm sorry, I was young and dumb" defense to be successful with others who come through the criminal system if he becomes our next Attorney General?

Dear Friends,

I want my friends and supporters to be the first to know: today I am officially a candidate for Attorney General of Wisconsin.

As a prosecutor for 13 years, as the District Attorney in the State’s second largest county and during my tenure helping lead Wisconsin’s prison system, I’ve spent my career fighting to keep families and communities safe. And I’ll do the same as Wisconsin’s Attorney General. From the epidemic of heroin abuse to the increasing severity of domestic violence to Internet predators and human trafficking…we face significant law enforcement challenges. It will take an experienced front-line prosecutor to meet those challenges. I’ve handled hundreds of cases from first time drunk driving to child sexual assault to first-degree intentional homicide. 

And the Attorney General must do more. Wisconsin residents respect a women’s right to make health care decisions. They want clean air and clean water. They expect lawmakers to follow the rules of ethics and open government. They want a criminal justice system that is fair, tough and smart on crime. 

The people of Wisconsin want an Attorney General who is an experienced front-line prosecutor with a deep commitment to working on behalf of all the people of Wisconsin in order to enforce the law, protect and uphold the constitution, and protect our shared values. That is who I am and that is what I will bring to the Attorney General’s office.

My family has deep roots in Wisconsin. My grandparents were from the Fox Valley and my 92-year old grandmother lives near Two Rivers. My grandfather was a high school teacher, labor organizer and historian who became a professor of economics at UW Madison in the 1950’s. My father taught at Tuskegee University and was a high school teacher in Madison. My mom was one of the first women welders for Kuper Ironworks and marched for Civil Rights in the ‘60s. Today, she teaches reading at a Madison middle school. My wife Stacy and I went to the UW together and now we are the proud parents of two wonderful daughters.

The legacy of my grandparents and parents and the promise of my daughters’ future inspire me every day: the importance of faith and family, the lessons of history, the imperative for justice and the power of the law. That is what motivated me to become an attorney, to enter public service and what motivates me now to run for Attorney General. 

Wisconsin residents want an Attorney General who does the job without fear or favor. Wisconsin residents deserve an Attorney General who works for them…not for partisan political interests and not for the special interests.

I look forward to traveling across this great State to talk to residents about this important campaign as we lead up to the primary election in August 2014. Schimel Runs/WIggy Fumes

Now that Niedermeier has decided that two terms of not doing his job is plenty, the field is wide open for both parties in the next Attorney General race.  While many mull it, fellow right wing hack and Waukesha County District attorney Brad Schimel is the first to jump in. 

Apparently he saw how easy it was for Van Hollen to make taxpayer money and do little work and he was the first to sign up.  

I am sure the first question you asked yourself was --- "who?".  Let me introduce you.   Mr. Schimel is known for two things.  

1.  He is the man that gave convicted felon Scott "Scooter" Jensen a get out of jail free card!  

2.   Jimmy Wigderson does not like him!

I’m told that some people downtown did not understand what I meant when I referred to Waukesha County District Attorney Brad Schimel as “gelded” in last Thursday’s Waukesha Freeman. I was referring to the practice of removing the part of a male animal’s anatomy responsible for producing testosterone in order to make the animal more docile.
Docility when it comes to government openness is becoming the hallmark of Schimel’s tenure in office. Unfortunately the recent decision to not charge Business Improvement District President Norm Bruce with violating the state’s Open Records Law is just another example.

Apparently he is not man enough for the likes of Jim Wigderson, maybe he is a good candidate to replace JB!
