The Primary That We'd Pay To See

Joel Kleefisch has always been an embarrassment to the State of Wisconsin.  But he has started to become so bad that he is now an embarrassment to the state's Teapublicans.  And when one considers that we are talking about people like Robin Vos, Mary Lazich, Glenn Grothman and Leah Vukmir, that is a considerable accomplishment.

It started out a couple of years ago, when he started to fixate on his lust for blood and phallic symbols when he wanted to start shooting everything in sight. It got so bad that Big Bird had to go into the witness protection program for a while.

A few month later - in an incident that would become a sign of things to come - Kleefisch went to bat for Herr Environmental, who had dumped toxic amounts of raw sewage onto fields close to people drinking wells.  Walker's DNR was already downgrading the situation to a slap on the wrist, but that was still too much for Kleefisch, who wanted to let bygones be bygones.  The fact that the owner of Herr Industries was a big campaign donor to Kleefisch and his wife was just "coincidental."

More recently, we learned that Kleefisch feels that he is above the laws he helps to write when he was busted for a hunting violation.  You know that this isn't the only time he's done something like this.

Kleefisch isn't just physically lazy but intellectually lazy as well.  He showed us this when he got caught plagiarizing quotes from congressman.  Even more problematic, he had to rely on Ashlee Moore - you do remember Ashlee Moore, don't you? - to resolve the mess he created.

Just days ago, we learned that Kleefisch was catering to millionaire Michael Eisenga, working directly with Eisenga to write a bill that would lower Eisenga's child support payments.  As with Herr Environmental, the fact that Eisenga was donating to Kleefisch and his wife was, I'm sure, purely coincidental.

This last incident is so embarrassing that fellow Teapublicans are trying to quietly slink away and put as much distance between themselves and Kleefisch as they can.  These fleeing Teapublicans include Paul Farrow and Leah Vukmir.  And if you can embarrass Vukmir, you know you have really screwed up.  This is a woman who wrote a column stating that ALEC is actually good for us.  She has no shame.

Some have been calling for Kleefisch to step down, which is something that is not going to happen voluntarily.  Some have called for Kleefisch to be investigation.  But that won't happen until under J.B. Van Hollen.  It would have to wait until at least Jon Richards wins that seat.

But there is a way for the state, and for WISGOP, to rid itself of this man. 

He could be primaried. 

And the perfect candidate to primary Kleefisch would have to be someone who is familiar with politics and someone who could pull up the necessary votes to win in such a crazy and dysfunctional part of the state.

And gentle reader, there is such a candidate.

Her name is Kathy Nickolaus.  Hey, she is looking to get back into politics and with her math skills, she would be a natural fit with Walker's budget.  She already lives in that district and so won't have to move either.

And wouldn't such a race - one between the corrupt and the inept - be the perfect analogy for today's WISGOP?

I Have Not Been Drinking! - Pecor

Between the blatant incompetence of Kathy Nickolaus, the lies and propaganda from Jim Wigderson and Maciver, and the numerous assorted strange stories that have come from Waukesha, they are starting to give West Bend a run for their money in crazy.  

The difference is West bend is just filled with crazy people where Waukesha is filled with a group of hard core right wingers who think that they are superior to the rest of us and that rules do  not matter.   Witness the latest in the long lines of republican DUI and name dropping - Rachel Pecor! 

There is an open seat in the 98th Assembly district and a gaggle of hard core right wingers are all running for their chance to get on the public dime.  One of them is jeanne Tarantino, the divorced former speaker for Rebecca Kleefisch(before she was unceremoniously fired for being too old).

While Ms Tarantino is busy knocking on doors, her "high powered republican campaign strategist"  and former Kleefisch recall campaign manager Rachel Pecor is driving around the streets of Waukesha drunk!  Was Pecor off to yet another fundraiser or Waukesha astroturf meeting? not sure but we do know where she was going.  To pick up Tarantino's daughter from dance!  All of the people that have given money to Jeanne Tarantino can rest assured, the money they have donated to tarantino is being put to good use, paying a national republican strategist to get drunk and chauffer her kids around!  

Rachel Pecor was pulled over after she veered into the wrong lane. She was on her way to pick up the child of a state assembly candidate when police noticed something was wrong.
It's around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday night and Pecor was behind the wheel of this car, crossing the center line in Pewaukee.
"Hi. What are you doing? You're all the way on the wrong side of the road," the officer said.

Don't worry, Pecor knows how things work in America, so she starts dropping names:

That's when Pecor starts to play the political game.
“My candidate is running for the assembly here," she answered.
That candidate, Jeanne Tarantino, is running for state assembly. Her child was the one Pecor was on her way to pick up from dance class. The officer had Pecor to pull around the corner to a safe area, but it soon becomes clear she's not in control. She has no license, and the officer notices alcohol on her breath.

Then come the lies:

"That was the other question that i had was how much you've had to be drinking," the officer said.
"I have not been drinking," Pecor answered, to which the police officer replied, "That's not true.”
So the officer starts a field sobriety test. He has Pecor walk toward him....she's on the other side, but you see another officer reach to catch her and pecor try to explain.
"Sorry the heels," she said.
When pecor finally submits to a breath test, the results aren't good.
In the end, officers found 3 empty vodka bottles in the car.

3 empty vodka bottles, if your going to party, do it right I guess!   Then it hits her that she has a good gig travelling around the country and running campaigns while poor schleps give her money, that she does not want to lose:

 "I don't care what you do to me. Just don't let this become a campaign issue, please," she said.

Then finally shedoes what all politicians, who cant stop talking whenveer they see a camera, do when they get in trouble.  She refused to comment!

 Pecor declined to comment about this arrest and calls to the Tarantino campaign were not returned tonight. Pecor got a ticket. If she'd had Tarantino's daughter in the car when she was stopped, it would have been a felony.

I recommend Randy Hopper's attorney!   At least she can take comfort knowing that Ron Johnson thinks of her as a true patriot! 

We are still trying to confirm if Tarantino's new campaign slogan is "A Bottle of Vodka in every car!"

Kristine Burlingame, GAB Is On Line One...

This ad recently appeared in a weekly shopper that hit almost all the homes in Jackson County:

Needless to say, this is incorrect. The Voter Suppression Law was struck down, twice, and the Supreme Court refused to take the case yet. Voters do NOT need to show an ID and are still able to freely exercise their right to vote.

Not only is Ms. Burlingame giving out false information to the voters, she undoubtedly used taxpayer dollars to do so.

Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce you to the new Kathleen Nickolaus?

Wiggy Throws a Tantrum

This week, there was supposed to be a presentation by WEAL's( Waukesha Environmental Action League) Charlene Lemoine and her colleague Karen Feidler(Waukesha County Solid Waste Manager) about PAYT (Pay as you throw). These two well respected women are models of integrity, and  pillars of the community( I know its Walkersha and the pillars are few and far between, right Kathy Nickolaus)

Karen and Charlene,  had planned on giving a community presentation regarding their program.  These two had been working collaboratively(a very good public-private partnership) and came up with a very sensical program called "Pay as you throw", which is a a graduated plan that encourages thrift among consumers by penalizing heavy users.  The more you use, the more you pay.  Hardly a groundbreaking idea and one that will truly save costs, and landfill space!   Here is actually a link to the power point these two great ladies wanted to share with the community! 

All seems well, and good right.  two ladies work hard on a project and come up with an idea to help keep costs down for the taxpayers and the landfill clean.  They want to share it with the community and whoever wants to can show up and watch it and ask questions.  If you like it compliment them, if you dislike it ask the questions you disagree with!  Have a discussion and see what people think and if its a good idea let all of the people decide it by a vote.  A perfect example of our democracy in action in small town America where a bunch of friends neighbors and adults work together to make their community better.

Life in a Northern Town. 

There is just one problem.  Walkersha is not a normal town.  As Kathy Nickolaus has taught us, democracy is NOT welcome in Waukesha.  Before there could be a community meeting where people could get and share information, James Wigderson rode to the rescue!

Jimmy Wigderson has a long history of trying to suppress people's votes, and now it appears, he wants to stop neighbors and friends from even having discussions.  Wiggy found out, because Fred Abadi, the Public Works director, acted incredibly unprofessional and forwarded a copy of the presentation to Wiggy.   The presenters, as a courtesy, shared their presentation with Director Abadi and the director then turned around and sent it to Jimmy.  According to Ms. Lemoine, in her 30 year professional life, she has never had a a presentation compromised like this.   Obviously Ms. Lemoine has never worked with people as unethical as these two.  (I understand that these are public records, but in most of the country, you need to place an ORR request to get public documents. Apparently not in Walkersha).

Wiggy was  so proud of his amateurish behavior that he ran to his blog to brag about it.   Although typically,  when Wiggy got to his blog, decided to leave the truth out!

DO NOT go read his blog, because I would not recommend that to anyone, I will just point out a couple of lowlights.

1.  He calls the harmless presentation(not a single vote was to be taken, nor was there any chance of this proposal being enacted anytime in the near future) a "propaganda show".   The irony is so thick it takes a machete to penetrate, when a paid hack from the secretive Macgyver Institute, who writes a blog where facts are rare commodities, would have the guts to call anything else "propaganda"! 

2.  Wiggy, not surprisingly, let it be known that if such a program were to be enacted, he would be screwing over his neighbors to save a dollar.  Like the typical Wisconsin republican, he has no intention of taking personal responsibility for any of his actions.  

I can’t decide which of my neighbors is going to get my garbage cans every Tuesday.

3.  I have no idea why County Executive  Dan Vrakas would capitulate to such childish behavior,  but he should be asked.  Why would an insignificant blogger with no credibility get documents before meetings?  Why would the county executive not want as much information out to his constituents as possible in all aspects of every issue?   Why would he treat these two pillars of the community so poorly?   Why has he not explained himself?

Finally I have a theory.   Wiggy is adamant that there never be a pay for use garbage fee, and we at Cog_DIs know why!  When everything that James Wigderson writes is GARBAGE, the fees that Jim would incur would be exorbitant!

And That's Why It's Called Walkersha County

Un-freaking-believable:

Sometime after final testing of Waukesha County's election software - but before the April election - County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus mysteriously changed something in her office's computer programming, according to a consulting firm's report released Tuesday.

Only Nickolaus knows what she did. The consultants can't figure it out, and she's not talking.

But whatever she did, it caused a breakdown in reporting election results that will cost county taxpayers $256,300 to fix, the report says.

And that's not the only money that Waukesha County will have to spend to get its election systems operating properly, County Executive Dan Vrakas said Tuesday.

Aging hardware is out of compliance with federal standards and nearing the end of its useful life, the report says. That equipment was supposed to be replaced in 2009, but Nickolaus killed the project because county purchasing officials wouldn't let her award a no-bid contract, said Norm Cummings, county director of administration.

Now Vrakas and the County Board will need to spend unknown amounts of money in the 2013 and 2014 budgets to replace that equipment before the 2014 gubernatorial election, Cummings said.

So while Van Wanggaard and the Koch Media has been spreading their lies insinuating massive vote fraud in Racine, even though they have no substantiated proof, and whining and mewling about the expense of democracy, they apparently have no issues whatsoever with a Republican County Clerk tampering with voting machines in some way only she knows and it's going to cost them a fortune to fix it.

This has gone beyond being solved with her losing her position. There needs to be a full federal investigation (because who can trust J.B. Van Hollen to do anything honestly either?).

And I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out that Scott Walker finds her a comfy, high-paying job somewhere in his administration. After all, he's renowned for rewarding people that helped him when his two elections and he's also well known for associating with people who have no regard for the law or democracy.

Wisconsin's Fiscal Conservatives

Thank Goodness we have elected a group of fiscal conservatives to office in Wisconsin. Led by Governor Scott Walker have brought a new day of fiscal responsibility to our great state!  Of course if this is your view of Wisconsin at this time - STOP READING RIGHT NOW! 

For the rest of us, let's take a look at some of the Republican's fiscal "successes":

1. Republican State Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen decided to stop using taxpayer money to try and suppress democratic votes.  Unfortunately for the taxpayers JB's decision came too late:

 State Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen reversed course Monday by dropping an appeal of a decision on legislative boundaries and agreeing to pay the plaintiffs more than $185,000 in taxpayer money.


Just over two months ago, the Republican attorney general insisted the appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court was essential and said he would be personally involved in overseeing it. But on Monday, he gave up on trying to have the nation's highest court overturn a decision that set different boundaries for two Assembly districts than what legislators who initially drew the lines wanted.

Under the deal filed in court Monday, the state will drop its appeal and pay $185,500 to immigrant rights group Voces de la Frontera, which sued the state over the maps. The group prevailed in March before a panel of three federal judges in its arguments that newly drawn boundaries for Assembly Districts 8 and 9 on Milwaukee's south side violated the federal Voting Rights Act.

 2. From the same article, we are starting to get a preliminary number at how much the secret redistricting will cost the taxpayers of Wisconsin.  

The payment will bring taxpayer costs for the maps to over $1.5 million, and that number could yet climb.

"I guess the taxpayers should be holding onto their wallet," said Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca (D-Kenosha).

For those in need of a refresher course on this topic( there are soooo many), the republicans all signed secrecy agreements with Michael, Best & Friedrich(yes your elected officials signed agreements vowing to never tell anyone what they were doing or how they did it- a new era of "transparency") while redrawing assembly districts in Wisconsin(a process that has to be done by the legislature every ten years).  They denied access to ALL democrats in this whole process(and by default any citizen of Wisconsin who the elected democrats represent).  It was even to the point, where they had to draw up talking points so the less intelligent members like Robin Vos would know what to say in public.  Their little attempt at gerrymandering  our state has cost the Wisconsin taxpayer over $1.5 million dollars and counting!

3.  Comes to us from Walkersha County and everyone's favorite hard core republican - Kathy Nickolaus!

A consultant's report traces problems in reporting Waukesha County election results directly to mistakes by outgoing County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus - mistakes that will cost county taxpayers more than a quarter of a million dollars to fix.

Nickolaus had promised to post timely results online and update them periodically for the April 3 election. But the public didn't learn the results of contested local races for hours, while reporters and election reporting service representatives were forced to tabulate the vote totals themselves from long paper tapes hanging on the walls of a meeting room.

The embattled county clerk was already under scrutiny because of her role in the 2011 state Supreme Court race, when she left the entire city of Brookfield out of countywide vote totals. When those 14,000 votes were added in, two days after the election, Justice David Prosser had won by 7,000 votes, instead of narrowly losing to Assistant Attorney General JoAnne Kloppenburg, as the original count showed. But the uncertainty over the Waukesha County vote led to a statewide recount that confirmed Prosser's victory.
Nickolaus, a Republican, agreed to withdraw from directly overseeing this year's gubernatorial recall election after County Executive Dan Vrakas, a former GOP legislator, threatened to call for her resignation if she didn't hand off her election duties. She also announced she would not seek re-election in November.
After the April election, Vrakas told the county Department of Administration to hire a consultant "to get to the bottom of what the problems were," said Norm Cummings, director of administration.

The full report from SysLogic Inc., a Brookfield consulting firm, was not immediately available Monday, but some of its findings are briefly summarized in a funding measure being considered by the County Board.

SysLogic linked the April problems to an upgrade that Nickolaus ordered in the county's election software before the balloting. The firm found that Nickolaus was the only person trained to program the upgraded software, but she "did not follow the proper protocol, resulting in the failure of the functionality to compile election results," the fund transfer ordinance says.

At the time, Nickolaus had said that when her staff tried to upload results from voting machine memory packs into the reporting program, it wouldn't work.

"We were shocked," she said, because she and her staff had tested the reporting program "many times."
Both in the April election and in the 2011 high court race, the problems were compounded by the lack of backup for Nickolaus and her system, the firm found. That echoes long-standing complaints from Cummings about the way Nickolaus has managed her computer systems.

"She didn't allow anyone to help," Cummings said. "With every election, there's a huge risk that something will go wrong."

Nickolaus and Vrakas did not return telephone calls seeking comment.

After Nickolaus stepped aside, Command Central LLC, the Minnesota election software vendor, wasn't able to arrange training for other county staffers until late August, Cummings said. That led the county to hire Command Central to program the software itself for the May 8 recall primary, the June 5 recall general election and the upcoming Aug. 14 primary, at a cost of $237,300, he said.

Later in August, Command Central will train Deputy County Clerk Kelly Yaeger and a county information technology staffer in programming the software, for $4,000, the funding measure says. Without that training, the county would have to spend another $67,600 for Command Central to handle the programming for the Nov. 6 general election, the measure says.

"We can't take the chance with only one person knowing it (the programming)," Cummings said.
Cummings stressed that the consultant report found only errors and poor procedures, with no evidence of fraud. The problems are confined to how vote totals are compiled by the county clerk's office, and have nothing to do with how voting is administered by municipal clerks' offices, he said.

The SysLogic report cost $15,000, for a total of $256,300 to investigate and fix the election reporting problems, the funding measure says. That money will come from the county's contingency fund, if the County Board agrees.

Good job Waukesha, keep voting for anyone with an R after their name!   By the way, I could have saved you the $15,000 consultants fee andjust charged you a tank of gas and a good meal.  I could have diagnosed the problem immediately, republican incompetence.   Here is some free advice for November:    Staff from really bad politicians MAKE really bad politicians!  Afterall, Nickolaus spent 13 years working for David Prosser and had to get immunity from the original caucus scandal to keep from going to prison!

 4.  They passed Act 10 strictly because they were told to, and as a way to punish people who voted democratic, because they tried to pass it it through so quickly, they had no idea what was in the bill!  

Wisconsin's controversial 2011 collective bargaining law may add $87.5 million to state retirement system costs next year due to a little-noticed change that will boost employee benefits.

The unanticipated costs aren't a back-breaking amount for the massive retirement fund, but they illustrate why laws that alter the complex retirement system should be examined carefully before enactment, said Robert Conlin, secretary of the Department of Employee Trust Funds.

For those of you still scoring at home, the total cost that the fiscal conservatives have needlessly spent  $89,256,300.  In other words voting democratic will save the state at least $90 Million dollars!   

This is just the tip of the iceberg! 

Scott Walker: The Kathy Nickolaus Of Job Creators

Scott Walker is pulling all the stops on the extent he will lie to the voters in order to keep his job, at least until he is indicted.

The latest gimmick is that Walker is now claiming to have calculated the jobs numbers in a "more accurate" manner.  What Walker wants us to believe is that during the first year of his abbreviated term as governor, he didn't really lose 34,000 jobs, but had actually created 23,000.  And how convenient it is that he just so happened to do this three weeks before the recall election.

Whoo, boy! Where to start?

Did he pull a Kathy Nickolaus and find those jobs in an unsealed bag in the back of his closet?  Or did he really help create those jobs and forgot to hit the save button?

But seriously now, Walker's got some problematic issues regarding this claim.

First of all, even if one were to give Walker the benefit of the doubt on this, and ignore the fact that it doesn't allow a comparison to other states which have been shown to be doing much better than Wisconsin, it doesn't help him much:

Even using the more positive numbers from the quarterly census of businesses, the governor finished his first year just a fraction of the way toward meeting his target of 250,000 private-sector jobs in four years.

"It would certainly be nice if the particular year saw a 1% increase rather than a 1% decrease, but this remains a slow jobs recovery using anyone's numbers," said John Heywood, an economics professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

But one would have to overlook a lot of things to go as far as giving him the benefit of the doubt.

For example, Walker has a notoriously bad time whenever it comes to numbers and math. Not only that, he's tried to do a similar stunt before and got busted out on it.

In 2009, when Walker was Milwaukee County Executive and prepping for his run for governor, he wanted to show that he had some real fiscal acuity, he started the year claiming a huge deficit and ended it with a huge surplus. But this miraculous $24 million turnaround was easily proven to be a lie:

In 2009, Scott Walker declared a fiscal emergency, stating that Milwaukee County faced a $15 million deficit. In order to address this, he ordered all county workers to start on a reduced work week schedule. This meant that all workers would only be putting in 35 hours per week instead of the standard 40 hours.

The arbitrator also found that Walker failed to prove that there was even a fiscal emergency, when an analysis by the county's auditor, Jerome Heer, found that there was only a minimal deficit, if even that. This was later reinforced when Walker claimed a $24 million turnaround resulting in a supposed $9 million surplus.

It should be noted that the supposed surplus from that year is coincidentally just about the same amount that the county "saved" by Walker's illegal furloughs, so that surplus has been basically wiped out.

Another problem with Walker's claim, if you really, really want to believe him is how those jobs came about.  This is something we have discussed before and is clearly illustrated in this chart:

As you can clearly see, the job growth phase of 2011 came when Governor Jim Doyle's budget and policies were still in effect.  It was only when Walker's policies like Act 10 took effect that the job losses started happening.  And as you can see in the chart, once the effects of Walker's budget started kicking in, the job loss accelerated.

So when Walker is saying that there was a job growth in 2011, what he is really saying is that he didn't lose as many jobs as what the Bureau of Labor Statistics numbers show.

Wouldn't make that a great slogan for Walker's campaign in these final weeks?

"Yeah, I suck at creating jobs! But just not as much as you think I suck!"

Jim Wigderson: Mall Cop

Wigderson is at it again.  This time, surprisingly, he is not making stuff up! This time its even worse.

Wiggy made an attempt, as many on the right do, to post about the incompetence of Kathy Nickolaus.  Supposedly, this shows that they are independent writers, by continually throwing Nickolaus under the bus.   However, ever since she was part of the Scooter Jensen filth campaign at the Caucus scandal of a few years ago, her incompetence and lack of ethics were clear.   They were also acceptable for years because she had an R after her name and lived in Walkersha.  Luckily, for the rest of the state, her incompetence has been fully documented.

The story on Nickolaus was not the problem(he actually used facts for a change), it was James' punchline at the end.   According to his own words!

Jeff Christensen had cookies, and the WTMJ guys had a flask (the courthouse x-ray technician showed me the video). That’s enough right there for a pretty good victory party.

Which of course leaves us some questions that I hope the Waukesha DA and/or the County Executive get answered.

1.  Why is the x-ray technician showing Wigderson the security video?  Is James cleared to see that?

2.  Why in a county that thinks the "stand your ground " law is too lenient would they worry about guns in the courthouse?

3.   Are the people in Walkersha more or less safe, with the X-ray tech taking such little interest in his job?


4.  Is that Wiggy's best attempt at being witty and funny?

5.   Why, when wiggy finnaly gets a source would he out him the next day?  I am sure people who have  a secret to tell will think twice about telling Jim. 

Kathy Nickolaus is Out of There!

In a state full of  unqualified incompetent republican elected officials, the textbook example of it is Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus.  Nickolaus is so incompetent that even republican hack James Wigderson can not defend her. .  That is saying something, as Wiggy has even defended Brian Pierick and Tim Russell's preying on young boys, anything to advance the cause!

Yet even Nickolaus is indefensible to even the truest of the true believers. Finally she sees the writing on the wall(finally looked in a mirror perhaps) and is not running for re-election.  What no one knew about Nickolaus though was her brilliant sense of humor!

"It's time to close the door on this chapter of my life," Nickolaus said Friday afternoon. "So much has been focused on me, but now it's important that positive energy is spent on the re-election of Gov. Scott Walker, Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch, and Sen. Scott Fitzgerald."

She is implying that everything spent on her has been "positive energy". After the laughter stops, we realize that instead of the term "positive energy" she meant to use "incompetence".That fits much better in that statement.

Nickolaus said constant public scrutiny was one factor in her decision to leave the position she's held for 10 years, but ultimately she feels it¹s just time to move on. "I wanted to announce early so that a qualified candidate could get into the race," Nickolaus said.

Nickolaus once again makes us laugh, as if a qualified candidate has been in the office for the last 10 years and as if Waukesha County cares about electing "qualified candidates"

Three people have already filled out the necessary paperwork to run for the position, but Nickolaus said it's too early for her to decide if she'll endorse anyone to be her successor.

Again she cracks us up! Anyone running for office, will define the word running, as running as far away from Kathy Nickolaus's  endorsement as they possibly can.
