My Endorsements for Tuesday August 12th!

For What Its Worth, Here are some of my endorsements:

Governor -

I do not endorse, but I voted for Bret Hulsey as a protest vote to let the powers that be know that how they have handled this race is wrong, damaging in the short term and destructive in the long term.  Do I want Scott Walker to win again?  Absolutely not!   Do I think Brett Hulsey would be a better Governor than Scott Walker -  By leaps and bounds yes!

Lieutenant Governor- 

I do endorse Mary Jo Walters!!   I think the work she has done gathering signatures, engaging people and talking actual issues should be rewarded.  I appreciate what John Lehman has done in the past but his time has past.  When he ducked a debate he showed me his time has come and gone.  

The 63rd Assembly district - 

Bryn Biemeck -  Anytime you have a chance to knock Robin Vos from an elected position you need to take it.   Redistricting has made it almost impossible in many seats for the opposing party to make a difference.   With no real Democratic race on the ballot(I dont care who wins the AG, they are all head and shoulders better than JBVH or the his little twin replacement), now is your chance to show up on Tuesday and make a huge difference in the state of WI politics.

 In an off year primary, you can make a difference here!!

Senate District 21 -

Jonathan Steitz -  Triple dipper and former senate loser, Van Wanggaard, was being rewarded by the republican party for turning on the union he belonged to his whole career by having a distrcit redrawn for him where he might be able to win.  Then extremist Steitz stepped in to run and Van was screwed.  He does not have the appeal to the moderates or the left and the far right is now behind Steitz who strong believes in secession.    As the above race, you can make a difference here and watch the crazy Jonathan Steitz win and then all of the sane people in the district can get behind Randy Bryce who is a much much better candidate than both of them combined.  

6th Congressional District:

Glenn Grothman.   Here is another race that l would love to see the local Democrats cross over and support Grothman.   Democratic candidate Mark Harris will win in November anyway, and I am a firm believer that the bigger stage that Glenn Grothman has the better it is for everyone on the left!  

Wisconsin 72nd Assembly district.   

Scott Krug has to go!  He really really has to go.  Dana Duncan is the one to send him packing and represent the 72nd Assembly District like it should be represented - intelligently!    First he has to win the Democratic primary against a long time party machine backed candidate.   Please help him get through the primary and lets go about beating Scott Krug.    

Senate District 17:

This is a race where every democratic vote will matter.   There is long time local resident Ernie Wittwer running against political insider Pat Bomhack.  Bohmack will be more of the same vanilla, center right,m kowtow to the republican candidate that we have way too much of in Madison, WI.   Wittwer is the one to keep the tradition of independent thought, well spoken and carefully considered positions that District 17 is used to.   I recommend  Wittwer!

Mike Tate then:

Gang- I often promote the FB pages of all Dems running for an office, especially higher profile offices. More of a public service. Did the same thing in 2010, 12 and now. Not an endorsement. We promote Democrats running for office. If another serious candidate for Governor announces you’ll see myself and the party do the same thing. If you want someone else to run, go ask them to do so. Additionally there is no primary at this time and isn’t unless someone else enters it. So much as with Tammy Baldwin last year the party will promote Mary’s candidacy and should another serious candidate enter the race would promote that candidates activities too. Don’t remember anyone complaining about us promoting Tammy prior to her receiving full support of the party. No difference here.

Mike Tate now(emphasis mine):

A month before their annual convention, top officials with the state Democratic Party have officially endorsed gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke in her bid to challenge Republican Gov. Scott Walker.
The party's Administrative Committee voted unanimously on Sunday to back Burke -- a former Trek Bicycle executive and one-time aide to Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle -- over state Rep. Brett Hulsey in the governor's contest. The committee is the party's central governing body, meeting quarterly.
Hulsey, a Madison Democrat, complained that party leaders unilaterally made the decision to back his primary opponent rather than his underfunded campaign. The endorsement comes weeks before the Democratic Party convention will be held in Wisconsin Dells on June 6-7.
"Apparently, they prefer a selection to an election, which seems a little undemocratic to me," said Hulsey, a long-shot candidate for the state's top post.
Democratic Party officials have not even listed Hulsey as a candidate on their official website. He also is not being invited to speak at the convention. 
Democratic Party Chairman Mike Tate said it was an easy choice.

Overall message - Send us your money and Do NOT question us!  

Do I support Hulsey?  - No
Would Burke get the endorsement at the convention over Hulsey? - Yes

Currently Bret Hulsey is a Democratic Elected official, so now you see how you get treated if you stray from the reservation and WHY no one else was willing to step up to challenge Mary Burke.

Who Should Apologize?

In the last four years, the republican party of Wisconsin has focused on Suppressing minority and poor votes to the tune of over $1,000,000 Wisconsin taxpayer dollars, which would effectively take the vote away from more than 300,000 Wisconsinites. They had already hindered minority access to the polls.  

The John Birch Society is not only making a comeback, its based in Wisconsin AND their leader is a big player in the republican party! 

Party leader and former republican Vice Presidential nominee Paul Ryan (R-Wall St.) has not only blamed his loss on minorities voting but called a whole race and culture lazy.   

We have a long term elderly white State Senator whose made a career of fighting Kwanzaa and ending Affirmative Action, whose views apparently have earned him a big promotion.  

The WalkerDocs were ingrained with racism throughout including(but definitely NOT limited too) this one:

This morning I went to sign my Dog up for welfare.  At first the lady said, ‘Dogs are not eligible to draw welfare.’ So I explained to her that my Dogs are mixed in color, unemployed, lazy, can’t speak English and have no frigging clue who their Daddy’s are.  They expect me to feed them, provide them with housing and medical care, and feel guilty because they are dogs.  So she looked in her policy book to see what it takes to qualify.  My Dogs get their first checks Friday.”

“’This is so true!’ Rindfleisch responded.”

Not many things funnier than comparing welfare recipients to canines.  Let's also not forget the numerous Scott Walker staffers who were known for racist rants! 

Charley Sykes has the loudest republican voice in WI and many republicans are regulars on Jerry Bader's radio show.   

The Wisconsin republicans also passed a bill, which scaled back a settled law,  allowing whole communities to approve of racism, with their race based high school mascot bill.

The head of national GOP, Reince Priebus, is from WI and was able to move up the ranks of the party by his perpetual voter caging schemes.   

Scott Walker himself called Federal Judge Lynn Adelman a racist for NOT rubber stamping his voter suppression bill. 

Last, but most certainly NOT least, they are voting this weekend, at their statewide republican convention, to Secede from the rest of the nation.  Apparently they do not feel as though they should be part of a country that elects an African American president.   

While I do not approve of Bret Hulsey giving out hoods at the republican convention, I can see where he might have gotten the idea!  

However, since not a single issue listed above, ever drew a single apology from our friends on the right(or a demand for apology from the Democratic party), I am at a loss as to how Hulsey's possible silly publicity stunt, would make Democratic Party Chair Mike Tate sprint to the nearest media outlet to apologize to all republicans.  

For Context, I recently asked Chairman Tate for a comment when Democratic Gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke had this to say:

BURKE: "In terms of the fiscal picture, there is no doubt that the first budget that [Walker] introduced and that he implemented significantly improved the financial situation of the state, because the state was coming out of this downturn, in 2008 and 2010, revenues were going down, there were, you know, the structural deficit grew, and basically he got rid of the structural deficit."

 Chairman Tate deferred to the campaign, who also refused comment(on the blatantly false statement).    Not to mention that they had Milwaukee County chair Chris Abele as a feature speaker at their recent annual Founders Day Dinner.   

I only wish the Democratic party were as quick to defend the workers, lower and middle class and minorities in Wisconsin as they are the republican party.
