The Giuliani Privilege

By Jeff Simpson

Rudy "911" Giuliani. former Republican Mayor of New York City, has been everywhere in the news telling anyone who will listen, that there was nothing wrong with Darren Wilson Shooting Michael Brown.

After days of nation-wide protesting and rioting over the grand jury decision to not indict former Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani said on Sunday that prosecutors shouldn't have tried to indict him in front of a grand jury in the first place. Doing so, according to Giuliani, was political theater.
"I don't see how this case normally would even have been brought to a grand jury," said Giuliani, a former prosecutor, on Fox News Sunday. "This is the kind of case—had it not had the racial overtones and the national publicity—where a prosecutor would have come to the conclusion that there is not enough evidence to present to the grand jury."
One thing that Mr. Giuliani has to thank his status and skin color for is that he still has a daughter.

The rebellious daughter of former law-and-order Mayor Rudolph Giuliani was busted today for allegedly stealing makeup from an upscale beauty and skin care shop near her Upper East Side home, officials said.
Cops said Caroline Giuliani, 20, a student at Harvard University, was arrested after security cameras caught her stuffing makeup into her jacket pocket at a Sephora store at E. 86th Street and Lexington Avenue shortly before 2 p.m.
Giuliani, who was in the store by herself, was confronted by a sales clerk and a store security guard, who called police.
Sources said she allegedly stole five items, worth about $100.
During the wait for cops to arrive, store officials established the suspect’s identity, and apparently had a change of heart and declined to press charges. But by then it was too late, and the daughter of the man who built a reputation for being tough on crime was carted out in handcuffs.

Unlike Michael Brown, Caroline lives to shop(lift) another day!   This must be part of the 7% crime that Rudy likes to talk about.

  1. Did the girl go for the officer's gun? Did she hit the officer? Did she bulrush Him? When you answer yes to any of the three questions your comments might be legitimate. It has become disgusting listening to people try to play the race card in the Michael Brown incident when no one on earth would be defending a "white" man in the same situation. My suggestion is that you quit using this case as the "poster child" for racism because it gives you zero credibility when you use the Ferguson case as proof. Making ridiculous comments like comparing a shoplifter to someone attacking an officer only fuels the flames that you should be trying to put out.

    2. I'm with 1st Anonymous on this one, and I did read Jeff's post, he is trying to compare the Mayor's daughter to Mr. Brown. Guess that makes me a moron too.

    4. Yes it was to show that maybe Mr. Law and order had better take care of his own house before he starts telling everyone else how to clean theirs. Secondly he never had to worry about his daughter not coming home because she shoplifted, heck they tried to drop the charges. Where would a poor African American be after the same exact crime?

    5. I have children, and if one of them chose to attack an officer, I would fear for their life. Anon at 1:57, when you start your comment the way you did, nothing you say afterwards matters. People like you make it impossible to look at something from an unbiased perspective. My guess is that when you tried to tell people to vote for Burke and started out by saying, "actually moron", it turned more people off then on.
Jeff, I have two children in law enforcement and hopefully they never have to pull a gun. My guess is that Wilson's parents had to worry every night he went out on patrol about his safety. I'm not sure why that never gets brought up.
Let me ask you a simple question, if Rudy had a 300 pound man for a son who attacked an officer, do you think he would be taking a chance of being shot?

    1. Sources, really?? Have you read anything on the case? Wilson got off because the grand jury believed he felt his life was endangered based on believing Brown went for his gun, hit him, and charged him. The other comments are based on my opinion. My opinion is that Giuliani's daughter, even if she was someone else, would not have been shot based on the circumstances as stated above. Asking for sources is rather foolish because the fact that the grand jury ruled Wilson felt his life was threatened can be found on every news source you can imagine. Do I believe racism is still an issue? It most certainly is, but to claim Wilson shot Brown due to his skin color and that Giuliani was not shot because of who she is, which is the basic premise presented, is beyond ridiculous.

    2. Why didn't they shoot Cliven Bundy?

  3. I read the testimony. Officer Wilson claimed that Brown attacked him with such ferocity that he feared for his life...according too Wilson, all the while brown was clutching a hand full of cigars in one hand. he then stopped assaulting Wilson long enough to hand his cigars to his friend and then renewed his assault. during the time of the handoff, the officer was neither able to retrieve his weapon, taser, pepper spray, roll up his window nor exit his vehicle. Believe it or not, Wilson was not in any way cross examined on this obviously unlikely scenario. later, it turned out the prosecutor was prosecuting Wilson while essentially, simultaneously raising money for him through a police benevolent society he helped run. Later the prosecutor admitted that he allowed obviously perjured testimony from a witness he admitted wasn't even present at the time of the shooting. Interestingly this was the testimony that had Brown attacking Wilson "with his head down, like a bull". I think that what ever happened, it's unlikely that it happened the way Wilson said it did. It's also unlikely that the prosecutor didn't commit aat least two 2 major breaches of ethics. I'd wait for the federal findings.

    1. Isn't it time to quit the lie that "criticizing police brutality" = "hating cops ."

It's like assuming that all GOPs only are OK with these tactics because they're brutalizing minorities and not rural/suburban whites. But that's not right either, is it WHAAAA-ska?
