Clarke: All Hat, No Cattle, And An Abundance Of Manure

When he was Milwaukee County Sheriff, David Clarke wasn't very good at his job. There were at least six deaths at his jail in just over a year. He pulled almost all of his deputies off of highway patrol. Instead of doing his job, Clarke spent most of his time traveling the country - and to Russia - to give paid speeches and to stump for Trump.

Having an approval rating in the 30s and facing almost certain defeat in next year's election, Clarke suddenly resigned to take a job in Trump's cabinet. But this quickly got shut down by General John Kelly, Trump's chief of staff. So Clarke ended up being a special consultant to Trump's PAC. There's no knowing if he's actually doing any consultation work, since he is still extremely busy making an ass out of himself on Twitter.

For example, when Congress woman Fredrica Wilson started calling out Trump for disrespecting the grieving family of a fallen soldier, Clarke jumped into action:

Hmm, that doesn't explain all the other people calling Trump out. Unless Clarke thinks that Senator John McCain and former President George Bush are black congresswomen.

Clarke's defense of his master turns into comic relief a few days later when Clarke killed irony with one tweet:

Yes, this is coming from a guy who wears an ill-fitting cowboy hat himself and a chestful of fake medals. At least Rep. Wilson has a reason to wear her hats. Clarke's only reason is that he's trying to be more like a white conservative.

If you thought that was the ultimate faux pas, you would be wrong. There's more. There's always more.

Clarke topped off the week with this doozy of a tweet, which I decided to screencap before he deletes and/or changes it:

Surely, the gentle reader will recognize that the picture of a crying Obama was from when Obama was discussing the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary, where 20 children and six teachers were gunned down in cold blood.

To make things worse, this isn't the first time Clarke has used that picture and exploited these deaths for a cheap political shot. In 2016, Clarke used the same picture to claim that black voters were rejecting Obama to vote for Trump:

That is definitely the signs of a sick, twisted mind.

This shameless exploitation of such a tragedy makes his typo seem trivial, when he says that Trump has the "metal" instead of mettle.

On second thought, maybe Clarke is just a graduate of the Trump University School of Tweeting.

Sandy Hook and The Shame of Wisconsin

This past Saturday marked the one year anniversary of the tragedy that fell on Newtown, Connecticut, when a crazed gun nut went into Sandy Hook Elementary School and took the lives of 20 innocent children and six brave educators who gave their lives trying to save the children.

As the nation stopped to remember and to mourn this senseless loss of innocent and heroic lives, there was also some righteous anger directed to our elected leaders in Washington, D.C., who have done precious little to pass sensible gun control laws.

But no where is the shame of inaction greater than in Wisconsin.

Over the past three years, the Teapublican legislature and governor, and certain sellout Democrats, rammed through irresponsible gun laws which has led to a spike in gun violence and can be attributed directly to at least one death.

But the Teapublicans had gone way beyond the pale last month when they refused to support a resolution honoring the 26 victims of the Sandy Hook shootings, even though seven of them had cosponsored the bill:

Assembly Republicans refused to consider a resolution honoring the 26 victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting during its last regular session of the year — despite the fact that several of them were listed as co-sponsors.

Democrats tried to force a vote on the resolution, which was not scheduled to be taken up. The measure wasn't allowed to come forward, on a 53-39 vote.

There is no justification for not taking up what should be a no-brainer vote.

For the Teapublicans to refuse to allow a vote on this clearly demonstrates the emptiness of their hearts and souls and brings shame to all of us.

As unfathomable as the Teapublicans' actions are, it is equally incomprehensible that anyone would want one of these fools to represent them.  Next year, in 2014, we will have a chance to rectify this.  I would expect every single Teapublican to have a Democratic challenger and that this is brought up on a regular basis.  Force them to explain why they disrespected these children and these heroes.  Then vote their arses out of office as fast as you can.

Finally Time to Acknowledge Newtown!

Right after the tragic shooting @Sandy Hook Elementary our friends on the right were appalled that anyone who would consider bringing up the topic of sane gun legislation then.  Too soon!

Apparently, our friends on the right have decided enough time has passed and now is the time to discuss Sandy Hook and honor the victims.  Of course, our friends on the right are doing it in a unique way that only they can!

It is now a topic of right wing hate radio:

On his show Davis & Emmer, which is broadcast by Twin Cities News Talk AM 1130, he attacked the families of those killed in the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School for speaking in support of stricter gun laws.
“I have something I want to say to the victims of Newtown, or any other shooting,” Davis said. “I don’t care if it’s here in Minneapolis or anyplace else. Just because a bad thing happened to you doesn’t mean that you get to put a king in charge of my life. I’m sorry that you suffered a tragedy, but you know what? Deal with it, and don’t force me to lose my liberty, which is a greater tragedy than your loss. I’m sick and tired of seeing these victims trotted out, given rides on Air Force One, hauled into the Senate well, and everyone is just afraid — they’re terrified of these victims.”
“I would stand in front of them and tell them, ‘go to hell,’” he added.

Then in WI, a gun nut club, that defines everything that is wrong with the "pro gun" movement is raffling off a Bushmaster AR-15 rifle, red-dot scope, and Leatherwood CMR 1-4x AR optic valued at $1242.00.

 To show that there is still humanity left in the human race, a group of national cartoonists banded together to call for sensible gun legislation!

The Real World Intervenes!

After the shootings in Sandy Hook, we know the right wing was in a tizzy to stop any kind of sensible gun regulations whatsoever.   Paid Hacks like Wiggy wrote pure NRA apologist drivel, then his less well paid echo chamber cheerleaders at Boots and Sabers threw him a big thumbs up! 

Wiggy was so ahead of the curve that he made(lame attempts at) jokes about the killings! 

While I get that these guys need to make a living, and they are immensely unqualified to do anything else, the problem with the right wing talking points, is always - reality.  In this case, more so than normal!

Veronique Pozner, the mother of the youngest victim of Sandy Hook Elementary spoke up about her son:

 The family placed stuffed animals, a blanket and letters to Noah into the casket. Lastly, Veronique put a clear plastic rock with a white angel inside — an “angel stone” — in his right hand. She asked the funeral director to place an identical one in his left, which was badly mangled. Noah’s famously long eyelashes, which she spoke about in her eulogy, rested lightly on his cheeks and a cloth covered the place where his lower jaw had been.

I wonder if James Wigderson would like to discuss with  Ms. Pozner how "doing something worse than nothing".

 Please tell me again about your rights to own guns and what the Founders felt.  

As a father of 6 year old, I can not begin to imagine the pain and grief that the Pozner family feel.  I can however share the disgust and contempt  for the people who write such BS as Wiggy and Owen(and many others) did, and put protecting their own self interests over those of the rest of America.  Especially when it effects our children and before we can even properly bury them!   All for the temporary approval of some powers that be, that hold the purse strings!
