You gotta be kidding me:
"Mumsy and Daddy said that if we have to pay our fair share of taxes, we might have to give up one of our yachts! We cannot stand for that! Jeeves, go throw your tea overboard right now! That'll show 'em."
Oh, the horrors they must be going through.

Am I being too literal, or is Kate not getting this the way we're getting this?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a difference in perspective.
ReplyDeleteY'all see the boat....I see young people getting involved, raising money, and speaking their minds. Kind of funny that y'all think it's ok to pay $28,000 to attend a fundraiser, but $150 is too much. There's a word for that, y'know.
ReplyDeleteYeah. Astroturf.
ReplyDeleteActually, I was thinking more on the line of.....hypocrisy.
ReplyDeleteYou mean like calling this a grassroots movement when this is all being done on behalf of this event's corporate sponsors, funded by their money? I got mailing after mailing or this event. Unlike our grassroots group where we all volunteer, Mark Block with Americans for Selective Prosperity is paid. And don't leave out FOX which plugged this ad nauseam.
ReplyDeleteHey Kate. I'll bou're into NACAR. Maybe the main speakers should be wearing jackets with logo patches of the corporate sponsors.
I have no idea what "NACAR" is, so I would have to say no, I'm not a fan.
ReplyDeleteYou people should really stop listening to your own propaganda. It's kind of sad. Every organizer I know, and there are quite a few across the country, are in no way, shape or form, being paid by anyone.
You should be happy that at least ONE news station is actually reporting the news.
Any similarity between Fox News and a news station is purely accidental.
ReplyDeleteFox news is a propaganda channel and nothing more.
But to the original point, I have a hard time sympathizing with people protesting having to pay taxes while they are floating on a yacht.
Kind of like a fat guy telling people that he is being starved to death.
You didn't link the site, so I'm guessing you didn't read the whole thing. $28,000 VS $150?
ReplyDeleteI'm responding in reverse order, per the way they show up in my email.
ReplyDeleteBut for that, I didn't spend $28K on both of our cars put together, and I sure as hell wouldn't spend that much on some rubber chicken.
But considering that the "fiscally responsible" Repubs will spend $100K for the same rubber chicken, I think that they are even more foolish, which is hard to do.
Either way, it doesn't change the fact that these kids appear to be the hypocrites.
Where are getting the 100K stuff?
ReplyDeleteAny political fundraiser email.
ReplyDeleteWell, y'all might get emails asking for 100K, but I've never gotten one. Hmmm....
ReplyDeleteThat's the funny thing. Like I would ever have $100K to begin with, I would hardly be likely to give it to a Republican anyway. And why do they give me their emails anyway? Do I look conservative to you?
ReplyDeleteWell, why wouldn't they? Dem...Dem Lite....same thing. And no, you don't appear to be a conservative, but then, neither are they! :/
ReplyDeleteNo matter how much you deny, they are of you.
ReplyDeletePfft! They aren't "of me". Too freakin' LIB for my taste!
ReplyDeleteYou would love my dad. He is almost as excessive as you. He stopped listening to Limbo because he was too liberal.
ReplyDeleteLMAO You were a changeling, weren't you.
ReplyDeleteMore than once, after meeting him and speaking with him at any length, people have asked why I turned out so well.
ReplyDeleteI often jest that he was the prototype for Archie Bunker, but was too racist to make it.
Well? Hmmm...now I'll leave that one alone. :P
