The Next 72 Hours Are In Your Hands!

Image result for election day vote dems wisconsin

By Jeff Simpson

72 Hours until election day, maybe the biggest election of our lifetime.

The emphasis has been put on the Hillary V Trump race and the Russ Feingold V RoJo race.   Do not get me wrong, both of them are important.  Regardless how you feel about Hillary, Donald Trump is unacceptable anyway you look at it.   As for Senator Feingold, there really is no choice when you compare, intelligence, idea, beliefs and personality.   We can finally rid our state of 6 years of one of the most ridiculous, least intelligent Senators Wisconsin has seen since McCarthy!

However, as important as the top of the ticket is, the bottom of the ballot is where you will find races that will effect your daily lives.  From public education to our roads, to jobs and our clean water and lakes.  Your everyday lives will be guided by decisions made at the Capitol.

That is why the next 72 hours are going to be so important.   Even though the opposition has a racist, misogynist, lunatic on the top of the ticket, and we are living in a state where a $3 tax cut has forced almost every public school district in the state to go to referendum to keep the doors open and the teachers paid, the Democrats prospects do not look good for Tuesday.

From new multi million dollar superPacs, to horrendous GOP candidates and buffoon on the top of the ticket, yet Hillary has a measly lead in Wisconsin.    A poor turnout or a slim win by Hillary on the top of the ticket will not bode well for our down ballot races.

With the electeds and party officials getting platforms and telling us that we can maybe win a seat or two, the Assembly Democratic Campaign Committee using their resources to run horrendous ads, and everyone that needs to be out there driving these wins focusing on Hillary, we can not rely on party leaders and electeds to help.

For Instance, there have been numerous people coming to Wisconsin to speak to rather large crowds about the importance of voting for Hillary and Russ.  While people wait hours to hear them speak, the captive audience could have listened to all of the local electeds and Democrats on the ballot speak to the crowd, yet never are people like Ryan Solen, Khary Penebraker, Jeffrey Wright, Scott Michalak, Chris Taylor, Melissa Sargent, Jonathon Brostoff, Brian Smith, etc.. are asked to speak.

Why would we pass up such an important opportunity to introduce these people to a whole new audience?

It is up to us, the calvary is not coming! The party insiders are making sure they have a job next week with someone, the consultants are doling out the same incompetent advice they always have and activists have been minimized because the party wants to reach the right of center voters(ignoring the lesson Bernie Sanders tried to teach us).

We need to be the change that we want to see, and can deal with the party later.   In these last 72 hours if you have time, pick a candidate and phone bank or do doors for them,   Give them a couple hours before the Packer game(it is at 3:00 PM).

If you are not able to do that, call your friends and family and make sure they vote down ballot.   Explain to them the importance of checks and balances on our government and why we need to flip the Senate and Assembly.   Explain that they can be disgusted with the top of the ticket but be make sure and fill in the bottom of the ticket where there will be a chance to vote out a very bad Representative and probably vote Yes for your public schools.

You will hear take 10 friends to vote but we all know that is not feasible.   Let us get real, make sure ONE friend votes who wouldn't normally vote.  See if someone needs a ride to the polls, make sure your immediately family and neighbors vote.  Send an email to your college roommate and your cousins, to make sure they vote.   Post on social media the importance of voting, the number you were when you voted(if you did not vote early) and who you support.

We have to deal for two years with the choices that are made on Tuesday, let's make sure that we make the right choices!

Our children and our state depend on us!

If you want a video that you can post on social media about the importance of voting, let me recommend this one.

VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!

By Jeff Simpson

Scott Walker in his 6 year regime, has signed or made changes to 33 different pieces of legislation aimed at making it harder for YOU to vote.

As Wisconsin's own Paul Weyrich, one of the leaders of the modern Republican party, tells us, he does not want everyone to vote.  The more of us that vote the less power he has.

However, despite all of the efforts to make it harder to vote, it is still possible and we need to show up in force.   Dane County made this video to let us know how, and were even able to secure Chad Vader as the star!

This from Andrea Kaminski, from the League of Women Voters(an organizatuion that actually WANTS you to vote)!

Get ready to vote in four big elections
Judging by the headlines, you might think the only election this year is the one that will name President Obama’s successor. In fact, Wisconsin will have four important elections in 2016:
  • In the Feb. 16 primary, voters will select the two top candidates for Wisconsin Supreme Court as well as for any local and county races with more than two contenders.
  • On April 5 we will elect the final winner for those contests and also vote for our favorite presidential candidate to be the nominee of his or her party.
  • The fall partisan primary election will be held Aug. 9 for Congress and the Wisconsin Legislature. In districts that are heavily Democratic or Republican, the primary election is particularly decisive.
  • On Nov. 8 we will elect the next president along with our state and federal representatives.
Now is the time to get ready to vote. If you have not voted in Wisconsin before, or if your registration has lapsed, you will need to register. If you have a Wisconsin driver’s license or state ID card, you will have to provide that number. You will also need proof of residence. To learn more, contact your municipal clerk or go to the Wisconsin voter information website at myvote.wi.gov.
Once you are registered, you will need a photo ID when you vote. If you have a Wisconsin driver’s license or state ID with an expiration date of Nov. 4, 2014 or later, you are all set. For a list of all acceptable IDs, talk to your clerk or go to the Wisconsin photo ID website at bringit.wi.gov. If you don’t have a photo ID, you can get one for free. Instructions are on the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin website.
If you need assistance with voter registration or photo ID, contact your local League of Women Voters or the League’s state office at 608-256-0827.
Next you’ll need to get informed. The League sends a questionnaire to federal, state as well as local candidates in some areas. We will post their answers on our elections website, VOTE411.org. In addition, some local Leagues post voter guides on their individual websites. The League does not endorse or oppose any political candidate or party. We just post candidates’ answers verbatim, so voters can make up their own minds.
There are a couple of things we urge voters not to do:
  • Don’t be discouraged if you do not currently possess an acceptable photo ID. The League, the DMV and others are happy to assist you.
  • Don’t put much stock in 30-second ads about candidates. They often present information out of context, and sometimes it’s flat-out false. Look for information from unbiased sources, or get it from the candidates themselves.
Wisconsin is known for high voter turnout, compared to other states. Even so, a relatively small number of eligible citizens vote in our elections. At the local, state and national levels, government affects many aspects of our everyday lives. Don’t let a small number of citizens choose your representatives. Take a little time now to be sure you are prepared, and then vote in every election.

Please VOTE in every election this year!!!

Voter Fraud Is A Problem!

When Republicans vote!

There has been a nationwide(Koch Brothers Sponsored)push to enact restrictive voter ID laws throughout the Country. Luckily our restrictive voter ID laws, have been stopped by the courts. Despite J B Van Hollen's insistence on disenfranchising Wisconsin voters.

Now, after an exhaustive study, we find out that the republicans perpetual claims of massive voter fraud is pure unadulterated bullshit!

voter fraud in general is rare. And that particular form of voter fraud is "virtually non-existent," according to the extensive public-records search conducted by News21, a nonpartisan investigative news project funded by the Carnegie and Knight foundations. Researchers filed more than 2,000 public-records requests and reviewed nearly 5,000 court documents, official records and media reports to get their information.

They identified 2,068 alleged cases of voter fraud since the year 2000, a period during which there have been more than 600 million votes cast in presidential elections alone. That, the study noted, is an "infinitesimal amount." It also showed a total of 10 cases of in-person voter fraud during that period.

10 cases of in-person voter fraud in more than 600 million votes cast!!!  Let that sink in.  But wait there is more!

The News21 analysis of its election fraud database shows:
  • In-person voter-impersonation fraud is rare. The database shows 207 cases of other types of fraud for every case of voter impersonation.
“The fraud that matters is the fraud that is organized. That’s why voter impersonation is practically non-existent because it is difficult to do and it is difficult to pull people into conspiracies to do it,” said Lorraine Minnite, professor of public policy and administration at Rutgers University.
  • There is more fraud in absentee ballots and voter registration than any other categories. The analysis shows 491 cases of absentee ballot fraud and 400 cases of registration fraud. A required photo ID at the polls would not have prevented these cases.
“The one issue I think is potentially important, though more or less ignored, is the overuse of absentee balloting, which provides far more opportunity for fraud and intimidation than on-site voter fraud,” said Daniel Lowenstein, a UCLA School of Law professor.
  • Of reported election-fraud allegations in the database whose resolution could be determined, 46 percent resulted in acquittals, dropped charges or decisions not to bring charges.
Minnite says prosecutions are rare. “You have to be able to show that people knew what they were doing and they knew it was wrong and they did it anyway,” she said. “It may be in the end they (prosecutors) can’t really show that the people who have cast technically illegal ballots did it on purpose.”
  • Felons or noncitizens sometimes register to vote or cast votes because they are confused about their eligibility. The database shows 74 cases of felons voting and 56 cases of noncitizens voting.
  • Voters make a lot of mistakes, from accidentally voting twice to voting in the wrong precinct.
  • Election officials make a lot of mistakes, from clerical errors — giving voters ballots when they’ve already voted — to election workers confused about voters’ eligibility requirements.
 Their final result?

Voter fraud at the polls is an insignificant aspect of American elections,” said elections expert David Schultz, professor of public policy at Hamline University School of Business in St. Paul, Minn.

“There is absolutely no evidence that (voter impersonation fraud) has affected the outcome of any election in the United States, at least any recent election in the United States,” Schultz said.
The problem with Professor Schultz, is he has not extensively studied the republican party!

Right here in Wisconsin, we know that powerful republican Robin Vos's third ex-wife, was recently caught voting in WI(during the recall election, when she was still married toVos),  despite the fact she is currently a resident of Idaho.

Secondly we have the video of Joel Kleefisch running down the line and voting for whoever is not around.

Then of course we have Mitt Romney/Paul Ryan buying votes at Cousins subs.

Let's also not forget the red state of Indiana, where Indiana Republican Secretary of State Charlie White was convicted on SIX counts of voter fraud!

White, a Republican, was accused of lying about his home address on voter registration forms in order to continue receiving a stipend for serving on his town's council. To comply with state law requiring the removal of convicted felons from office, Gov. Mitch Daniels, a fellow Republican, appointed White's deputy as an interim replacement.
The irony is that White has been an outspoken defender of controversial voter identification laws, which are purportedly aimed at stamping out the kind of fraud he was found guilty of committing.

Finally, Mitt is no stranger to voter fraud, himself.  Since he committed it himself when he voted in some Massachusett's election.

Of course while the republicans continue to pretend they are just worried about everyone's vote being counted we know that is flat out not true!

How do we know it isn't true?

They keep telling us!    From the OHIO GOP Election official Doug Preisse:

I guess I really actually feel we shouldn’t contort the voting process to accommodate the urban — read African-American — voter-turnout machine. Let’s be fair and reasonable.

To Wisconsin's own, and one of the founders of the "tea party" movement Paul Weyrich!!!

It appears the best way to save the integrity of our elections are to keep republicans away from the polls!
