EFCA Action Alert

From the inbox:
Yesterday Jim Haney, president of the big business group Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce, and today the Milwaukee Journal editorial board, laid out their objections to the Employee Free Choice Act.

As you would expect Jim Haney, no friend of unions or working people, is wrong. But surprisingly, so is the supposedly liberal Journal Sentinel editorial board.

We are encouraging you to write a letter to the editor to help “educate” our local paper about these errors and the readers. This information was put together with the help of SEIU Local 1. If you would rather not go public, consider sending a letter to the Op-Ed page editor, O. Ricardo Pimentel. Let him know you are paying attention to this issue.

To read more about the issue and to send the letter to the editor, click here.

Even if you don't plan to send a letter, it is highly recommended you read the other side of the story. If indeed the mythical media bias exists, it is clearly this time against unions and the Employee Free Choice Act, something you will be discussion in weeks to come with your friends, neighbors, opinionated relatives and co-workers.

  1. What is there to talk about? People don't want the secret ballot tossed because it removes the wall of separation between extortionist groups like employers and unions from the voter.

  2. I don't see why unions are so special where they can dismiss a democratic process of the secret ballot in order to jump start union formation. If the people really want more unions, then let them vote on it just like they vote for mayors, judges, senators, and presidents.

  3. I wish I could say I was surprised that many don't see a problem with doing away with the secret ballot, but I'm not.

  4. Stay tuned for when I have more time.

The secret ballot has already been taken.

  5. As usual the right wing does not know what it is talking about and only craps out what is fed to them. Regarding the EFCA gives it employees the choice between a secret ballot or check card.

Here is information from the other side.

This is yet more stubbornness to deny the facts. The playing field for decades has been so uneven and has resulted in a stagnant middle class. The pleasing tale about goon union bosses is embraced while the reality of goon employers is rejected.

You can't have a growing economy on Wal-Mart wages.
