But The Banker Was OK

I saw this tragic story earlier today. A five year old boy was killed when he tried to stop a cabinet from falling over while his family was moving out of their foreclosed home. The only bright side to the story was the local mortuary who will pick up the tab for the funeral.

But if you don't like to be sad, you can get ticked off with the thought that the banker who foreclosed on the home will be probably getting a nice little bonus in his Christmas stocking this year. We wouldn't want the bankers or any of the other fat cats to suffer, just because a little boy might die.

  1. Oh, what a bunch of crap. Maybe if the family paid their mortage. like when they signed the contract, they wouldn't have been in this mess. You don't know all the details but you act like a total ass with this post. Maybe the banker tried to work with the family? But the bottom line, that for whatever reason, you chose to act like a total ass and blame someone who is totally blameless.

  2. Man, if class-warfare demagoguery were an Olympic sport...

  3. Dan-

How do you know whether the bank was blameless or not?

But it does not surprise me to see that you two are OK with theft.

  4. Theft, how? And how do you know the family was not to blame? Who didn't make the payments?
Further, you certainly don't know if the bank was blameless or not.
But typical liberal mind set. Blame someone or something without getting the facts. Pathetic.
The fact is that is was a a tragic accident that you want to expolit. Again, very pathetic.

  5. Caps, little known story here. My Mom bought a house through the FHA when I was a little kid. When I was 17, the Bank foreclosed on it because mom hadn't been making the payments. It wasn't the banks fault, and they did try to work things out. So, you're wrong here blaming the bank. It's very sad that the kid got killed, but your anger is way misplaced here. What do want? For everyone who can't afford the mortgage they signed to get to keep it even though they don't hold up their end of the bargain?

  6. The banks received tons of our tax dollars to make these types of things work out, or make the best effort to do so.

You and Dan may be right that the people just didn't make any effort, then it is their bad, but there is no reason why the bank's officers should be making those kind of obscene bonuses.

  7. Two things come to mind. The banker could have kept his money instead of loaning it out in hopes of a profit and the kid would have never known what it was like to live in a house.

The banker inadvertently reduced a carbon footprint and should be commended. Maybe a Nobel Prize even though he can't be with anything.

  8. Credited with anything.

Society is in more crisis from lack of personal responsibility than evil bankers...

  9. Again, capper, ignorance or stupidity. The story doesn't name the bank, so how do you know the bank or savings and loan or credit union received bailout money? Could be a mortage company.
And how do you know if the bank officers made obscene bonuses? Again, ignornace or stupitity? Which is it? Being a liberal doesn't make you very smart, does it?

  10. One other thing. It's not the lenders fault that the little boy died.

  11. Liberal hate speech strikes capper again. That and ignorance.

  12. No Dan. Caps is is not ignorant. He's passionate. That can make us go farther than we might otherwise intend.

  13. "No Dan. Caps is is not ignorant. He's passionate. That can make us go farther than we might otherwise intend."

That needed to be said, Billiam. I don't always agree with capper but I do appreciate his courage to stand up for what he feels is right.
