The Real Rebecca Shows Up

Only 50 days from the election and Rebecca Kleefisch has come out of hiding and still has not seen her shadow. 

  Many of us political junkies woke up to Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch on Capital City Sunday and it was the most embarrassing eleven minute interview I have ever witnessed. 
Ms. Kleefisch sounded great if she was a junior telling the loca news team what great events that they had planned for homecoming week. 
Unfortunately, for the State of Wisconsin, she is one breath away from being our Governor.
That scares me.
Quick Question: When was the last time you heard anything about Rebecca Kleefisch?   
My answer:  When she held a closed door meeting with a bunch of Walker Donors and used the famous line:

“We want to know how we can love you more,” Kleefisch told the group of about 30 executives, managers, accountants and others during the 1-hour, 40-minute session.  1/3/2014 

We know from the John Doe WalkerDocs that Scott Walker had nothing but disdain for Rebecca Kleefisch when she was running in her original primary.

On March 2, 2010, Rindfleisch wrote to Keith Gilkes, who was running Walker's gubernatorial campaign: "I'm REALLY beginning to dislike [Kleefisch]."
On March 16, Rindfleisch's "dislike" had turned to disgust. She wrote to a fellow campaigner for Davis: "She makes me sick."
Gilkes himself was no fan of Kleefisch. On June 30, he wrote to Rindfleisch: "We are not touching anything to do with Kleefisch -- she is radioactive and not worth the time. Brett should work on Mayor [David] Ross and turn it into a two person race to kick her ass."
On March 15, Kathleen Kiernan, who was associated with the Davis campaign, wrote: "YUK.... I cannot see how anyone can take this woman seriously."
Another woman working on Davis' campaign wrote: "tell you what, she could be a one-woman circus that's for sure!"

OUCH.    There is a reason why Scott Walker gives her no responsibility and keeps her in hiding until election season.  He can not stand her.   Now he is wishing she was still in hiding. 

Despite the pure hatred and derision coming from the Walker crew towards her, she still is throwing the little shreds of dignity she has left, to the wind to help Scott Walker.

Yes, she does have to do what Scott Walker says, if she wants to get re-elected and continue on her taxpayer excursion of no responsibility. 

However when she is allowed out, it does not bode well for her or him in election season. 

Rebeccaforreal, really stepped in it after that, because she decided to falsely attack her opposition on the ballot - Mandela Barnes.

   GLENDALE - GOP Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch on Monday accused her opponent of kneeling during the national anthem at a public event last month but said she did not see it herself and was unable to name any witnesses who did.
Kleefisch claimed the kneeling incident happened at the opening of the Wisconsin State Fair at a ceremony Kleefisch and Barnes attended. In an interview, Barnes denied it happened and said "the whole damn program would have stopped" if he had taken a knee at the event.
"I was around so many people. I was right next to the cameras," Barnes said. "This is too stupid to respond to."

Yes it is too stupid to respond to, but Barnes did anyway, and he could not have responded any better. 

"This is like me saying my neighbors saw her buying a tiki torch at Menards," Barnes said in a text message. 

That should have been the end of it, but Rebecca has not learned the age old advice of when you are in a hole, STOP DIGGING!

Instead Kleefisch put the cherry on top of the crow she keeps eating.

But here’s the thing: the National Anthem is not like tiki torches. It’s a big deal that matters. (Just like abortions are not like tonsillectomies.)

Yes the National Anthem is the antithesis of the tiki torch.  You sure got that one right!

Now Rebecca, my neighbors told me you were buying tiki torches...is that true? 

A couple final things.  

*  If Rebecca was truly surprised at the question that Emilee Fannon asked her about Mandela, that means that she is not allowed anywhere near the strategy sessions of the "Friends of Scott Walker".  

*  Will there be a debate between the two Lieutenant Governors this time?  Rebecca Kleefisch has ducked the prior three and it is time she met Mandela Barnes in a debate for the whole state to watch.

Scott Walker's Spending Spree

End of Summer and Back To School allows way to many activities to pay attention to, so let us catch up:

We know the Assembly Democrats have decided to move on from Peter Barca as their leader.    The Governor, who perpetually puts politics over everything, find time from his incredibly busy schedule (sarcasm alert), to let everyone know how much he loves Peter Barca:

Yes Scott Walker, who once rescinded an appointment of a college kid to the Students Board of Regents because he found out that he signed the recall.    Scott Walker is the same Governor, who sent thousands of jobs to Illinois, along with $50 million of our taxpayer dollars before he even took office.

Yes this is the positive vision Scotty Walker:

Nothing more positive about the future than comparing a bunch of teachers, nurses, police, fire, etc... walking around the Capitol to the number one terrorists organization in the world.   Lombardi he isn't!

About those good paying, family supporting jobs.  Now that the legislature has agreed to give them $3 billion dollars to come here, who gets the first (and maybe the only) good paying job from this fiasco?  

Keith Gilkes of course! 

MADISON, Wis. — Any doubt campaign politics is the driving force behind Gov. Scott Walker gambling $3 billion on a subsidy for Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn has been dispelled by the creation of a single job. According to a report from Wispolitics.com, the lobbying firm hired by Foxconn has brought on Keith Gilkes, Walker’s longtime campaign manager and the head of the Unintimidated PAC that supported his presidential ambitions, to do “public affairs and communications.”

While Gilkes is knee deep in pretty much every walker scandal, including Walker Gate and the John Doe investigation, my favorite story about Gilkes involves the O'Donnell Park tragedy.  At O'Donnell park, on the opening of summerfest, the Milwaukee County infrastructure under Milwaukee County Exec Scott Walker, crumbled.  It not only crumbled, but it fell on and killed a teenager, right in front of his parents.  

While the dust was still settling on the crumbled parking structure, Keith Gilkes sprung into action:

Gilkes, in an email written the day of the accident, advised Walker's county staff to "make sure there is not a piece of paper anywhere that details any problem at all." News organizations and lawyers representing victims and others filed numerous open record requests after the O'Donnell Park accident for inspection reports and other documents on its construction.

In the wake of an incredible tragedy, Gilkes did what almost no one else would do.  His first thought was, we need to shield Scott Walker's career from this.  So glad that he found a way to capitalize on our tax dollars some more!

But Wait there is more!

Scott Walker released his budget earlier this year, and in his budget, he forgot to include millions of dollars to upgrade Wisconsin Rapid's Alexander Field Airport, so billionaires can fly their private planes into the airport and golf at the Sand Valley Golf Resort.  

So the owner of the resort, Michael Keiser, donated $25,000 to the Republican Party of WI and another $65,000 to Scott Walker and incredibly coincidentally, $4 million dollars of upgrades to Alexander Field magically appeared in the budget.  

We know that there was absolutely NO quid pro quo on this airport deal because Scott Krug told us so:

Republican state Rep. Scott Krug, who is not on the budget committee but whose legislative district includes the golf course, said the donations don’t have anything to do with the airport project getting funded.
Krug said Keiser’s donations were to support Republicans who were doing good things for the Wisconsin economy, not to win approval of the airport funding.

If you can not believe Scott Krug, who can you believe?

One last note about Foxconn.  When The Governor offered the company that showed profits of $149 Billion dollars last year, $3 Billion dollars of our money to possibly relocate in Wisconsin, he wrote the agreement on a Post It note and signed it like it was actually binding!

Walker Caught In Another Lie

Capper covered the initial leak of the new #Walkerdocs very well, but I wanted to point your attention
to something else buried in there.

First let us take a trip down memory lane where Gov Walker was asked about the Milwaukee Brewers Ryan Braun:

 Walker said he and his two sons, Matt and Alex, all big Brewers' fans, were disappointed and angry "that he lied to us as fans."
In a telephone interview Tuesday, the GOP governor said that "it was bad enough that he broke the rules, but the fact that he didn't immediately fess up to it, that he dragged it all out...It's not just what he did, it's that he strung us out for so long."
The governor said forgiveness from fans wouldn't come quickly for Braun.
"I think it'll be a long time," Walker said.

Speaking of "not immediately fessing up to it".  In August of 2014, Scott Walker was asked outright if he helped Club for Growth raise any money:

Gov. Scott Walker said Saturday that he played no role in soliciting cash from a mining company for the Wisconsin Club for Growth during the 2011 and 2012 recall elections, adding that no one should be surprised that the pro-business governor backed legislation helpful to the firm.
 Asked whether he was aware that Gogebic Taconite secretly donated $700,000 to Wisconsin Club for Growth — a pro-business advocacy group directed by the governor's campaign adviser — Walker said, "Not to my knowledge."
 When asked if the previously undisclosed funds and subsequent legislation were part of some pay-to-play scheme, Walker said, "That's a ridiculous argument."

Now, thanks to the Guardian article, we know that he was absolutely lying and he "strung us out for so long".



All the positive and negative ads running were due to Scott Walker raising money through "the club".

I wonder how long it will be before the fans forgive Scott Walker for lying?

PS:  In case you are wondering you did read that email correctly.  R J Johnson sent it to Keith Gilkes to tell Scott Fitzgerald to stop whining about the recall and how much money they were giving him.   It is not cheap trying to keep many people happy and win your election.

It is funny because the last email I receved from Scott Walker, actually came from one of his henchmen Keith Gilkes.  If you do not know who Keith Gilkes is, he is former Walker campaign worker who helped run Milwaukee County when Scott Walker was county exec.  Gilkes became famous when a Milwaukee County parking structure collapsed and tragically killed a teenager in front of his family, his first reaction was we need to protect Scott Walker politically.  

Now Gilkes is doing the panhandling for Scott Walker:

In case you missed it, I am forwarding Governor Walker’s recent email to you because I believe in him so much.

As you may recall, I was his campaign manager when he ran for Governor in 2010 and we pulled off a big victory in a blue state. 
And I was by his side as his Chief of Staff when he launched the most historic and far-reaching reforms of any Governor in modern history. Back in 2011, our rivals smirked that we had zero chance of success and there would be hell to pay if we tried.

I went back to run his recall election campaign in 2012, and although our opponents spent tens of millions of dollars and the Big Government Labor Bosses did their dirty work, Governor Walker won again. 
What our rivals don’t understand about Governor Scott Walker is that he is a driven, movement conservative who never quits. They underestimate him. Just as Governor Walker is convinced America’s best days are ahead, I am convinced that his best days as a conservative leader are ahead of him.

Scott Walker would prefer you pay his bills so he doesn't have too.   Heck you deserve an award if you can blow $7 Million dollars in 71 days!  

Wonder what is next for Scott Walker?  An e-mail begging wisconsinites to pay for his kids college tuition?  We all remember that he has asked for your kids Christmas money, so anything is possible.

Scott Walker's Priorities

Wild Bill Kramer, republican leader from Waukesha, was in court yesterday and pleaded "not guilty".   His Lawyer also let it be known that he would be attacking the victim publicly.  

We also know, thanks to police reports, that the republican leadership and our own US Senator Ron Johnson knew that Bill Kramer was a menace to women and their response was to keep quiet and tell no one.   This, of course, led to more women becoming victims and Bill Kramer becoming a rising star in the republican party!  

While not in the best interests of the people of WI, it was in the best interest of the republican party so they did nothing, even though they had an alleged predator in their midst! 

Now let's compare the scenario from the other side.  

While Milwaukee County Executive, Scott Walker and his county staff, freely shared names and details of a developmentally disabled sexual assault victim with his campaign staff.  

While Scott Walker was Milwaukee County executive, his staff freely shared the name of a sexual assault victim and details about her case with political operatives, recently released emails show.

The revelation comes as the governor has authorized a probe to determine whether a state disability rights organization violated patient confidentiality rules in its report on four deaths at the Milwaukee County Mental Health Complex.

Kelly Rindfleisch, Walker's deputy chief of staff at the county, sent copies of an Aug. 19, 2010, email to Walker and his chief political consultants, RJ Johnson and Keith Gilke.

The email included the name of a developmentally disabled woman who became pregnant after having sex with another patient at the complex. She included a second email from a lawyer representing the county marked: "Confidential Attorney Client Information."

The gubernatorial election was less than three months away, and the problems at the complex were proving problematic to Walker's candidacy.

When JSonline asked for specifics of the case, they were shut down(emphasis mine):

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel had written an email the day before to administrators at the Behavioral Health Division and to Mark Cameli, a private lawyer hired to defend the county. The email sought comment for a story about the case, noting that the woman would not be named.

The man who had sex with her had been charged with sexual assault, and the woman's guardians had told the Journal Sentinel that they had not been informed of the pregnancy for weeks after it was confirmed. The guardians complained of other errors with the woman's case, including that she continued taking heavily sedating psychotropic drugs found to be harmful to developing fetuses.

Cameli wrote a draft of a reply to the reporters' request and sent a copy to John Chianeli, then the director of the Behavioral Health Division, and Geri Lyday and Joan Hansen, county administrators, for their input. In the draft, Cameli explained to the reporters that the county could not reply to specifics of the case.

"They and I are bound by laws and regulations governing, among other things, the confidentiality of certain information," Cameli said. "What should we do? Should we disregard the rights of patients? The legal and ethical obligations imposed upon us?"

Then something interesting happened(emphasis mine):

Lyday then sent Cameli's reply to Rindfleisch, who forwarded it to her personal email account. From there, Rindfleisch sent the email — including the patient's name — to Walker and his political advisers to see if the lawyer's reply met with their approval.

"I wanted you to give it the OK to sign off on it," Rindfleisch wrote to Walker and his campaign advisers.

The next day, Cameli sent his response to the Journal Sentinel.

"Please — please consult with someone familiar with the laws and regulations governing the disclosure of the information you seek," Cameli wrote then.

 Does anyone read the employee handbook anymore?  I guess ethics and morals get thrown out the window when there is an election to win.  


 

We know the priorities of Scott Walker and his party.

 Win the election at all costs! 

Now You Know Scott Walker Is In Trouble

Via digby, we see an excerpt of Scott Walker's appearance on Faux Newz.

One would think that it would be a snap for Walker, with the hosts fawning all over him and only giving him softball questions so he can trot out his campaign talking points.  Instead, Chris Wallace asked Walker some basic questions regarding the emails that came out last week.  Watch as Walker starts getting histrionic and actually lashes out in anger:



You can tell Walker is flustered by the way he is yammering and his voice is breaking. Many people from both sides of the political aisle have complemented Walker on his political savvy and his smooth talking.  However, those of us that have had to deal with Walker for over a decade know that he is rather flappable once he is knocked off his script and his talking points.

It should be noted that Walker did try to stick to his script by repeatedly emphasizing that Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm is a Democrat and that John Doe ended last year.  What he doesn't mention - nor does Faux Newz mention - that thee is a second series of John Does going on and that there are both Democratic and Republican district attorneys that requested these investigations.

As expected, Walker then tried to deflect the question by moving the focus to his false claims of success.  He trotted out the same tired, threadbare stories of balancing the budget, finding a surplus or creating more than 100,000 jobs.  But when this didn't work for even on a toady like Wallace, you could see the panic rise in Walker.

But of all the lies that Walker told in that short time, the one that really made my jaw drop is the one where he said that he did not have any of the staff from the Walkergate documents working for him.  What utter rubbish!

Just take a look at some of the people that were named in those documents and where they went after the election:

• Tom Nardelli - Walker's former chief of staff was not only given a state job but then a handsome promotion before the pressure got to him and he skulked off, hoping not to be noticed.
• Cindy Archer - Walker's Director of Administration is still working for Walker.  Although he has tried to distance himself from her, he still makes sure that she is well rewarded
• Brett Davis - Lest the gentle reader forgets, at the time of the emails, Kelly Rindlfeisch was working for Davis, whom Walker had chosen to be his lieutenant governor.  Davis is now Walker's Medicaid director.
• Keith Gilkes - After the election, Gilkes worked for Walker as his chief of staff and as his chief of graft before leaving to once again take over Walker's campaign.

Now, I can just hear the Walker apologists and trolls say, "But, capper, those people weren't convicted. Walker was only talking about the convicted people."

OK, fine.  

I would then point out Brian Pierick, Tim Russell's significant other, who was convicted for going after teenage boys.  He worked for the state even though he was under investigation.

And then there was the center of attention, Kelly Rindfleisch.  Even after her office and her home had been raided by the police, Rindlfeisch continued to work for Walker's campaign.  And if she wasn't working for Walker directly, he and Gilkes were pulling in favors to get her some income, or as most people call it, hush money.

As an added bonus, make sure you watch the video all the way to the end.  When Wallace starts talking about Walker running a presidential campaign, Walker finally stops falling over his tongue and starts talking like it's a given he's running for president, despite all of his denials to the local press.   

He was happy because he was able to get back on script.

Kelly Rindfleisch Was Right!

While Capper weighed in this morning with his take, I needed to also post on these flurry of emails.   After reading some, and going through others, and watching the news stories, and reading comments, etc..  I have come to realize that Kelly Rindfleisch, as despicable of a human being as she is, is right!  

No One Cares...

Let's look at a couple examples....

• “No one cares about crazy people,” aide Kelly Rindfleisch wrote in response to an email about criticism Walker was facing from his political opponent, Tom Barrett, over problems at Milwaukee County’s mental health center.
• An email from Kelly Teelin, a paralegal at GOP go-to law firm Michael Best & Friedrich, forwarded a joke email picturing four dogs the writer said were set to receive public assistance because they “are mixed in color, unemployed, lazy, can’t speak English and have no frigging clue who their Daddys are.”
“That is hilarious. And so true!” Rindfleisch replied.
• Walker’s top aide in the county executive’s office, Tom Nardelli, forwarded a message in brightly colored lettering about the “nightmare” of waking up “black, Jewish, gay with a Mexican boyfriend, drug addict and HIV-positive” — and a Democrat.

 And:

 The night that a concrete slab at a Milwaukee County parking structure collapsed, killing a 15-year-old boy, Nardelli emailed Walker and copied Gilkes, Rindfleisch and Archer about a reporter asking about an audit showing deferred maintenance on the structure.
Gilkes responded: “We need to have that pinpointed in the audit. … This is what the press will focus on exclusively tomorrow — we will need to fully refute it with all documentation possible on it.”
Walker responded: “Yes.”

The Walker team looked at rape in a county facility, and the crushing to death of a 15 year old boy, not as tragedies, but as a pain in the ass to the Walker's political ambitions.   I used to be outraged at this (see here) but now I realize they were right.  

Since the horrible death of a 15 year old boy and a rape at a poorly run mental health care facility failed to move the needle in Scott Walker's campaign at all while it happened, I do not expect it to do so now. 

We have thousands of pages of proof that Scott Walker and his staff knowingly broke the law, that Scott Walker was in on it the whole time, the disdain they have for anyone who is not or can not help them gain a political advantage and as a team their only objective, no matter who they were working for, was to make Scott Walker look good(no easy task). 

Yet I doubt he has even dropped a point in the polls.   How does a free society that values democracy and Honors our Forefathers and Founders, and goes to Church on Sunday, think that the Scott Walker we met yesterday is ok? 

Is It Wrong That I'm Smiling?

"Today we must make a pact with each other to end this reckless conduct with the people's government." New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. 

 In case you have not seen, New Jersey republican Governor Chris Christie is knee deep in a scandal!  

The George Washington Bridge is among the world's busiest, carrying some 300,000 vehicles on a typical day. The abrupt and unexpected lane closures, which lasted four days in September, badly snarled traffic in the borough of Fort Lee at the New Jersey end of the bridge.
Critics say the shutdown was retribution against the Democratic mayor of Fort Lee, who did not endorse the governor's re-election efforts. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which oversees the bridge, said it was the result of a last-minute traffic study.

The problem for Christie?  As the emails clearly show from Christie's top staffers. the facts say it was shut down for retribution and there was no "traffic study": 

"Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee," his aide, Bridget Anne Kelly, wrote to a Port Authority executive in August.
The executive, David Wildstein, replied in an email: "Got it."
The emails do not give a specific reason for the closings, which left furious commuters trapped in traffic jams for hours. The closings began on the first day of school in Fort Lee.
In another message sent amid the gridlock, an unidentified author wrote: "Is it wrong that I'm smiling," and Wildstein responded: "No."

 As we say here, but wait there's more!  Is it wrong that your smiling?  well someone actually died because of your political maneuver, so yes it actually is!

A local New Jersey paper reported that, as a result of the lane closures, emergency responders were delayed in attending to four medical situations. One involved an unconscious 91-year-old woman who later died of cardiac arrest and another a car accident in which four people were injured.

Well whats a few deaths if it means advancing his political career right?

What does the tough talking Governor have to say?  Exactly what you thought he would say.  

It wasn't him.  

 “What I've seen today for the first time is unacceptable," Christie said. "I am outraged and deeply saddened to learn that not only was I misled by a member of my staff, but this completely inappropriate and unsanctioned conduct was made without my knowledge."

Now where have I heard that before?  

The Republican strategy seems to be, anything at all good that happens in the state is their accomplishment and anything bad that happens within their office  - Instant Sgt. Schultz!  

Today, Chris Christie will hold a press conference where he will parade some staffers out to throw under the bus, then he will turn his attention on the real problem with America and yell at a female teacher to do her job!   Then he will hop on the state run helicopter to head to his son's baseball game!

God Works in Mysterious Ways

That saying has never been more relevant than current day Wisconsin.  

Apparently, God has been having chats with our very own Scott Walker.    When Scott Walker took the phone call from (who he thought/hoped and prayed was David Koch), Scott Walker opened up like he never has before.  When your talking to your boss, its best to be honest and Scott finally was.  Walker let the fake Koch, know plenty but the biggest gem was that Scott Walker "had thought about" adding violence to what was an incredibly peaceful protest.  

Koch: We’ll back you any way we can. What we were thinking about the crowd was, uh, was planting some troublemakers.
Walker: You know, well, the only problem with that —because we thought about that. The problem—the, my only gut reaction to that is right now the lawmakers I’ve talked to have just completely had it with them, the public is not really fond of this…[explains that planting troublemakers may not work.] My only fear would be if there’s a ruckus caused is that maybe the governor has to settle to solve all these problems…[something about '60s liberals.]…Let ‘em protest all they want…Sooner or later the media stops finding it interesting.

We thought about that but we figured it would not help us politically so we passed. 

Well when planning violence against women and children, Scott Walker turned to the  person most people do in these situations.   Jesus the ultimate violent/political tactition:

 “I looked up and said, ‘I hear you, Lord,’” writes Walker. “God was sending me a clear message to not do things for personal glory or fame. It was a turning point that helped me in future challenges, helped me stay focused on the people I was elected to serve, and reminded me of God’s abundant grace and the paramount need to stay humble.”

Yes dear Servant do not attack women and children for personal glory and fame.....stay your veer humble self, was the message that Jesus sent!  

Hallelujah!  

Yes it is hard for some who is perfect in every way, like Scott Walker to be humble!  Luckily he has a pipeline to God to keep reminding him to be so.  

Let's hope that God calls Scott Walker in a John Denver Oh, God! kind of way and not in a BTK killer fashion!    Maybe its time we take a lesson from 70's Movie and lock all of these politicians who talk to God and have them answer some questions:

The question I want the Scott Walker / Jesus team to answer is:  Why did God direct you to cover up the death of 15 year old Jared Kellner? 

Governor Walker is Special

I remember hearing the story of how infrastructure in Milwaukee fell on a 15 year old boy and killed him in front of his family.   I remember thinking what I always think when I hear stories of children dieing(especially as a father) of how horrible that would be and how I can not even imagine having to bury one of my children.    Which, I would assume, is the first thought of most people.  With some notable exceptions!

Their first thought was - what can we do to minimize the damage to our campaign and political future.  

Walker's top aide and great friend Tim Russell was extremely worried as to Scott Walker's location when the tragedy happened:

 [Former Walker aide Tim] Russell asked the email chain where Walker was following the incident, warning “Scott cannot be at a fundraiser or something like that. He’ll be eaten alive.”

 Fortunately, the Walker campaigned dodged a bullet and Scott Walker was surprisingly NOT at a fundraiser and was able to go start doing campaign damage control within the hour:

Walker's cellphone battery had died; within an hour, Gilkes assured Russell and others that Walker had arrived at the accident scene.

"He needs to lead and be on top of the entire situation," Gilkes reported. "ALL of us need to back him up and ensure he is on top of the entire situation — Scott needs to be front and center for the media.

At least Scott Walker was alive unlike Jared Kellner who was the victim of Walker's lack of interest in actually governing.   

 Yesterday a 30 foot wide concrete wall fell from the County parking garage near Summerfest, fatally injuring a 15 year old boy and injuring two others. This was a case where a death could have been avoided had Walker paid more attention to governing, and less attention to politicking.

The parking garage under O’Donnell park has had structural problems for years — almost since the day it was built. Past County Executives have dedicated sufficient funds to maintain the structure and assure safety for the public. Sadly, O’Donnell Park was named after former County Executive Bill O’Donnell who did pay attention to County infrastructure and yes, he did raise taxes to pay for County needs and ensure public safety. It has always struck me as being an unfitting memorial to name an ailing parking garage after a former giant in County politics.

Walker has chosen to neglect the garage infrastructure to save money so he can position himself as champion of the taxpayer for his run for Governor. Of course Walker had to use this tragedy as an opportunity to grab a little media attention for himself. In an interview near the O’Donnell parking garage Walker said, “For me, personally, obviously it rips my heart out”… For a man who has built his career on doing as little as possible to keep government providing services and infrastructure, his claim that it “rips my heart out” rings hollow. With chunks of concrete falling from other County buildings and with neglected maintenance needs, this tragedy was entirely predictable.

Tonight there are two parents who have lost a son because Walker has decided that politics is more important than safety.

Scott Walker made this a campaign issue before the body was cold, as he had his campaign staff take over the PR, so much so that the actual Milwaukee County Chief of Staff, that was paid by the taxpayers, to actually handle situations like this, had to re-introduce himself to the campaign staff(in a series of private email conversations). 

Earlier this year, Walker's spokesman emphasized that most of the contact between Walker's top campaign and county aides dealt with "routine" matters.
In the new emails, Gilkes is often directing Walker's county staff on what to do.
Tom Nardelli, Walker's county chief of staff, became so frustrated that he wrote to Walker and his top county aides on July 8, 2010, and felt compelled to remind them that he was still chief of staff.
“Just in case anyone cares what I think as COS, let me assure you all that Open Records Requests will be handled as they have always been handled: Timely, courteously and with the detail Corporation Counsel requires both upon receipt and upon release.”
“Any questions?” Nardelli wrote. "Direct them to me in this office only!”
He signed the email: "Tom Nardelli, Chief of Staff (remember?)."

To late Keith Gilkes was running the show and readers of our blog know who Keith Gilkes is.   Gilkes is the person who runs from the press and his one claim to fame, is that he ORDERED everyone on Walkers staff to delete anything that might make Scott Walker look bad in the wake of the death of a 15 year old child.  

See these "special people" never ever asknowledged that a 15 year child died,  They did not acknowledge that a human being was dead, crushed in front of his parents, and he did not have to be.  It was Scott Walker that they wanted to make sure went unscathed, everyone else is collateral damage.  What is the life of a 15 year old when we are talking an ascendency to the Presidency here.    

Walker when asked softballs about the revelations that we actually have on paper says :

 "In the midst of the campaign, I didn't want that very tragic situation to evolve into a political issue," Walker said.

That would be like an alcoholic drinking because he does not want to be tempted to drink.  His campaign staff was leaping into action before the family could even be notified so that excuse is weak.   We can however take Walker's word that his campaign staff does not run the state the way they ran the county.

  In his press briefing, Walker said he does not let his current campaign team call the shots for his gubernatorial staff on state issues.

 I mean if Scott Walker says it, it has to be true...right?

Another interesting tidbit that came out of these emails, is that they knew that they had an ace in the hole.  they knew that Journal Sentinel reporter Jesse Garza, would  help Scott Walker get "good ink".  

In another email, Russell wrote Journal Sentinel reporter Jesse Garza had gotten a message to him that he was willing to help Walker get “good ink” if the county exec wanted to speak with the reporter.

It takes a very special person to hear about the tragic death of a 15 year old, and your first thought is "how will this effect my campaign".   

Scott Walker and his staff are very special. 

His father must be so ashamed.
