I did not go to the rally, but many of my friends did. I'm sure that the Cheddarsphere will be full of pictures of the events, as Facebook already is. I will add to that by posting some pictures that two of my dearest friends took whilst they attended the rally.

Scenes From A Real Rally
So, there was this rally today in Madison. Not one of those rallies like the Walker supporters have, where dozens of people equal three thousand. This was a run of the mill Reclaiming Wisconsin rally, where tens of thousands of people are the norm.
I did not go to the rally, but many of my friends did. I'm sure that the Cheddarsphere will be full of pictures of the events, as Facebook already is. I will add to that by posting some pictures that two of my dearest friends took whilst they attended the rally.

I wonder what this tantrum is going to cost the good taxpayers of Wisconsin? Last year's bill was astronomical, albeit a bit exagerated.
ReplyDeletep.s. I travel Wisconsin regularly and have seen thousands of, "I stand with Walker" signs outside of Dane and Milwaukee counties.
Progress is underway...
It is the name-calling whiny conservative posts like the one above that really do get people fired up and on-board with Walker. These conservatives are so worried about their individuality and these worthless comments (above) really show their selfish nature by tossing out the "cost" factor.
DeleteOf course, the above comment poster should really be concerned with the cost of everything. Like voting. I mean, there's elections every year, and this is going to "cost" you all!
In fact, while I'm here, I propose that the Wisconsin Republican party introduce a bill doing away with ALL public-everything and anything.
We should bring back a King! For as humble servant laborers, we should bow to King Walker of Wisconsin!
In fact, where is King Walker now? I hope he can help Annie George get out of trouble with that pesky Federal government when he becomes Emperor of the United States:

Oooohhh, I can feel the anger. I do think that if the republican government survives the recall effort, and judicial onslaught that they should visit the recall laws and change them a bit. That could save us all some election money.
DeleteThere were more exaggerations in that comment than your typical Newt Gingrich stump speech. Keep it up! You're on a roll!
DeleteThe price of the recall is miniscule when compared to the cost of letting this regime continued unchecked.
DeleteSo, Imustberacist, you would trade in your freedoms for a few pennies? So be it. The rest of us want to be a free people.
Wonderful upbeat rally, and to the 124 comment, rallies are allowed. Nice that you have signs,so do we, so what?
ReplyDeleteHey Fundamentalists: More Fun, Less Mental please.
ReplyDeleteRepublicans decry the push back to their ideologically-driven agenda to destroy unions, defund BadgerCare, devastate public school budgets in favor of private voucher schools, and thwart healthcare reform by refusing to implement critical elements of the Affordable Care Act. But push-back is what happens when politicians lie and cheat their way into office to force their agenda, which lacks popular consensus, down the collective throat of the electorate by means of backroom machinations done in the dark of night, in blatant disregard for the law.
ReplyDeletePrincipled people should reject that kind of behavior by any politician or group. Ends do not justify the means.
Yes, elections have consequences. But deceptions have consequences, too. Yesterday's pep rally was a celebration of not only our right to hold elected officials accountable -- but our ability to actually go out and do it.
Thanks for posting these pictures. I saw some of these signs yesterday, but I couldn't see the whole crowd, and these pictures show some clever signs that I missed.
ReplyDeleteTo the folks concerned about the cost of rally clean-up and recall elections, were you concerned about the cost of the corporate tax giveaways that Walker pushed through in January 2011? Funny, I don't remember you "fiscal conservatives" complaining about that at the time.
No, didnt complain. Its not as if democrats dont hand out corporate welfare as well: http://www.bizjournals.com/milwaukee/news/2012/02/15/kohls-hq-not-moving-downtown.html Or at least try to. I wish I knew if Barret promised to extend the trolley to the new kohls headquarters!
DeleteLaughable to hear the anonymous troll shooting his yap off at 1:24am. I travel the state a decent amount, and what you see outside of Madison is not a lot of support for either side, except for scattered signs for or against. And that's in major contrast to October 2010, when you saw GOP signs everywhere. If Walker has support across the state, people are embarrassed to show it. Like most Walker supporters, you are talking out your ass, and know your boy's in big trouble (both with the law, and with the voters)
ReplyDeleteNow compare that reactions to the more than a million that want him gone, and that's why 60,000+ of my brothers and sisters were loud and proud yesterday. Many more of us will stay that way for the next 93 days to drive these rats out of office, and into this state's great lakes, where they belong.
your numbers are optimistic at best. But we will see.
