Crowder soon filed a police report following the December 11 incident.
But the county prosecutor, Stuart Dunnings III, has now said that he will refuse to prosecute.
Dunning explained that he viewed an unedited clip of the same situation
— captured by The Young Turks — and that it clearly shows that the
protester who threw the punch was first pushed down, and that it appears
that he was simply acting in self defense against a larger crowd that
first attacked him.
“I’m not holding that against him, but why would they provide the edited
video? The longer video clearly shows the guy got pushed down and came
up swinging,” said Billings.
Why Indeed?
Waiting for Fox News to end their relationship with Mr. Crowder, do not hold your breath!
Right before the Holidays in Michigan, a bunch of lame duck republicans forced through a "right-to-work" law. Despite campaigning against it and the thousands of protestors who showed up to voice their objections, Governor Rick Snyder signed the bill into law.
“This is about more and better jobs coming to Michigan because a lot of
companies do look at this as a major factor in their analysis. We’ll
then be more competitive as a state and that’s good for all of us. It’s
good for workers and good for unions, because it gives them more of an
opportunity to grow themselves,” Snyder said.
However less than 6 weeks after signing the RTW law, Snyder is now changing his tune. Asking the people who he just forced a bevy of crazy right wing big government screw the middle class bills, to stop thinking about the past 6 weeks and give him a clean slate and pretend December 2012 never happened!
“Over 90 percent of the jobs that you’re looking at aren’t going to
be in a situation where right to work is even relevant,” Snyder said in
the hotel’s Ambassador Ballroom. “Let’s keep in mind what the economy is
really about. Why not embrace the great things going on and be more positive?
“Let’s not live in the Michigan of the past where we fought. Let’s
learn from it and recognize that we’re in the Michigan of 2013, but
let’s be planning for the Michigan of 2025 and a great place for all of
these young people.”
Snyder just wants all of MI to live in a peaceful bipartisan way(now that the crazy is out) but let us hope the voters/taxpayers of MI never forget what Snyder's brand of crazy has brought them!
Now lets take a break from the heavy editing of Fox news and bring you what happened in the real world!
Yes that is the bright young hands of Fox News superstar Steven Crowder shoving that man to the ground first who then gets up and pummels Crowder. He and Hannity "forgot" to include that part in their video.
Turns out we see who the real thugs are - the right hit squad who will do anything they can to change the debate from the issues to what they pretend is happening on the left!
Americans for Prosperity (AFP) has released an entertaining computer game called Lame Duck Hunt based
on the old-school Nintendo ‘Duck Hunt’ game to inform the public about
the bad economic policies retiring and defeated members of Congress
could push through in December, the final month of the 112th Congress.
Yet a bunch of right wing extremist republicans, who were voted out already, have decided to use the lame duck Michigan legislature to ram through Right to Work for less legislation IN an hour and half discussion. Of course if this was a bill that actually helped the people of MI, AFP would be besides themselves upset, instead they celebrate. This bill brought such incredibly anti democratic thug tactics to the Michigan Capitol as
This is how republicans ram through bills in America these days(h/t Randy Bryce for the pic).
All of this politics going on that would make Fidel Castro and Joseph Stalin proud also appeals to Americans for Prosperity so much they set up tents to party! The problem is they did not use Union Labor to put them up correctly.
Luckily, most people who are paying attention, know that when the republicans cry wolf, there is usually not a wolf in sight! Thanks to Capper for this catch!
Now we will see if the Wisconsin republican minority in the legislature wants to "out right wing", or if they will slow their take down the Wisconsin middle class agenda.
While
supporters of the bill say it will make for a fairer workplace by
making union fees voluntary for non-union workers, Greimel told MSNBC
host Chris Jansing that such dues are already voluntary, alluding to
provisions in the National Labor Relations Act
saying that non-union members who are covered by a collective barganing
agreement either join a union or pay what’s called an “agency fee.”
“What this law would do is, it would allow those who benefit from a
collective bargaining agreement to avoid paying their fair share,”
Greimel said. “That’s why I don’t call it this ‘right-to-work,’ I call
it a freedom to freeload law.”
On this blog you will never find us say all democrats are good, we have pointed out the flaws of many in the Democratic party,(even if it doesn't happen to the extreme or regularity of the republican party).
However I especially like to point out quality politicians since they are so rare.
Children no longer are considered a deduction for tax purposes in Michigan, but some lawmakers think fetuses should be.
The state legislature currently is considering two bills that would create a tax credit for unborn fetuses that are 12 weeks or older. If the proposal becomes law, it would make Michigan the first state in the country to grant such status to the unborn.
Opponents of the measures claim the tax credit is just a sneaky way for abortion foes to establish a form of “personhood” for fetuses and eventually restrict women from getting abortions.
Republican Representative Jud Gilbert, one of the main sponsors of the fetus tax credit plan, said supporters merely want to help mothers with their taxes.
“You’re recognizing the fact that people have additional expenses, another person to take care of,” Gilbert told MLive. “Money saved there could be contributed to doctor's bills and all kinds of things.”
The proposal runs contrary to legislation adopted last year that eliminated a child tax credit deduction that affected 2.35 million children in Michigan.
In short, according to the Michigan Republicans, having a baby is expensive, but once the child is born, they are completely self-sufficient and/or cost free.
And to make this story complete, this is almost mandatory:
One thing that I believe that the Wisconsin protests have brought us is the ability of common people to come together in solidarity and protest when the time is right. It was right in Wisconsin last year and it was right in Michigan this week. As the movie said, screw over the American people and they will come. In Michigan in came Eve Ensler!
To fight back against being silenced for saying “vagina” during the debate, Brown participated in a reading of “The Vagina Monologues” at the Michigan capitol yesterday along with Byrum and Eve Ensler, who wrote the play. An estimated 5,000 people gathered for the reading.
After the Vagina Monologues were completed Eve Ensler gave a quick speech:
When Mitt Romney was a college freshman, he told fellow residents of
his Stanford University dormitory that he sometimes disguised himself as
a police officer -- a crime in many states, including Michigan and
California, where he then lived. And he had the uniform on display as
proof.
So recalls Robin Madden, who had also just arrived as a freshman, the
startling incident began when Romney called him and two or three other
residents into his room, saying, "Come up, I want to show you
something." When they entered Romney's room, "and laid out on his bed
was a Michigan State Trooper's uniform."
Madden, a native Texan who graduated from Stanford in 1970 and went
on to become a successful television producer and writer, has never
forgotten that strange moment, which he has recounted to friends over
the years as he observed his former classmate's political ascent. The
National Memo learned of the incident from a longtime Madden friend to
whom he had mentioned it years ago.
Said Madden in a recent interview, "He told us that he had gotten the
uniform from his father," George Romney, then the governor of Michigan,
whose security detail was staffed by uniformed troopers. "He told us
that he was using it to pull over drivers on the road. He also had a red
flashing light that he would attach to the top of his white Rambler."
In Madden's recollection, confirmed by his wife Susan, who also
attended Stanford during those years, "we thought it was all pretty
weird. We all thought, 'Wow, that's pretty creepy.' And after that, we
didn't have much interaction with him," although both Madden and Romney
were prep school boys living in the same dorm, called Rinconada.
Other eyewitnesses have previously recalled Romney's alleged use of a
police or trooper uniform in pranks during his high school years at the
exclusive Cranbrook School in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
Phillip Maxwell, a prep school buddy, told the New Republic in 2008
that Romney had pulled over students from a girls school next door to
Cranbrook while wearing a police uniform as a prank. Other former
classmates described Mitt as a "happy-go-lucky guy known less for his
achievements and more for his pranks."
Yes laugh a minute Mitt, got his kicks out of impersonating a police officer and "creeping" out his friends. What a guy! Although I do not know why anyone would be surprised by this story, he has been impersonating a serious presidential candidate for over 6 years now!!
