Addressing Trump’s controversial past statements about women, Baker writes, “Houston, we have a problem.”
“Candidates shouldn’t go near this ground other than to say that your wife or daughter is offended by what Trump said,” Baker adds. “We do not want to re-engage the ‘war on women’ fight.”

Now Jeb Bush throws red meat to the base by saying he is going to "whup" Hillary(who is not even the Dem nominee yet).

GOP Brings HIV To IN, WI Next!

Republican test kitchen, Indiana has already been working to defund Planned Parenthood.   They passed a law that defunded Planned Parenthood, because some of them offered abortion services.

Luckily for some women in Indiana, a judge blocked this law from taking effect,  However, the Republicans in Indiana were able to slash funding, which with rising health care costs, has caused a few rural Planned Parenthood offices to close.

In 2005, Planned Parenthood of Indiana received a total of $3.3 million in funding from government contracts and grants. By 2014, that funding had dropped to $1.9 million. Five of Planned Parenthood’s smaller clinics in the state -- the health centers in Scottsburg, Madison, Richmond, Bedford and Warsaw -- were unable to keep up with the growing technology costs that were necessary to remain competitive as a medical provider. All five clinics that were forced to close had offered HIV testing. None had offered abortions.

What happens when we mix Hard Right Republican policies with the real world?   It usually turns into trouble for the people of America:

 Scott County, Indiana, the center of an exploding HIV outbreak, has been without an HIV testing center since early 2013, when the sole provider -- a Planned Parenthood clinic -- was forced to close its doors. The clinic did not offer abortion services.The Scott County clinic and four other Planned Parenthood facilities in the state, all of which provided HIV testing and information, have shuttered since 2011, in large part due to funding cuts to the state's public health infrastructure. Those cuts came amid a national and local political campaign to demonize the health care provider. Now, the state is scrambling to erect pop-up clinics to combat an unprecedented HIV epidemic caused by intravenous drug use.
The fact that Scott County was "without a testing facility until a few weeks ago is a glaring example of the kind of public health crisis that results when prevention and testing are left unfunded," said Patti Stauffer, Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky's vice president for public policy

But wait there is more:

In 2011, Planned Parenthood ran five rural clinics in Indiana. They tested for HIV and offered prevention, intervention and counseling for better health. The one in Scott County performed no abortions.
Mothers-to-be in Scott County must drive 50 miles to visit a gynecologist or an obstetrician. That's not an isolated insight. Of Indiana's 92 counties, Scott County has ranked 92nd in unhealthiness for five straight years.
Fewer high school kids there go to college than anywhere else in the state. There is one mental health provider for every 3,500 residents.
There is one physician in town. He saw the HIV outbreak coming and begged the state for help. None came.

How exactly is it "pro-life" to make a pregnant woman living in poverty drive over 50 miles to see a gynecologist?  

While the Republicans, due to long debunked videos,  are fighting each other to decide who can punish Planned Parenthood the most,   What better way to play to their hardcore pseudo Christian base?

While they do that, women are suffering and dying.



Are you ready for this story to come to Wisconsin? Where will it hit first?  Rusk County?  Monroe County?  Sawyer County?  or maybe Washington County!

How long do we have?

The Legislature was too preoccupied before 2013 trying to defund Planned Parenthood and finally succeeded despite court objections.
Scott County has been without an HIV testing center for two years. That's how long it took the epidemic to flourish.

Instead of naming the outbreak(when it gets here) the WI HIV outbreak of 2017, maybe we can name it the "Common Sense Pro-Life Conservative Values" outbreak,  

Sorry Wisconsin women, you get sick, or pregnant you are on your own!

The four times married Rush Limbaugh, republican spokes model and staunch Scott Walker supporter has this advice for young men:

"How many of you guys, in your own experience with women, have learned that no means yes if you know how to spot it?" Limbaugh asked his male listeners. "I'm probably -- let me tell you something, in this modern [world], that is simply, that's not tolerated. People aren't even going to try to understand that one."

"It used to be a cliché, it used to be part of the advice young boys were given," he added.

I wonder if Scott Walker/Rebecca Kleefisch approve of that message?  

I am not saying there is a war on women, but with Limbaugh as part of the party power core, I sure would not want to be a woman at the republican convention.  

The Rovian Gambit

We all remember that during one of the many #walkerdoc drops, we saw an email where Scott Walker was kissing up to Karl Rove.  

We know through the eight years of Karl Rove, being on the center stage as one of the power structure of the Bush administration, would pull out any and all stops to win! 

When The Bush team was trying to sell us that Saddam Hussein had Weapons of Mass Destruction,  Ambassador Joe Wilson, who was sent on a mission to see if they actually did have WMD's(they didn't), came out publicly telling America that Bush was lying.    Instead of making their case against Ambassador Wilson, Karl Rove engineered an attack against Wilson's wife - Valerie Plame.  Plame was an undercover CIA agent at the time, but that did not stop Rove and crew from attacking her. 

Fast forward to Wisconsin 2014, Scott Walker is dropping in the polls like the temperature in November.  The Scott Walker for Governor campaign did a statewide survey of women head of households, on Monday night.

They obviously did not like the results, because the next day, in a classic example of tone deaf, they used an anonymous source, quoting an anonymous source attacking DA John Chisholm's wife. 

Anything to win. 

Clearly Rovian, blatantly cowardly yet right in the right wing extremists(like Charely Sykes) wheelhouse of low down. dirty, disgusting tactics.  

Do not believe it, do not listen to it, do not click on their disgusting links.   Understand its pure desperation and anyone in the "media" trying to push this story is not a serious person.

Recently, Politifact checked out a statement that Mary Burke made, well kind of anyway, and called it "false". 

The Statement:

Says Gov. Scott Walker’s repeal of a 2009 law has left Wisconsin as "one of five states without an equal pay law protecting women from gender discrimination in their paycheck."

But while Walker reversed an attempt to toughen up Wisconsin law, its protections against gender discrimination in workplace pay date back decades. The governor’s 2012 action left those in place, albeit without tougher penalties for employers.
We rate Burke’s claim False.

The problem is, in doing their research, the JSonline Politifact, should have checked with Karen Herzog of JSonline:

 Wisconsin is one of five states that have no equal-pay laws on the books. The other states are Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina and Utah.

Scott Walker Calls For Prosser's Resignation

Scott Walker steps up his call for Clean Government in Madison:

“Regardless of party, people should speak out against those (inappropriate actions),” Walker said. “Whether it’s David Prosser or anyone else, if there are situations that make anybody feel at risk or threatened, there is just no place for that.”

I agree with Governor Walker, when a female public official needs police escort to leave the building because she is scared of her coworker, there should be no place for that!

Rand Paul Loves Women Like No One Else

Extreme right winger Rand Paul is the leading candidate for some to be the Republican nominee for president in 2016!  Yesterday he took his presidential ambitions to Meet The Press and used his time to tell us how much he loves women:

“We have a lot of debates in Washington that get dumbed down and are used for political purposes,” Paul told NBC’s David Gregory. “This whole sort of war on women thing, I’m scratching my head because, if there was a war on women, I think they won.”
As evidence, the Kentucky senator pointed out that none of the women in his family were complaining about inequality or having their health care rights curtailed by Republicans.
“You know, I don’t see so much that women are downtrodden, I see women rising up and doing great things,” he remarked. “In fact, I worry about our young men sometimes because I think the women really are out-competing the men in our world.”
Paul added that he tried to never talk about the female anatomy and that Republicans did not start the war on women “debate.”
“The facts show that women are doing very well, have come a long way,” he explained. “And I have a lot of successful women in my family. And I don’t here them saying, ‘Oh, woe is me, this terrible misogynist world.’ They look out and they’re conquering the world.”

Apparently if the women in the Rand Paul world are ok then the war on women is over - they won!  I guess Uncle Sugar really knew what side to pick!  However, as is so often the case with our friends on the right, reality does not match up to their rhetoric!

Women make up less than half of enrollees at law schools, according to the American Bar Association, and are way underrepresented on the federal bench. The percentage of women in medical school is also less than 50%. 

Then Rand, added selective memory to his blatant disregard of facts!

Paul later suggested that for President Bill Clinton was responsible for the “war on women” because he had an affair with an intern while he was in office during the 1990s.
“The media seems to have given President Clinton a pass on this,” Paul insisted. “There is no excuse for that, that is predatory behavior and it shouldn’t be something — we should’t want to associate with people who would take advantage of a young girl in his office.”
The potential Republican 2016 presidential candidate said that it was difficult to unlink Bill Clinton’s behavior from potential Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
“I think in my state, people tend to frown upon that,” he declared. “If there were someone in my community who did that in my community, they would be socially — we would disassociate from somebody who would take advantage of a young woman in a workplace.”

The problem with Mr. Paul is that when he was running for office, he never let anything like a woman get in his way.,n the way of his ambitions in the way.

GOP passes forced ultrasound bill

Additional unprecedented attacks on birth control move forward

MADISON – Yesterday, the State Assembly continued to ignore the dismal economic conditions in Wisconsin, choosing instead to focus on extreme social issues, passing three bills that infringe on a woman’s ability to access birth control and abortion services. Despite hours of heartfelt debate from Assembly Democrats, Republicans rejected all efforts to improve the bills to make them more humane.

On a party-line vote, Republicans passed Assembly Bills 216 and 217 as well as Senate Bill 206. The bills substantially gut Wisconsin’s contraceptive equity law, which requires insurers to cover birth control. The bills also remove insurance coverage of abortion services from public employees, even if the health of the mother is in danger. Additionally, for the first time in Wisconsin history, a woman will be forced to have a medically unnecessary ultrasound before choosing to end her pregnancy. One of the bills would require a physician performing an abortion to have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles. No similar state requirement is imposed on any other medical procedure.

“Last night, many brave Assembly women shared their compelling and deeply personal stories on the floor of the State Assembly. These stories included a medical privacy violation, the loss of loved ones, the loss of pregnancies and even a sexual assault,” said Taylor (D-Madison). “We shared our stories because we hoped that if we put a human face on the negative impact these bad public policies will have on women throughout Wisconsin, perhaps our Republican colleagues would show compassion and either limit or stop these bad bills from moving forward. We were unfortunately wrong.”

During the course of the debate, Republicans rejected 19 amendments to the three bills. These amendments included protecting a woman’s private medical records, removing a requirement that would force ultrasounds upon rape and incest victims who don’t report the attack, which is estimated to be approximately 81 percent of victims. They even rebuked an effort to require a medical professional to perform and read the mandated ultrasound.

“These bills had nothing to do with women’s health, but rather inserting politicians into personal, private health care decisions,” said Taylor. “Rather than addressing Wisconsin’s bottom of the barrel jobs status, Republican legislators are fixated on doing everything in their power to make abortion and birth control less accessible and ultimately illegal. Yesterday was a sad day for Wisconsin women.”

In a highly unusual move, the forced ultrasound bill was fast-tracked and brought to the Assembly floor without a vote from the Assembly Health Committee, on which Rep. Taylor is a member. Governor Walker indicated he will sign SB-206 into law after it passed the Senate on Wednesday and the Assembly on Thursday. Assembly Bills 216 and 217 are pending in the State Senate.

Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin Closes Chippewa Falls Health Center

MADISON- Today, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin closed its health center in Chippewa Falls after 28 years of caring for thousands of patients. This center closure and those in three other communities comes as a direct result of budget cuts directed at Planned Parenthood’s patients supported by Governor Walker, Senator Moulton and Representative Bernier in the last budget cycle. Despite the cost-effective health benefits and need for continued access to preventive, essential health care, Governor Walker, Senator Moulton and Representative Bernier voted to end care for their constituents at the only health care provider offering affordable, essential reproductive health care in Chippewa Falls. Patients seeking cancer screens, wellness exams, birth control, and STD testing and treatment will now need to travel to the Planned Parenthood health center in Eau Claire. The governor’s current budget proposal threatens the availability of existing affordable patient care at providers like Planned Parenthood unless the public responds.

“For 78 years, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin has been providing high quality health care for up to 70,000 women and families and we will continue to put the needs of our patients first,” said Tanya Atkinson Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin. “Ensuring every patient continues to receive affordable, quality health care, without interruption, remains our top priority. Senator Moulton and Representative Bernier’s previous votes to block health care access, their implicit support of the governor’s health care proposals, and misunderstanding of their own community’s health care needs and provider options challenges the future availability of affordable health care. Voting to eliminate the only source of affordable, preventive, lifesaving health care in their own community underscores just how out of touch Senator Moulton and Representative Bernier are with the needs of their constituents.”

Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin remains committed to maintaining access for patients in its 23 remaining health centers, but cannot do it alone. Governor Walker’s decision to turn away federal resources that would fill health coverage gaps in Wisconsin, coupled with his budget proposal to end BadgerCare coverage for women making over $11,490 a year is a challenge to the future of women’s health.

“We call on those who value continued access to affordable, lifesaving health care to call on Senator Moulton and Representative Bernier to reconsider their stance on shutting down patient care at Planned Parenthood,” continued Atkinson. “Hard-working families who are struggling in this economy need the security of quality health coverage so they can receive health care when they need it, without facing huge medical bills.”

As a leading provider and advocate for women’s health care across the state, Planned Parenthood knows firsthand that continued access to BadgerCare so often makes the difference between access to cancer screenings and birth control, or going without. According to a recent article in the Chippewa Herald the only other health center in Chippewa County that provides care to people without health insurance does not provide any reproductive health care, does not take appointments, and is seeing an increase in need. They used to refer to Planned Parenthood in their community and are now referring to the Planned Parenthood in Eau Claire.

One in five women in America has been to a Planned Parenthood at some point in her life. For many women, Planned Parenthood is their only source of health care. Planned Parenthood is their health care provider, community resource, and advocate. Without the continued availability of BadgerCare, many women will have no other affordable health care options.

Background Information
Governor Scott Walker and the Republican-controlled Legislature eliminated funding for patients accessing reproductive health care at Planned Parenthood in the 2011-2013 Biennial State Budget. The services provided by Planned Parenthood include birth control counseling and options, lifesaving cervical and breast cancer screenings, annual exams, STD testing and treatment, Well Women Exams, pregnancy testing, HIV testing, and colposcopies (advanced cervical cancer tests).

Investing in women’s health is a non-partisan issue as it contributes to healthy women, men, and families for Wisconsin while saving tax payers money. For every $1 spent on family planning, taxpayers save $4 (The Guttmacher Institute).

According to the latest data, there are 282,000 women in Wisconsin in need of publicly funded reproductive health care services. Current provider networks and funding sources provide care for only 95,000 patients. The vast majority of these patients do not have access to affordable health insurance and receive assistance from various public funding sources to access this basic care.

In 2008, the network of family planning providers in Wisconsin averted 24,300 unintended pregnancies, 12,100 abortions, and saved taxpayers $94 million in averted health care costs.

Closure Facts
Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin is closing four health centers in Beaver Dam, Shawano, Johnson Creek, and Chippewa Falls. Health center staff at the four affected health centers have been serving the communities for decades: Beaver Dam since 1977, Chippewa Falls since 1984, Shawano since 1979, and Johnson Creek since 1999.

Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin health centers will close on the following dates: Shawano April 19; Chippewa Falls May 16; Beaver Dam June 14; Johnson Creek July 19.

These four health centers provide birth control counseling and options, lifesaving cervical and breast cancer screenings, annual exams, STD testing and treatment, Well Women Exams, pregnancy testing, HIV testing, and referrals to a network of community resources.

In just the last 10 years, these four health centers have provided services to 26,951 patients.

WISGOP Poised To Legalize Sexual, Emotional Abuse

Just as it was in 2011, Scott Walker and the other Republicans have a lot of debts to repay for the financial support they received in order to buy their positions.

They are passing the mining bill, even though it won't stand up in court, because they owe the mining and power companies. They're passing bills to sell our children, their education and their futures in order to pay back the education profiteers.

And they are about to pass a bill legalizing the sexual and emotional abuse of women:

“We are in a very good place in Wisconsin,” Vos said. “We have a pro-life Legislature, pro-life governor in Scott Walker and a pro-life attorney general (J.B. Van Hollen). We can all wrap our arms around this agenda.”

And it sounds like the first bill to get a warm reception from Republicans will be what's being dubbed the “Woman’s Right to Know her Unborn Child Act,” also being termed the "ultrasound bill" by pro-choice forces.

The bill would require a woman seeking an abortion to receive an ultrasound and be informed of what is visible on the monitoring screen — although the woman would not be forced to look at the image.

“This bill is a priority,” Fitzgerald said. “It is long overdue.”

Barbara Lyons, executive director of the misnamed group Right to Life (Except for the Living), lied through her teeth, claiming that this procedure is non-invasive. This is patently false:

Rep. Chris Taylor, D-Madison, is the former public policy director for Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin. She says requiring an ultrasound to be performed before all abortions would mean an invasive procedure for women who are less than 12 weeks pregnant.

At that stage in a pregnancy, she said, the uterus may be blocked by the pelvis, preventing a traditional ultrasound from picking up the image. Thus, a vaginal ultrasound would need to be performed in order to provide an image for a medical professional to discuss with a woman.

The reaction, as one would imagine, is less than warm. Jenni Dye, Executive Director for NARAL, said:

This is more evidence that the anti-choice leadership seems to have missed the memo from voters in November. Voters are tired of the divisive attacks on women, like subjecting them to invasive transvaginal ultrasounds. It’s time for politicians to do their job, not our doctors'.

Not only does it further prove that the Republicans are willing to sell out to the highest bidders and are crass misogynists, but it also shows their hypocrisy and cowardice.*

Remember, these Republicans are the same people that are afraid to meet their constituents, to see the damage their actions are causing in the real world outside of their ivory towers, and to take any responsibility for the consequences of their actions, whether it is in their political or personal lives.

Until they show real leadership by behaving the same way they expect others to behave, I can not have any respect for them.  In fact, I can not have anything but contempt for these vile creatures.

*And considering how much effort Vos and Fitzgerald put in in getting into different women's vaginas, they'd have figured out by now that their are no jobs in there.

That Thing Called Rape.....

The long list of republicans who have brought up, redefined and diminished rape, is too long to list!

Luckily someone started a Republican rape Hall of Fame to keep track of it all!

The problem with their website though, is they can never keep it current!

Just when they think they are caught up, THIS HAPPENS!

John Koster, a Republican congressional candidate in Washington state, said Sunday that "the rape thing" is not a good enough reason for a woman to have an abortion, the Associated Press reported.

Asked at a campaign fundraiser whether he supports abortion rights in some situations, Koster replied that he only supports abortion in cases where a woman's life is in danger.

"Incest is so rare, I mean, it's so rare," he said. "But the rape thing-- you know, I know a woman who was raped and kept the child, gave it up for adoption, and she doesn't regret it."

He added, "On the rape thing, it's like, how does putting more violence onto a woman's body and taking the life of an innocent child that's a consequence of this crime -- how does that make it better? You know what I mean?"

Duffy Supporters Don't Think Much Of Women Voters

There currently is a radio ad going on by one of these sleaze groups supporting Sean Duffy in a rather sexist manner:



Think Progress has the scoop on the group that put on this ad, Young Guns Network, which appears to be in violation of their 501c(4) tax status by airing this ad. The part of the ad that is so offensive is:

OLIVIA: Hi Emma. Hmmm. Latte, cappuccino? I can’t make up my mind.
EMMA: That’s how I felt about this election… until I took a good look at the candidates.
OLIVIA: And?
EMMA: I’m for Sean Duffy. He’s pretty cool, actually. He’s part of this new generation of leaders, the kind we need in Washington. He’s a good husband and father and he fights for small businesses, like mine. So I can keep the doors open and even hire more people.
OLIVIA: He’s the cute one, right?

I've know a lot of women, and I have yet to hear one of them say they're going to base their vote on the "cute one." OF course, the women I know have too much self respect to allow themselves to be denigrated in that way.

The Myth of the War on Women

As Meg points out Women of America really should be behind President Obama if you want silly things like equal rights, equal pay and respect! 

However for the women who are true believers in the right wing, have no fear!  Just because your presidential candidate has not quite grasped the concept of women in the workforce, and your vice presidential candidate thinks that getting pregnant by rape is just another way to plan a family! Just be careful if your alone with a well connected GOP activist! 

Well republican(and all) ladies, there is no need to fear.   The war on women is a myth anyway, because now YOU have your own pen!!!!

Paul Ryan Need's This Man

Indiana's U.S. Senate seat is up for grab this year, far right extremist Republican candidate Richard Mourdock was in a debate recently and he let his true republican colors come to light!

"I struggled with it myself for a long time, but I came to realize life is that gift from God," Mourdock said. "And I think even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen."

Luckily for the people of Indiana, there are some sane people in the state, including his opponent Democratic challenger Joe Donnelly.   

Democrats immediately pounced on his comments, and Donnelly -- who is also pro-life but who supports exceptions for rape and incest -- released a statement questioning the notion that God would "intend for rape to happen."

"The God I believe in and the God I know most Hoosiers believe in, does not intend for rape to happen -- ever," Donnelly said. "What Mr. Mourdock said is shocking, and it is stunning that he would be so disrespectful to survivors of rape.

Hmmm sound eerily similar to the views on rape and abortion of Todd Akin and Paul Ryan!    Let's check in and see what Paul Ryan(R-forcible rape) thinks of Mr. Mourdock, and his views on God Given Rape Gifts:

Rivard Island

By now, everyone in WI has heard Roger Rivard's comment's, where he gave an interview and talked about the values his father bestowed on him(emphasis mine):

He told the Journal Sentinel that his father had advised him not to have premarital sex, and he took that seriously. "He also told me one thing, 'If you do (have premarital sex), just remember, consensual sex can turn into rape in an awful hurry,' " Rivard said. "Because all of a sudden a young lady gets pregnant and the parents are madder than a wet hen and she's not going to say, 'Oh, yeah, I was part of the program.' All that she has to say or the parents have to say is it was rape because she's underage. And he just said, 'Remember, Roger, if you go down that road, some girls,' he said, 'they rape so easy.'

Another part of the story is that Paul Ryan haD endorsed Mr. Rivard. I have plenty of criticisms for Paul Ryan( R - Wall St.), but this is not one. I have to give credit where it is due. Today the congressman walked back his endorsement of Mr. Rivard. Here is a statement from Paul Ryan's Congressional campaign manager, Kevin Seifert:

"State Representative Rivard's comments are outrageous and offensive. Congressman Ryan believes there is no place in our discourse for rhetoric such as this. Congressman Ryan cannot support Mr. Rivard or his indefensible comments."

Congrats to Paul Ryan for doing the right thing, and leaving Roger Rivard all alone on his island of lunacy.  

The next question is, if Paul Ryan is not supporting Roger Rivard, why are you?

WISGOP Is Winning Their War Against Women

Depressing news came out last week showing the gender gap in Wisconsin, as well as the nation, is still at abhorrent and untenable levels:

An unprecedented analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data released this week confirms that Wisconsin has a significant gender-based wage gap in all of its Congressional districts.

According to the analysis, the median yearly pay for women in Wisconsin is $10,324 less than the median yearly pay for Wisconsin men, or 78 cents for every dollar.

Nationally, full-time working women are paid 77 cents for every dollar paid to full-time working men, according to Census data. The analysis was conducted by the National Partnership for Women & Families.

“It is stunning and deeply troubling to learn that the wage gap affects women in nearly every congressional district in the country. Women and their families are losing critical income for food, gas, rent, health insurance and more due to a punishing gender-based wage gap that has plagued this country for decades,” said Debra Ness, president of the National Partnership.

“This new data should be a clear and resounding wake-up call for all lawmakers who have the power to pass legislation that would help close the gap and promote economic security for the women and families in their districts.”

Sad to say, but the current batch of politicians have shown that they are more inclined to make the problem worse rather than fix it.

This goes to show that the upcoming elections are just as important as ever. Make sure that the people you vote for are against the war on women and not simply against women.
