We have written many stories on how Jesse Kremer (R-Westboro Baptist Church), has been attacking the poorest and weakest in society in the name of Jesus.  

We know now, that Jesse does not stand alone.   I mean more than his second in command Republican Steve nASS (R-Big Brother).  

Kremer has found his chaplain for the war he is trying to start!

So this bloodthirsty asshole has a solution to the problem: Fathers should take the matter into their own hands and begin shooting any trans person they happen to see. James Dobson writes:
“If you are a dad, I pray you will protect your little girls from men who walk in unannounced, unzip their pants and urinate in front of them. If this had happened 100 years ago, someone might have been shot. Where is today’s manhood? God help us!”Y“Obama, acting like a king, is wielding dictatorial powers never envisioned in the law. He is determined to change the way males and females relate to one another, and worse, how children perceive themselves. If you are a married man with any gumption, surely you will defend your wife’s privacy and security in restroom facilities. Would you remain passive after knowing that a strange-looking man, dressed like a woman, has been peering over toilet cubicles to watch your wife in a private moment? What should be done to the pervert who was using mirrors to watch women and girls in their stalls?”

Shooting our friends in the LGBTQ community is exactly what Jesus would have wanted!

But wait there's more:

Kremer has found a great American to stand with Steve nASS and himself in this war! 

 Esten Ciboro was recently in the news for protesting Target’s new policy of allowing transgender people to use the restroom of their choice. Now it turns out that he has been arrested for keeping a 13-year-old girl chained inside his basement. The girl, who has not been identified, was forced to use the restroom in a bucket and was fed scraps of spoiled food.
The girl said her captivity was punishment for wetting the bed and that she escaped using a spare key she stole from her captors after they went jogging. According to the police, Ciboro and his father, Timothy, were trying to flee when law-enforcement officials arrived on the scene. It’s unclear how long the girl was kept in captivity, though court documents report that it could have been as long as a year. Both the girl and two other children were placed in state custody and sent to a foster home. Timothy Ciboro made the following statement concerning the children:

Like a true "Conservative", he took personal responsibility for his actions  he had her chained in the basement in God's Name!  

‘I miss my babies with all my heart. I want them to do right. That’s the way they were raised. If they have any questions, all they have to do is open the Bible and they will have all the answers.’

Also like a true "Conservative", we will be paying for him for many years :

 Ciboro and his father were both arrested and are facing charges of kidnapping and child endangerment. Both are currently being held in jail awaiting bond and have sought a public defender, though no date has been set for the trial.

Jesse Kremer and Steve nASS should be very proud of the company they keep with such like minded individuals!  

Scott Walker Has No Idea

In yet another example of Scott Walker's lack of honesty and character, Walker tells us he has no idea about gay marriage(emphasis mine).  

And Gov. Scott Walker, who voted for the state’s ban and has been a longtime opponent of gay marriage, dodged questions Friday about whether he still supports the prohibition. He said he didn’t know whether the ban would withstand legal challenges, and that he can’t judge that because he’s not an attorney.

Walker also said he didn’t know how significant it would be for the state if gay marriage were to be legalized.

Scott Walker has been a "long time opponent" of gay marriage but "knows nothing" about it or how the ban effects the people of Wisconsin(the people he supposedly represents). 

This is a career politician, who has run for Governor of Wisconsin three times and other elected offices numerous times and yet has no idea about gay marriage(one of the defining national issues of our day). 

As Milwaukee County Executive he vetoed an effort to provide benefits to the same-sex partners of county workers.   Did he do that not "knowing how significant it would be"?  Scott Walker also vehemently supported the 2006 same-sex marriage amendment in Wisconsin.  I wonder what he "didn't" know when he did that? 

Now it looks like the federal judge is going to overturn Wisconsin's gay marriage ban(finally) and Scott Walker will direct JB Van Hollen(because he really cant function without direction) to spare no taxpayer expense in fighting the judge's decision to overturn.  

I wonder if he will know how "significant it will be for our state" when he spends hundreds of thousands of dollars fighting to keep it illegal?


Sure sounds like presidential material to me.

Scott Walker this weekend is doing the one thing he has mastered since becoming Governor of Wisconsin - leaving the state to campaign.   This time, its for one of the more extreme right wing people you have ever seen - Ken Cuccinelli.  

Cuccinelli is sort of a combination, if you took all of the bad from Steve nASS, Andre JAcque and Glenn Grothman and then took a step to the right!

Let's take a quick peek at Cuccinelli(since that is about all anyone can handle):

He is amazed that God has not punished America more for allowing abortion:

But in his speech to the Christian Life Summit last year -- unearthed Monday night by NBC12 -- Cuccinelli said he is surprised that God has not yet "imposed" more judgment on America for allowing abortion to be legal.
"Really, given that God does judge nations, it's amazing that abortion has run as far and foully as it has, without what I would consider to be a greater imposition of judgment on this country," Cuccinelli said. "Who knows what the future holds?"
Cuccinelli also criticized the Catholic church for its "soft and weak" leadership on social issues.

Has declared war on oral sex:

 Ken Cuccinelli wants to keep kids safe from sexual predators by banning oral and anal sex—between consenting adults. On a website his campaign just launched, Cuccinelli, the Republican candidate for governor in Virginia, paints himself as the only real protector of children, because of his efforts as Virginia attorney general to reinstate a law banning all naked fun-time acts besides vaginal intercourse

And Hates the LGBT community:

 Politico reports on how Cuccinelli responded to a question by moderator Judy Woodruff in which she asked if he still agreed that homosexuality was “against nature and harmful to society":

“My personal beliefs about the personal challenges of homosexuality haven’t changed,” he said at one point. “What I want to do as governor is create an environment, including an economic environment, where every Virginian has the opportunity to succeed.”

“The notion that because I believe marriage ought to be protected, because I believe life begins at conception — just like hundreds of thousands of independents and Democrats — this isn’t just me, it isn’t just Republicans,” he said. “There are lots of Virginians, millions, perhaps, of Virginians, who share my sincerely held beliefs.”

With a guy this far to the right, no wonder Scott Walker is spending our taxpayer money and heading out of town to campaign for him.  When you align in goals so closely, why not help his good friend win?

There is only one problem though!   The Virginia republican party worries that Scott Walker will make Cuccinelli look bad because he is so extreme and divisive! 

Walker, the Wisconsin governor, will make two stops with Cuccinelli on Saturday. He is popular on the right for taking on unions in a blue state and then beating back a recall, but his trip risks giving Democrats an opening to argue that Cuccinelli will govern in a similarly divisive way. McAuliffe promises a bipartisan cabinet and a knack for deal-making.

 

 

Will You Marry Me!

We just came out of what Scott Walker officially recognized as "National Marriage Week".   This made Wisconsin Family Council Giddy with excitement.    Fresh off their (not)surprising endorsement of election loser, Roger "some girls rape so easy" Rivard, the organization  "advancing Judeo-Christian principles and values" jumped all in on National Marriage week.  

Julaine Appling, president of Wisconsin Family Council says, “Governor Walker’s proclamation rightly identifies the benefits of marriage and the costs of marital breakdown, not only for the men, women and children directly involved, but also for the entire state.” The proclamation reads in part, “Marriage breakdown takes a toll on the emotional, physical and financial well-being of the entire family, and increases the public cost for human service programs.”  

So says the unwed, living with her female friend Julaine Appling, who has spurned numerous offers to help her find true love!  

I wonder if she discussed this at a forum featuring Glenn Grothman, Robin Vos, Michelle Litjens, Jeanne Tarantino and Charlie Sykes?

1.  STOP protecting pedophiles(and DO NOT make anyone Pope who was involved in the coverup)!!  

I guess if you are ok with the above five points, then there is no reason to change!  If you think that discrimination and pedophilia are wrong then you might want and hope for some real change this year!!

To the Vatican decision makers, call me, I would like to interview for your open position!

In Mississippi, GOP state Rep. Andy Gipson posted a message on his Facebook page which calls for putting gays and lesbians to death.
On May 10, Gipson made the following post:

“Been a lot of press on Obama’s opinion on “homosexual marriage.” The only opinion that counts is God’s: see Romans 1:26-28 and Leviticus 20:13. Anyway you slice it, it is sin. Not to mention horrific social policy.”

Later on in the thread, Gipson posts a comment about how homosexuality is “unnatural” and causes “disease.”

According to Leviticus 20:13, “If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.”

By referring to this Bible verse on his Facebook page, Gipson is in fact, calling for killing homosexuals. And he isn’t apologizing for it either.

When called on the carpet to apologize for his hate posts...He did what all good republicans do.  He doubled down!

After receiving an email petition from UnityMS calling for him to apologize, Gipson responded on Friday by posting the following message on Facebook:

“To be clear, I want the world to know that I do not, cannot, and will not apologize for the inspired truth of God’s Word. It is one thing that will never “change.” Anyone who knows me knows I also believe that all people are created in God’s image, and that all people are loved by God, so much so that He gave us the truth of His Word which convicts us of the reality and guilt of our sin, and He gave us His Son Jesus who paid the full penalty for all our sins, by His grace through our faith in Him as we repent of our sin. John 3:16. It is this message that I preach every Sunday. I sincerely pray God will reach someone through this message.”

As of Saturday, Gipson seems to have removed his offensive posts, but has not apologized. You can view his page here.

As we talked about yesterday, just what book are they reading?  

Seems to me like the current republican party has a lot in common with another group that we see often....

25 Post Election Thoughts!

#1 First and Foremost - Mike Tate has to go, today is NOT soon enough.  In a night of a pretty successful national democratic national night, and one where we delivered two national victories, we once again took a statewide beating. 

I get that the republicans have a huge funding advantage, but we have a strong committed membership and some great candidates.   I get that the republicans were so unethical in the redistricting process(but not sure the rest of the electorate does - hint hint), but still if we can not beat such people as Andres Jacque or Robin Vos then there is a problem. 

We can not as a state afford to keep losing, and Tate's record speaks for itself.  It is time for a change in leadership.

2.  The biggest loser of the night was Public Education in Wisconsin.

3.  Democrats need better messaging, its plain and simple.  What do the republicans truly stand for?  Who knows?  It is no coincidence that the republicans started winning more elections when they hired Frank Luntz.  

4.  Can we as a democratic party please stand up for Collective Bargaining rights?   When no democrat mentioned restoring collective bargaining rights as a major issue, that put us behind the eight ball.  When having a discussion about this with a solid democrat who I respect immensely, she asked me what I would call someone who obviously supports collective bargaining rights, but does not push them as a major issue because it should be assumed.

My answer to that was (and is) I would call them the minority party.  

5.  It is time for the elected representative to become leaders. Have a plan of attack and draw a line.  Pick some issues that they all stand behind, and stand like a rock.   Sometimes, it appears, that some of the democrats in the "safe seats" are very comfortable in the minority. 

6.  I would personally like to thank Paul Ryan for helping deliver Wisconsin to President Obama.  I would also like to thank Rob Zerban for running a great campaign and putting himself out there.   He pulled a very large percentage of the votes considering that Ryan spent $4 million dollars with silly ads and redistricted to make his district much more friendly.   FYI to the democratic party, Ryan is beatable.  There is a reason Ryan ducked debates and hid from his district.    

7.  Paul Ryan 2016??  Please God! 

8. Once upon a time, Morals and Ethics mattered.  Once upon a time, the Republican party ran as the party of values.  

 The republican voters of Racine showed us that this is all a distant memory, by re-electing Robin Vos.

9.  Be prepared for the next fight - Wisconsin becoming a forced-to-work-for-less state.  Its coming.  

10.   I do respect the service that Tommy Thompson has given to Wisconsin.  However he ran such a bad campaign and has taken such a hard right turn to win the primary that he deserved to lose.  Not only did he deserve to lose, but he deserved to lose to an openly gay woman!   

11.  Anti Gay Marriage amendments lost all over the country, we were a couple years to early in putting ours to a vote(still a black mark on Wisconsin).   In the next election cycle, can we have a referendum declaring Julainne Appling illegal?  

12.  What does Mitt do, since he planned his whole life to be president, now that the country has rejected him twice?   Hint:  See Todd Marinovich.

13.  It was great to see democratic women(statewide and nationally) make a huge inroads.  

14.  Every republican who shared their crazy views on abortion, was punished for it at the ballot box.  All except 1 - Paul Ryan! That is why many republicans will not discuss their views on abortion.  

15.  Education won in many districts, in terms of passing referendums throughout the state to increase funding, yet we keep electing anti education representatives.   It should not be that hard for the democrats to make that connection and put that message out.

16.   I am very proud to have voted for President Obama twice.   Everyone on my ballot, who I voted for, won!

17.  Everyone on the left needs to accept that money makes a huge difference in politics and work from there.  It is important to work to change that, but its even more important to embrace it!

18.  We need to find a way that incumbents are not automatically elected.  People say they hat career politicians, yet continually vote for the same person over and over.

19.  Shame on the Fox valley for not re-electing Jessica King.   Jessica is a true American success story and someone who "raised herself up by the bootstraps" and is a true public servant!   She is what America is all about!   I hope she runs again!

20   My son had a "mock election" in his school.   President Obama won handily and Tommy Thompson also won.   It seems the kids did not like tammy because she said the D-word.  My son tried to make the case how that was ridiculous reason to vote against her, to no avail.   It shows that the same ads that appeal to the republican base are also making a difference in the perception of 2nd - 4th graders.     Must be on the same intellectual level. 

21.   I used to make fun of the "tea party" but now I realize how important they are to the democratic party!   They helped deliver numerous seats to the democrats!   So Thank you and please stay around! 

22. Mitt Romney & Paul Ryan, both lost every ward, state, etc.... voting area where they originate from.   Romney lost Michigan & Massachusetts, and lost.  Paul Ryan lost not only Wisconsin, but also Rock County and his home ward!

What does that say about you, when the people who know you the best, solidly reject you:???

23.  Congrats to Heidi Heitkamp, Chris Murphy, Elizabeth Warren, Jon Tester, Sherrod Brown, Bernie Sanders. Claire McCaskill and Tim Kaine on your solid wins!

24.  Let's hope the blatant racism that the national republicans and Reince Priebus ran on will never happen again! 

25.   Capper delivered the perfect line summing up last night! 

 Enjoy the victory for a few days. You've earned it. Then come back and we'll get back to work. We helped save the country, now we gotta save the state.

The work now has to come, not fighting the republican party, but in changing the party from within!

On to the next election!

LGBT Rights!

I went to a wedding recently.  Ok, it wasn't a wedding.

I went to a wedding reception recently.    Ok it wasn't a wedding reception. 

I went to a ceremony recently where two people exchanged their vows and joined their lives.   Ok it wasn't really that either.   

I went to a party/reception, where two people stood in front of friends and family and told everyone that they were committed to building a life together.

Not a priest, pastor or rabbi in sight!

See the problem is,  that the couple were two women, who met, fell in love, and decided to commit to each other.  Not just in their love but also in their everyday life.  They have a child together, a mortgage, care payments, house repairs, grass to mow, driveways to shovel etc... They have decided that they want to share everything together as they go through this journey called life.

Unfortunately for them though, the one thing that they can not share is wedding vows.  We as a society have decided to tell them that their love and decision to be together is not acceptable to us.  Heck in Wisconsin we even wrote it in our Constitution that LGBT people will never be equal and do not deserve the same rights as straight people.   Isn't that special! 

In Minnesota today, they will also be voting on an Anti-Gay marriage amendment, written by a republican legislator who was cheating on her husband at the time.  In Wisconsin the same group that was the driving force behind our anti-gay marriage amendment are avid supporters of multiply divorced Robin Vos and Roger ' Some girls rape so easy" Rivard!  Yet do not get the irony. 

All hope is not lost however, the ridiculous "dont ask dont tell policy" has been ended.   There is much support for LGBT equal rights, even from the NFL!  The messaging has gotten better and eventually they will be on equal footing with all of us!  

That being said, we still have much work to do.   In the meantime I just wanted to be clear about something.   If you tell me that you have LGBT friends, and do not support equal rights, then they are not your friends.   What kind of friendship is based on not wanting your friend to have equal rights?    Who would support suppression of rights to a family member?  

Also when you say you support equal rights and still support politicians who adamantly oppose equal rights, then your not being honest with someone.   

I do not care if you are a democrat, republican, libertarian, independent or apathetic, it is time to put hatred and bigotry aside and allow our LGBT friends and family equal rights!

Push the politicians, talk to your friends, educate your children and your church,  how important this issue is and how wrong we are on it right now!    

Let's make sure my friends can soon have an actual wedding ceremony for me and my wife to gladly attend!

How Right Wing Sausage is Made

Science Fiction Writer and WPRI paid hack Christian Schneider wrote a fable the other day, one of his best pieces of work. 

Beaten for being a gay republican!  Over 1300 words of pure republican bliss!

The story however had one major tell:

To date, Wood has been reluctant to talk to any media, especially on-camera.   “I’m not going to win Princess Kay of the Milky Way or anything anytime soon, I look a little rough,” he joked.

Wood was reluctant to talk to the media because he knew he was lying, however his fake story had to be told so he chose people who were NOT the media.   Schneider of course, The Daily Caller and mediatrackers for some examples to make sure and get their message out to as many people  as possible before the house of cards fell!

This was yet another great example of how the echo chamber works.  They make up a story and a couple people run with it, allowing fellow paid and unpaid hacks to repeat repeat repeat!   Wisconsin reporter, Crazy Fred Dooley , Alpha Male Randy Hollenbeck and  Boots and Sabers(owen deleted the story like it never happened- no apologies or retractions) to name a few!   

This was an excellent example of the republican noise machine.

* Make up a story.

* Get it out there to as many people as possible in the 24 hour news cycle(shame on the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel for giving Schneider a forum).  Extra credit here for being incredibly upset and emotional about this story!

*  When story is proven to be false, either pretend you knew it all along or pretend nothing ever happened.

* Lather, Rinse, Repeat!   

This is how right wing sausage is made, and it is as ugly as regular sausage!  The thing to know is when there is a story spreading through the right wing blogosphere and hate radio squawkers, wait a couple days for the actual truth to come out! 

PS:   In case your wondering about how Schneider addressed his ridiculous fable as being false.  He amended his 1300+ story to add this at the end.

UPDATE: on October 29, Wood recanted his allegations to the Madison Police Department.

Yes he is THAT dishonest!

Here is a tale of two men.

One man running for office, has had a looooong political career who realized that he needed and wanted the LGBT vote to help advance his political career. From 8/25/94:

 BW: You've denied allegations that you called lesbians and gays "perverse." Why do you think a member or members of your church would come forward and make those allegations if they're not true?
MR: I think the reason they came forward was for political reasons. I gave the same remarks 10 times to 10 different congregations and no one came forward to me and expressed any concern. It was only when I became a political candidate that someone came forward. I think there's no question that my political involvement led to the [allegations] being made at all.

I can't speak to whether there was misunderstanding on the part of the listener or on the part of the speaker. I have spoken with individuals with that congregation and reviewed my notes of my remarks, there is no question but that I did not make the comments that are attributed to me.

BW: If not perverse, how do you feel about lesbians and gay men?
MR: I respect all people regardless of their differences. I actually made that very clear in my very first television advertising. I feel that as a society and for me as an individual, it's incumbent on all of us to respect one another, regardless of our differences and beliefs, our differences in sexual orientation, in race and that America has always been a place, and should be a place, to welcome and tolerate people's differences.

I personally feel and one of my core beliefs is that we should accept people of all backgrounds and recognize everyone as a brother and a sister because we are all part of the family of man.

The second is a man who makes a point of heading to all of the extreme "Christian" right groups to let them know that he abhors the LGBT community, and will be doing everything he can(if elected) to make sure they do NOT get equal rights!

Mitt & Paul Need Some Help!

Posted on ThePaulRyanWatch: Paul Ryan visits a hate group and vows to "fiercely oppose gay rights".

During an interview with Focus on the Family president Jim Daly, Paul Ryan reassured the anti-gay group that a Romney-Ryan administration will fiercely oppose gay rights. Focus on the Family and its founder James Dobson have a long history of promoting anti-gay policies and ex-gay therapy, and earned a shout-out from Romney earlier this week while campaigning in Colorado, where it is headquartered.

We know that Paul Ryan does not have time to explain how they will govern and he really doesn't have time(IE too scared) to debate Rob Zerban,

Since Ryan is so busy, and will "fiercely oppose" equal rights for the LGBT community, then we know they will have a very "manly" administration!  

To help ease the burden on the Ryan/Romney administration, I thought we could help pick his cabinet.   Maybe helping with this burden, Paul Ryan will be free to actually answer some questions for a change!


Here are a couple of my suggestions.  

1.  Marcus Bachmann for Secretary of the Interior:

2.  Republican state senate candidate John Macco, who will be looking for something to do when he loses too incumbent Senator Dave Hansen:  Macco would be a great candidate for Secretary of Health & Human Services. 

Who would be your suggestions?  

Mitt's Toughest Question

Typical Mitt Romney, he thinks he is cozying up to a war hero who will tell him how great the republican party is, instead he gets put in a situation that he despises.

You just know by his facial expressions that was the worst 3 minutes of his life and his suit was burned after!

  

I wonder if this is why Mitt left the troops out of his convention speech? 

The Republican Party Loves You *

After his recent visit to the state of Utah, Nanette Billings, the wife of Washington County, Utah’s Republican Party chairman, sent  openly gay Republican presidential candidate Fred Karger, a nasty email days later, he received the following email via his campaign website [sic throughout]:

“you are an idiot.  You met with my husband Willie Billings today about you being on the Utah ballot.  He brought your frisby, and tshirt home and it is now out in the trash.  I never want to hear from such a radical idiot again.  you think you are conseritave?  conseritave means you beleive in the values of founding fathers and God.  Do you know you cant procreate right?  Well thank goodness for that.  Nanette Billings”

A Gay family member of a republican elected official:

Rep. Marsha Looper's (R-El Paso) campaign manager Lana Fore-Warkocz was so pleased with her boss's voting against Colorado's civil unions bill last month that she sent out an e-mail praising Looper for her vote even though she has a gay son -- unfortunately outing Looper's son in the process, according to The Denver Post.

"God is truly to be praised for Marsha Looper because she also has a homosexual son," Fore-Warkcoz e-mail to El Paso's voters read, the Advocate reports. "Praise God!" Fore-Warkcoz goes on to write in the e-mail, celebrating Looper for amending Senate Bill 2 to "protect" religious organizations "from harm."

 A member of the Catholic church:

American nuns are taking their opposition of the proposed Paul Ryan budget to the American people and embarking on a bus tour through some of America’s most politically important states.

In interviews after unveiling his budget, Ryan said that he applied his view of Catholic social teaching in his budget proposal, a statement that Sister Simone Campbell, the executive director of NETWORK, said co-opted sacred Catholic teachings.

“I think he was so direct in draping himself in the mantle of Catholic social teaching,” Campbell said. “He took the words but he took none of the meaning in the forming of the budget.”


Campbell continued: “It is one thing to have political differences, but to try to hide a budget that will devastate people and claim that it is supported by your faith. It is unacceptable. He is wrong and he needs to be told so.”

A member of the Latino or Asian communities (the republicans do not know the difference):

RNClatinos.com, the Republican National Committee’s new website aimed at Latino voter outreach, uses a stock photograph of Asian children as its banner picture. 

The stock photo found on Shutterstock is listed with tags including “asia, asian, cheeks, children, cool… interracial, japanese… thailand, together, trendy.” But the words ‘hispanic’ or ‘latino’ are nowhere on the page.

The GOP has been making a concerted effort to reach out to Latino voters this election season — but, by any account, this particular effort was less than successful.

LGBT in NC

A couple major events happened in the LGBT community this week.   The first we already covered.  President Obama came out publicly in favor of gay marriage. Which as I worte was a BFD.   On the absolute flip side of this coin was the tremendous hatred that the state of North Caroline showed on Tuesday   by passing a same sex marriage ban.  Of  course same sex marriage was already illegal but thats beside the point, when you hate so much why not just add a little more? 

(CNN) -- North Carolina voters have passed a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, CNN projects, putting a ban that already existed in state law into the state's charter.

With more than 1.5 million votes counted from Tuesday's referendum, supporters of the ban led opponents by a margin of 61% to 39%, according to figures from the State Board of Elections. Its backers prepared to celebrate by serving wedding cake to their supporters in a Raleigh ballroom.

Tami Fitzgerald, the head of Vote for Marriage NC, said she had been confident that "the people of North Carolina would rise up and vote to keep the opposition from redefining traditional marriage.

"We are not anti-gay, we are pro-marriage," she said. "And the point -- the whole point -- is simply that you don't rewrite the nature of God's design for marriage based on the demands of a group of adults."

These pro marriage North Carolinians received their message straight from God, to protect marriage.   Heck is God says it, it has to be true.  Right?
