Walker's Crusaders

Xoff already pointed out that those gosh-darned liberal teachers in Sheboygan have been brainwashing their kids, as evidenced when they tried to shout down the Solidarity Singers.

Here's the footage:

Funny thing is I have yet to same James Wigderson or any of the other wingnuts calling for their arrests.

What I did find more than a little disturbing is what these youths were calling themselves:

Get it? CruSTATErs?  How clever! How witty! How inappropriate!

Do they see themselves on some sort of holy mission to take out the people that don't agree with them, like the real crusaders did?  Note that the shirt says "FAITH Makes All Things Possible."

It does make one wonder, doesn't it? But then again, if one takes a look at the news that has been coming out of Sheboygan, maybe it doesn't.

  1. Wasn't two of GOP Sen. Joe Leibham's kids on that team? I saw 2 Leibhams playing in the game, but didn't know if they were related. If true, it would make it quite interesting to note that Leibham voted for pro-voucher legislation, wouldn't it?

Can't be too rough on Sheboygan Lutheran though, because Sam Dekker looks like he could be a helluva player in Madtown the next 4 years.

  2. Just checked Sen. Leibham's page, and the "family pictures" seem to indicate his children are too young. But he's 1 of 13 Leibham siblings (and he voted for abstinence only sex ed!), so chances are good that they were relatives. And Sen. Leibham's also a Sheb. Lutheran grad, interestingly.

  3. This is a useful reminder of the task that lays ahead of us to oust Walker. Not everyone wants him out, especially beyond the friendly confines of Dane County and Milwaukee.

    1. As well as rural areas.

Rural areas are often on the poorer end of things, and then to be taxed and regulated on by the urban population is something that I can totally understand why they would always vote Republican.

The best message for the rural areas, is that Walker is going to be empowering the state over the local governmental bodies. Something they don't want, but that is a message we need to communicate.

  4. Saw a tweet that says they were invited to the capitol by Sen. Leibham.

  5. I wonder why they think it is Christian to shout down the solidarity singers, a peaceful group?

    1. Word.

And I'm not just saying it in street vernacular, it also fits with the faith theme here.

      :)

      WORD.

Is it the same "Christian" faith that is hatefully spewed out of some of our local "Christian" radio stations?

I suppose, now I gotta go do unto others as these kids done did...

  6. The Sheboygan Lutheran Crusaders boys basketball team played and won the division 5 state tournament. I doubt these shirts were designed specifically for their trip to the State Capitol. The team played a 1:30 game that day and I'd bet those young men & women visited the capitol on their way to game.

What I find more appalling is the suggestion that the "Solidarity Sing Along on 3/15/2012 was invaded" by the students. Is this now the singers time and space and no one else is allowed to be there?

The high school students from Sheboygan Lutheran have as much right to be in the capitol as do the singers. They also have the same right to voice their opinion. For anyone to imply one group has more rights to our capitol building then another group is downright disgraceful.

Is this really what democracy looks like?

    1. I'll agree on with the space issue on this one.

However, I wonder why they want to stand with Walker? Is this what their pep rallies are like?

And why does the Lutheran school get to play in a public school state tourney?

Does Sheboygan Lutheran get public dollars?

Does Sheboygan Lutheran recruit from the public high schools so they get the best sports players?

      I think they do.
And the kids that get in at Sheboygan Lutheran are usually the offspring of the well-to-do whos kids are obviously too precious to go to the dreaded public schools. (or they are the kids who got expelled from the public school or are falling behind....)

But hey, they're great athletes, and a winning team! Stand with Walker, indeed!!!

    2. To answer a couple of your questions.

It is not a public school only state tournament. All the schools involved are WIAA affiliated.

I doubt SL gets any public dollars. Choice schools are only in Milwaukee and Racine.

It is illegal to recruit athletes in Wisconsin. ;)

The problem you have with parents choosing which school to send their kids is something you'll have to work out yourself.

    3. Eau Claire REGIS recruits.

Ok, "techincally" they don't. But they do.

  7. Agree with YoSAMite that the Capitol does indeed belong to everyone, and that the Sheb. Lutheran parents/ kids have their right to speak out as well. By the way, there's 140 kids in that school, and I'm guessing Walker might not be as supported at the two much larger Sheboygan public schools. The Leibham invitation certainly puts it in context, and it sure makes you wonder if they were put up to it (why would they even know the Solidarity Singers are anti-Walker?)

And may I also remind you of how the fake outrage machine on 620, 1130, and other AM stations in Wisconsin would treat things if the situation was reversed. They'd be screaming at how "disrespectful those punk kids are" to interrupt those singers doing their daily deed. Pathetic hypocrites.

  8. FAITH makes reason unnecessary, which is why the "faithful" are capable of the most vile deeds.

  9. The State Capitol belongs to everyone? Funny, could swear that's not the feeling of most liberals. (See this post for perfect example.)

  10. Anonymous at 2:42pm, private schools definitely recruit players at the HS level- some public schools do too with school choice (look at Madison Memorial and a lot of the Milwaukee schools if you don't believe me). It's sketchy that a school like Sheb. Lutheran is in the same level as some small-town school with 140 students, because they're recruiting from a much wider base of potential players than Drummond, Wis (anothr D.5 state participant who got blown out by a Racine private school).

But it is funny that Sheb. Lutheran is alllowed in the state tourney like the public schools, and get public taxpayer dollars like public schools, but Sen. Leibham and most other GOPs don't want Sheb. Lutheran to deal with the same accountability measures as the public schools. Interesting double-standard, isn't it? Makes you wonder what those kids are being taught at Sheb. Lutheran, because I bet a lot of them won't be supporting Walker once they get out in the big world after HS and see what he's done to tuition and job opportunities.

    1. I thought so, a local Catholic school was awful good in sports this year.

I suppose, the Republican is bringing faith back to society, so, it makes sense that the private (so-called) religious schools are gonna jump right in at the public revenue trough.

  11. Shebluth won't be back at the state tourny any time soon since their stud-muffin is moving onto the big lights in Madison. One player at that level will win you a state championship. The reason why many of the laws don't require that schools that receive voucher money also perform the same tests as everyone else is, you guessed it, because they perform substantially worse than everyone else. Private christian (non-catholic) schools are the worst performers on any of the tests, including much worse than public schools. Catholic schools have always had a high standard for education, while protestant schools have not. Any wonder that of our 9 Supreme Court justices, six are Catholic and three are jewish. None are protestant. And I'm not catholic or jewish, but I see it in the church services and people I talk to, check your brain at the door seems to be the common idea.

  13. This is one of my favorite comments on this page:

"And the kids that get in at Sheboygan Lutheran are usually the offspring of the well-to-do whos kids are obviously too precious to go to the dreaded public schools." I attended a Lutheran grade school and high school and can tell you that the kids that attended the schools weren't "well-to-do". In many cases, these are parents struggling to provide their children with an education that is based on faith. Its interesting that a group of people screaming for tolerance can't see this.

By the way...maybe the next time you want to interrupt a group of special olympics kids....you should think twice.

    1. Are you, by chance, referring to the day that the parents of the Special Olympians were booing Walker because he had just announced cuts to Family Care, thereby denying services to those very Olympians you pretend to care about?

    2. That is news to me. As I recall, it was just a bunch of boors spoiling a very nice moment.

    3. Now, that's no way to talk about Walker and his staff! But it also pays to pay attention and not take in the pap that you're used to. But glad to see you're with the recall too!

  14. Cut the LCMS (The Misery Synod, Just Like Luther Intended!™) some slack, will you? They can't help themselves, God only gives them the 'sad' emotions - angry, offended, persecuted - mixed with a healthy dose of self-righteousness. But man, if you get a chance and are wearing some good Lutheran camouflage (read: white), you MUST hit the dessert table at one of their potlucks. Yummy.
