That way, like the failed path Rob Vos wants, of privatizing our public schools, we can let the churches handle the education of our kids. Its working wonders in Indiana!
GREENSBURG, Ind. — An Indiana church is on lock down and its pastor has left for an undisclosed location after a video recording surfaced this week of a toddler singing an anti-gay song at the church altar, that included the lyrics, “Ain’t no homo going to make it to heaven.”
In the video, church Pastor Jeff Sangl can been seen in smiling and nodding in approval behind the unidentified youth.
Church members can be seen applauding and cheering the toddler as he sings the anti-gay verse — “I know the Bible’s right, somebody’s wrong- Romans 1 and 27, ain’t no homo going to make it to heaven” — with one person shouting, “That’s my boy!”
The Pastor and members of Apostolic Truth Tabernacle do not condone, teach, or practice hate of any person for any reason. We believe and hope that every person can find true Bible salvation and the mercy and grace of God in their lives.
We are a strong advocate of the family unit according to the teachings and precepts found in the Holy Bible. We believe the Holy Bible is the Divinely-inspired Word of God and we will continue to uphold and preach that which is found in scripture.
Unfortunately no one told the congregation this:
Despite the threats, all the members we spoke to have no regrets about the song getting posted online -- in fact one said, "The people who are upset just don't read the word of God. If we don't teach the children the truth early they will never learn."By the way, it appears that the did not et to the part about not lying as it appears they have received their death threats from the same entity that Dan Kapanke did:
As for the thunderous applause after the hate-filled song -- we're told, "Of course we applauded a child who is singing a song about God."
“To my knowledge, there are no death threats at this time,” Decatur County Sheriff Gregory Allen told FoxNews.com.
Dan Savage has more here!
We already have churches with schools. Nice try to try and link this to republicans though.
ReplyDeleteWith the psycho LT.Gov. preaching how "we" should be choosing to live our lives, there is little doubt in my mind that these pseudo-conservative religious types will circle their wagons, so to speak, and take pot shots at any group in an attempt to strengthen their own shortcomings.
DeleteRebeccaforreal will sell out to any of these types.
Just like Walker will defend our state constitution against the gays and their attempt to unionize together.
These are Republican core values we're talking about here. "Maintaining" the social classes, persecuting those who do not conform. "Shaping" and ordering society.
This church is typical of conservative tradition.
And social programs and lack of personal responsibility are Liberal traditions.
DeleteWisconsin amended its constitution to define marriage with a strong majority. Do you assume all the voters were deeply religious? All Republicans?
Myself, I could care less what people do. Just don't demand my acceptance. And that's all this gay marriage thing is, trying to feel natural while doing something that isn't natural.
Democrats are guilty of using laws and taxes to "shape" society as well.
Social programs and lack of personal responsibility do no go hand in hand...when you start holding people like prosser and Gableman accountable then talk to me about personal responsibility.....
DeleteNo I would not say all voters were deeply religious as a matter of fact i would not say that the people who voted to discriminate against lgbt wisconsinites were not religious at all....
I do not demand anyone accept gay marriage.
DeleteBut, Mr. IMBR, you support suppressing an individuals freedom by supporting your majority.
Do not try and turn your gay-bashing team around and blame another group for creating a more level playing field.
Laws do not "shape" society, rather, they stabilize it.
Laws apply to everyone just the same. Unless of course, one is rather wealthy, then it turns into a case of easily bankrupting another person and delaying judicial action to a point where money talks.
Mr. IMBR, taxes are a way at reigning in wealth growth. To the lower end of society that WE, Mr. IMBR are on, restricting wealth growth seems like an absurd idea.
However, we must embrace history now, and together.
Start by considering the Pope and when that church controlled much of the world, and the wealth of it. Look at how the holy leaders subverted history with its wealth. And also how it persecuted any who opposed it.
Spanish Inquisition is common.
Perhaps all the tax-hidden money overseas? Switzerland? Hey, which President of the USA had the balls to go after these tax-dodging folks? Think that's why Kochs are all itching to get him out of office?
(do you have the same ability to hide your wealth, Mr. IMBR?)
Churches have gone tax-free for so long in this country, too, isn't THAT an "entitlement" for a select few? The select few religious that want to suppress another group of people, too?
No, "lack of personal responsibility" is not a part of liberalism. Liberalism creates a ways and means, through a stable, strong, and fair system, in which the free market can flourish without succumbing to the insidious natures of the powerful economic elites that emerge every so often.
Born or inherited into a kingdom of wealth, these economic elites are so out of touch with us, Mr. IMBR.
They, the economic elites won't attack, instead, they play the slight of hand. (And we see this with all the groups putting out "issue ads now.")
What's fascinating is their ability to sway a small group of people on our level of existence to release their hatred, bigotry, and anger on each other.
And, yes, it's working. Their plan is working. And they don't give a crap about you, Mr. IMBR.
It is people like you, anonymous, who I wish wasn't anonymous so I could try to get you to write here.
DeleteJeff, I know 3 couples in my small circle of acquaintances that opted not to get married but rather had "commitment ceremonies" in order to maintain the females and the kids state funded health insurance. Not that they couldn't insure themselves with two incomes now, but this way they can get a big screen tv, or whatever there priorities are. Prosser was exonerated, by the judicial system and by the public vote, thank you.
DeleteYou suggested in your article that religious schools will teach our kids to be anti gay. But apparently we have that problem already right?
anom, I wouldn't reply since you don't take the time to identify yourself somehow but since the master spinster chimed in, and you remain respectful of differing opinions, here's a few thoughts:
My majority? This is how democracy works, I'm sorry, but the majority doesn't agree with you.
Laws can and are aimed at specific groups, sometimes to change behavior, sometimes to deter behavior. Your complaint is with the enforcement system and not the laws themselves.
"Taxes are a way at reigning in wealth growth." This is a very telling point of view. Liberals and conservatives have a very different view of taxes. Taxes are the way government funds itself and defends our freedoms, not a vehicle to play Robin Hood with, or to make society fair in an idealistic point of view.
History is an interesting topic. Every form of government in history has failed sooner or later. In your opinion what will cause the collapse of our country?
I don't hate wealthy people, nor do I think they are happier than I. So save the class warfare speeches.
Its too bad you feel the religious are a select few. Religion is as important for a society as laws. To little of either and there will be chaos.
Let me break the news to you, there is a growing number of people that are taking advantage of your stable, strong, and fair system. And you seem to be ok with that as long as they continue to be sheep.
Finally, their (the fiscally responsible, I assume) plan will help my son enjoy the opportunities and freedoms I have enjoyed. Preferably without the Carter years.
Imustberacist because I don't agree with Obamas vision of a stable, strong, and fair system. Find me a fiscally responsible candidate and I will listen. but mortgage our future? for what? Fairness? a fatter middle class? History may be kind to Obama as it was to FDR, depending on who writes it. But it is their types of policies that will end our democracy.
Excuse me, but Prosser was not exonerated. They haven't even started the judicial review yet.
DeleteOk, then apparently he's guilty until proven innocent then.
DeleteI didn't say that either. You sure are having a problem with honesty tonight.
DeleteIt appears that the men and women are kept on separate sides of the church, doesn't it? All those guys in suits whooping it up on one side -- and the little ladies on the other? What an absolutely disgusting display. Especially having the kid sing that line over and over.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder the rest of the world is baffled by what's happening in the United States.
