The Walker Education Plan Is Already Working! Part II

We must remember that it's not just workers and businesses that are suffering under Scott Walker's regime.  Our children, and the teachers we entrust them to, are also getting a raw deal from Walker's malfeasance:
The Kenosha Unified School District says it expects to cut more than 250 teachers to help close a $28 million budget shortfall for next year.

The district said Tuesday it expects 209 layoffs, 21 retirements and 23 jobs to be reduced through non-renewal of one-year appointments. Eight administrators and 13 secretaries will be eliminated.

Unified spokesman Gary Vaillancourt (VAL’-ehn-cohrt) tells the Kenosha News ( the deadline for finalizing the layoffs is May 1 and there could still be minor changes.

According to the budget, the staffing reductions amount to $15 million. Another $10 million is expected to be saved by closing a middle school and reducing school operating budgets, among other things.

Vaillancourt says they are still looking for ways to cut another $3 million.
Y'know, nothing says quality education like stressed out teachers trying to teach over-crowded classrooms with no supplies and no support.

Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if it's the objective of Walker and his cohorts to keep our children from getting good educations. If the kids were taught to think, there might be protests and recalls or something as they realize they're getting the shaft.

  1. Thank you. I have been saying this for a long time. That is the Republican goal -- to keep people in a hand-to-mouth existence and to keep them from being educated so they neither have time nor the inclination to figure out what the Republicans are up to.
