Walker and Department of Tourism Secretary Stephanie Klett said it's important to increase the tourism budget,
even while other departments are seeing cuts, because tourism creates
jobs. Tourism is Wisconsin's third-largest industry, drawing $12.3
billion in spending in 2010.
Yes, tourism "creates jobs", unless of course you have no idea what your doing, then it turns into a big waste. See when looking for someone to give our hard earned money too - the one criteria apparently was they had to be republicans. So the Zucker's fit the bill! Now that we found someone who fit the bill, let the silliness begin.
First off the produced this little fishing video that showed the wold that Wisconsinites are imbeciles:
Then reality hit and as so often is the case under Walker, the people were leading the way. While we were paying big money in wing nut welfare to the Zucker's to produce "tourism" video's that no one saw, Scott Walker was directing his own video's right in the Capitol that the whole world was able to see
Strike one ....so the Zucker's took another swing at it:
Meanwhile back at the ranch, Mike Huebsch was producing and Chief Erwin directing their own WI tourism ad that the world was able to watch:
With two strikes against them and lots of our money in their pockets, the Zucker's tried again. This time Scott Walker used it as a nice vacation get away (on our tax dollars) to CA to play in Hollywood. The Governor tweeted this pic today:
Kareem
Abdul-Jabbar and Robert Hayes recreate their Airplane! scene with help
of WI natives David and Jerry Zucker and Jim Abrahams to promote tourism
in Wisconsin. Nice cheesehead!
Because what shows the true beauty of Wisconsin better than a blow up doll with a cheesehead hat on?
This from Stephanie Klett our Director of Tourism:
On
cloud nine! The Wisconsin Department of Tourism just hosted a press
conference in Hollywood that is making pop-culture history. We are
reuniting two of the stars of the movie Airplane, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
and Robert Hays (Ted Striker,) with the
three writers/producers and directors David Zucker, Jerry Zucker and Jim
Abrahams for our next 3 Wisconsin Tourism commercials. The press was
insane, with CBS, TMZ, Getty Images, Yahoo Travel and Splash to name a
few. We are filming on the original airplane Cockpit set now!
Instead of focusing on our world class educational institutions, our beautiful lakes and wildlife. The fact that Madison is perpetually in the top 10 places to live rankings. The beauty of Milwaukee in the summer, the growth of the Fox valley, etc....
Our Governor and his staff go with this:
Yes you can just see the line of people rushing to Wisconsin to spend their money after this one:
Here is a free tip, maybe for the next round of ads, they can reunite another old movie and really promote the Wisconsin music scene:
Lenny Kravitz was walking by a choir practice and heard one of his songs being played, so he jumped in!
Word has it that when Chief Erwin and Mike Huebsch saw a black man joining a spontaneous singing event, he immediately issued a warrant for his arrest. The next time Mr. Kravitz steps foot in WI, he will be tackled and detained.
Singing is NOT allowed here, especially by people of color!
Ok I get it they are "fiscal conservatives", as Blaska wrongly puts it(when speaking of the potential Madison School Board tax hike):
Any company that hiked prices by 7.4% would meet massive customer
resistance unless it faced a shortage caused by some natural disaster.
(Edit note: 1. Schools are not companies(nor do they want schools to act like companies they just use it as a stupid talking point), 2. Companies raise prices all the time and shrink services(do you pay attention to the Canadian twinkies you just bought and handed out to your 8 friends?) 3. When you need to use the service/product you have no choice when it goes up(have you seen gas prices lately?) 4. Public workers, while performing services for the PUBLIC, already make less than private workers! 5. HOWEVER for the sake of this argument we will take Blaska at his word).
So Mary Burke, David Blaska and a host of others think that we should scale back public service pay because we are "broke".
And the list goes on and on and on in Scott Walker's Wisconsin. All to deafening silence from the "fiscal conservatives".
Now I understand why Blaska parrots and covers for the righties. He got his pension and state pay and wants to make sure no one else does. While I do not understand the hypocrisy, ignorance and selfishness, I do get it.
I also do not expect Mary Burke to be the leader on standing up to all of this abuse, UNLESS, she wants to be run for Governor. If so then the only story I can find on her doing a google search should NOT be that she wants to cut teacher pay again! She needs to take an active and vocal leadership role ....YESTERDAY!
I also do not hold Burke solely accountable for this.....where is Chris Larson, Peter Barca, Cory Mason, Kathleen Vinehout, et al... If you want to be our next Governor(and I would prefer that you become Governor in 2014), then it is time to stop the backroom discussion and step up front and center!
Scott Walker is in the business of giving us photo ops, which could be the picture on the front cover of his future ghostwritten autobiography. He gave us option 1, option 2 and option 3 and today we have a video.
Today Will Williams was the guy the Capitol Police hand cuffed and arrested for singing peacefully in the Rotunda of the Capitol. Today, Will Williams is the person who, while in the care of the Capitol Police, they let fall, handcuffed, down the marble staircase. Will Williams is the guy, who while down, the Capitol Police let stay down, and would not even afford him the dignity of uncuffing him.
Will Williams sat in the blazing heat of a jungle, on the other side of the world, and faced death practically hourly to defend the UNITED States of America. Scott Walker flies around the country and attends $2500/ plate fundraisers and brags of his strategy of "divide and conquer".
"No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America." Section 8 "The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing." Section 8j
This video shows Scott Walker's Wisconsin, and the contempt that the republican party have towards the people, more than any other to date.....
A Vietnam Veteran, being arrested for standing QUIETLY in the middle of the People's house, who while being arrested, accidentally dropped his flag and the police officer who is arresting him for using his first amendment rights, stomps all over the American Flag.
This is what Scott Walker has brought to WI!
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of
speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to
assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.[1]
Is there anything besides money that the current Wisconsin republicans respect?
Two Democratic legislators denounced this crackdown by Scott Walker’s handpicked police chief, David Erwin.
“Chief Erwin and Governor Scott Walker’s militant handling of the
daily peaceful singing has escalated this situation unnecessarily,” said
Rep. Chris Taylor. “The Capitol rotunda would have been much safer
today had Governor Walker given Chief Erwin a little red rubber ball to
play with in the corner instead of control of the entire police force. .
. . This is the kind of heavy-handed police government you would expect
to see in a Third World country, not here in Wisconsin. It must stop.”
State Sen. Bob Jauch was equally indignant.
“It’s just so unnecessary,” he said. “There are more important issues
in the state of Wisconsin than as to whether people are singing. Since
when is that threatening? You can bring in a gun in the capitol if it’s
concealed but you can’t come into your capitol if you’re singing?”
University of Wisconsin-Madison sophomore Audrey Seiler disappeared
for four days in March 2004 before walking out of a marsh on the south
side of Madison, Wis., where she claimed to have been held hostage by an
armed man. The investigation into Seiler’s abduction, which cost nearly
$100,000, turned up a knife in the marsh where she’d been “found.” It
also turned up a videotape that showed Seiler buying a knife, duct tape,
rope, gum and cold medicine before she vanished. Her story quickly
unraveled and police learned the kidnapping was a hoax designed to get
the attention of Seiler's boyfriend. She ended up pleading guilty to two
counts of obstructing an officer. Seiler received three years
probation, during which she had to pay $250 monthly restitution to the
Madison Police Department and seek mental health help.
Fast Forward to present day and we see that Mike Huebsch and Scott Walker are channeling Audrey Seilor(without the consequences)!
We also know that of the hundreds of tickets issued, I do not believe any have actually stuck yet. So the Walker/huebsch duo have wasted police time, police materials, people's time, court time, judge's time, DA's time, court materials to give out tickets that they knew would not stick at a tremendous cost to the taxpayers, all in the name of shutting down free speech.
The First Amendment gives Americans the ability to freely
express their opinions regardless of their political beliefs. The
actions of the IRS are an attempt to gag the voices of Americans who may
disagree with the policies and left-leaning ideology of your
administration. Quite frankly, this is un-American.
This is a subversion of American liberty and a secret but direct
attack against the U.S. Constitution. Immediate action must be taken to
ensure this never happens again. Here are two steps that should be
taken:
1. Fire any and all employees responsible for this situation.
2. Appoint a Special Prosecutor now to find out if laws were broken and if anyone committed crimes.
Jason Huberty was found guilty of violating a state administrative
code for writing with chalk on a sidewalk on the grounds of the
Wisconsin Capitol.
The six-person jury delivered the unanimous verdict after the one-day trial ended early afternoon Tuesday.
Dane County Judge Julie Genovese ordered Huberty, who regularly attends the Solidarity Sing-Along at the Capitol, to pay a $50 forfeiture and court costs.
The state Department of Justice has dismissed
dozens of tickets issued for Capitol violations since Capitol Police
Chief David Erwin took over in August 2012, and this is the first time
the state has taken one of the cases to trial.
Huberty, who has been cited 21 times while protesting at the Capitol, was ticketed Nov. 16
for writing "OMG GOP WTF" on a sidewalk near the State Street side of
the Capitol. Both Huberty, a Ph.D. student in geology at UW-Madison, and
Andrew Wyatt of the Capitol Police department testified that Wyatt
asked Huberty to stop and warned him that he would be cited if he
continued to write on the sidewalk.
Huberty said that he asked Wyatt whether he was on a public sidewalk, but Wyatt said he wasn't going to debate the matter.
I kid you not! Apparently washable sidewalk chalk is now more of a crime than cheating on your taxes. Somewhere Al Capone is rolling in his grave!
If that is the way it is then we must all abide by it.
See Something, Say Something!
If you have seen your neighbors, your neighbors kids, a local business, your own kids etc... playing with sidewalk chalk recently, Please call the Capitol police NON emergency line (608)266-8797 and turn them in! Ask for Chief Erwin!
Wisconsin is a state with laws and we will NOT tolerate dissent!
(Stephanie)Marquis said Wisconsin's rules, which include a permit process for those organizing protests or other events at the Capitol and other state properties, are constitutional and have been part of Wisconsin's administrative code since 1979. She said the code is in place to protect "the safety of the building and the public," and was simply being being clarified and updated.
One of the changes in the emergency rules is that a person would not need to receive a permit if he or she is holding "a sign that is not larger than 28 inches in length or width, or to any item of clothing worn by an individual."
It is so nice of the Big Government Walker administration to allow people to wear whatever they want to the Capitol without getting arrested.
The Amazing Chris Taylor recently took time out of her day to have a press conference(below) explaining the silliness of these anti American "rules" and calling for an end to them:
But state Rep. Chris Taylor, D-Madison, and other civil liberties advocates said the rules are a continuation of the "crackdown" by the Walker administration on free speech at the Capitol.
"I want it to stop," Taylor said. "I think it makes a mockery out of our democracy, and it does not need to be this way."
When a "tea partier" tells you they defend your right to protest as long as you get a permit, an angel loses her wings! It is time for this sham of justice to end and its time that the republicans joined in in telling the Walker administration to stop the insanity!
Witness this, where the Big Chief sent 3 officers outside the city limits to issue a citation to someone who "they identified" as leader to the Solidarity Singers! Taxpayer dollars hard at work!
It is time that Governor Walker retired Chief Erwin and put someone in this position who is mature enough to handle it and will take the 2 minutes needed to read the First Amendment to the Constitution!
Congress shall make no lawrespecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of
speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to
assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
By the way, how much is a ticket for singing these days? Is it reduced if you just humm? lip sync? whistle? Also how would any republican in Wisconsin, know what leadership looks like?
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Two Milwaukee uniform companies have charged
Gov. Scott Walker's administration nearly $26,000 for new state Capitol
police outfits.
Invoices show Lark Uniform Outfitters, Inc., billed the
state Department of Administration $1,279 for gold and silver buttons
and caps. Badger Uniforms billed the agency $24,500 for shirts and
pants.
New Capitol Police Chief David Erwin ordered the new
uniforms as part of his plan to upgrade the department's image when he
took over in July. The retired Marine and Wisconsin State Patrol veteran
also has banned his officers from wearing beards and goatees.
A Capitol police incident report indicates that the criminal charge against Jeremy Ryan, 23, stems from events in early July.
Gwyn Guenther,
president of the Wisconsin Capitol Correspondents Association, told
Capitol police that Ryan was repeatedly outside the Capitol press room,
yelling and disrupting employees, according to the police report.
Guenther also
told Capitol police that, at one point, Ryan sang a song mocking her
late father, longtime political journalist Dick Wheeler, according to
the report.
"I support
everyone's First Amendment rights to do freedom of speech, but we have
to look at some of the things that are happening here and how people are
presenting this First Amendment," said Capitol Police Chief David
Erwin.
WISC-TV contacted Guenther for comment but she declined
So Chief Erwin has decided that the first amendment only applies when it is convenient and Gwyn Guenther has decided as a reporter that she has nothing to say about a very important news story.
Shameful and disgraceful.
It is no wonder that the state of Wisconsin and politics is the mess it is when our media has so blatantly neglect their responsibilities!
A quick refresher course:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of
speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to
assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Before the righties get their panties in a bunch, this is not an endorsement of Jeremy Ryan. Its ridiculous to sing a song about someones recently dead father, whoever it is. However, there is no law on the books that says being a douchebag is illegal. If there were, Robin Vos and paul ryan would be roommies in Gitmo. There is also nothing that resembles a journalist in someone who gets a person arrested for what they have to say.
Chief Erwin has proven himself to be head of the palace guard and disgraces the uniform he wears. Gwyn Guenther has also proven that she is just there to take dictation and disgraces the profession of journalism. 236 years of people who have been actual independent journalists that have come before her are truning over in their graves at the way the press acts these days!
