The very soonest Madison residents could see an independent charter school open its doors in the city is fall 2018 — a year later than state officials first planned.
Now to be clear, Mr. Bennett seems like a decent enough guy, even if his position is just more big government from our current group of GOP "leaders". It is also not his fault that he accepted a position he was not qualified for at a salary that equals two teachers who work hard every day making a difference in our world.
The key is that in a time when our friends on the right talk about lazy teachers unions and professors not working hard enough, their anointed one over our public schools, has accomplished nothing all year and not a single peep from our "fiscal conservative" friends on the right!
The Bradley Funded Wisconsin Reporter I mean Wisconsin Watchdog (Ruff Ruff), did some hard hitting journalism this weekend. In order to try and minimize the impact of the Women's march on Saturday(which is probably the largest march in history), they had "reporters" (term used loosely) all over and this Tweet was the hardest hitting thing they could find.

“The Republican candidates think elections are about attacking each other’s wives. Or behaving as if they were 10-year-olds in a food fight in a cafeteria,” Sanders said. “These Republicans are not just an embarrassment for the American people, they are an embarrassment for sane Republicans.”
Madison Mayor Paul Soglin, one of a number of speakers opening the event, said Sanders was the only presidential candidate who wasn’t beholden to special interests and created policy proposals with middle-class families and workers in mind.
“The (current) agenda includes too many tax breaks for those who exploit workers in this country and abroad,” Soglin said to a cheering crowd. “Let’s get a couple things straight — tax breaks for the rich do not create jobs.”
Over 8000 screaming Democrats and Progressives took four hours out of the middle of the day on a Saturday to show support for Bernie Sanders.
While there were over 8000 people there, the one thing that was noticeably missing was elected officials. Sure there were some Progressive Dane County Board members and Madison Mayor Paul Soglin(who endorsed Bernie at the event) yet not a state wide/national elected official from WI was in attendance.
Heaven help anyone's career who endorses Bernie and Hillary wins!!
We see that with almosty unanimous support for Hillary from elected officials, not just in Wisconsin but the rest of the country as well.
This is a typical Hillary picture, meeting with local electeds alone and away from the peasants.
Where as this has been more true of the Bernie Sanders rallies:
When the electeds so differ from the voting public, it shows the disconnect they have with their constituents and it also shows that many are more worried about advancing their career, than making the world a better place!
Lenny Kravitz was walking by a choir practice and heard one of his songs being played, so he jumped in!
Word has it that when Chief Erwin and Mike Huebsch saw a black man joining a spontaneous singing event, he immediately issued a warrant for his arrest. The next time Mr. Kravitz steps foot in WI, he will be tackled and detained.
Singing is NOT allowed here, especially by people of color!
Everyone in Wisconsin remembers the protests of 2011. Scott Walker introduced his bill ending collective bargaining rights for public employees, which led to massive protests for weeks in Madison and throughout the state.
The Protests in Madison, at the Capitol were really sparked by MTI mobilizing quickly and other teachers throughout the state then joining in. In order to be at the Capitol to protest though, that meant that the teachers had to call in sick.
BOY did that piss off the righties. All over the state they made sure that teachers were punished for calling in sick to protest. From right wing leaning school boards, to the crazy righty "press", their main mission was punishing anyone who dared to speak up. Apparently, no one on the right has ever called in to work sick, when they actually were not sick, to do something other than work. As this video of a gathering of 100% democrats clearly shows!
Not to be out crazied by Maciver or out rightied by anyone in the state, the Wisconsin State Journal spent almost a year trying to get personal health care records of the Madison Teachers. Unfortunately, after a ruling by Judge Colas(remember him), they had to turn over personal medical records and pay $25,000 of taxpayer money so the WSJ to see that the teachers called in sick to protest(which you would have known by spending a day inside the Capitol). State Journal Editor John Smalley pretended that he was doing the public a service here:
The State Journal filed the lawsuit in June after the district
refused a request for the notes, and a revised request for the
notes with teachers' names removed.
Smalley said that until the notes are evaluated it remains
unknown what story, if any, will be written, but it's part of the
newspaper's responsibility as a watchdog to examine government
actions and hold officials accountable.
"When school gets shut down for four days, that's a big story,"
Smalley said.
MADISON – Gov. Scott Walker took 54 personal days, not including weekends, through the first 10 months of 2012, a Wisconsin Reporter analysis shows.
Walker, who earns $144,423 a year plus benefits as governor, has
raised record amounts of campaign money in his first two years in
office.
And the Wisconsin Reporter review indicates that much of his
“personal” time was spent out of state on fundraising or campaign-style
trips.
“Governor Walker’s not the first governor to keep up a very ambitious
political travel schedule, but I have to say he’s taken it to a level
we haven’t seen before,” said Mike McCabe, executive director of the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign, which tracks election-related spending.
But Wait ....There's more. It turns out Wisconsin reporter is actually being generous!
In determining that Walker had taken 54 personal days through the end
of October, Wisconsin Reporter included any day in which the governor
worked less than 90 minutes on official state business but marked the
rest of the day as “personal.”
For example, several days were marked “personal” except for an early morning staff call.
But not included as a personal day was any day in which the governor worked more than 90 minutes.
That excludes, therefore, multiple days when Walker may have worked
as little as two hours on official business, or days when he worked only
a half-day.
The governor’s calendar gives no details on what Walker does during his “personal” time, and his staff has been mum on the issue.
But comparing his schedule to other information sources, it’s clear
that much of Walker’s personal time is spent on more than hanging out at
his Wauwatosa home with his wife and sons.
According to the website, Walker hosted a “Romney Victory Inc.” event on July 11 in Washington, DC.
Walker’s calendar shows he had off July 9-12, except for a few phone calls before the National Governors Association meeting July 13-15 in Williamsburg, Va.
Walker also had “personal” time scheduled at the same time as a June 30 event, called a “reception with Paul Ryan and Scott Walker” at the Lake Geneva home of Vincent and Patricia Kolber.
Walker also has been criticized for detailing his policy plans
outside of Wisconsin, before sharing his goals before people back home, including remarks he made following a speech Nov. 16 at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Library in California.
OOPS. The difference between Scott Walker taking a personal day and our teachers taking a personal day? Scott Walker still gets paid! Now we hold our teachers to higher standard than our Governor? I guess lead by example is a thing of the past. Now we have even redefined "conservatism" to mean get paid lots of taxpayer dollars to campaign!
Pridemore is one of the more conservative members of the state Assembly.
Last year, he proposed legislation that would require those arrested or
charged with a crime to show proof of citizenship if the police officer
who stops them has reasonable suspicion to believe they are not here
legally.
Pridemore also has supported the "constitutional carry" concept, based
on the belief that the 2nd Amendment allows people to guns without
regulation. He says that means people should be able to carry concealed
weapons without getting a permit.
Pridemore was one of nine Republican state lawmakers who said they
agreed with the positions of the tea party-aligned group Campaign for
Liberty which advocates for arresting any federal officials who try to
implement the health care law, passing a "right-to-work" law and
legalizing the sale of raw milk.
However, the ONE reason that really disqualifies Don Pridemore from being taken seriously to run our schools, is his propensity for Grammatical errors in a simple 111 word press release announcing his run!
Obviously we are broke and can not afford spell check, so allow me to help!

Madison- State Representative Don pridemorePridemore(R-Erin) has filed papers to form a committee to explore tothe possibility of running for the position of DPI SuperintendantSuperintendent this coming spring.
“The status quo is simply not working. After spending billions of dollars on education in Wisconsin, we have not moved the needle a bit. I believe it’s time for a fresh set of ideas”, ideas," Pridemore said. “Our children’s education has suffered as a result and I believe it’s time to change that.”that," Pridemore added.
Pridemore went on to say that he expects to reach a decision on the race very soon. (Pridemore went on what? where? what kind of race? what kind of decision? in only 111 words dealing with one subject can we please be a little more specific?)
Finally, why or why, would Don Pridemore not put in the press release that he is an "Amateur Judge, ABATE Chili"?
H/T Bill Savage also, his incredible incompetence here has left an opening for the whole state to make fun of his boss. Brilliant way to start a campaign. That will look good on your resume!
On the same day, same city, just a couple miles apart, President Obama is due to speak soon. On the rainy campus of UW- Madison, here is a picture Emily mills took approximately two hours before the President is scheduled to speak:
I just got back from Fighting Bob Fest, and while it was a great day and some amazing speeches, especially Mike Papantonio, what was missing from the crowd was diversity and a younger audience.
While I they had some great speakers and special guests, it is time to start bringing the demographics down.
Who should they get to speak at a rally like this??? Tell me any name YOU would personally make an effort to go see!
