Arizona Gunman Was Registered Republican?

Jared Loughner, the crazed gunman who shot U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ), as well as 18 other people, killing six of them, was apparently a registered Republican:

CORRECTION: As many commenters and emailers have pointed, the Voter View is a hoax. I apologize for the error.

Now that we have that bit of trivia out of the way, can we get back to discussing how to end the irresponsible rhetoric that helped prompt this nightmare?

  1. You sure this isn't 'shopped? Someone needs to get his voter ID or driver's license number to get that information... and

"Loughner registered to vote for the first time in 2006, said Chris Roads, Pima County's registrar of voters. He registered as an independent and last voted in the 2008 general election." 2. There is no date on the screenshot, so it might have been photoshopped or not. And not every state has the same requirements for this kind of information. AZ does not seem to big on protecting people...

  4. In considering the clear contributing factor of "eliminationist," rhetoric coming 24/7 from the extreme and not so extreme right, (i.e. Jon Boehner continually inciting hate and fear of the center/left politic with language like, "Job Killing" HCR bill,) in the tragic deaths in Tucson this weekend, what I'm predicting will happen in the State legislature will be an immediate move to enable open carry, with the rightwingnutia sayng this would never have been nearly as devastating an incident, in Tucson, had a few more people had their guns at the ready to deal with the mentally off-balanced loose cannon.

I'm predicting that there will even be claims for passage of open carry as providing a safer climate for new manufacturing and to promote job creation.

And noting Walker's history and "concern" for care of the mentally ill in his former county position, along with the rest of the cheering deficit hawks, I know we won't be too generally surprised when funding for continuation of anything near adequate mental health services is among the first items on the chopping block, and conversely, demands for increases in, "obviously necessary," prison funding will materialize.

  5. When the lefties are stupid enough to fall for a photo shop with the town misspelled, not once but twice, I fear for my country.

  6. I call BS. Just went to the AZ registrant search: either a Voter ID number of a driver's license number is required to pull up his information.

  7. To Anon @ 8:41 and to Coop,

Apparently neither of you bothered to read through the comments where the blogger stated, "so it may have been photoshopped or not," admitting your needless reiteration of a point already conceded, and then completely ingore the final and pertinent question of the post, how do we go about behaving better and act as a civil society?

The lefties are "stupid enough," is exactly the kind of dismissive human value that leads you to be a part of the problem of promoting hate among our populace. My saying that you are part of the problem is done so without calling you stupid. What does your failure to understand (or to have read) what was written in the post prior to your comment say about you? I'll let you ponder that question and will leave it at that.

  10. Where, exactly, did I call anyone stupid? I simply confirmed that this could not be real.

  11. Coop, it was the other commenter that nonquixote was also addressing that made the stupid comment.

  14. Amazing that someone who would so quickly come out with a faked attack would complain about irresponsible rhetoric.

  15. What a piece of dirt you are. If you're going to create a hoax, at least get the spelling right, dufus.

  16. I'm not going to slam you or call you names, people make mistakes. You felt you found something that fits your prejudiced views on "Republicans" and/or "Conservatives" and you went with it. That said, you must also acknowledge the "Democrats" and/or "Liberal" contribution to the irresponsible rhetoric.
Liberal groups and organizations openly calling for Former President Bush's assassination, the attacks on Sarah Palin's children. Defacing and destroying government offices. I'll admit I'm not a regular reader of your blog, but I have visited more than a few times and I honestly can't recall a single instance where you asked/demanded that the liberal groups tone down their rhetoric or actions.

  17. Nice try. If you're going to fake a voter registration site, you might want to learn how to spell Tucson. And I invite anyone to go to the Arizona Secretary of State site and try to get voter registration information for anyone. It's here: https://voter.azsos.gov/VoterView/RegistrantSearch.do

You can't unless you have a voter ID number and/or driver license number.

  18. Obama: “They Bring a Knife…We Bring a Gun” Obama to His Followers: “Get in Their Faces!” Obama on ACORN Mobs: “I don’t want to quell anger. I think people are right to be angry! I’m angry!”
Obama to His Mercenary Army: “Hit Back Twice As Hard”
Obama on the private sector: “We talk to these folks… so I know whose ass to kick.“ Obama to voters: Republican victory would mean “hand to hand combat”
Obama to lib supporters: “It’s time to Fight for it.”
Obama to Latino supporters: “Punish your enemies.”
Obama to democrats: “I’m itching for a fight.”

  20. This blog would be bettered titled: Cognitive Dissonance. Your blog demonstrates that you cannot or refuse to reconcile the real world with your liberal solipsism. In the circle jerk of intellectual onanism the one armed lefty is king (or queen if you prefer).

  21. Loughner has been obsessing about Rep. Giffords since 2007, two years before the Tea Party Movement started and a year before Sarah Palin became a national figure.

Loughner is described by friends as being a left-wing, pot smoking, radical. One of his favorite books is the Communist Manifesto. He's an atheist. How in any stretch of the imagination could this madman's heinous actions be blamed on the Tea Party Movement or Palin? If anything, the guy could be considered a liberal, but I'm not going to go as far as blaming liberals for what he did, as the leftist MSM did. He's a nutcase, plain and simple. Those who've used the Tucson massacre as political capital to smear the Tea Party Movement and Sarah Palin, as well as calling for limits on our First and Second Amendment rights such as Rep. Louise Slaughter (D NY-28th) is attempting to do (goto http://tinyurl.com/6xks8dl ) are despicable!

  22. "Now that we have that bit of trivia out of the way, can we get back to discussing how to end the irresponsible rhetoric that helped prompt this nightmare?"

Let me get this straight ... you rush to post a phony voter registration that fraudulently identifies this guy as a Republican, without even apparently doing one shred of due diligence to see if it was even authentic, and then when you get called out, you want to imply YOUR concern is irresponsible political rhetoric????

Here's some irresponsible rhetoric for you Capper ... FUCK OFF YOU DISINGENOUS PHONY HACK!

    ReplyDelete
  23. One way to end the rhetoric might be to stop trying to blame thrid parties for the actions of a nut job... That's just my idea though,

Don't shoot the messenger... Doh, please don't take that literally and shoot a messenger! Now Ive done it, went ahead and shot myself in the foot... Damn! please don't think I am going to shoot myself in the foot.

This is getting hard... We need to set our sights on a more civil tone... Aww crap!! by sights I did not mean gun sights.

Lets just put this hate in the cross haris and deal with it... Aww damn...

  24. The books he read were given out at the lefty one nation rally in washington. Recommended reading for lefties. Shows where his mindset is.

  25. Good thing the lady that took the ammo/magazine from the shooter was smart enough to know what it looked like.

All you lefties reading this - could you have done that? I bet not!!! And would you know what to do other than post FAKE STUFF LIKE THIS (EASILY FOOLED) LEFTY DID.

too funny- give the lefties enough rope and they will hang themselves and their survivors will blame Sarah Palin.

    HILARIOUS!!

  27. What this tells me is that no one is perfect and that everyone mistakes. Sometimes, when people get caught up in rhetoric, like capper did, they make stupid mistakes. It's embarassing and you lose creditability, especially when other people pointit out. It also shows that people in glass houses...
