Advantage of Being a Walker Donor

By Jeff Simpson

You can have the taxpayer care for your kids!

MADISON (WKOW) -- The three children of a Columbus businessman receive their health insurance through the state's plan for low-income families, BadgerCare, despite their father's estimated worth of $20 million.

A 2011 divorce required Michael Eisenga to provide health insurance for his three young boys. The children's mother, Claire Hawthorne told 27 News Eisenga enrolled the children in BadgerCare.

What did Michael Eisenga do with his spending money?

Records show Eisenga owns real estate and more than a half dozen businesses, including a golf course.
Campaign finance records show Eisenga has contributed a total of more than $28,000 to Governor Walker, Lieutenant Governor Kleefisch and the Republican Party since April 2010.

Conservative America - A Fable!

By Jeff Simpson

One of my favorite writers, David Sirota, has been documenting lately how the reality of America is that we are NOT a right leaning Conservative country(emphasis mine).

Conducted by the University of California's David Broockman and University of Michigan's Christopher Skovron, the survey of nearly 2,000 legislators from across America documents politicians’ perceptions of their constituents' views on hot-button issues like universal health care and same-sex marriage. It then compares those perceptions with constituents' actual views.
The juxtaposition reveals a jarring truth: Both Republican and Democratic lawmakers hugely overestimate the conservatism of the very people they are supposed to represent. In all, the report finds that “conservative politicians systematically believe their constituents are more conservative than they actually are by over 20 percentage points, while liberal politicians also typically overestimate their constituents’ conservatism by several percentage points.” Ultimately, that has resulted in a political system inherently hostile to mainstream proposals and utterly unrepresentative of public opinion.
The first obvious question is why: Why do politicians - aka people who are supposed to be professional experts in representing others - so misunderstand their own communities?
Broockman and Skovron argue that one answer has to do with the prevalence of right-leaning mythology. Citing “Richard Nixon’s pronouncement that a 'silent majority' of Americans backed his policies” and “Sarah Palin’s suggestion that a latent 'real America’ supported her,” the researchers correctly note that there remains “a folk theory among conservative politicians that the American public is considerably more conservative than it seems at face value.” This theory is undoubtedly fueled by a Fox News-ified media that pushes such inaccurate fables.
Then Sirota wirtes a case study on how the Colorado Democratic Party was able to turn the formerly red state - BLUE!

 1. The first state in the Intermountain West to embrace serious gun control
 2. The home of Focus on the Family legalizes civil unions
 3. Rejecting Tancredo-style politics and allowing children of undocumented immigrants to pay in-state tuition rates
 4. An anti-fracking uprising in the middle of oil/gas country
 5. A historic victory for drug policy reform
 6. A major reevaluation of the death penalty and failed “tough on crime” policies
 7. Expanding funding for public education and healthcare
 8. A huge vote against corporate money in politics
 9. A decimated and demoralized Republican Party

In light of those words, Americans should be looking at what’s happening here to know what could soon be happening all over the country. If “as Colorado goes, so goes the nation,” then this square state is a glimpse into America’s potentially much brighter political future.

There you go, a 9 point plan to turn the book title of Scott Walkers new book from "unintimidated" to One term wonder.   The question is will the Wisconsin Democratic Party embrace a progressive future or continue with the right leaning, consultant listening too, minority status?

Remember, It's "An Independent Run"

looks like the far right extreme in Wisconsin have picked their candidate....They will be running the Sargent Schulz of the Supreme Court Patty Roggensack!

The WIGOP have lent former UW- Madison college republican and RNC Victory Victory Director Alyssa Moyer has been tapped to help run her campaign! let's also not forget that he has GOP "strategist" Brandon Scholz as an "advisor".

And here I thought that this was a non-partisan race, I am certain the hard core righties in our state will be upset over this!

Unless of course they are hypocrites.......

Luckily for our great readers, we were able to obtain video of Patty Roggensack being interviewed about the David "Ike Turner" Prosser choking incident"

A Ray of Hope

While the election was a nice way to end the year, I am not foolish enough to think that our current Democratic elected officials are going to be able to solve the mess we are in as a country.   We pointed out that many of our friends on the right, are just not mature or intelligent enough to actually take part in any kind of meaningful discussions.   We have a two party system and we can not solve our problems without both parties working together(which is something that has not happened for a while).

Luckily all hope is NOT lost and there is sanity in the republican party, and for the sake of the country they are starting to be empowered to speak up!

Bruce Bartlett, who served under both Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, is one such republican!  Mr. Bartlett has had a lot of things to say recently about the state of the republican party, so lets let him talk!

“Things have changed so dramatically since the days when I first got involved with Republican politics,” says Bruce Bartlett, a former senior policy analyst for Ronald Reagan and executive director of the Joint Economic Committee of Congress.  “The Republican Party was the Party of ideas and now it’s the Party of crazy people, ignorant Tea Party people – people who know nothing and are proud of it.”
------------------------------------------------
The decline of the union movement has been very, very damaging to our politics,” Bartlett laments.
-----------------------------------------------
“There’s no question that Republicans hate democracy when it comes right down to it…It’s very common to hear Republicans say that people on welfare should not be able to vote,” Bartlett told us.  He added: “They’re also basically racist. They don’t want anybody other than white people to be able to vote…I think one reason why they’re behaving so crazily is because they’re desperate. They know the demographic trends are all going against them and they are just holding on for dear life.”
-----------------------------------------------

“As long as you've got crazy Tea Party people who for some reason vote against their own direct economic interest and support the billionaires against themselves, we’re kind of stuck,” he lamented.

Unfortunately, it’s not just the Republican Party that’s stuck. As long as those “crazy people” are running the people’s House of Representatives, the American people are stuck, too, watching helplessly as our nation unravels, and waiting anxiously for Bartlett’s “Reality-Based Community” of Republicans to rise again.

Bravo to a reality based republican like Bruce Bartlett who understands the damage the ignorance of the tea party has brought to our nation!   For the rest of you, its time to take back your party!

What's Your Name Again?

I Love This!

Multi Multi Millionaire Mitt who spent his whole life trying to become President of the United States as some sort of birthright!

Yet in the end, Willard ended up with an extremely poor VP choice, and 47% of the vote(the same 47% who feel entitled to 'gifts' and wont take personal responsibility for their lives obviously).

The person who ran for the republican nomination for President for six years and made it through a brutal primary season as THE  absolute best, most qualified person in the republican party, to run for President.  The Mitt Romney, who was endorsed by the Wisconsin State Journal AND Senator Ron Johnson, just picked up another award!

Least Influential person in America(H/T GQ)!

“Was anyone inspired by Mitt Romney? Did anyone vote enthusiastically for Mitt Romney? Of course not. Voting for Romney is like hooking up with the last single person at the bar at 4 a.m. The only successful thing he did this year was embody every black stand-up comedian’s impression of a white person. Thank God the election’s over. No more endless photos of Mitt staring winsomely off-camera with that attempted smile on his face. No more glaring campaign mishaps week after week after week. No more labored media efforts to make him look like anything other than Sheldon Adelson’s pampered money Dumpster.”

Ixnay on the Epublicanar Hingat

Fox news in their daily pile on the Benghazi story, brought on Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author Thomas Ricks to talk about his new Book "The Generals" and help with the pile on.

The problem is since its a made up story, Mr. Ricks was not buying in.

Co-anchor Jon Scott interviewed Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author Thomas Ricks, who has covered the military for decades, about his new book "The Generals." Scott asked Ricks weigh in on the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi and Sen. John McCain's criticisms of Amb. Susan Rice.

"I think Benghazi was generally hyped by this network especially," Ricks said. He added that he thought McCain seemed to be "backing off" from criticizing Rice since "the campaign [was] over."

"When you have four people dead for the first time in more than 30 years, how do you call that hype?" Scott said, pushing back against Ricks' characterization of the network's coverage.

Ricks compared the situation to security contractors who were killed in Iraq. He described the attack in Benghazi as a "small fire-fight" and added, "I think the emphasis on Benghazi has been extremely political, partly because Fox is operating as the wing of the Republican Party."

At that point, Scott thanked Ricks for his time and ended the interview after about 90 seconds.

Looking at stories like this, and it is surprising more journalists do not just up and quit.

Republican Crazies

There is a serious effort after the Mitt/Paul election drubbing by the republican party to pretend that the crazies are the fringe and they are being weeded out.  It is just not true! Here are three more examples!

H/T Sam Seder & The Majority Report:

Remember that one, everytime Scott Walker/Reince Priebus tell us why they want to get rid of same day registration!

#2 Mitt wont quit!

#3 This guy is the republicans next great "thinker"?

Another Caption post

Americans for Prosperity Poverty is the gift that keeps giving.   Every time we get bad economic news in Wisconsin, AFP throws a party!

The fact that they are so incompetently run and rejoice when Wisconsinites get bad news gives plenty of blog fodder but the best thing about them is they keep giving me "caption this" photos.  While none will beat this one, here is another,  I could not resist!

Here is the description from AFP:

One of AFP's youngest activists gets involved to make phone calls and change the policies that are failing our country.

Click "LIKE" if you're excited to see activists of all ages making a difference!

Im sure you can come up with a better description.

Republican Thugs - Fox News Followers

Example # 53725364992542 - the craziness is NOT equal, to say it happens on both sides, diminishes and excuses the completely insanity of the current right wing!

This from Florida!

A Florida man "obsessed with Fox News and the Republican party" felt that his girlfriend was too "liberal" -- so he decided he had to kill her.

Police arrested David Kappheim, of Lake Park, on Saturday after the 60-year-old threatened a woman's life because of her supposed political orientation, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The report recounts several incidents in which Kappheim allegedly arrived "stark naked" at the home of his girlfriend's friend, choked his girlfriend and told her that he would "kill her and burn her home," the Palm Beach Post reports.

Kappheim explained to a sheriff’s deputy, “He was very conservative, and his girlfriend was liberal and he felt he was going to have kill her," according to the arrest affidavit, according to WPTV.
Earlier this week, Kappheim reportedly “laughed out loud" when his girlfriend said that his reckless driving was scaring her.

Kappheim is charged with domestic battery, aggravated assault and criminal mischief, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's website says.

STOP excusing this, voting for this, explaining it and defending it please or someone is going to get killed!   Please someone in the republican party who is sane, speak up and take your party back!!!!

Republicans Have Total Disdain for Women

No wonder some people think the GOP are set to take over in November....everything they say is perfectly sane ........for 1812.

First off Paul Ryan thinks that rape is just another way to get pregnant.... Then there is Pennsylvania GOP Senatorial candidate Tom Smith:

Finally there is this blast from the past who used to be a sane moderate voice in the republican party, but

now is nowhere to be seen!

You can also check out the siren for more on Paul Ryan!

American Taliban!

This could be the best, most honest two minutes in all of television!

Republican Thugs - Desperation Edition!

Some more magical moments that the "tea party" has wrought us: !. From our neighbors in Minnesota
Authorities are investigating a possible threat to President Obama after a burned cat was found staked to a tree stump using an American flag, next to a Obama 2012 campaign sign. Longfellow Park, the site of the incident, is located in southern Minneapolis. The park is also used as a polling area. Minnesota primary elections are being held Tuesday, August 14, 2012. It is not known if the display has anything to do with the local election. The display drew the attention of law enforcement agencies from all over the Minnesota area, including Homeland Security, The FBI and The Secret Service who investigate every threat made against the president no matter how benign.
Isnt that special.... Now from our friends in Florida.....
20 year old Joaquin Amador Serrapio Jr is facing 5 years in federal prison for threatening the life of President Barack Obama back in February, to which he has now plead guilty. The date of sentencing for the single felony charge of threatening to kill or harm the president is set for August 22nd. My research reveals that Serrapio considers himself a musician and has an official Facebook page with a small following. The only post from Serrapio was created November 30, 2010 that linked to a YouTube account that has been deleted. The email address "djdiddles305@gmail.com" is asked to be used for bookings. It seems at this time, however, that the only 'booking' going on will be Serrapio being booked into prison. A self described, "republican conservative" Serrapio pined on his MySpace page that, "i'm cool. I am a republican conservative. And currently doing mixed martial arts.So if you'd ever pull a knife or a gun on me on the street, id laugh in your face...Seriously."
One more from the Shark's son in Las Vegas:
Danny Tarkanian, a Republican House candidate in Nevada, accused his Democratic opponent, Steven Horsford, of pretending to be black and taking the African-American community for granted. Horsford is the state’s first black Senate majority leader. Tarkanian told the Las Vegas Review Journal last week that he could reach the black community in the district, touting his ties to local basketball programs. His father, Jerry Tarkanian, is a legendary former University of Nevada-Las Vegas basketball coach, and Tarkanian played for UNLV in the early 1980s. “My dad’s worked in that community for a long time. And my mother has,” Tarkanian said. “My basketball academy, which is very close to the district, has a lot of players and families in that district that are in our academy now for 10 years.”
Running on your dad's accomplishments seems to be a theme this year! They could have never gotten the idea to push the race card from the Mitt Romney campaign could they???

Republican Extremists - Part 2

Following in the footsteps of Republican Extremists, comes even more extremism.  It seems like throughout the country, republican elected officials try to outcrazy each other.   In the latest installment of "he didnt really say that did he" or " people really vote for these guys?" comes Pennsylvania Republican Representative Mike Kelly:

“I know in your mind you can think of times when America was attacked. One is December 7th, that’s Pearl Harbor day.  The other is September 11th, and that’s the day of the terrorist attack,” Kelly said, according to NBC. “I want you to remember August the 1st, 2012, the attack on our religious freedom. That is a day that will live in infamy, along with those other dates.”
No wonder the republican party of Pennsylvania is trying to purge as many voters as possible before November.    What was the horrendous event that happened on 8/1/12?   Women now have access to birth control! Seriously that's it!

By the way, Hawaii Senator Daniel Inouye, who was actually at Pearl Harbor on that horrendous day, says Not so much!

"I witnessed the attack on Pearl Harbor and had the privilege of serving in the United States Army during World War II," Inouye, 87, who will celebrate 50 years as a senator in January, said in a statement.

"It is complete nonsense to suggest that a matter discussed, debated, and approved by the Congress and the President is akin to a surprise attack that killed nearly 2,500 people and launched our nation into the second World War.”

We Are Having the Wrong Debate

After the horrific events in Aurora, CO as a time to talk about gun control. While I do think we need to have that conversation, the NRA has such a stronghold on our political system that we all know nothing will change and no politician will have the courage to even put reasonable controls on assault weapons.  Even if Senator Ron Johnson thinks that people in Wisconsin hunt with 100 round clips and assault weapons(no one ever accused the Sen RoJo of being intelligent).

The debate I think we should be having that might actually change something, in the wake of this tragedy, is healthcare!

One of the victims of the Aurora tragedy is Caleb Medley.   Mr. Medley who is currently unemployed, was shot in the eye during the assault.

Caleb Medley was shot in the eye in the Aurora movie theater shooting and remains in the intensive care unit in an induced coma. Medley sustained the terrible injuries only days before his wife Katie was due to give birth to a baby boy they plan to name Hugo. She now joins him in the same hospital — just one floor away — where she was set to be induced.

But even if Caleb makes a full recovery and meets his son, what happened late Friday evening at the movie theater could ruin the young family’s finances. Caleb doesn’t have health insurance, and his medical bills could amount to $2 million, according to his family.

Caleb’s life will be forever altered by this unexpected and horrific event, a constant fear of many uninsured Americans. The Affordable Care Act — much of which will not be fully implemented until 2014 — extends health insurance to millions of uninsured Americans like Caleb.
So what should happen to Caleb??  His life is forever changed, through NO fault of his own, and now he is $2,000,000 in the hole(and with a new baby, who is another victim in this).  While the republicans are putting all of their eggs in the repeal Obamacare basket, which would help people like Caleb, they also have no alternative to replace it.

I would love to see the republicans explain EXACTLY what should happen to Caleb and how their policies would help him.  NOT dance around the topic.  Can Paul Ryan (R-Wall St.) look into a camera(because he sure knows how to find a camera) and explain exactly how the policies he advocates for would help Caleb and his new family?  Or does he NOT care about helping people like Caleb and his newborn?   We know the audience at a republican debate let it be known that they think Caleb made his choice to have no healthcare so he should pay that price now.   Is that how the republican politicians think also?

The democrats are not perfect on this either.  Why is Obamacre not coming into full effect until 2014?  What would they say and what have they done to help someone like Caleb?

Since our current batch of republican politicians have brought us this coffee can health care system, its time to put out that coffee can.

You can help Caleb Medley by donating here and joining his facebook page here!

You can also help by calling your elected representative and demanding answers!   It's time for them to stop playing games with people's lives and help the Caleb's of our great country!

Guns Don't Kill People...

Extreme Right Wing Gun Nuts Do!!!!!

In Arizona, J.T. Ready,  a right wing neo-Nazi extremist, strapped on the body armor and guns and went out and gunned down four people.  While the NRA and the republican party would have you believe that this is just some random nut, but there is so much more to J.T. Ready than they like to let out.   First of all he was running for Pinal County Sheriff at the time.   Ready had a long interest in politics and like all people who do,  he had a hero he modeled himself after and that hero was Arizona republican Russell Pearce.

In case you were wondering how you have heard the name Russell Pearce before, he was also the author of the racist and controversial  SB1070 immigration bill. So this crazy loon snapped, grabbed some gun and went out and used them.   By the way, some other background during his shooting spree a  toddler died.

Now let's bring this to Wisconsin and how it effects you. Ever since the republicans, during their jobs session, passed one of the least restrictive concealed carry laws in the US,  firearm purchases are  at an all time high.
Americans are arming themselves like never before, and Wisconsin is smack in the center of the trend.
Firearms-related businesses in the state say they are hard-pressed to meet demand, which they say is being generated by factors ranging from Wisconsin's concealed carry law to presidential politics.

"It's incredible," said Steve Lauer, owner of Lauer Custom Weaponry, a manufacturer of firearms, firearm coatings and accessories in Chippewa Falls. "We can hardly keep up."

Precise figures on firearms sales don't exist. But based on the number of calls made to the FBI and Wisconsin Department of Justice for background checks related to firearms purchases, more guns are being sold this year than ever.

The number of calls to Wisconsin's handgun hotline set a record in February, with nearly 16,000 calls. So far this year, the hotline has handled more than 53,000 calls. That's on pace to far eclipse 2011, when the hotline handled just shy of 90,000 calls for the full year.
People in Wisconsin can not get guns fast enough.  The republicans are responsible for arming our population and now we will see where that leads us.   The one thing we know is that they  will take the accolades but none of the blames.    We saw this in action when an unarmed Bo Morrison was gunned down in Slinger.   We all know it will not stop there,  We have right wing hate groups, who the Bush administration itself labeled as domestic terrorists, in Wisconsin now legally armed.

There was a tremendous amount of violence and intimidation, during the last 18 months directed at people who disagree with the far right and  Governor Scott Walker.  Let's also not forgot the closest parallel  case we have here in WI, the case of Phil Dziki.

Of course our politicians are the adults in the room and exulting calmness and calling on their followers to do the same right??

So now we have a very enthusiastically armed populace, an angry  electorate and a group of politicians who will play into that fear as much as thy possibly can.   You do the math!

Erik Hovde's $400,000 Gaffe!

We saw recently that with enough advertising the people of Wisconsin will believe anything. We found out that as the saying goes, for $30,000,000 the republican party can sell ice to an eskimo.   With enough commercials on TV, the republican party of WI was able to trick the people of WI into thinking that Scott Walker has actually created jobs.

Recently, Washington DC resident Eric Hovde who is running for a Wisconsin Senate Seat actually took time away from sucking taxpayer dollars out of our government to actually visit Wisconsin, now probably wishes he hadn't.  The problem was he spoke his truth, which never goes well for the republican party(FF to 13:45):

H/T Huffington Post:

Then, pointing to a reporter in the audience, Hovde said he would love to see the press stop covering sad stories about low-income individuals who can't get benefits and start covering issues like the deficit more frequently.

"I see a reporter here," he said. "I just pray that you start writing about these issues. I just pray. Stop always writing about, 'Oh, the person couldn't get, you know, their food stamps or this or that.' You know, I saw something the other day -- it's like, another sob story, and I'm like, 'But what about what's happening to the country and the country as a whole?' That's going to devastate everybody."
This was followed by an announcement by the Koch Brothers Front Group,  American for Middle Class Poverty , that they would immediately be spending $400,000 in ads for the Senate seat which will not be up for vote until November.

This is what the call damage control.  Since there is a chance that Eric Hovde will win the republican nomination, they need to overwhelm the message and change the topic, ASAP.

Just some quick advice to AFP:  It took $30 million dollars, 70 paid field organizers and busloads of paid looneys from Illinois to come up and make sure Scott Walker won his recall, and he is a professional politician who is actually from WI.   I think estimating this gaffe at only $400,000 is a pretty low estimate.

Finally, one question I just can not figure out.  What is the Prayer that Eric Hovde Prays to end these "sob stories"

Dear Jesus please make the stories of the poor disappear who cares about them anyway?  Its the rich who might lose 3% of their income that you and I both know are the true Christians in this world?

Dear Jesus, why do my rich ears and eyes need to keep being exposed to boring stories of people not being able to eat?   I had a Filet yesterday that was amazing but a little small, I was hungry an hour later and no reporter wrote a story about that

Dear Jesus, I know all of that talk about the poor in the New Testament was all just parables and code words.  I know that the richest people on earth are the one who you love the most.  Please make those annoying reporters stop wasting time on stories about the poor in this country.  They live in America where a guy who lives in Washington DC can run for Senate in Wisconsin, so if i can overcome those odds, than those poor lazy people can go eat at McDonalds and stop bothering me.

Leave us a better prayer to stop the "sob stories" of the poor people in this country so we can start praying for Eric Hovde immediately!

Finally if this sickens you(like it should) please go here and give Tammy a little bit of support!

As Our Country Burns - The Right Wing Watches!

I can think of no more stirring symbol of man's humanity to man than a fire engine.  ~Kurt Vonnegut

This same thing happened a year ago, and now it is deja vu all over again!   Why people do not understand the immense damage that republican rule, especially the far right republican rule has on America and it's citizens is beyond me.  The proof is an almost daily occurrence and it happened once again in deep red  Tennessee's rural Obion County.

When fire broke out in her mobile home in Tennessee's rural Obion County Monday morning, Vicky Bell called 911. The fire department from nearby South Fulton arrived, and then just watched as the home burned to the ground because Bell had not paid the $75 annual fee for fire protection.

Bell and her boyfriend, Brian Gilbert, escaped the fire without injury, but lost everything. "We have no idea where we will go from here," Bell told KFVS-TV. "We are very lucky it was minutes from getting us."

For $75 %#*@* dollars the fire department let these poor fellow Americans house burn to the ground!   This shows the difference between being a progressive American or a right wing american.  It is the difference of if we live in a "WE" society or a "ME" society.  Right now we are living in a "ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME" society(thanks tea partiers)!   Think I am exaggerating?  Let's check back in with some of the players of this tragedy!

Obion County Mayor Benny McGuire tells the WPSD-TV "To me, it's not an issue. To me it's like car insurance. If you have a car, you pay insurance. If you want protection, you pay the price."

South Fulton Mayor David Crocker says if the fire department responded to homes where people failed to pay the fee there would be no reason for anyone to subscribe to the service. "There's no way to go to every fire and keep up the manpower, the equipment, and just the funding for the fire department (without the fee)," he told the Tennessean.
This kind of government makes the right wing columnists and pundits salivate:

And, for their trouble, the South Fulton fire department is being treated as though it has done something wrong, rather than having gone out of its way to make services available to people who did not have them before. The world is full of jerks, freeloaders, and ingrates — and the problems they create for themselves are their own. These free-riders have no more right to South Fulton’s firefighting services than people in Muleshoe, Texas, have to those of NYPD detectives.
Let's check in with the attempted freeloader Ms. Bell( in the biggest case of Stockholm syndrome I have ever seen).

Bell told KFVS-TV she didn't pay the fee because she didn't have insurance, which she told the station is a requirement in order to subscribe to the firefighting service. "I'm not mad at the city, I understand," said Bell.

The station reported Bell told them most of her neighbors in the trailer park did not have insurance because they are not eligible.
Bell says she's more concerned about how she's going to put her life back together now that she and her boyfriend, Brian Gilbert have lost everything.

"We have no idea where we will go from here," said Bell. "We are very lucky it was minutes from getting us."
So she understands that her whole life possessions and almost her life are gone because she did not pay a $75 "fire fee"?  We watch fellow Americans lives burn for $75 and cheer?   In America?   Our Founders would be sickened!
