Wisconsin State Fair, Now With Illinois Cream Puffs!

When one thinks of the Wisconsin State Fair, there are some traditional things that come to mind automatically:
  • The farm animals
  • Fried cheese curds
  • Herb Kohl's milk stand
  • The midway
  • Getting a baked potato
  • The music
  • Racing pigs
One of the most iconic things connected to the Wisconsin State Fair are the cream puffs.

They are so iconic that local TV and radio stations will use them as promotional
tie ins.  Each year, the Fair sells hundreds of thousands of cream puffs during its ten day run.

So now with just two months to go, we find that Scott Walker, who has ruined so many of the things that used to make this state great, has now taken away our cream puffs:
Illinois-based Prairie Farms is the new official cream supplier of the Wisconsin State Fair cream puffs.

The fair needed a new supplier after Golden Guernsey went out of business in January.
It is common knowledge that Scott Walker is an epic failure.

But to not even be able to find one dairy company from Wisconsin that could supply the cream is unbelievable.

But if the Wisconsin State Fair cream puffs are now from Illinois, I shudder to think what the Governor's Auction is going to look like.

  2. I believe that Wisconsin cream has been classified as a junk food by the Tea-bagger legislature.

  3. I think all Union Members should protest by not purchasing at the State Fair. See what that does to their sales.

  4. This is treason!

Will dairy farmers finally see the light that Walker hates Wisconsin and all it stands for?

  5. As a purveyor of such fine Illinoise foods as legendary Deep Fried Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal Brown Trout Nuggets (TM) I really have to ask why all the hate for Illinois?

Hate all you want, Illinoise is keeping some of it's favorites exclusive to the Illinoise State Fare. No matter how much you all losers beg. Have to drive if you want the legendairy Burrito Deuce on a Bun.

  6. I thought it was Illanoyance. Be that what it may be, Scott Walker had nothing to do with this. Learn the history of Golden Guernsey before being such hateful children.

I am glad that a conservative business owner from Illinois restarted GG after it was ordered to close by some liberal anti-business bureaucrats from both political parties.

Keep up the good work Democrats. Highest number on unemployment under your watch. Highest number on disability on your watch. What's next???

    1. Wow, someone that is actually dumber than Walker. Amazing.

Yes, we know that Golden Guernsey was struck down by vulture capitalism. We also know that the Great Recession was caused by Bush/Cheney, which led to the high unemployment. We also know that Walker is taking the state further down the tubes while the rest of the nation is growing again.

Now, what were you saying, Cream Puff?

You'll have to bear with me for a moment as I'm slightly winded from all the laughter. Make no mistake, I'm definitely laughing at you, not with you. What is it like to be you? Do you take every bit of information you happen across, every iota of sensory input, and whitewash it through some right-wing bullshit filter? Do you really live your life like that? You have to know, at least on some level, that essentially everything you managed to hastily type out in that little screed was total and utter bullshit right?

Do you really think, and I'm quoting you here as I could never fabricate a sentence quite as perfunctorily stupid as, "it (Golden Guernsey) was ordered to close by some liberal anti-business bureaucrats from both political parties"? Do you honestly think that's what happened? Do you understand that OpenGate Capital, the PE firm that owned GG filed for Ch 7 bankruptcy and a trustee liquidated it to pay creditors? Of course you don't understand that. That would require reading, learning, understanding, possibly even avoidance of the Republican bullshit filter you clearly have your head stuck in. If you care to, and I think we all know that you don't, you can read up on it here: http://www.pehub.com/180242/pe-backed-golden-guernsey-dairy-liquidate/

If you really want to put yourself out there, here's the actual U.S. Bankruptcy case: http://www.plainsite.org/flashlight/case.html?id=2370835

If I may offer a brief piece of advice? Feel free to discard it if you choose to. Before you take the time to type out a sentence such as this, " Learn the history of Golden Guernsey before being such hateful children.", you may want to take your own advice. It will spare your family the shame of having to admit they're related to you. Now run along, try reading a book without pictures, and have a very average day.

  8. Just so ya know

Not only is Prairie Farms a family owned co-op, but they produce rBGH free milk, support sustainable dairy farming, buy a great deal of milk from Wisconsin, and have certified that all the milk for the special cream they'll be filling the cream puffs with will be coming from Wisconsin farms.

Now can the hysteria and go have a cream puff.
