Burke Phoning It In

On Wednesday, Mary Burke is supposed to be having a slew of "house parties," but not in the traditional sense.

Instead of going to a person's house, she is expecting people to gather in their homes or the homes of friends to hear her on a phone conference.  Part of the email announcing this:
Winning this race will take the support of thousands of Wisconsinites just like you. House Parties will be happening across the state on January 15th and Mary Burke will be conference calling in. So we'd like to invite you to hear from Mary about her commitment to Wisconsin, why she's running, and how she will work every day to restore Wisconsin values and create jobs and opportunity for everyone.
I don't know, but to me that's not getting me excited.  In fact, the cynical side of me is willing to bet that the message is prerecorded.  While I'm not a fan of Kathleen Vinehout either, at least she was going out to meet people all over the state until her accident.

I also find it peculiar that in the metro Milwaukee area there is apparently only one house party.

The Dems better figure out something quick or it will be getting very ugly in this state.

  1. Trial run! You have no idea how exciting a phone call will be.

  2. And what does any WI Democrat think they are going to get from a corporate leaning Democratic candidate this time around, except for some version of what has come to be expressed by their unintimidated US Congressional (with a few exceptions) and presidential leadership.

Add to that the fast track authority being sought by Obomba to push through the TPP and the TTIP (TAFTA) we better get some voices out there to counter the DPW and what is in all likelihood going to be a push for the national pattern as it effects workers and families in the state.

  3. So Capper - may I suggest you come to the house gathering and get to know the candidate - unless of course you are able to call her directly and get a more personalized phone call. Get over it Capper and move on. Perhaps you want Walker to be reelected eh? God Forbid - who would you write about except maybe Abele.

    1. Oh, I think we already know enough. Why should I accept a candidate that isn't interested in improving the economy or creating jobs just because she is supposedly a Democrat? And methinks it's actually the Democrats who want Walker to be reelected, given the way they are trying to force Burke on us.

  4. I'm tempted at this point to run an insurgent campaign against Scott Walker as a Republican in the primary, and run on a platform that would be an amalgam of the populist speechifying and tactics of Teddy Roosevelt, Bob Lafollette, and Bill Proxmire. Run on no money. Attack the plutocrats without mercy. Promote a green new deal for Wisconsin.

    1. Is there anything holding you back? I'd send you a couple of dollars. Would also spring for the popcorn.

    2. Joshua, if you do run for governor, I would prefer that you run in the Democratic primary, since your wing of the Republican Party hasn't existed in decades.
